pinkyblue I nearly spit my tea all over my computer screen!

chelstonmum · 16/02/2011 13:38

Hi everyone, congratulations to all the new posters.

9weeks now and wondering when the horrid feelings will pass. Looking forward to half term, everyone off for a whole week and off to (sunny) Scotland, although not looking forward to the mamoth drive!

What is everyone else upto? x

magicalmimi · 16/02/2011 14:26

Hatterbox, What wonderful but shocking news that must have been for you

However more likely you are to be having a second set of twins - for those of us that have single children the jump from two to four seems so much greater than from one to two!

How lovely for all the children too. Must be great to have a twin :)

jimmijam · 16/02/2011 15:10

hi, havent been on here 4 a while, thought id pop in 2 say hello and c how everyones doing.
havent read back very far yet, but....congratulations hatterbox on your doubly exciting news! i'm sure, esp as u'l have already done it b4 u'll soon settle into a routine with them!

im 11 weeks today, and seem to have grown a big bump overnight, several ppl at work commented, i got home and looked in the mirror to realise theyre right! so excited!! :-)tell the family next week when we see them (they live 3 1/2 hour drive away so dont see them often) then got our 12week scan :-))
i shall read back a bit more c wot uv been up 2

recklesspixie · 16/02/2011 18:28

pinkyblue I'm jealous you only found out now, you must be about 10 weeks? I'm 9 weeks and have beem poking and prodding myself and analysing every feeling for weeks now, oh to have been blissfully ignorant!

jimmijam welcome back, was wondering where you'd gone to and was keeping my FX that everything was ok for you....

Hatterbox my DH is a twin and I got hives when I was 6 weeks pregnant and when I googled it it said that hives can be a symptom of pregnancy but are more usual in twin pregnancies! ahhhh 3 weeks til scan, keep wondering what if......!

chelstonmum I'm a teacher too but I've a feeling I'll be spending my mid-term break on the couch!

ssmile · 16/02/2011 19:12

hatterbox gosh hats off to you that be a big shock and hard work but doubley rewarding??

recklesspixie my DH is also a twin and it has crossed my mind a few times. He didnt enjoy being a twin so got to wait until 28th to find out... Dont think it increases your chances though.

pinkyblue I think Im due 12th Sept too!

recklesspixie · 16/02/2011 20:13

ssmile you're right, it doesn't increase my chances at all, also my DH is a non-identical twin which isn't hereditary so if I did have twins it would just be a fluke! I just like thinking of all the possible outcomes in this 12 week wait limbo that I'm living in!! just passing the time on the couch eating crisps and daydreaming....

jimmijam · 17/02/2011 11:16

mmm food...

MrsSawyer · 18/02/2011 10:47

I had my scan yesterday and all is well, saw a good strong heartbeat and im now a happy lady! Hope everyone else is fab x

Dualta · 18/02/2011 15:30

hi everyone! I have been lurking on here thougt i would say hiJ am 8+5 and had emergency scan the other day but baby (our 1st) looks happy enoug in there!
just wondering if any of you are coping with morning sickness at the moment and when it peaks and ends? Have really struggled, mising work and sick from morning to nigt was totally unprepared for this!

JennyFurry · 18/02/2011 16:44

Hello everyone. Not been here for a while but thought I would pop in and say hello and also welcome to all the newbies.

I has my booking appointment yesterday and was slightly underwhelmed by the experience. I was very glad my hubby didn't take time off work for it as it was just form filling really - hasn't helped the whole thing feel more real - grr. So waiting for scan appt to drop through the letterbox now but have been told that my hospital doesn't do the Nuchal translucency test but just go on bloods for Downs risk. I had been kind of banking on getting it and feel a bit confused about what to do (ie. Private scan) or just to leave it?? Does anyone have any thoughts?

As for morning sickness, I feel almost constantly nauseous with no appetite but have not actually thrown up!

Happy weekend everyone Smile

recklesspixie · 18/02/2011 18:53

my constant nausea is gone but I always feel sick in the evenings, kinda like feeling sick it's reassuring! still very tired but not exhausted, I'm jus 10 weeks now so maybe it's easing for me FX!

CBear6 · 18/02/2011 20:18

@ Dualta congrats :)

I've been bad with morning sickness too that lasts all day. I'm struggling to remember exactly when it ende with my son. I'm 9+2 weeks right now and last week I had a really good week, just a little bit of sickness, breast tenderness was fading, I had a loupe more energy, I was hopeful that I peaked and was on the downhill side of it. Then this week I'm feeling sick all day, especially at night. My breasts feel like they're going to burst and if they do I won't be cleaning it up as I have zero energy - 8pm on a Friday and I'm nodding off to sleep, how rock and roll am I!? I'm starving hungry all of the time and you don't even wanna know about the mood swings.

Just nature's little way of letting me know everything is still ticking over in there :)

I keep telling myself it'll be better in another three or four weeks. I've found that when I feel sick it helps to eat something, especially something high in energy or sugar (sickness can be triggered by low blood sugar) - a banana, an apple, orange juice, honey on toast, gingernut biscuits, all of those help. I know when you're sick you don't want to eat but it really does help. Going into a different room too, sounds strange but find the change in air/temperature/position can ease it a bit also.

I've been avoiding strong smells, cookery shows, and that awful Lurpak advert with the omelette - bluergh.

Misty9 · 18/02/2011 21:24

Haven't posted for a while but had to comment on the lurpak ad reference - I can't STAND that ad at the moment! Thinking about food generally makes me feel sick, let alone seeing it close up :P

11+1 today and feeling less constantly nauseous but still gets a bit worse in the evenings it seems. Getting a def bump - and before anyone says it's bloat/gas - I can feel my uterus above my pelvis now and it's getting hard and less like bloat. It's my first so my mum just said I've been eating too much Angry but I know I've got non-existent stomach muscles so may push out a bit sooner.

This time next week we'll have had our scan and seen little poppyseed wriggling around hopefully :) Can't wait!

hope everyone else is feeling better, second tri soon ladies!! xx

freckleye · 19/02/2011 14:07

Can I join you?!Smile

Congratulations to everyone and commiserations to all those for who it has not gone to plan xx
I am due end of September and look forward to getting to know you guys also due at the same time Grin and trying not to moan too much about constant nausea and tiredness Wink

newmumtb · 19/02/2011 17:35

Hi everyone, new here today, due at the mo 7.sep, almost 12 weeks now, 1st baby
had my booking appointment with the MW this morning, she was quite good but still did not make me feel less stressed out about having to wait for another 10 days for a scan. I've been driving myself mad, especially as bump is now quite visible and hiding it at work becoming very hard indeed. I just want to tell everyone, but how can I when i dont even know what's going on in there :) I'll hve to bear it for another week. Finally feeling a bit better after 7 weeks of sickness, still very funny about food, all I feel like eating is bread, fruit and veg.. I guess its at least healthy, but I just want to enjoy food again :(
I've been reading the previous posts, having trouble with all the abbrevations : DH DS? or is it just my pregnant brain which is being a bit blonde:) :) its probably really simple
good luck with all your bumps

CBear6 · 19/02/2011 17:46

Congratulations newmumtb :)

DH is Dear/Darling Husband and DS is Dear/Darling Son. There are loads more and I was confused when I first joined a couple of weeks ago but there's a list here:
www.mumsnet.com/info/acronyms
That shows the most common ones.

It's so hard waiting for that first scan but it'll be here before you know it, one day at a time is the best way. The first scan is amazing, just mind-blowing, and it's the only one where all of baby fits on the screen at once, by your next scan at 20 weeks baby will be so big they'll have to look at him in sections.

newmumtb · 19/02/2011 17:54

:):) Thanks cBear6 , i knew there was going to be a list somewhere. as you say i'll have to take it one day at a time, the longest wait of my life ever.. i wish i had some kind of craving to obsess with, but all I can think of is food I don't want :(
loads of relly helpfull tips here so that'll keep me busy at work at least for a few days:)

CBear6 · 19/02/2011 18:22

I've got my scan on the 4th of next month, it's only a week on Friday but it seems miles away. I'm rapidly outgrowig my regular pants - I've got an elastic band around my button and the hole because I can't close them enough to button them properly - and even my knickers are getting tight on the waistband but I don't want to dig out my maternity stuff yet just in case.

I saw a heartbeat a week and a half ago which was reassuring, the nurse told me that once they've seen a heartbeat your chances go up to 95% but I've been in that other 5% so it's hard to relax.

Im enjoying every day though, not sure my husband is mind after my mini-meltdown in Sainsbury's today over a jar of cocktail cherries.

recklesspixie · 19/02/2011 20:34

I spoke too soon yesterday thinking my morning sickness was easing, felt dreadful today and even vomited in our local wood when I was bringing the dog for a walk Sad

Hey everyone,

How's everyone doing?

I'm now 10+6 feeling great Smile and I've recently stopped having nausea, morning sickness and the tiredness has pretty much gone. I'm now really worried...I haven't had my first appointment with the mw yet. I expect I'll be getting one soon.

I know I'm really silly to worry about this... anyone else has the same? Confused

newmumtb · 20/02/2011 15:42

Hi gael1985, I'm about a week ahead of you and I had the same issue, I was waiting for a letter for the scan and for the bookng apt, but nothing came. At 11 weeks I called the hospital, and they had no record of me, something went wrong between my GP and the hospital. I had a sligth panick attack, but theyw ere able to add me manually, had my MW appt on sat, and have to wait till week 13 for my scan :(. I'd call the hospital if I were you as you should have heard something by now.

gael1985 · 20/02/2011 16:27

newmumtb I'm going to call first thing tomorrow, just to be sure. I know it sounds silly but I'm more worried that I'm not getting the nausea and morning sickness etc. Confused

newmumtb · 20/02/2011 16:44

gael1985 Dont worry, everyone's different. My sister is 13wks and she hasn't been feeling sick for a while, had her scan and everything was fine. Its just pot luck, just enjoy the fact you are feeling good, as trust me the sickness comes and goes and could be just around the corner :)
