Hi everyone,
Thought I would start a thread for all us mums to be who are due in May 2011 so that we can support each other. xx

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mumandabump · 12/10/2010 11:37

hi all

i'm new to mumsnet, with one 2 ear old and one on the way.

The posts for May babies are so helpful, many thanks.

From the posts I've seen I'm worried I've got my dates wrong as some posts talk about being due mid May and being 6 weeks pregnant.

I last had my period on 22nd august so thought I was 7 weeks ish and due end of May - am I wrong?

thanks in advance

fayc84 · 12/10/2010 11:45

Hi mumandbump - I think your calculations are right. My last period started Aug 23 and mw says I'm due May 28 and am 7 weeks now. So you'll be due May 27 - great time to be born, as it's my birthday!

mumandabump · 12/10/2010 11:49

thanks so much that makes perfect sense! lovely time of the year too.

Hope you are feeling ok.

BlingLoving · 12/10/2010 14:00

Bluewellies - I think the 1% chance of miscarriage thing is based on the fact that the 7 week scan showed the baby to be entirely within normal range in terms of size and position etc with a strong "flutter" or heartbeat. ie, if you had a scan at 7 weeks and the baby wasn't at the right size or the heartbeat wasn't visible, then you would still be in a higher risk category (not that you would miscarry but that the chances of it are more like 15%).

Leigh30 · 12/10/2010 18:42

Hi people,
first off a massive congratulations to you all. I am also pregnant and am due 14th May. I have had my booking appt with the midwife, and am just waiting to get a date for my first scan.
I wanted to ask a question about morning sickness as it has really been getting me down.
Has anyone had any relief from this yet? i am sick everytime i eat or drink anything and feel sick all the time with no relief.
I feel really guilty as at times i have wished not to be pregnant any more so i can stop feeling to ill all the time.
Has anyone else experienced this? this is my first baby and something that my husband and i really wanted, and i just wish i could start to enjoy it.
Sorry to be on a downer, but could use a bit of support.
Thanks guys.
L.x

cowboylover · 12/10/2010 18:57

Leigh30 We are due 2 days appart!

I hope it will settle soon, I was really suffering all night last 2 weeks but feeling a little better every day.

Maybe worth a vist or chat with your MW as I know there is medication available to help with severe sickness which it sounds like your having, especially as its making you feel so low. But dont worry you can share here and it wont mean you dont care or want your baby any less; I think after the 4th night of limited sleep I said the same

Leigh30 · 12/10/2010 19:09

thank you cowboylover, it is so good to be able to say things out loud (so to speak!!!) and not just think it in my head. I think i will phone my GP surgery tomorrow and go and speak to them, if i can just get a little respite i know i will start to enjoy being pregnant as it is something i have wanted for ages now.
On the positive side, my husband has been amazing and has taken over all the chores in the house for me so i can just rest when i am not at work, Cant wait til im 12 weeks and can then tell more people.
Am really glad to hear that you are starting to feel better - i hope that continues for you.
x

Bubandbump · 12/10/2010 20:18

Leigh, I feel your pain, For about the past 4 weeks have felt awful and felt exactly as you described. The doctor signed me off last week when I went and immediately burst into tears. I too have wanted this for ages but now am pregnant and not enjoying it- I think part of the problem is that I always imagined pregnancy to be full of blooming and nesting and my main focus has been trying to get some food inside me and sleeping. But..I am 9 weeks now and feel like it's starting to pass a little enough to become bearable. There will be an end and looking at the other posts on here, at least being sick stops some of the worry about having no symptoms!

Teasie · 12/10/2010 21:06

Leigh and Bubandbump, thanks for sharing with us. I have tried not thinking about being pregnant because I get so infuriated with the sickness I end up wishing I wasn't pregnant and then I feel guilty. So in my mind, I try believing it's just a sickness. I'm now 8 weeks and up until last week, I had no symptoms at all- it has hit me like a brick wall :) MN has been fab- went through all the threads on morning sickness and based on advice, I'm now taking Gaviscon for the worst bits- very effective! Ginger biscuits are rubbish but crisps seem to do the trick as well. I am so looking forward to the sickness being over so I can resume my routine somewhat :)

funnylittlekaty · 12/10/2010 21:16

Haven't been on here for a while as I was worried that all I was doing was moaning but am delighted to say that after a truly grim few weeks, (nausea but no vomiting, mostly at night, blinding headaches and extreme fatigue...!) I am now feeling human again. Belive me Teasie I really feel your pain but bear with it, it does pass and you'll soon start to feel like yourself again. I haven't cried for 2 whole days, it's a bleeding miracle! I'm 11+2 now and have the long awaited booking appt tomorrow morning whoop whoop! Any advice on what I need to talk to the midwife about? Feel like I've waited for so long I don't want to miss anything crucial...suggestions? xxx
PS Leigh30, do you think its hyperemesis? If you can't keep water down you should go back to the docs sharpish. Hope you feel better soon

Teasie · 12/10/2010 21:23

Thanks funnylittlekaty- please tell us how your booking appt goes as I've no idea what happens in real lide- only what the book says! Leigh30- my sister had hyperemesis and was sick right from the first day; it is pretty yuck and the doctor should take you seriously! My DH is away at the moment and I am so happy he can't see me slobbed on the couch, eating rubbish and watching complete trash on Sky1 :)

missemmajane · 13/10/2010 11:47

Hey ladies!

Anyone NOT needing to go to the loo all the time??? I know its such a massive symptom of early pregnancy 'weeing' all the time but im not really anymore than usual, I think im drinking enough - could always drink more I guess!! Ive been to the docs to be checked for a urine infection as this could be a problem, but it was all fine!!

Its just one of those silly things since I fell pregnant that sit worrying in my head all day - and I can't believe how unrational it seems "why am I not weeing all the time" - how ridiculous!!! This happening to anyone else????

chickenblueeyes · 13/10/2010 12:28

Hi everyone and congratulations to you all. After six months or so of trying for our second baby we finally got the news that I was expecting - woo hoo! Due 11 May according to midwife, but son was just over 2 weeks early so who knows really! Since I found out been really sick (as per my other thread) but I know it's all worth it as we are so exicted and looking forward to meeting baby number two. I can't wait till I get a proper bump showing - feels so special. Hope everyone is doing well. Sending big hugs to all. xx

newmaman · 13/10/2010 18:10

Hello everyone.
I haven't been here for a little while. I have been feeling very rubbish with nausea.I am 7 week now. I am not actually sick but I have gone of food and drinks but ironicaly when I don't eat for long it gets worst. It is nice to share with you ladies as I feel I am always moaning to my DH.

Missemmajane Like you I haven't needed to go to the loo very much. It could be because I don't drink enough. But I read that it is a symptom not everyone gets. So I wouldn't worry.

Leight30 like funnylittlekaty I think you should go to your gp as soon as possible. A friend of mine had Hyperemesis. She has a beautiful DD now. But she did feel like you at the begining she was not enjoying her pregnancy but she soon bloomed, loved food again and enjoyed every minute of it. Hope you feel better soon.

cowboylover · 13/10/2010 18:35

missemmajane In the first 6 weeks I was going all the time getting up at least a few times in the night but now at 10 weeks (I think) I am back to normal and at least able to sleep til 6am without getting up.

Symptoms are wierd things as they haunted us all the way through the 2 week waits and if the symptons are real or not and now in pregnancy it seams to be the same! Smile

BlueWellies · 13/10/2010 22:50

Hi all,

Have my booking appointment tomorrow, and excited that it may all seem real - though MW might just tell me to go away and stop being so silly. Still pretty symptomless (should be happy about it but doesn't seem like can really be PG), I'm not weeing any more than usual missemmajane, am not particularly tired, and hunger nausea seems to have worn off a bit now, though still getting odd bits, sometimes just after I've eaten so can't be hungry!

Thanks for reply re MC blingloving, 15% even sounds quite encouraging. Great news though for you that all is ok and to have that reassurance!

Cowboylover, not being able to rely on regular treatment is the worst, I could only rely on drugs before to know I'd be ok with the IBS, and now I don't even have that reassurance! Hope you feel better soon.

LabMonkey · 14/10/2010 17:59

Firstlt - WOOHOO! 48 hours without being sick - I never thought I'd feel human again. Cycling's still a bit tough and if I'm clear until the weekend I'll try a wee run.

I don't know if it's the lack of exercise or the amount of food needed to stop me feeling sick (it wasn't ALL doughnuts) but I think I'm starting to show a wee bit. I'm 11 weeks tomorrow and I can't really feel my abs any more and I can't even suck it in. Does that sound right? I'm normally a size 10/12 for everything except trousers if that makes any difference.

suedehead · 14/10/2010 18:42

hey ladies
sounds like everyone's coming along nicely on here. lots of good wishes to those of you struggling with sickness. touch wood, i've been ok so far.

just got my letter about my scan - v excited! it's on monday, which doesn't give me much notice! should be able to get some time off work, and there's not enough time between now and then for anyone to grill me about what will inevitably be a lame excuse for taking the afternoon off...

has anyone else had their scan yet? this is DC1 so have no idea what to expect (apart from what i've seen on tv!)
will be 11 weeks by monday, so probably not as much to see as i would have hoped, but at least i'll be able to check everything's as hoped and, if so, get blabbing a week early!

any tips / advice welcome! (about all i know about is the full bladder thing...)

Caz10 · 14/10/2010 19:37

Just marking my place by saying I am siiiiiiiiiick bleeee. Sympathies all round!

cowboylover · 14/10/2010 19:53

Let me know how it goes suedehead, I got my 1st scan on Tuesday.

My letter didnt have any instructions besides what day and time in what ward so I dont know what I should do! Midwife also said to expect to be there for 3 hours so I dont know what they are doing to do to me for that long Confused

suedehead · 14/10/2010 20:02

3 hours?! urgh. imagine there'll be loads of waiting around. v helpful lady on another thread said not to drink too much - she had so much water, she was in pain and had to go to the loo to let a bit out before the scan because the sonographer said her bladder was too full to scan!

will post something on monday night so you have a bit of a heads up...

cowboylover · 14/10/2010 20:10

Cheers x

LittleMilla · 14/10/2010 21:18

Hello all,

I too have got my scan on Monday. VERY excited now...such a swollen tummy I am really starting to believe that there might really be a bean in there!

Jeepers on the 3 hours, I too will be posting in earnest about the whole experience. YAY.

BTW - those suffering from sickness etc. I think I am now out the other side. There is a light at the end of the tunnel...I am also feel far less knackered. Hurrah.

Hang in there! :)

newyearsday · 15/10/2010 11:30

Hello everyone, I'm new, I'm 10wks, 1st baby due mid-May.

I've felt so rough since 3-4wks I haven't had much energy to post on mn but last week the fog lifted, the day-long nausea and headaches eased off and now I only get nausea when I'm really exhausted. I'm still getting other (reassuring) symptoms: tired, boobs like rocks, itchy scalp (!) and stretching pains in the evening.

I'm already showing, my abdomen was itchy last weekend and 'popped out'!

Good luck everyone with forthcoming scans, I've got mine a week on Monday.

Hope those still suffering with MS feel better soon x

emmah194 · 15/10/2010 12:03

Hello

I'm new too. I've just got to 11 weeks according to the scan we had just over 2 weeks ago at the local early pregnancy unit. Its such a relief to read that others are experiencing their symptoms easing off. I've been feeling less tired and nauseous all week and have been sleeping better at night. Have some cramping today which is worrying me but its our booking appointment with the midwife on Monday so am trying to keep the worrying under control until then - don't think I'm being very successful though. Our proper dating scan isn't until 28 October which just seems so far away at the moment.

Hope everyone is having a good day
