As some of you already know I am currently 5 weeks pregnant after having had a missed miscarriage at 17 weeks in April of this year.
I am very pleased and excited to be pregnant again but at the same time full of fear and anxiety.
Their seems to be a lot of women on mumsnet at the moment who have experienced a recent miscarriage and are pregnant again. We all have the same worries.
Hopefully we can use this thread to offer each other mutual support and help keep each other positive.

sorry have just read all the most recent anxious messages and my post looks a bit uncaring.

I have been having lots of what feel like Braxton hicks every evening - impossible as I am only 9 weeks pg, but obviously they make me sit down immediately and spend the rest of the night feeling miserable on the sofa.

just to reassure anyone I didnt really have many symptoms for the firts 7 weeks, in fact I felt rather good. I wish I had made the most of it now instead of worrying away as now I feel utterly shite most of the time x E

cori · 28/09/2005 18:49

Enid, I had what felt like braxton hicks contractions in my first successful pregnancy. My midwife told me that I might just have a sensitive uterus. Do they hurt?

One of my good friends, neighbour and doctor (all the same woman in case you were wondering) said that in her opinion there's no increased risk of mc in not waiting for AF before conceiving again. I believe her, she's worked in a gynea (sp?) ward for 6 months so should know her stuff!

I'm all pepped up today, am going to keep perky (as long as I don't start feeling sick!) and stop worrying until I have my scan in a few weeks time.

Flutterbye · 28/09/2005 20:08

Enid - fab news on your scan, it's good to see the wee thing dancing around isn't it, makes it feel all the more real.

Wills · 29/09/2005 10:47

How you feeling cori?

Flutterbye Good!

cori · 29/09/2005 16:57

Not too bad, have had a headache because of my cold but OK otherwise. Not getting much M/S any more, jsut the odd wave. am not too worried as I have never had much in the past any way. I have got my booking in appointment for 12 weeks, only three weeks to go. The second hurdle is in sight.

Morning all hope you are all ok. Cori I too have been getting headaches and now only occasional ms, got my 12 week scan week after next.
Coming to the end of the first trimester and looking back it has been a rollercoaster of stress and worry, so different to my first pg which was happy apart from the usual first trimester ailments.
Would like to be able to say enjoying being pg as for ds but honestly not true, but desperately want this baby. Is this just first trimester blues or will things improve with time or is this common in a pg after a mc? and does it continue all the way through.

Wills · 30/09/2005 07:43

Tumblemum I can only talk from my experience. I had an m/c between dd1 and dd2. DD2's pregnancy was fraught BUT it did get better once she began to move. I know I felt her move at about 15/16 weeks. I've subsequently gone on to have another m/c last october and can assure you that I'm just as fraught as ever. Hoping that little one is gonna stay and that I will be feeling those flutters in a few months.

Katherine · 30/09/2005 10:06

Hi Wills just looking in on you to see how you are coping. Big Hugs. It feels like such a long road but just remember - you can count the days till the movements start rather than the DD - it doesn't seem so far ahead then. Hang on in there.

Flutterbye - DD2 (now 2) was concieved 2 weeks after a truly horrendous 12 week miscarriage (my 3rd).(not sure how) - in fact I never actually stopped bleeding from the mc till I was 9 weeks. I can't even remember why I did a test! The road is hellish long but when you reach the end it will feel worthwhile. Thank god for mumsnet. Drs like to to wait till your cycle is regular - it makes it easier for dating etc. also it gives you more time to get yourself together emotionally. But IME everything falls apart when you see that blue line anyway.

Enid · 30/09/2005 10:32

agree with wills, I really relaxed once I could feel the baby moving - also I find hearing the hearbeat with the doppler more reassuring than a scan for some odd reason, sympathies it is a roller coaster ride as someone else said. I was up half the night with stabbing pains in my side which I deep down feel are nothing to do with the baby but at 3am you really do worry! Anyway they have gone now, was violently sick this am and now have a migraine. Am at work but skiving with mumsnet, a can of coke and Heat magazine

Wills · 30/09/2005 11:32

Enid .

Hi Katherine. Must admit at the mo I'm counting the days until 14 weeks. At 6 + 5 it feels like a lifetime away. Then I will wait with baited breath for that first flutter. Mustn't think about it mustn't think about it mustn't think about it! just hope hope hope.

Tumblemum · 30/09/2005 21:00

thanks all had a bleak moment last night in the early hours, I shall have to get hold of a doppler, are they very expensive
best wishes to you all tonight

cori · 30/09/2005 21:32

I think you can get them on ebay. Not cheap. Around £100.00 +. I will be getting one soon.

maddyd · 01/10/2005 15:50

We will all be additcted to Dopplers

Im having a completeley un pg related scan on Monday. Im gonna ask them to have a sneaky look for me whilst im there. Ill only be 5 + 5 but theres no harm in a little peak is there. I hope they dont say no. Once i explain of my loss and how im getting married in 6 weeks im sure theyll understand.

petunia · 02/10/2005 08:54

Morning all,
I'm now 9+5 with a scan a week tomorrow. Things seems to have settled down a bit. I've got a good bump forming so all the maternity clothes have come out. One thing I seem to be having trouble with is my appetite. I can be really hungry, have a few mouthfuls of food and then be uncomfortably full!
Hope everyone and their beanies are doing well.

cori · 02/10/2005 18:46

Hi everyone,
I have had a hell of weekend. Woke up yesterday with a headache, took some paracetmol, which did nothing. The headache got progressively worse through out the day. Took some more panadol, went to bed at about 10.30, I woke up at about 1.00 in incredible pain, headache, neck and jaw stiffness. I called NHS direct was told to take more panadol at about 2.00 am and call back in a hour, I did that but they didnt return the call. I eventually got some more sleep an woke up 7.00 insuch pain that I was crying. I decided to go hospital. I was given fluids, and pethidine ( cnat have anything else because am allergic to codeine and everything else is toxic ) and was observed until 2.00pm- nothing else sinster showed up. I was worried about menigitis. I was allowed home, the pethidine took the edge off the pain but it did not go away. Once at home I took more panadol and then eventually tried some sudafed, as I thought that maybe the pain was being caused the stuffed up sinus I have ahd for the past week. The main headache now seems to have gone, but have a blocked left ear.
I have to back to hospital tomorow, for a scan because I had a very small amount of blood in urine and had a small amount of spotting on Saturday. Of course I am worried about the scan tomorrow because I remember getting headaches (though not this bad) before my last miscarriage.
Scan is at 2.00 pm.
Hope everyone else has had a better weekend than me.

OP posts:
petunia · 02/10/2005 19:10

Cori- what an awful weekend for you. Did the hospital have any idea what was causing all the pain?
Really hope the scan goes well. Will be thinking of you.

cori · 02/10/2005 19:23

No, they have dont have any idea, apart from saying it might be tension related. Have been googling and am begining to think it is my sinus. I have had a cold for about two weeks and have been really clogged up.
I think I will have a hot bath with obas oil in it.

maddyd · 02/10/2005 19:43

Cori, im 5+ 4 i think, also scan tomorrow at 1.30 for bleeding but heavily. Fingers crossed for both of us. Night Night Take Care xxxxxxx

Flutterbye · 02/10/2005 19:49

Maddyd - good look with the scan, didn't realise you'd been heavily bleeding, try and relax although know it's difficult. Try to get some sleep if possible!

Cori - also good luck, hope the pains/headache were just to do with you sinuses, sounds pretty likely, doesn't it?

cori · 02/10/2005 20:03

Flutterbye; Yes I think so, especially as they have subsided with the sudafed.

Maddyd {{{{hugs}}}} good luck for tomorrow. Will check in after scan tomrrow.

God, I hope we are not heading back towards the TTC thread ( sad)

OP posts:
Enid · 02/10/2005 20:04

cori it sounds like sinusitis I had it once and it was agony (and I get migraines!), if it was worse if you put your face down (eg looking at floor) that is almost certainly waht it was x E

peepee · 02/10/2005 23:01

Flutterbye, it looks as though the same has happened to me. I have not had an AF since my last m/c in early sept.

Three days ago..........................
I felt,a warm nice sort of sharp pain in the left side of my groin, what I thought to be a sign of p/g as I have felt it before. Did a p/g test this morning and it was positive.
I can't beleive this. Could it be stuff leftover from my last m/c at the begining of Sept? I
have been on the TTC thread and they have been trying to reassure me. It doesn't seem real. Maybe it isn't.
Weird....

I Will keep u all updated......going to sleep now.
Goodnight.......

Maddyd, hugs am thinking of you. Good luck.

cori · 03/10/2005 15:10

Peepee, Wow- I cant believe you are pregnant again so soon. Get yourself to a GP ASAP.

Well I had my scan all, still good news heartbeat fine and right size for dates. I feel confident enough to go and buy a doopler now.

Apart from that, I still feel like crap. My head pain is gone, but now have an earache, and feel like my head is stuffed with cotton wool. Hope this goes soon.

Maddyd, How are you sweetie?

OP posts:
peepee · 03/10/2005 15:19

Cori,

I bet you are not as shocked as me!

I am really glad to hear you and your beanie are doing fine.

Going to docs at 5pm. No doubt he will have me go to EPU tom. Mind u they won't c much will they. They will probably just do my HCG levels.
