Ok bump has finally defeated my jeans in the battle of my wardrobe, it has gradually been taking on each garment and picking them off one by one....

Any suggestions for good maternity jeans? Would like something comfortable and trendy, without costing the earth.

LondonCityGirl · 23/11/2010 17:13

Hi Blue Hydrangea,

My best best for maternity clothes is Asos online. They have a huge range of stylish maternity clothes that don't cost the earth. I got some maternity peg trousers and swimsuit from there and they're both brill. They've got lots of jeans too.

And for those who followed my post a month back about the bleeding I was having over a month-long period... I went for a 16 week scan and I do have a sub-chorionic hematoma. But they don't seem to be worried about it as it's small and bleeding's stopped now so I'm a much more chill-axed pregnant lady!

JBrd · 23/11/2010 19:23

I also bought a stack of clothes from Asos, and I found a really comfortable pair of jeans at Next Maternity, they had quite a good selection of different styles. New Look also does cheap & cheerful maternity clothes.

Am still looking for a decent mat skirt, though...

ariadnestar · 23/11/2010 20:13

London that's great news- they really don't seem too worried about the SCHs do they? I stopped bleeding after 3 weeks so fingers crossed we've both seen the back of them. So glad to hear that it's small and you can relax a bit now :)

Tibbo81 · 24/11/2010 03:09

Hello Ladies,
Not been on for a while so apologies now if its a long post!

We've had our first scan and everythings hunky dorey, they've moved my due date forward by 6days to the 20/05/2010 and have told me that i'm 14wks+5. my next scan is booked in for the 31/12/2010, we've met our midwife and had our booking scan. It was really strange seeing Tiny Tibbs as we've nick named it bouncing around inside of me. Although it still not really sunk in and i don't think it will till he/she arrives.

I would like to say that all the sickness and nasty symptoms have gone, but i'm now suffering with headaches and if i don't eat start to feel sick!!

I've also had to invest in some maternity clothes as only my really old baggy jeans fit at the moment. Also went and had my boobs measured the other day and was somewhat
disheartened when i was told i'd gone up to and F cup!! on the plus side my back has stayed the same size, so DH taking me shopping on saturday (not sure if its really for me or him) but i won't complain.

Speak to you all soon
Tibbo xx

Tibbo81 · 24/11/2010 03:10

Sorry that should read 20/05/2011 not 2010!

JBrd · 25/11/2010 15:46

Just came back from the 16wk mw appointment, where we got to hear the heartbeat. Aawwwww....:)

BlueHydrangea · 25/11/2010 16:21

Hi all,

JBrd awww that's so exciting!! What was it like as I don't have a 16wk appointment? Has anyone else got a long wait (apart from 20wk scan) till they next see the midwife?

Thanks London and JBrd for the shopping tips, didn't realise that ASOS had a maternity section; going to hit the shops next week after pay day!!

BlueWellies · 25/11/2010 17:33

Me too JBrd! So fab to hear the little racing heartbeat at last! All seems to be going to plan - there's still a baby there, yeay!

Ng1412 did you say yours was today too? How did it go for you?

Bit worried today as took friend of mine to hospital for scare yesterday at 31 weeks - 'threatened premature labour' - but think everything is ok for them now. Relief. Felt a bit funny discussing birth options with the mw when it might not work out like that!

cowboylover · 25/11/2010 18:27

I saw my Doc today and he said to check something at my 16 week appointment and I didnt know I had to have one and was ment to ring weeks ago for the appointment, who is ment to tell you these things! lol

I am looking forward to hearing the heartbeat as been feeling really ill for the last few days after 6 days of an upset tummy so could do with some reasurance that I have not made bean poorly as well.

Clueless79 · 25/11/2010 21:20

Hi, I've not posted on here for ages but read every day...I'm mostly too tired!!! Otherwise fine but just wondered if I'm alone in feeling like I have a massive tummy?! Looking in the mirror this evening I'm sure I looked 6 months pregnant never mind just about 4. When I read other comments it's mostly people complaining they're not showing but I feel like a bit of a fraud cos I'm not sure I am 'showing' just have a really fat tummy! And wasn't thin to begin with, size 16-18. That's the other thing, us larger ladies aren't meant to have anything to show for ourselves for longer than everyone else! Humph, half question, half rant...what is the state of other's mid sections?!

Clueless79 · 25/11/2010 21:21

Grr I hate misplaced apostrophes! Others', sorry!

ng1412 · 25/11/2010 21:39

BlueWellies, I am such an airhead (worse now than ever), my appointment is next Thursday not today..haha. My brain is just not working right now, I opened the back door this evening after cooking to get rid of the smell and completely forgot about it until I said to DH that I was chilly and could feel a draft...Well done that you heard a heartbeat, can't wait for my appointment now.

Clueless79 I wouldn't worry, I am the same, I have a definite bump and it's getting bigger by the day!!

chester21 · 26/11/2010 12:27

I am 18 weeks pregnant and was wondering if its too soon to start buying some toiletries for baby j and start stocking up on nappies and bibs etc. this is my first pregnancy so i have no idea what the heck i am ment to do. Any advice

growing3rdbump · 26/11/2010 12:42

I think you're supposed to make your 16 wk appt yourself - I am trying to phone up to make mine for next week - you should def have one as it's the time the do bloods for downs/spina bifida etc I think.

Clueless - I'm defo looking pregnant! I'm usually quite small, but this is 3rd baby and things are not looking good!!! I always put on loads of weight during pregnancy, but do eventually get back in shape by 6 months or so (after finished breastfeeding and boobs return to normal size!).

Chester - what kind of toiletries do you want to buy? You could buy some first size nappies, but not too many packs as they do grow quite quickly and you can end up with unused packs! We have clothes from first two children stashed away and I will start sorting through stuff eventually... however I do recommend only buying essentials and seeing what you need as you go along.

Are you all enjoying this stage of pregnancy? I'm feeling so much better, although still very tired - Once kids are in bed I have been following them soon after and was asleep by 9pm last night!

missemmajane · 27/11/2010 10:28

Chester21 - I am 16 weeks and its my first, I have brought a few nappies and wipes and stored them away, plus I have brought some little bibs and a baby grow but mainly because it was just too cute!! I think ill stop there at least until after Christmas when I have had my 20 weeks scan. But from people I have spoken too buying a few nappies etc... at the stage seems quite normal!
x

JBrd · 27/11/2010 10:39

We haven't bought anything yet....just been given some baby clothes by friends, that's all we got at the moment. Started looking at prams and pushchairs yesterday - blimey, so confusing, there is so much out there! It's my 1st, too, and I have no idea about what we need/don't need. But I'm certain that I won't be paying £800 for a pushchair, that's for sure!

chester21 · 27/11/2010 13:40

been quite lucky as quite a few of our friends have had babies in the last 6 months and we have been given quite q lot of essentials that are hardly used so that has saved us some money.

LabMonkey · 27/11/2010 23:35

We got a full travel system including 2 car seat bases (we're going to keep both our cars as DH works shifts and I don't want to be stranded until baby is old enough to go on bike trailer) off ebay for £77. We only looked at pick up only ones within 25mile radius of our village and I was surprised how much is on there.

Freecycle is also a good source of baby stuff - we've started looking now so that we can pick stuff up as it comes along rather than trying to acquire/buy everything at the last minute.

clarabella18 · 30/11/2010 21:55

Lots of organised Mtb on here! I've not even started sorting Xmas yet let alone baby stuff!

Had an appointment with the midwife today for some bloods to be taken and she asked if j wante her to try for the heartbeat. I'm only 15+6 and she was very clear from the start that we might not get it today. She switched the Doppler on and about 5 seconds after sticking it on my tum there it was pounding away as loud as anything sounding like a galloping race horse. Was fantastic had forgotten how great it feels to hear that sound!

titchinmytum · 01/12/2010 01:07

Hello everyone! My 4th is due on May 12th so I am 17 weeks tomorrow, and feeling a good few flips & flops from the little one in my tummy. It has been a rocky road & so it has been great to read all your comments & how you're all ticking along. This one came after a m/c in May, and my nuchal scan showed a 1 in 17 chance of Downs. I had CVS which came back clear ( massive massive relief after a week of tears) & following that I had a big haematoma in my tummy which has left me black & blue. I'm normally pretty fit & run alot but since about 9 weeks I have done nothing except walk the dog. I must say i'm feeling better & better every day now that I'm into the second trimester but it has been alot different & scarier than my previous 3.

Bubandbump · 01/12/2010 09:16

Hi titchintummy, I haven't been on here for a while as mainly been on the antenatal tests threads. I am due 9th May and I too had high risks, 1 in 4 and had the cvs and got the preliminary results back and cardiac scan clear. Lots more tests results and scans to go for us due to our risks but I can finally get excited about being pregnant. Again part of my probabilities were my super high hcg results at 4x normal which I think have contributed to me feeling awful all the way through. Thankfully the fog seems to be starting to lift now though but I agree, this is the most terrifying thing I have ever been through. We only have a few more weeks though and then we will be half way through!

chester21 · 04/12/2010 12:43

can i ask some advice from you lovely ladies. Can i call my mw and ask for an appointment to hear the heartbeat i am 18 weeks and not getting my 20 week scan till i am 21 weeks so got a while to wait and i am getting paranoid that i feel so unpregnant or do u have any other advice that can put this first time mums mind at ease.

growing3rdbump · 04/12/2010 14:20

Chester I'm going through exactly the same worries - I feel totally unpregnant (except for the bump) at the moment and it's really starting to worry me! I think I've had a few flutterings, but still cant be sure (as it's my 3rd I think I was just expecting to have felt things properly by now...) I have my 16 wk appt (a wk late) on tue and I'm going to ask then to hear heartbeat. I'm sure you could ring and ask and explain it's really worrying you. I did think I might make something up (like a slip in the snow) and go in to get checked and monitored in the day unit - but obviously that is quite drastic and a bit naughty!!!!) You could probably just phone the day unit at hosp and say you are worried and they may offer for you to go in a be monitored anyway - worth a try?! Also I'm sure we're worrying about nothing - this is totally normal and most people dont feel anything until a few wks from now.
