Hi everyone,
Thought I would start a thread for all us mums to be who are due in May 2011 so that we can support each other. xx

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I know this might sound a bit over organised but we're trying to slowly accumulate stuff that we'll need next May. We're keeping an eye on freecycle/ebay for cheap reusable nappies and some other bits that we can't borrow from others (been offered the loan of a lie down pram and 0-6months car seat and cot from my folks). We were looking around at moses baskets and stands etc and found this: www.amazon.co.uk/Disney-learning-Moses-Basket-folding/dp/B002UQ3RTI/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&s=baby&qid=1288896279&sr=8-6 which is way cheaper than anything we've seen anywhere else. It's arrived and looks grand. Just thought I'd give you all a heads up!

cowboylover · 04/11/2010 19:00

Ahh that looks cute LabMonkey! I have started looking but not buying yet as I want to get Christmas over with first or I dont think I will be able to fit it all in the house! The 'nursery' as we have started calling it still contains 3 years worth of junk we didnt know where else to put!

MoppingMummy · 04/11/2010 20:44

Hi all, hope you're feeling well. We had nuchal scan today and got the brilliant news we are very low risk. The consultant even made a prediction that it's a girl based on the flatness of that end! He said he was 95% certain of this, even though I'm only 12.5wks!
We already have a DD and DS, but was pleased to hear it looks like another girl!
We dont have space for a 'nursery' as have the kids in their own rooms, so the baby could be in with us for possibly up to a year, or until it can be moved in with my DD. Will probably need a new mattresses for cot and moses basket, and a new stroller, but apart from that hoping we wont have to spend to much money this time!

mojo1981 · 05/11/2010 07:20

Hello! Haven't posted on here for a couple of weeks, had my first scan on wednesday and i am now 14 + 4 not 14 wks like i thought so my due date is now 2nd may (not the 6th) so only just creeping in here too!!

cried at the scan cos as a lot of you have said that you don't really feel pregnant i felt the same so was quite a shock to actually see our baby wriggling around in there lol.

but funnily enough, i now feel pregnant!
couldn't have the NT measurement as i was too far gone so now have to have a blood test in the next few weeks (don't like them :( ).

Can't believe that in just a few weeks we will be able to find out what we are having, although now convinced im having a boy (previously convinced it was a girl, don't know why but as soon as the scan was finished i was saying "him" lol.

any fears and panics i had about being a mum have gone, now all i want is to hold that little baby in my arms :)

emmah194 · 05/11/2010 07:59

congratulations mojo1981 - we're due on the same day! The last part of your post has made me all tearful, I've been spending so much time worrying about labour and coping with a newborn that I hadn't stopped to think about just holding my baby in my arms - so thank you so much for the wee reminder that something (or should that be someone) completely amazing comes out of all of this :)

chester21 · 06/11/2010 14:42

hi everyone hope u are all feeling well.

I am at a loss for the past few days i feel so ...... (i dont know how i feel)

I am 14+2 want to get stuff but think it may be a tad too soon still havent heard the heartbeat yet and am in a bit of limbo. I anyone else feeling like that any advice on what i can do

Teasie · 06/11/2010 21:23

Hi Chester, I read that getting a heartbeat that early is rare. I'm sure everything is fine :)

cowboylover · 07/11/2010 18:43

Have u had a scan yet Chester?

I spent Friday shopping with my mum fir ideas and so far disappointed with the mainstream shops so I hope to be able to spend some time in a few baby boutiques. Or something in the hope of finding something just a little different but not expensive!!

Saturday I went to visit my friend and her newborn and I loved every bit of it even his little crys so I am really excited for me and DH to be experiencing it for ourselves after feeling so low last week.

Got another scan on tuesday and DH was talking to the bump this morning to get ready for its photo shoot and get it's face in!! I was smiling so much x

BlueWellies · 08/11/2010 12:03

Hey everyone,
Haven't posted for a while but great to hear what is going on with everyone (exciting news about twins etc.), and know that others worries are the same (work, money) - and that there is some excitement too (shopping)!
Haven't really got the excitement yet, but stared telling work (really positive) and family(emotionally delighted) the last few days so guess it may start feeling real. Still waiting for a bump (apparently it just pops out?) as just feeling fat still (14 weeks today). Went for flu jab now, and nurse was like 'why are you here'? As I didn't look at all pregnant!

clarabella18 · 08/11/2010 22:48

Got my first antenatel appointment in the morning including my scan (I'm presuming as the letter I got was so lacking in detail it was unbelievable!) really looking forward to it. Am hoping everything will start to seem a bit more real and I can finally start telling people!

LabMonkey · 09/11/2010 07:11

I'm definitely starting to show now and I just can't keep it sucked in any more. I'm also not being sick so much - mostly just once a day now and it's just acid rather than food so I reckon I can reel in my massive food consumption. I managed a couple of short runs to work last week so hopefully I'll start feeling less knackered soon too.

Got my first cycle to work in a couple of week (I had knackered one of my tyres) so I'll see if that makes me sick or not.

JBrd · 09/11/2010 18:02

Had my scan last week and good the screening blood test results yesterday - all looking good and really low risk for Downs, hooray! So relieved now, with such a low risk I feel confident to not do any further testing, phew.

And it was great to see that I actually haven't just been imagining things :)

Bought my first pair of maternity trousers last week, have outgrown everything except my stretchy skirts. I feel really fat (esp after seeing some photos that were taken at the w/e!), and I really hope the sickness stops soon!

clarabella18 · 09/11/2010 19:05

Spent over four bors at the hospital for my scan and first antenatel which was a bit of a nightmare!
The scan went ok, he's in there wriggling around and waving quiet happily couldn't get a good picture though so had to have an internal scan too which was oh so pleasant! Not!'still couldn't get a decent pic so back again in a fortnight for more measurements. It looks like my dates were spot on though so edd is 18 may ( my birthday!)
Also told ds tonight who's 8 he was over the moon even told menhe was speechless although he wants to call it willie if it's a boy! Not sure about that one.
So finally it's all feeling real

MoppingMummy · 09/11/2010 20:20

Brillant news! My DD arrived two weeks early 2 days before my birthday - hooray Hmm!!! My DS was due 18th May (4 yrs ago), but came a week early on 11th. This one's due on 16th May and I'm desperately hoping it doesn't make an arrival on DS's birthday!!!

suedehead · 09/11/2010 21:25

hi ladies
glad you're all doing well, and your scans are lovely too!

i've got a stinking cold at the moment. getting a bit fed up with it. taken the day off work (which i never do!) as i think it's about time i just rest it better. i normally just get dosed up and carry on - being ill just doesn't suit me!

told my work on friday. think i eventually got a congratulations from my boss...! told a few more in the office and at least three people asked me if it was planned - am i the only person who thinks this is really rude?! DH reckons it's because people don't really know what to say but still!

glad i'm not the only one who's worked her way into maternity clothes already. we live near the mamas and papas factory shop so am stocking up at bargain prices!

Queenofthehill · 09/11/2010 21:52

Hello, fellow darling buds of May. I had my booking scan today - little pickle wouldn't stay still for a minute, poor sonographer had her work cut out! But all good news, bloods good. Hurrah! Maternity jeans here I come. (DD 19 May.) x

nancy10 · 10/11/2010 10:22

Hi, I thought I'd join too! Have been reading the thread for ages now but because I had a miscarriage in April was too nervous about joining. I'm 15 weeks pregnant with my 4th baby and am due on the 3rd May! Still suffering from sickness, although it's starting to ease off a bit. I'm slowly moving over to maternity clothes now. i've bought a couple of really cheap bits on ebay, can't stand jeans at the moment (make me feel sick) so have started wearing dresses with leggings and boots which are really comfy!

Teasie · 10/11/2010 21:03

Hi Everyone and welcome to Nancy :) I had my scan today and it was good- lots of wriggling around and we got the heartbeat too! I opted for the combined downs screen so awaiting news on that. Due date is now slightly reviewed so due on 23 rd rather than the 27th. Everything is getting tight so I'm going to follow Nancy's lead and opt for leggings and boots combo as my usual uniform of jeans and tops is looking too muffin for my liking! I hope everyone is well!

cowboylover · 10/11/2010 22:13

suedehead I love that question! I would not dream of asking anyone that but I think it was presumed with us as we have only recently got married. I think the 4 questions I constantly get asked are:
When is it due?
How are you feeling?
Are you going to find out what it is?
Have you thought of any names yet?

Nice to know people are thinking of us though Smile

Welcome Nancy! I hope you feel better soon. Im due 15th May so 13 weeks and just starting to feel better or am I getting used to it?

nancy10 · 12/11/2010 11:27

Woohoo! I have felt almost 'normal' for 6 days!!! I am nearly 16 weeks so it's about flippin time!

chester21 · 12/11/2010 12:35

hi all been a few days since i was on here.

hi cowboylover hope all kid well i had my scan a couple of weeks ago and all seemed well seeing the midwife on tuesday so will be 15+6 so hopefully i will be far enough along to hear the heartbeat. i am so glad that i am not the only one starting to have to buy new clothes although tops are ok i need new trouers, where is best to get them without paying through the nose for then and what size do u get.

cowboylover · 12/11/2010 19:53

chester I am plus size so not many options but if you are under an 18 Next, New Look and Dority Perkins do nice ranges and priced the same or similar as there standard ranges. Get the same size as you normally wear and they are designed to accomodate your new shape with extra bump!

Im looking forward to hearing the heatbeat as at the moment I have seen the colours moving on the screen that the consultant tol me where the heartbeat moves so that will be nice.

Glad your feeling better nancy.

I am having a quiet night with my mum tonight in the hope I can manage a full day of sport and poker tomorrow Grin

LabMonkey · 14/11/2010 18:25

Hey, is anyone else getting insane headaches? I've had one every day for 3 days now - I caved and took some paracetamol (I am prone to really bad headaches and non-pregnant I would take codeine) which has taken the edge off but not made it disappear.

Any ideas?

sum04 · 14/11/2010 18:34

Hi,
Im also due end of may.
Having a stitch (cervical suture) fitted this thursday due to having a short cervix.
Had my daughter at 29 weeks, so with my son I had a stitch and had him at 37 weeks.
Had my 12 week scan a few days ago and alls well, so hopefully everything goes ok with the stitch and i carry full term.

sum04 · 14/11/2010 18:36

Forgot to mention, im due the 31st may, but if it's anything like last time when the doctor took my stitch out at 37 weeks, i will be going into labour that night, so will be 3 weeks early, begining of may.
