There is now a faint line! Can you get false positives? It's a clear blue test.....
Just done another test and I can't really see a line yet.....
This is a bit of a surprise to be honest! It would mean my third! Scary!

It's probably an evaporation line. They can't be relied upon after the ten minute window really, so looking at an old one is probably not a good idea! When was/is your period due?

Fortress · 03/12/2010 12:48

Thanks for responding :)
I'm due on in 3 days - I know do another test then, but suspense is killing me....
Had a 'feeling' which is why I took a test and my periods arn't always on time.

You can get a false negative, but not a false positive.

MistressMaker · 03/12/2010 12:51

What sort of line is it? Does it have colour in it or is it just that the strip where the chemical is is visible but hasn't reacted?

llareggub · 03/12/2010 12:53

You need to put the test result out of mind. They aren't reliable after 10 minutes.

Fortress · 03/12/2010 12:53

So does that mean I am pregnant?! Even if the line appeared way after the 2 minutes it says it takes?

Goodness... Only been at my new job since august :/

SoupDragon · 03/12/2010 12:54

no, you can't get a false positive but you can get lines that look like a positive but aren't, especially after the time limit.

colditz · 03/12/2010 12:55

Buy another test, don't drink too much fluid tonight, and do a test on your first wee in the morning.

I know the manufacturers say it doesn't make a difference, but I think it does.

Fortress · 03/12/2010 12:55

It's a blue really thin line much thinner than the horizontal line Iyswim?

OP posts:
Fortress · 03/12/2010 12:59

I think a vertical line is appearing on the test I've just done...! But don't know if my eyes are just playing tricks on me... It looks like another really thin line again though.
Will buy more tests and do another tomorrow colditz thanks :)

as its clearblue, it more than likely an evaporation line. They are well know for skinny evap lines which appear after the magic 10mins.

Is the thin line over towards the side if you know what I mean?

Sorry to say but I think you may have to wait a few days and try again.

Use superdrug tests. Much cheaper and really reliable and sensitive.

MistressMaker · 03/12/2010 13:03

Can you take a pic and post them to your profile?

SlightlyTubbyHali · 03/12/2010 13:05

Ok, if there's a vertical line on the test you have just done it is probably a positive.

If you can photograph it and can see it in a photo inside the 10 minute limit, that's a good sign.

It is unlikely but still possible, to get a false positive. FR had a load of these a few years ago (I had one - grrr) and CB +/- tests are notorious for producing a very thin vertical line (looks like its been drawn on lightly in biro almost) along the left edge of where the positive line should be.

However, if within 10 minutes of peeing on the stick you see a vertical line which seems to be in the right place, I'd say you're pregnant. How about getting a digital for certainty? Or post a pic of the thing on your profile so we can line-spot?

Fortress · 03/12/2010 13:07

Yes it is a thin line towards the left side.... Will get some more from superdrug thanks.

If a faint line is appearing on the test you've just done then it could be a positive as thats what happened when i tested early.

I have heard of evaporation lines though.

I tested early just because i had a feeling, the first 2 days of testing i got a really hard to see blue line, i wasn't sure if i was just looking to hard. Tested on the 3rd day though and i could definately see the line although still a bit faint. Period never came but i did another test a week later just to be sure and line appeared immediately !

Good luck Smile

colditz · 03/12/2010 13:18

have you tested again yet Fortress?? Love hearing the end results to peoples dilemas, especially if result is the right one Wink

Pancakeflipper · 03/12/2010 16:35

I am just noting a place here cos' I wanna know too now....

Been to Superdrug Fortress?

NorkilyChallenged · 03/12/2010 16:38

The issue isn't really faintness of line (a true positive can have a faint line) it's to do with the amount of time between doing test and seeing line. If past the 10 minute mark, then whatever you see is not reliable I'm afraid.

However, if you've been retesting and seeing lines appear within the 2 mins on the instructions then it's probably a positive.

Sparklies · 03/12/2010 17:03

Yep, the blue line tests are notorious for false positives outside the time limits. On the plus side, they're often sooner at showing genuine positives inside the time limit too!

Pink/purple line tests rarely give false positives outside the time limits.

Good luck!!

Fortress · 03/12/2010 22:05

So sorry for the suspense! Annoyingly I can't upload a picture from my Iphone! The choose file button is greyed out :( don't really want to you use family computer as you can imagine!
Didn't get as far as a superdrug due to snow, cold children and a miserable kids party!
On each test the line is literally like a very thin pencil line towards the left but still in the middle....
Think I'll wait till I'm due on (3 days) then do another test.
I'll keep you posted :)

sam26oscar · 03/12/2010 22:12

JimmyChoo17 · 03/12/2010 23:19

Lol me too pancake flipper!

Fortress · 04/12/2010 14:05

Ok so couldn't wait any longer to do another one... I've just done a superdrug test and within the 10 mins there is a faint vertical pink line.....!!! It isn't completely in the centre though?
It didn't appear in 2 minutes but was definitely within the 10 minutes.
My goodness am I expecting my third?!
:/
My youngest is 2 in february :)
