There is now a faint line! Can you get false positives? It's a clear blue test.....
Just done another test and I can't really see a line yet.....
This is a bit of a surprise to be honest! It would mean my third! Scary!

Yikes, so false positives are rare then?

ohnelly · 04/12/2010 14:19

Fortress - this was me a few weeks ago! The line is very very faint & thin? In fact your not sure if its there at all? If you read test it says disregard any results after 10 mins, and if there is a line it should be equal thickness to the other one to be positive. So it sounds to me like its negative - mine was had period a week later (after 8 weeks without one!)

ohnelly · 04/12/2010 14:22

Sorry havent read all posts - I mean the clearblue test, I can see you have done another since. You can get false negatives but you cant get a false positive!

Fortress · 04/12/2010 14:23

The superdrug test I just did has a pink faint vertical line which I would say was similar thickness to the other line in test window Iyswim? Also it appeared within the 10 minutes.

OP posts:
ohnelly · 04/12/2010 14:29

Oh sounds like you are then! How long did it take to appear?

Fortress · 04/12/2010 14:32

5 minutes?!

OP posts:
ChippingIn · 04/12/2010 14:36

Were you planning on a third?

ohnelly · 04/12/2010 14:37

I would say that you are then! Maybe early as it didnt show straight away & a bit faint? Sober Xmas for you! Grin
Maybe go to GP monday for confirmation?

Fortress · 04/12/2010 14:39

I'm staring at the superdrug test and I suppose the line might not be as thick as the test one but if you squint it kind of is??
No not planning a third anytime soon!!

Took me a year to conceive dc2 - thought one silly night would be alright! Blush
Dh will be ok though.... He's a great dad, he'll get use to the idea I'm sure :)

I had v v faint lines, full thickness, within 10 mins, on Superdrug tests and wasn't PG :( (have baby now though :) )

QueeferSantaland · 04/12/2010 14:51

Congratulations! (?)

I had this happen to me.
Test was negative.
When I emptied the bin that night it was positive.Confused

The results of the test in question is attached to my boob as I type.Smile

(I also had lots of false -ve when I had an ectopic pgc.)Sad

NeedToSleepZZZ · 04/12/2010 14:58

Oh, fingers crossed for you! My first test had a really really faint pink line, then did 2 more later that day and the lines were so strong they were virtually purple, I used first response for the second 2 and have subsequently heard they are really good ( I just got them because they were cheap Wink).

Now 30+4..... Smile

CrazyChristmasLady · 04/12/2010 19:59

Congratulations!

My first test (a Tesco one) was done on the day my period was due. The line was so faint I didn't see it at first and wasn't until I tipped it into the light that I could see a very very faint pink line. I showed it to DH who said I was looking for something that wasn't there. I sent him out to get a first response and there was a definite cross in the box.

Still done another 2 Tesco tests later that week, which were positive but still pretty faint.

I'm now 30 weeks with DC2. Xmas Grin

Fortress · 06/12/2010 15:48

Hello again! :) please can I ask more opinions?!

I took another superdrug test yesterday which appeared to have a faint line almost straight away but then took another test late that night (which my dh bought as I told him yesterday that I was pretty sure I was pregnant!) but came up negative! It was one of those digital ones so said 'not pregnant'
I'm confused because I haven't come on yet and I have simular symtoms to that of my first pregnancy. Weird!

So you are due on today?

You need to test using your first wee of the day - it is more concentrated and is more likely to give an accurate result.

Fortress · 06/12/2010 16:48

Thanks for responding :)
Yes due on today...
I really thought I was. Wouldn't have been planned but I'm rather disappointed. Do you think I should test again in the morning then?

OP posts:
NorkilyChallenged · 06/12/2010 16:55

Digitals are less sensitive than a lot of the cheaper ones so you should really wait for first wee of the day (more concentrated). Don't test multiple times (unless like me some people, you collect the wee in a container so you can try it with multiple tests) as your wee will probably not be strong enough later int he day, especially if you're drinking a lot.

Fortress · 06/12/2010 17:12

Thanks nc (hopeful emotion)
Ok, so shall I test with a cheap one tomorrow morning or do the digital again?

Can you go to GP and get bloods taken? have two tests taken a few days apart to see if HCG is increasing?...it should double every 48/72 hours.
Blood testing is the only sure way to check, and will give you a definate answer...Good luck, fingers crossed XX

Fortress · 06/12/2010 18:07

Thanks anytimenow it would have to be something life threatening for me to have a blood test Grin
Have to have them in my hand and I always faint!

hi everyone, so glad I came across this posting as I've had exactly the same thing happen to me as Fortress! I thought my mind was playing tricks on me when I looked at my clear blue test and saw the faint line so after a couple of minutes I chucked it in the bin. Madness I know, but I've just routed through my bin to get the test out and there definitely is a faint line down the middle! I tested on Friday evening so does anyone think I should test again, and when?

Me and my partner have discussed having kids and we're not using contraception but I've not spoken to him about this yet Confused I guess mostly because I wanted to surprise him but also because I don't want him to feel disappointed. This will be my first baby so maybe I'm just hoping too hard?
