Hey Everyone!

Im pregnant with my first little bean :)
Had a scan Friday and got my date as 4th september :) my little bean is defenitly a wriggler! but heard the heartbeat which was amazing, more real now ive seen it! :)

Thought i was 12 weeks though and turns out im only 11, which means another week or so of sickness and generally feeling crap,

The main problem ive had at the moment is back pain, its so bad in the evenings i cant walk and my left leg goes numb,
not sure this is baby related as bean is only the size of a plum, but jeez its causing me agro!

MummyTooBee2011 · 14/02/2011 10:36

Hey, my midwife didnt ask me until my second visit, and she asked mainly about my close family.

She will give you your pack on your first visit with the family questionnaire in it, is there anything you can think of him mentioning aka twins in his family?

ive been with my OH ages and his mum doesnt speak to her family and its a touchy subject, so i was a bit stuck too.

If your worried just ask him, the worst he can do is tell you to bog off.

xx

Hey everyone,

I'm 25 and pregnant with my first. Not planned but a very pleasant surprise! I'd love to join the september bus, Im 10 weeks gone i think. Due around the 13th and getting really really excited! Grin I was pretty sure I was pregnant over New Year but didn't get it confirmed till I returned from holiday in late January.

All good so far, apart from morning or shall I say afternoon sickness. Oh and lets not forget the tender breasts. Ouch!

Has anyone else had massive carb. cravings? I can't seem to keep away from chips, crisps and pies. I'm convinced I'm having a boy! I don't know if there's any correlation between food cravings and baby's sex.

I hope everyone is as excited as I am!. x

Rupsje · 14/02/2011 17:34

Congratulations and welcome to the new passengers on the bus!

Jojo1983 - I had my first midwife appointment today and she did not ask anything about DH's medical history. Perhaps this happens at the second appointment.

I am very excited about having had the appointment: it made it all seem a bit more real. We talked about potentially having a home birth which sounds quite good and relaxing.

A couple of bits of advice surprised me though: the midwife recommended I stop cycling to work, to reduce the risk of falling over / being hit by something! Perhaps it is better to be safe than sorry...

gael1985 - I am also having big cravings. Crisps, chips and cheese as well. I find myself eating a lot of crispbreak with cheese to try and get something healthy inside me.

lolajane2009 · 14/02/2011 17:39

i've heard the cycling thing before and was told it was due to lack of balance

CBear6 · 14/02/2011 19:18

I've heard the cycling thing before too, to do with dizziness and clumsiness - those hormones turn us into oafs apparently, pregnant ladies where I work are even banned from using the stairs except at their own risk.

I've been having a lovely day. GP signed me off for two weeks with another two weeks to follow if I want them so it's given me some breathing space from work. Hopefully it'll help them realise that they're stressing me out too much not bloody likely though fingers crossed.

I thought my morning sickness/all day sickness was starting to disappear but it returned with a vengeance today. Only sweet stuff seems to knock it back too so I feel like a full on sugar junkie at the minute, it doesn't help that my main craving this last week has been mint Cornettos, I'm trying to convince myself that as ice cream contains milk this makes them practically a health food.

gael1985 I'm craving carbs too (as well as those damn cornettos). I baked with DS today and one of the things we made was a corned beef and potato pie so DH could take some to work. I'm not sure it will survive until tomorrow as I've already nicked a slice!

I craved carbs with DS, also icy foods like frozen grapes and calypo lollies, and (disgustingly) bread with vinegar on it. I think I'm having a boy this time too.

recklesspixie · 14/02/2011 19:30

hey all!

welcome new passengers!
finally got fitted for a bra at the weekend and am now a 34F Blush.
Have had loads more energy the last few days, it's so great to be able to do things again, was getting bored with the couch!
Time is going a bit faster too and the 3 weeks til my scan seems do-able now Smile

exciteddotcom · 14/02/2011 20:05

Has anyone else had the injection for sickness? It is amazing! went from being sick almost constantly to not at all.

Also, got my date for my first scan through- not until 13 and a half weeks! I am going mad not knowing what's going on in there! I have no way off knowing if baby is ok, midwife appointment they wouldn't do the heartbeat or anything Confused

Anyone else had to wait this long??

recklesspixie · 14/02/2011 21:42

exciteddotcom mine's at 12 and a half weeks which is normal where I live, although I have heard of people who had to wait 14-16weeks.

exciteddotcom · 14/02/2011 21:46

Ah thanks Pixie, glad i'm not the only one- I hate the waiting!!

I guess it depends on the area, I am still going to try and get in next week in case there's a cancellation.

:)

lolajane2009 · 14/02/2011 22:08

I seem to be busting out of my 34e bra today... it fitted a few days ago... this is getting silly.

i havent had my scan date yet

CBear6 · 14/02/2011 23:19

I have mine on the 4th of March when I think I'll be 11+3 (if Thursday's scan was correct), very excited but very nervous. Keep telling myself I've got a good feeling about this one, he's a keeper.

My super strength hunger has kicked in though - 11:15pm and my tummy is rumbling something fierce.

@ lolajane2009 I feel your pain, I'm an E cup when I'm not pregnant and with DS I went up to a double F, finding bras to fit comfortably was a nightmare. I found M&S to be pretty good, Bravissimo was recommended to me but the prices scared me off. The best one I bought was a sports bra from Matalan - sexy right? It looked like a sling for cannon balls but it was brilliant, it had no underwiring so it didn't dig in or irritate when my boobs were tender but the design meant it was still supportive, and the fabric had a little bit of give/stretch to it so on days when I was a little bit more busty it still fit comfortably. I had four and I think they only cost me about £7 each.

fabcurls · 14/02/2011 23:55

Hi Ladies - just been catching up on all the news, big hello to those who have joined :)

Had a great time skiing 1st week of Feb - perfect holiday exercise, fresh air and a fabulous amount of sleep!! DH induldged in plenty of apres ski with our mates and I was the smug one with no hangover Grin

Saw the midwife last Tues for booking in - first questions was have you thought about where you want to have your baby? I was slightly freaked out so answered "the hospital" think she was looking for a bit more i.e. which hospital! DH was desparate to come but put him off as said it would be just lots of boring questions etc(which it was), he then got upset as in the notes it says "attended alone" - there is no pleasing sometimes. I then got the 20 questions routine that eve from DH and to be honest I don't think I could have paid that much attention at the appointment much to his frustration! Was dated at 10 weeks with due date of 31st Aug but pretty sure I'll still get dated in Sept come the scan.

Slight excitement today as letter waiting for me when I got home so presumed it was scan date.....no such luck just an invite for a flu jab after opening with "congratulations on your pregnancy", false hope indeed!

With regards to bras I am now comfy in a non-wired number from M&S - so non attractive though! Haven't changed massively but was getting sore with underwires.

Getting really fed up being so tired all the time and having waves of giddiness which means I am about to eat far too much food for one person at lightening speed Blush- on that note better go..........

Buranda · 15/02/2011 13:05

Hello ladies!
This is my first ever post, so please bear with me!
I am 32 years old and currently 10+3 with my first baby :o
Have been slowly getting more excited as the weeks have gone by, but ever the pessimist (bad I know) that I am, I've been plagued by worries of miscarriage, which isn't helped by the fact that a few close friends have suffered recently.
I'm due to have my first midwife appointment this Friday and my scan the following Friday. The wait has been excruciating!
Is there any chance the midwife will allay my fears and tell me this week if the baby is ok, ie: listen for a heartbeat? Or will she tell me I have to wait till the following appointment?
I've also been feeling guilty about my eating habits. I'm seriously craving cheese and crisps at the mo. I also used to be a keen runner but all that has gone out of the window because I am so exhausted all the time. So I keep telling myself that by not drinking any alcohol, this evens out my binge eating. Are we meant to beat ourselves up so much? :o

recklesspixie · 15/02/2011 16:27

Buranda I worry about miscarriage too, one of my best friends had a missed miscarriage last Sept and it's always on my mind. Today I don't feel sick and instead of being delighted I'm hoping everything is ok, madness, roll on scan, once you get to 12 weeks there's only a 1% chance of losing the baby... best of luck on Fri x

lolajane2009 · 15/02/2011 16:34

lol i wory too on days when my symptoms arent so bad. i think it is normal.

pinkyblueish · 15/02/2011 17:38

Memsahib · 15/02/2011 20:16

pinkyblue congrats :)

lolajane2009 · 15/02/2011 20:19

you been trying a while pinkyblue?

SkiBumMum · 15/02/2011 20:47

Can I go to bed yet?

Ben10sMum · 15/02/2011 21:08

Bed.........mmmmmmmm

Couldn't sleep last night. Didn't get to sleep till 2.30am coz of restless legs and hunger pangs and an overactive grumpy brain. Had to be up for work at 6.30 too. Sooo tired now. Really hope I sleep ok tonight.

I feel more full after a big bowl of carb Sent DH out for Bovril too. Can't get enough of the stuff. That and Marmite Brew Salivate.......

Buranda · 16/02/2011 10:30

pinkyblue, you're the same due date as me!

Buranda · 16/02/2011 10:30

Oh and congratulations! :)

pinkyblueish · 16/02/2011 10:58

@lolajane - No its a complete shock, I was on the pill and not really planning on having a little one for a couple of years but hey, god works in mysterious ways.

@buranda that means we were getting jiggy on the very same day hahhaha

Hatterbox · 16/02/2011 11:20

Congratulations to all.

My early scan has revealed I'm expecting a second set of twins. Shock

It is a lot to take in, and I'm not feeling the excitement I did after being told I was expecting twins the first time, but that's perhaps because it hasn't fully sunk in yet.

Usually I have a Wine when I want something to sink in but I can't do that this time.

I'll be back later to catch up on everyone else's posts, but have to dash and pick up my DS and DDs from nursery/pre-nursery, as they only do half a day today.

Happy pregnancy vibes to all
