There is now a faint line! Can you get false positives? It's a clear blue test.....
Just done another test and I can't really see a line yet.....
This is a bit of a surprise to be honest! It would mean my third! Scary!

Ladies - come on now, you know the rules!

First thing in the morning use a cheapie. If it's a positive then confirm with a digi if you feel the need.

Stop putting yourself through this and follow the rules!

loulou1982 · 06/12/2010 20:06

hi buttonmoon, thanks for the advice :) i didn't know there was a 'best' time to actually take the test so i'll give that a go tomorrow morning......fingers crossed!

CrazyChristmasLady · 06/12/2010 20:20

Fingers crossed for you both!!

midori1999 · 06/12/2010 21:03

I have done probably hundreds of tests over the last 18 months. I have found Asda the best of the easily available brands. Detect HCG from 15ml and never got an evap with one. I have got nasty evaps with Tesco and especially Superdrug tests.

Other than that, a digital will give a definite result, but they aren't as sensitive as some other tests as they only show a positive from 25ml HCG.

Fortress · 07/12/2010 07:24

Hi again didn't know if anyone wanted an update....
I just took a clearblue test (not digital though) and it came up positive!
Although I feel like I'm going to get my period any minute and I've had some spotting this morning....
I know they can be pregnancy symptoms. Funny you'd think having a third i'd be less worried....
Thanks for all the comments and advice!
Good luck loulou!

Thanks Fortress and congratulations :) took my test again this morning with one of the cheapo sainsburys tests and came up negative, plus I think my period is here now as I have some bleeding. Feels different though but maybe I'm just being too optimistic

strumpet82 · 07/12/2010 09:52

What is the consensus on brands then?? Is FR the best option??

Fortress · 07/12/2010 09:52

Ah sorry loulou :(
Would you like to know some positives though?
If you're not pregnant you won't have a summer born which can be difficult when school starts (dc1 is summer born and is one of the youngest in his class - everyone is ahead if him :( ). Also you can enjoy a tipple over Christmas?!
I wouldn't say this if you've been trying for ages mind (because that must be very hard for people) but if you get the groove on over Christmas you'll have a nice September born :) (I know teachers who only actively tried for autumn born!)

Thanks Fortress. I'm disappointed but this is only the first month we've been trying and to be honest it might be better just to have some fun and relax about it. And yes, now I can have a little drink or two without worrying :)

I've actually only come off the pill two months ago so do you think perhaps that might have an affect on my body getting back to normal? I've heard that it can take up to 3 months for your cycle to get back to normal

strumpet82 · 07/12/2010 10:32

Good luck loulou1982, I don't think the pill would still be in your system, I think it comes out very quickly.

Fortress · 07/12/2010 10:55

I've heard it depends how long you've been on the pill for? I seem to remember it can take up to a year for your body to get back to normal. However I also know 2 people in RL who took only 2 months to get pregnant.
I think you're right, relax and enjoy! :)

Maybe google information about the pill you were on too.

I want to know what happens! Agree there should be a nosey emoticon!

loulou I think you're right about the pill - it won't still be in your system as such but it can mess up cycles for a while. Also sometimes it's best for these things to settle down first - I had an implant and started TTC as soon as it was removed. I then had an early MC as my body wasn't ready to carry properly. Only a couple of months later I conceived again and am now 21 weeks so I'm sure this will happen for you soon Smile

Fortress not trying to get your hopes up but I had a negative with a normal clear blue test (I had tested pretty early). I knew deep down though that I was pregnant and waited a week or so - took a digital one and it confirmed I was 3 weeks+ Wink

buttonmoon78 · 07/12/2010 17:09

Chessy Fortress has already posted that it's +ve! Grin Do keep up!

Congratulations Fortress and bad luck Loulou - it will happen soon. After this first day or two of AF it's time to look forward to the SWI for the next cycle!

buttonmoon78 · 07/12/2010 17:10

Meant to ask, Fortress Blush

How do you feel about being pg with no 3? What doea your DH think?

Fortress · 07/12/2010 18:23

Hi buttonmoon dh is in shock but happy.
I feel scared but also very excited perhaps more excited than I was second time around....which is surprising! I'm really looking forward to new dinamics of three and especially ds1 reaction as he'll be old enough to understand this time round.
I don't think it's sensible for us to have a third but I feel like I'm incredibly lucky! :)
Still spotting though....

On the other hand Loulou I've been told that when you're immediately off the pill can be a very fertile time so it's probably all just luck.

I was on the pill for 12 years and got pregnant first time of trying. Then had really irregular periods but still got pregnant with DC2 first time of trying as well.

If you've only just started trying then just relax and enjoy it!

Congratulations Fortress :)

deedee321 · 07/12/2010 22:32

Congratulations fortress!

muslimah28 · 08/12/2010 17:55

congratulations fortress! id been following this from last week and just looked to see if you had got a positive! :)

Idlegirl83 · 12/12/2010 20:53

I got pregnant only a couple of weeks after coming off the pill and am now 16+3! I also thought it took a while to get out your system! Grin

fayc84 · 12/12/2010 21:46

It will have been faint because it was taken early so less of the pregnancy hormone in your system. I took a test on the first day of my missed period and didn't see a line in the 10min window. Got ready for work and looked at the test again and there was a definate line. I read and reread the instructions and it said disregard if the line appears after 10mins. We had just started trying and I was really excited but trying not to get my hopes up. Bought another test that day and took it in the evening. Again, a tiny faint line. Went running through to hubby demanding he look at my peed-on stick. He said it was too faint to be a positive and not to take a test again until the following week. We picked up a test over the weekend but I caved early and took it a couple of days later and it was a definate positive! Must've just been a bit early for a clear result the first time. Congratulations on your third Xmas Grin

Hest · 13/12/2010 00:03

You can get a false positive with pregnancy tests, but they are much rarer than false negatives obviously. A false negative is usually just because your body has not yet produced enough of the pregnancy hormone that the test looks for and testing again a few days later will give a better result. A test which is read the next day isn't reliable though, so test again following the pack instructions...If you are hoping you are pregnant, good luck! and if you're not pregnant but trying, best of luck for next month!

Hest · 13/12/2010 00:04

Just realised you posted again FORTRESS and are pregnant...yeaaaaay! congratulations! xxxx

Fortress · 13/12/2010 10:05

Thanks hest and to everyone for your congratulations :)

Told my mum via a text yesterday Blush

Luckily I've just been at my new job long enough to get maternity pay! Thank goodness!

Can't wait to tell ds1 (4) think I should probably wait till I'm 12 weeks though?

Thanks again for all your comments and advice was really appreciated :)
