Hi everyone,
Thought I would start a thread for all us mums to be who are due in May 2011 so that we can support each other. xx

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Chester: My midwife always says if something is worring you give me a call so if yours is the same I think thats a good option. I know the hospitals are so busy its hard to get in sometimes and a stressful enviroment.

I had my 16 week appointment and we only heard the heartbeat a little bit as she said the guidelines now are not to listen at 16 weeks as they can not always find it and then it is distressing. A friend of mine has got an Anglesounds doppler for 20 from Amazon so that might be a good idea for reassurance. I think its going to be a long time between 20 weeks and the birth so might help.

I bought my first baby stuff with the double points on the Tesco clubcard deals and bought a very cute baby gym so looking forward to seeing it on Monday! Think we will start shopping after Christmas after the scan on Dec 21st

Hi everyone, just thought I'd say hi! I'm due to have my first baby 30th May so I just squeeze into this thread! Up until my scan 2 days ago the midwife thought I was 12 weeks gone but I'm actually 15 - can't wait to find out if boy or girl in 5 weeks!

funnylittlekaty · 07/12/2010 07:09

Hi all. Just thought I'd let you know that I felt the baby move for the first time on Sunday night!!! I'm stuck at home in bed with rotten cold so hoping to feel it lots today. It's odd but really really nice! Got the 20 week scan on Monday so will let you know how it goes! Everyone's been very quiet on here recently...have I missed something?! Hope you're all ok and
keeping safe and warm in this chilly weather xxx

Teasie · 07/12/2010 08:23

Congratulations Katy! I'm reading this thread everyday as I love keeping up with everyone but I haven't had a lot to say! We had the 16 wk scan last night and all is really well and the consultant also told us we are having a girl so we are thrilled! Aside from that I don't feel particularly pregnant except for wanting to eat all the time :) btw Katy, hope you feel better soon!

BlueWellies · 07/12/2010 13:56

Hi all, Katy, that's great news. Hoping to feel it soon too - think it is moving in there but nothing definate yet. I'm 18+1 so may still be too early - won't feel real till then I think. Like Teasie, also been reading the thread but not much to say. Ordered some maternity jeans from Next but they've not turned up yet cos of the snow. Had horrible hearburn etc. - anyone else suffering?

BlueHydrangea · 07/12/2010 16:35

Hi all! How are we all coping with the cold? I am hating my daily commute into London. :(

BlueWellies not suffering from heartburn thankfully, but am suffering with bleeding gums! Is anyone else? Went to the the Dentist today and all the blood was crazy!!

cowboylover · 07/12/2010 18:04

Congratulations on your news Teasie! I am looking forward to finding out what we are having but it changes every day what I would be most excited to have.

From early on I was doing really well not having many symptoms at all but feeling it now catching up! Now lost 3 and a half stone as not managed to eat a meal in 10 days with killer heartburn!

BlueHydrangea: Nothing like bleeding gums in the morning to set off the sickness! The dentist told me to keep brushing and brush my gums more but it feels a bit wrong

LabMonkey · 07/12/2010 18:51

Hi, I just had my 16 week appointment (I'm 18.5 weeks - it's a long story) and I got to hear Ziggy's heartbeat. It was very cool then there was a thud - he/she kicked the probe just like in the ultrasound. Don't think he likes being prodded! The midwife was really nice - first time I'd met her - and she agrees that my left thigh going numb when I stand up for 5min or more is the baby resting on a nerve so that's less worrying.

I've not felt any of the "flutterings" that other people talk about but it does feel like I occasionally get an elbow in the gut.

I've not been sick in over a week now which is far more awesome that I had expected. I have now discovered that if when I run he bounces on my bladder which is interesting.

My pile of clothes that I can't fit into/ squish me too much is getting bigger so I reckon I can last to Christmas then the maternity stuff I got from ebay will be making an appearance!

Teasie · 07/12/2010 20:16

Cowboy- three and a half stone!? Wow! You must not look pregnant!
I get the bleeding gums on occasion and the heartburn has started but it's nothing compared to the morning sickness Grin

chester21 · 08/12/2010 11:58

Hi, hope u ladies are all well went to see my midwife the other day, and she reassuredme that all is fine still didnt hear a heartbeat still got a couple of weeks till my 20 week scan even though i will be 21 weeks then still uuming and aahhing weather to find out dp wants to and i am staeting to change my mind and not want to find out.finally we have agreed on names that we like for both girl and boy.

I still feel totally unpregnant but bump looking rounder than usual today.

growing3rdbump · 08/12/2010 19:26

Great news Chester! I also had midwife appt this wk and got to hear the heartbeat, which also put my mind at rest! We have 20 wk scan on xmas eve and we plan to find out baby sex this time. We did find out with DD, but not with DS, which was a lovely surprise - feel we need to know this time so we can organise bedrooms with appropriate furniture as DS will have to give up his cotbed soon and get a new bed in his tiny room... or switch rooms... it's all very complicated! Also, have horded all baby clothes for boy and girl and would like to offload one or the other! Can u disclose name u are liking?!

growing3rdbump · 08/12/2010 19:26

'names' I mean.

chester21 · 08/12/2010 22:33

of course growing3rdbump all opinions are greatly received

We r thinking of Christopher Rhys for a boy and either Laura Jane or Zoe Jane for a girl

Still need another boys name though but with the oh surname being a bit different cant have anything that rhymes such as Ollie.

I was hoping that at 18 weeks she would try to heat the heartbeat but i think cus in the new year i am moving midwife as i will be moving in with oh that there isnt a need to do so

I also have my scan on 23rd which i am strangely exited about as well as nervous can u tell this is my first child.

I think i have been feeling this little one but not to sure supose time will tell.

I hope all is well with u and ur family take care

growing3rdbump · 09/12/2010 09:22

All lovely names! Zoe was on list for our first. I have a list of names I like, but DH doesn't like them... We already have a Nyah Katherine and Ethan Alexander, so need something to go with those two. I really like Esme, Sasha, Tamsin, Sofia with either Elizabeth, Charlotte or Rose for middle name - just hoping he'll agree to my favourite - Esme!

I'm sorry I read your previous post wrong and thought you had heard heartbeat. There was a student midwife at my appt and she listened for it and took a while to find it! Baby is so low down (hairline) and midwife said it's still so tiny it can move about and be difficult to find - just wondering what this big bump is all about if baby is down there and still so small!!! Christmas is going to be a very exciting time with all these scans and halfway points!!!

BlueHydrangea · 09/12/2010 09:51

Is anyone else suffering from hormones? Just had to stand for the entire journey on the tube (which is never pleasant to stand up on for a while at any time) and got really teary about it by the time I reached my stop. Didn't help that another pregnant woman was offered a seat... and then her husband kindly barged into me when he left the train, I'm sure he wouldn't want someone doing that to his wife.. Just really upset me, and yet it's so silly and trival! Ah hormones....

Sorry to complain, but feel so much better for sharing

brillopads · 09/12/2010 09:51

17 +1
My most recent symptom is... an itchy back!!! Anyone else ?
Reading about it I think it's just a symptom of skin stretching (eek!) so more of a minor irritation than anything to worry about. Perhaps I should start lathering on the supposed "anti-stretch mark" lotions- anyone recommend any?

In other news it's the work "Xmas Do" tomorrow. For one reason & another I wasn't going to go, but someone else has dropped out so I can take their place, but would have to have their menu choice. She'd ordered the Cheese plate for dessert, doh! Perhaps they can swap it for well, anything else, in the case of a pregnant lady ...?

Bubandbump · 09/12/2010 11:42

Ahh itchy back - had this for weeks! I have been using the bio oil on it too which seems to help a bit. I am 20 weeks this weekend and just seem to have popped out and the bloating has now gone down so look properly pregnant (despite having being in maternity clothes since week 12). Cowboylover I too have lost loads of weight 2 stone so far but some of it was due to stress waiting for cvs test results to come back. The doctor has signed me off work..again... But still have full on morning sickness and no sign of it going- think it might be as my hcg levels are so so high.

The one good thing about having a cvs is that we've had about 1 scan or heartbeat monitoring a week and have seen literally every inch of the little baby and now it's started kicking me, makes me feel that everything is ok. Just dh wants to feel it and baby just needs to learn to kick a bit harder!

The other thing is that they tested the sex as part of the chromosome tests so the hospital definitely know whether it's a boy or girl and I have so far managed to resist ringing up to ask them but very tempted...

thelizard · 09/12/2010 13:18

Hi all, have been reading avidly.. Am due mid may with my third. Due to previous miscarriages, have been really nervous about this one, but all seems to be going well so far. Glad to hear everyone is doing well, especially coming up to half way, from memory the next 10weeks while you are hopefully feeling better go a little quicker, than the last ten, especially last 1 week if you go over...

Anyway was just after a little advice... Last night, while hanging out mittens to dry, on a clothes aired, I pulled something in my back and have struggled to move since then. Sounds ridiculous, I just leant forward slightly to place one tiny mitten and my back went! Any one had anything similar? Rang nhs direct but only paracetemol and hot/cold compresses. Feeling a bit sorry for myself, I teach 2 days a week and am home today feeling very guilty. Also cannot pick up or cuddle my two little boys, and my poor husband has been up all night wi them coughing and helping me to the loo! On the plus side, at least we now know what it may be like when we are old and wrinkly!!

Probably nothing else I can do, just wanted to moan a bit, sorry!

Xxx

thelizard · 09/12/2010 13:19

Ps itchy back? Try oilatum bath stuff and cream, I use it for my son with eczema and it really works for me!

Teasie · 09/12/2010 20:38

Hi Lizard! Glad all is going well for you except the back, of course! In the past, I've strained my neck while putting my underwear on and bloody painful it was! It's funny how random stuff like that happens :) I've started using Palmers massage cream for stretch marks- it's quite rich but doing the trick with the itching

LabMonkey · 09/12/2010 21:04

I've been trying to use cocoa butter but it makes my eczema insane. TBH my eczema's gone mad since I got pregnant and it's not getting any better. Might have to be scars as usual for me :(

spendalittlelivealot · 09/12/2010 21:21

Hello, Im 15+2 with baby number 4!!!!!! due date 31st may so prob be a june baby, but thought id say hi:)

titchinmytum · 10/12/2010 08:49

Yes bring it on! Looking forward to the 20th when we have our big morphology scan. This little one moves around alot which makes me feel more reassured that whoever is in there will be ok (our baby's nuchal measurement was high & that can be associated with heart problems-seems as strong as an ox though from all the trampolining going on in there!).
I am planning on bringing my 3 others to the scan & can't wait to see their faces.
Hope all is going well with & the awful morning sickness has left you. Thought I would never be able to drink a cup of tea again for a while there!

growing3rdbump · 10/12/2010 13:01

Hi Lizard - I too am pregnant with 3rd, due mid may and also teach two days a wk! It's hard to take time off when a part-timer, but it's important to look after your back well! I've had back problems in the past due to a 'bulging disc'. It started before having children when I leant forward and it went suddenly and it also went badly when my first was only a couple of months old (I remember being in complete agony as my husband tried to sit me up to feed my daughter in the middle of the night). I had physio which recommended gentle backbends to get the disc back in right place... but maybe check with your doctor first!
Hope you are all feeling well apart from the itching/stretching etc!

mojo1981 · 10/12/2010 16:18
