Hi everyone,
Thought I would start a thread for all us mums to be who are due in May 2011 so that we can support each other. xx

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I don't want to depress all of you who are feeling sick and ill but I am eating like the proverbial horse. If I go more than about 3 hours without food I start to get a sore stomach and have to eat something. Today I've had digestive biscuits, weetabix, a banana, a peach, a jacket potato, a small packet of maltesers and currently I'm eating a tuna baguette.

It's quite disturbing. And strange how quickly the stomach pain stops once I start to eat!

neadsy · 06/10/2010 15:43

Hi all i'm new to mumsnet and 8 weeks today with number 2. have calculated that i'll be due on or around my birthday, thats one heck of a present!
i've got a ds whos 8, haven't told him yet am going to wait until i've had my scan etc but am dying to tell him, he'll be so excited, he's been wanting a baby brother or refereably a sister for the last couple of years now.
we too got pregnant the first month of trying (with both pregnacices) so my oh also thinks he's gor super swimmers.

great idea for a thread and looking forward to sharing stories!

neadsy · 06/10/2010 15:51

apologies for my awful spelling above! i too am in work can't conentrate and trying to read and post on the sly as i haven't told anyone here yet, just keep thinking "I know something you dont know"!Grin

missemmajane · 06/10/2010 16:16

Hi everyone -

Ive had my MW today and she says all is well and has referred me to my chosen hospital to make an appointment for my 12 week scan - so only 3 weeks to wait for that - and I can't wait, I really want to get to the 12 weeks mark!

Still feeling really tierd in the evenings and pretty nauseous all day, not actually been sick yet just feel pretty icky all day.

Anyone else completely off their food??? I seem hungry in the mornings and at lunch but by late afternoon, early evening I don't fancy a single thing!!

Welcome to all you new mums to be!!
x

Hello Ladies... Working from home today and was desperate to finish to come on and catch up on the threads.
BabyJanie - I too have "lost symptoms" and have convinced myself the pregnancy has disappeared. I managed to puke every time I ate for a grand total of three days last week. Then Sunday I woke up and was back to normal. Now I'm eating like a horse.. BlingLoving - you ARE soo like me! I also find though that if I don't eat regularly I feel queasy and get weird tummy pain. (This morning I ate a bowl of fruit but because the cleaners were here I couldn't access my kitchen until 2pm and then I panicked that in my five hours of not eating enough I might have actually starved my tadpole to death!)
I am also extra tired but then have also convinced myself that I'm making it up and am only falling asleep in front of the TV at 8.30 each evening because it's become a habit!
My husband is convinced my body shape is changing (tummy feels rounder and boobs bigger) but I'm not sure I believe him. Trousers felt tight at work but then I thought it might just have been because I was constipated / bloated Confused!!
I get the occasional "pulling feeling" in my lower tummy. The only reminder that things are a bit odd is that I burp all day long...
I also find that if I'm super busy at work I can "forget" for a few hours I'm pregnant and then I worry it's all disappeared....
Apologies ladies - I am super neurotic but I have to rant here because otherwise I will drive my poor husband into an early grave or the divorce courts!!
Final thing - I can't wait to hit work with it... It will be the next best thing to handing in a resignation letter... Wink.
Oh Ladies - I am so worried / scared this isn't all happening as it should....

BlueWellies · 06/10/2010 18:29

Hi all, loads to catch up on everytime I look at this thread!

Agree crisps good to snack on - saltiness yum.

I normally get nausea when I'm hungry, which for me is generally often, but have found this is worse now I (think) I'm pregnant. Have been waking up early hours unable to get back to sleep because of hunger (again, not unusual, but need to eat more now I think).

I felt fine at the weekend and after worrying it had gone away as well, then felt rubbish monday and was sick tuesday. But could have been just work rubbish and too much baked beans breakfast ontop of hunger...

Somedays I think I have bigger stomach, but then disappears so I think may be nasty constipation/bloating too.

Anyone on here suffer from IBS? I have had this constantly for the last 7 years, and hasn't gone away even now. Doctor said probably shouldn't need medication in pregnancy, but so far he's been wrong :(

Thanks for comments about seafood everyone, just feels like should avoid until dangerous stage over - is it ok to relax a little after 12 weeks?

On the plus side, good news on glass of wine research on news today! I made my OH turn the radio up, and he tried to turn it off!!!

missemmajane · 06/10/2010 19:05

Yes bluewellies - I do suffer from IBS and have done for 10 years - pregnancy is certainly not helping, especially the constipation, bloating etc... although with the feeling nauseous its hard to know what are pregnancy symptoms and what are IBS symptoms!! I think the anixety of being pregnant and being in the early stages is probably not helping either so I hope that once I get on a few weeks more the symptoms will settle down too :)

Prestonbub · 07/10/2010 02:46

Sorry people didn't mean to freak anyone out with my early scan!! It was only because we had no idea how far along i was plus i'm in australia (I know, what a bitch!!) and you can have a scan whenever you want, i understand at home they don't really dish them out except the 20 week one ??

cowboylover · 07/10/2010 20:13

Well im very pleased to say I have finally got my scan appointment for 19th of October so im really looking forward to that.

I have been suffering with anxierty but had a really great chat with my DH and made me feel so much better with the date coming soon its helped me to make sure im looking forward to things rather than worry all the time if im doing the right thing or not.

The booze thing really confuses me as my midwife clearly said what ever the doctours say she as a midwife delives that it is better to avoid it totally. I have taken to the conclusion that if I want a little glass of wine I shall have a little glass of wine Smile

suedehead · 07/10/2010 21:10

hi ladies
looks like everyone's coming along on here nicely. don't worry about loss of symptoms - i think those of us who aren't throwing up all the time etc should just count ourselves lucky!

went to meet my midwife today. she was v nice, but i didn't spend long in there, and not even a sniff of listening for a heartbest. should hear about a scan soon, and that should come around in a couple of weeks. she reckons i'm due on 8 may. am now worrying about scrubbing the house clean for the home visit in november!

told family this evening - went well - they're all thrilled, especially my best mate who's also pregnant - she's v excited we can enjoy our maternity leave together. starting to feel a bit more real now! still keeping everything crossed for the rest of the first trimester though, eh?

hope you're all doing well xx

babyjanie · 07/10/2010 21:19

Thanks everyone - I feel much better about it all now! It's so easy to freak out about the little things. I have my first MW appointment on Monday so looking forward to that and to be told everything is ok! Can't wait for my scan now on the 22nd :)

Blingloving - I think I'm just over 10 weeks, but not sure as I was very irregular when I fell pregnant so might not be as far along as that - I guess I'll find out in a few weeks!

Thanks everyone - really appreciate the support x

LabMonkey · 08/10/2010 07:15

Doh! - I spoke too soon about not being sick Blush. I made it 24 hours. It's not as bad as it was so I'm hoping this is it slowing down. It's the reaction to smells that's worst. Going to see if I can manage to not retch cycling past the sewage works on the way to work today (there is no other route).

neadsy · 08/10/2010 09:18

Still haven't heard nothing from midwife. Not getting too worried just yet as I'm only just over 8 weeks but would like to hear something soon.
On another note I have started with an absoloute stinker of a cold. Sore throat thumping head and snotty nose. Am trying to resist taking any paracetamol for as long as possible but feeling pretty miserable and sorry for myself. :(

lilly13 · 08/10/2010 16:52

Neadsy, I am 9.5 weeks pregnant and heard nothing from midwife/hospital. I gave up and had an early pregnancy scan done privately. It was a huge reassurance and gave me a peace of mind, though I am still quite worried about so many things... I also suffered from a terrible cold. I took no medicine. I only drank gallons of hot water with fresh lemon juice and honey, and eat fresh ginger root. I managed to beat it after a few days. Get well soon!

first1 · 08/10/2010 17:00

Hi everyone, just thought I'd wish you all luck! I had a May 2010 baby, it's a lovely time of year for a new bubba! Enjoy the next 7 months :)

pissovski · 08/10/2010 17:09

Hi all :)

Nice to hear how people are doing

i will be 11 weeks on Mon and have my 1st scan next thurs. I am nervous about it, but am looking forward to seeing something physical, rather than just a line on a stick (must've done about 4 of them since getting the BFP - just to check!!). Not really had major symptoms - no sickness (thank God) - just been quite burpy, slightly sore norks and sooooooo sleepy! and I seem to have the motivation and energy levels of dead sloth!

Not told anyone but our families yet, but its driving me batty - might have to tell some friends (or go into hibernation). They have noticed that I have not been drinking (am not a big drinker, but it was my birthday a few weeks ago) but have accepted the 'diet' excuse :O

As a 'generously proportioned' girl (size 16 - 18) i am wondering when/how i will start to show. I can feel that around my belly button has become more firm (dunno if that's anything to do with it though) but not sure how it will change as time goes by.

Food wise i am really not in the mood for healthy stuff :( have been on pot noodles and

probably a few more bikkies than i would like. I am a bad comfort eater so now trying to get back on the wagon - if only stuff didn't taste and feel like i was eating cotton wool!!

Good thoughts out to all of you xxxx

cowboylover · 08/10/2010 18:20

Hiya all and happy weekend!

I am even more generously proportioned (size 22) and a close friend said that she could see it before I gave up and told her last week!I have a round tummy anyway and I think it feels firmer and has pushed all my fat a bit further out! LOL!

neadsy · 08/10/2010 18:31

Thanks lilly13 will give the lemon honey and Ginger a try!
cowboylover I'm the same a 20/22 and think my tum has got rounder already, think a few of my workmates are getting suspicious. Although my mum did say that many people strt to show alot earlier with their second although that could be an old wives tale!!

Teasie · 08/10/2010 19:38

Hi Everyone! I'm now almost eight weeks and the sickness began in earnest last week..it is not debilitating and sometimes I'm quite amused by what sickens me- smoke, people's eating habits (slurping n burping), smells esp my DHs trainers, some of the music I can't bear listening to anymore as it makes my stomach churn...all I want is salty stodge..it's like pronounced munchies..McDs, fried eggs, bacon, crisps. pissovski- usually I'm the healthy eater in our house and I was really planning on not putting much weight on but at this rate I'm going to be as big as ahouse! I have a trip to Germany next week for work and I really hope it eases by then and I find some creative way of avoiding booze Grin I love this thread- it keeps me sane and gives DH a rest from all my whinging as we haven't told anyone yet Wink

suedehead · 08/10/2010 19:41

hello fellow generously-proportioned ladies! i'm a size 18 - also feeling that my belly button is getting a bit firmer, and the bit that goes in at my waist (between belly and spare tyre!) is filling out a bit. no-one's mentioned it yet, but i'm glad i just have such sensitive friends and colleagues! would dread a 'you're getting a bit porky, dear - have you thought of scaling down your biscuit habit?' comment....

pissovski · 08/10/2010 19:48

Thanks all,

Suedehead - yup that's the bit i have! That area is always covered up so no-one except me and DH have seen it (so can't notice!) I would hate to be using the 'diet' excuse and have someone turn round and say 'well, its not working!!'

neadsy · 08/10/2010 20:47

Haha I'd just announced to the girls at work that I was starting a new diet then found out 2 weeks later I was PG! Have been munching rubbish for the last few weeks luckily my team aren't ones to give cheeky comments but I can see them watching me and thinking that's one he'll of a diet!
Am hoping I cam hold off telling them until I've had my first scan but it's getting harder and harder!

Tibbo81 · 08/10/2010 23:25

Evening Ladies,

Its good to hear everyones doing well with their pregnancys.
Nothing much has changed here except i'm starting to suffer a bit with the constant feeling sick!

My boobs are still expanding at an amazing rate, much to DH delight!!

I discovered today that i can't stand the smell of cooking seafood, DH brought some king prawns for his dinner and whilst they were cooking i thought i was going to be sick. He walked in the kitchen and burst out laughing as i had a pale grey from the smell!!

Another thing i'm suffering with and i apologise if tmi, but my god i'm getting constipated and wind, i'm even beating DH in that department!

How long did it take for everyone to hear from there midwife for initial appiontment?
I informed my dr 2 nearly 3 weeks ago and still haven't heard anything and i'm 8wks on wednesday.

Look forward to hearing form you all

Tibbo xx

Justtrying · 09/10/2010 07:26

Tibbo, I too am suffering with wind and constipation. Have gone off curry which i normally love. Sasw the doc ten days ago and received paperwork from the hossie to have scan and booking in appointment on 29th. I'm 8+2.
Glad to hear everyone's news. :)

ladylight · 09/10/2010 08:10

Hi Ladies

I had an early scan on Wednesday, omg it was the amazing thing I have ever seen.

Terrified nothing would be there and didn't expect to see anything clearly but it was with this super fast heatbeat flickering on the screen. Baby was facing us to the front and and it looked like a baby, it was incredible and def worth doing. I was a little further along than estimated so new due date is May 15th so now my scan with the hospital has also been brought forward.
Now I am really desperate to tell people.

Emotions and sensitivity are at an all time high, DH picked up the scan photos by accident yesterday morning when he left for work, which I completely freaked out over as I was convinced he had thrown them away, I even went through the rubbish, I was a woman deranged! Not sure how our marriage is going to fare over the next 7 months!! He also decided to roast pork belly loin on Thursday night which had me gagging as soon as I walked through the door. He was not in my good books! I am also tossing and turning and waking super early to go to the loo so he already wants to move out of our bedroom!!!! Have to laugh or we would kill each other. This little one is already changing our lives. :)

The tiredness seems to be getting worse and have has a bit of nausea. DH seems to think I'm making it up that I need to eat through it, especially with chocolate, which apparently eaten (in moderation) throughout pregnancy will create a happy and smiley baby!

Brought a really helpful book on what to eat as DH keeps telling me I can't eat things that I can! It's called What to Eat When You're Pregnant by Dr Rana Conway. It literally has a list of loads of food and ticks and crosses next to them and explanations. Apparently our immune system goes through several changes so your body doesn't reject the baby so that is why we are more likely to get sick from eating certain foods while pregnant. It explains why no to shellfish but yes to prawns that have been thoroughly cooked for example. All very confusing so glad I have some sort of guide.

Anyway have been babbling, apologies for the long post I sooooo need to speak to friends soon about all this!

Hope you are all well.
