Hi Ladies.

I'm feeling fecking awful. Midwife has been round today for first appointment, she was lovely, and said if I carry on like I am I can go in to hosp for 24hours for rehydration, I think she may have done so today if had wanted it, but I don't yet. I keep crying because I feel awful. It's such a mix of emotions, feeling so happy to be pg, feeling so awful because I feel awful. She also said to self cert for a week from work, and get a note if I still feel the same next week. I had to be brought home from work last night, and ended up telling a couple more people because I was so poorly.

Misty, hope all comes right for you.

JennyFurry · 18/01/2011 19:19

My thoughts are with you 100years. Take good care of yourself. Fingers crossed you feel better soon.

I made contact with MW today and she doesn't want to see me until 17th Feb when I'll be 9 weeks. That seems an awfully long way away at the mo. Is first appt at 9 weeks normal?? First pregnancy so all a bit in the dark.

Hope everyone is doing ok x

100years · 18/01/2011 19:30

I think it depends on where you are. The ones around by me see you earlier than that, but I don't think either is better or worse than the others. I am 7 weeks today, and now have a green book full of stuff we went through, I have to carry it with me from now on!! lol

JennyFurry · 18/01/2011 20:15

I'll make sure I enjoy the lighter handbag for another 4 weeks then Wink

lxr1 · 18/01/2011 20:49

Jennyfurry - I was told the same. MW doesn't want to see me before 8/9 weeks. Feels like an age away!

Brasso4 · 18/01/2011 21:01

Hi all, can I jump on the bus?

I had a bfp yesterday, giving me a due date of 20th September (which is also my birthday!)this will be my second baby, my DD is 11months old.

Quite scared - did not really expect it to happen so soon, it took ages with DD.

jimmijam · 18/01/2011 21:37

misty how did scan go?

fabcurls · 18/01/2011 21:41

Jennyfurry - was also told that if all going ok midwife doesn't need to see me until ~8weeks. Also my first pregnancy so kind of in the mode of thinking its not real and not wanting to discuss ins and outs of planning with DH! No doubt that'll all change soon enough :o

Get better soon 100 years :)

Misty9 · 18/01/2011 22:02

Hi all
Had an internal exam and scan - and saw poppy seed (in the right place) with a heartbeat and everything Grin

So pleased; got a scan pic but had to point out to hubby which bit was baby!

The bleeding is due to an irritated cervix apparently; I have an ectropian cervix, meaning some cells normally inside are on the outside and can get raw and bleed. Common to women who've been on the pill for a long time doc said.

We're having a baby! (or a white blob going by the scan Wink)

congrats to new Sept mummies - hope you feel better soon 100years
xx

100years · 19/01/2011 10:15

Thanks for all the Get well/feel better wishes. I had a fairly OK day of no puking yesterday, followed by bringing my breakfast up shortly after I ate it this morning!

I'm really glad all was well Misty.

And still some newbies joining us.

panashe · 19/01/2011 11:35

Hello

a little bit late but can I join ? Baby due 2nd September and I am already thinking if it comes a few days early it will be in whole different school year..

Sunnyandwild · 19/01/2011 18:20

Misty9- great that everything is ok :) I feel like I'm not going to trust that I am really pg and that everything is ok till the scan! still feels rather unbelievable!

100years...can't believe how bad you've been feeling, really feel for you... I'm struggling with just a little nausea and sickness... really hope it gets better....

Has anyone joined up with NCT yet?...I know its early but I decided I would join to make sure i get on a course, got a really nice email back within one day...

jimmijam · 19/01/2011 20:09

ooh panache had never thought of that, its quite strange. a friend at work pointed out 2 me 2day that we're going 2 have a wurzel, our little one is going 2 b from a different county to the rest of the family, and perhaps even pick up on the local accent! had't realised til she pointed it out 2 me!!

it's never 2 l8 2 join-babies not due til sept, and then we;ll all b on here consoling each other and sharing those milestones, talking about piles, stitches and which brand of nappies is best! :-)

holycrapolla · 19/01/2011 20:24

100years, so sorry your feeling so awful. I'd forgotten how rough constant nausea is but i'm not having anything as severe as you by the sounds of things. Got everythin crossed that it doesn't last too long for you.

I booked a private scan for next wednesday, had a real niggling feeling that all is not well for a while and then some cramping coupled with a faint positive after weeks of nice strong results made me panic so we're off to see if this little one is there and all ok.

Hope everyones feeling good and the news is sinking in...is it just me or is anyone else showing a bit already?! I've got a permanent pot belly that no amount of breathing in can hide!!

jimmijam · 19/01/2011 20:55

i know its early but all my jeans r 2 tight when the buttons done up...may get addicted 2 ebay....maternity jeans AND baby names book ordered! So excited, i know theres so much its 2 soon 2 buy, but i just had 2 get something!

ssmile · 19/01/2011 21:01

Hi just started 7weeks and had to start wearing my really loose trousers to work today - which are no longer loose. Think it wind though belly gets so big as the day goes on then by morning has shrunk back again. Alot bigger than I was first time around. Cant wait to get the joggers on when I get in from work and release the mellons :o

ssmile · 19/01/2011 21:02

Bra extenders are out already and being used. Good £2 short cut in material shop if anyone else needs them to help make bra fit better :)

fabcurls · 19/01/2011 21:50

Misty 9 pleased to hear all ok with you!
100 years hope today has all gone ok and you haven't been as poorly :)

Signs are changing as boobs are not as sore as they were, no real nausea which was expected as I am quite a pukey person at the best of times! I only start feeling a bit wonky when I'm hungry and I am absolutely eating like a horse today :o Might end up peeing on another stick as still not with the idea that its all real!
Purposefully wore the skinny trousers to work today just to prove to myself that I could and nothing has changed Wink
It'll all be so much easier to deal with after a scan as I won't be able to make excuses up then (all being well - touch wood).

Have had the first baby life change moment today as have been invited to a Sept wedding - to go or not to go, too weird to think about!

Big hello to the new joins its lovely to have more company :)

monkeyblonde · 20/01/2011 08:49

Can I join? BFP x 2 yesterday for our first baby! EDD 29/9/2011!

paternal · 20/01/2011 10:02

Hmmmm, I don't know if I/we can join, because I'm actually the dad? As there is no dadsnet (would only be filled with pictures of our partners, comparing, who has the best looking partner, who has the biggest bump, ect if there was) :)

I've been reading a lot on this forum & it's been good to see/understand what woman are going through. It helps me to understand and relate it to my partner.

A little bit about us:
Been for 2 scans (private) going again next week should be week 8 according to previous scans.
EDD - 15/09/2011
First baby (could probably tell by going for 2 scans already) :o
chosen UCLH midwife led birthing centre to give birth. ( so if anyone has experience or reviews it would be very much appreciated)

We are both very excited, it wasn't planned but in no means regretted. My partner couldn't keep anything down last week but is eating well this week. A quick question if you don't mind? What are you guys eating? We are of course staying away from raw eggs and fish we cut out red meat (vitamin A) for the early stages. But now Emma's Diary (book from Doctor) is saying no mayo or ice cream (eggs) it just seems like the only meat we are eating is chicken & turkey with some salad. And it's starting to get boring.

Anyway thanks for reading.

Misty9 · 20/01/2011 10:11

congrats monkeyblonde and paternal - great to have a dad's opinion on here :)

I've got "What to eat when you're expecting" and that says in the UK most shop-bought mayo is fine as made with pasteurised eggs. Same for ice cream - just check it's made with pasteurised eggs. It's a good book and has A-Z of foods and whether you can/can't eat them, and why not/restrictions.
I haven't noticed having to particularly change my diet yet...all veg is fine, and red meat is okay as long as it's cooked through I think? (no rare steak :()

My midwife said lots of calcium is important at this stage for bone-formation - so things like milk, yoghurt, hard cheeses etc. Also, is your partner taking a pregnancy vitamin? I take pregnacare, which contains all vital ones like folic acid, vit D and calcium (and a few others!)

I'm due on 9th, and 7 weeks today! Feels like it's going soooo slowly, but at least had a scan this week and saw poppy seed with a heartbeat :)

panashe · 20/01/2011 10:18

Hi paternal, why are you avoiding fish ? I don't eat meat but think its ok to eat fish especially stuff like mackerel once or twice a week.

I am sticking to bland foods at moment, jacket potatoes and toast and more toast just to quell nausea :)

paternal · 20/01/2011 10:38

Thank you Misty9

Yes she is taking Pregnacare too. I actually brought them before she was pregnant. :) my partner stopped taking the pill 21st of Nov and normally her period would start 2/4 days later. When there was no period, we thought she maybe pregnant but all the tests came back negative.
It was really confusing because she was displaying all the signs of early pregnancy, so we went to a private Gyno who done a scan and said that my partner had PCO's and as she had just stopped taking the pill it would be almost impossible for her to conceive at the moment. She gave us some tablets and told us to come back in 2 months.
Well after my partner started to have the same symptoms we went back after just over 1 month later and the scan said she was 4+6, which is 1 day after we had the scan. :) it's crazy!

What's really funny is we went away for Christmas and New Year & she told me she wanted to delay having a baby for about a year. We had a little argument/discussion and me being a man went off to sulk for 2/3 days, but it turns out that as we was having that argument/discussion she was already pregnant! :o

paternal · 20/01/2011 10:45

Hi Panashe

Sorry not all fish just things like Tuna, ect. Whats classed as deep sea fish as Some fish have been found to have high levels of Murcury. We have eaten Cod, but to be honest, she doesn't like many fish especially salmon.

laylasmummy09 · 20/01/2011 10:49

hipaternal congratulations id be happy if my oh joined and took an intrest in whats happening at this stage, hes not usually intrested til labour starts and he realizes baby exists as a real person, with regards to fish its a case of only having 1 portion of tuna a week because its got a lot of mercury in it but i think fish in general is ok, HTH.
