As some of you already know I am currently 5 weeks pregnant after having had a missed miscarriage at 17 weeks in April of this year.
I am very pleased and excited to be pregnant again but at the same time full of fear and anxiety.
Their seems to be a lot of women on mumsnet at the moment who have experienced a recent miscarriage and are pregnant again. We all have the same worries.
Hopefully we can use this thread to offer each other mutual support and help keep each other positive.

Thankyou for all your support (not one for being mushy) but I would drive DH mad if it wasn't for being able to talk on here.
Tabs congratulations did you find out b/g?

Flutterbye · 26/09/2005 22:12

Hello ladies, I'm new to this thread. I had an early m/c (at 5 weeks) in Aug, didn't wait until AF came and am now pg again...yippeee. Was that naughty, should we have waited?? Anyway too late now me thinks.

Should I wait a few weeks before going to the docs 'cause the scans can't see anything before about 6 weeks anyway can they (if they give me one)?? I'm probably about 4 or 5 weeks, so only just pg.

We are lucky 'cause we've been able to concieve each time we've tried (only 3 so far), we have a ds who's 20-ish months.

Hope this ones sticks, I feel that we're ready for it this time (house, job and ds who's a darling) and have a few friends pg also so would be good to go through it all with them (didn't have that last time). I need the new challenge too as I'm a stay at home mum with just one laddy and don't intend to go back to work just yet. A spring/early summer baby would be ideal too. Not counting my chickens though.

maddyd · 27/09/2005 06:41

Hoya Xena. Congrats on the scan. What a relief. I cant wait for mine but im only 5 weeks today so will wait till im 7. Docotor wants me to wait till im 9 but im far too much of a worrier and impatient. I just need to see that heartbeat before i can relax.

Hiya Flutterbye and wow, speedy on the conception you lucky thing. Took me 6 months of symptom paranoia before i actually got symptoms for real We will be due same time then end of May/begining of June. I have to have C sections though so will have it May

munz · 27/09/2005 08:08

flutterby, same thing happened to me, except mine didn't stick but had the m/c in june, and got PG the very next month b4 AF turned up, so far so good, am now 17+2 (according tot he hospital but I know i'm only 16+4 - seems this babys gonna hvae a big head! lol), still fingers crossed for you. (((hugs))

xena glad all went well, mads- u don't forget to rest up and take things easy no lifting MRS!!!

Flutterbye · 27/09/2005 12:47

Just had a thought, maybe the preg test is still detecting hormones from the miscarriage..possible?? Although was given the all clear from the hospital after a -ve scan and three consecutive blood tests. Am going to docs this pm to see if it's possible or if he thinks I'm preg again. We'll see....

munz · 27/09/2005 12:58

flutter - trust me, I have had the exact same, 2 weeks after m/c I had a neg test,(had done about 3 of my own after the bleeding stopped) then 2 weeks later got a BFP, the scan's confirmed dates etc for the second PG.

fingers crossed for u (((hugs)))

Tabs · 27/09/2005 13:33

Great news Xena!
No, they couldn't see flavour as baby had cord running between his/her legs so blocking the view! Am having a 4D one in November though, so may still get to find out before it arrives!

Tumblemum · 27/09/2005 18:50

So pleased that all is well Zena.

Flutterbye · 27/09/2005 19:19

Doc confirmed the increased chance of mc as we didn't wait for AF to come after last mc before conceiving...didn't know that, would have probably waited, doh!

Will get a scan appt thru' the hospital in a couple of weeks (fingers crossed) to see if all is o.k. in there.

Doc asked me if I "feel" pg, I said that the only symptoms I had with DS was sore boobs, no sickness, this time I feel normal except perhaps yicky before I've had breakfast.

I think I'm going to lie low and not tell friends, etc until after we've seen the scan. Reading some of the TTC/mc threads have scared me, making me realise what can go wrong after you've got pregnant...a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. I had a breeze first time around, didn't realise until now!

Maddyd & Munz - it's good to know there are others out there who have been though the same. Thanks.

cori · 27/09/2005 20:07

Flutterbye, dont worry to much.I read a study somewhere, I think the increased risk is only very slight.

OP posts:
maddyd · 27/09/2005 20:24

Flutterbye i was told different things by two doctors. One said go for it the said wait a month. The reason for the wait is dates !!!!!!

Im geeting more paranoid as the days go on. I have cramps tonight and it just makes me worry so im off to sleep early and hopefully ill wake with them gone. I was also told that these pains are normal and actually a good sign not necceserilly a negative one. It means the embryo is getting nice and settled and its just ligaments and muscle stretching to accomdate. Canr see it myself, i mean its only the size of a grain of rice

Kabsy · 28/09/2005 00:33

Hi Flutterbye,Maddyd & Everyone else

Just wanted to add a bit to this thread. I know that we all worry no matter what anyone else says - but i think it helps to know that others are either going through the same or have been through the same. I had two miscarriages before I fell PG with DD. The one Dr was so dismissive I voiwed to have her struck off! Generally they wont test until 8-9 weeks but I found a noce young woman Dr who just took my home kit as proof! Regarding the PG bit I know just how you feel as I thought it was never gonna happen as after the 2 miscarriages I didnt catch for nearly 4 years even though had treatment - i was resigned to IVF but then it happened! But I had cramps & backache in the early stages upto about 12-14 wks whilst PG with DD and also had some bleeding. I literally didn't move for about five days. But DD or 'bean' as we called her after the 12 wk scan hung in there and now she's 2.5! Want another but dont know if I can bear the stress of PG!

Hope this helps. difficult to put your life story down in such a short space

munz · 28/09/2005 09:39

flutter/madds, I like both of u was and still am v paranoid about this PG, I don't think i'll relax and enjoy it until the 20 week scan and even then not too much just in case iycwim. I was also expecting to see AF at every turn, down here we have to wait till 12 weeks for a scan - as i'm not high risk with 'only' 2 prev m/c's it was deemed I didn't need an early scan, anyhow, thankfully things went well.

again like u guys i've had days with no symptoms - to the point of doing another test at 8 weeks just to make sure it was positive! lol. the symptoms come and go with me - mainly thou I ahve to eat in the morning or feel sick - isn't it odd for sickness to reassure u!

anyhow, the dr didn't give me any help with incresed m/c risks, or we should wait or anything like that, this baby has so far been a v happy and plesant surprise. don't mind if either of you two want to CAT me. try to keep ur pecker up - and do as little as possible around the house!

maddyd · 28/09/2005 12:41

Cheers Munz. Im having a bad day actually. I feel fine but dont want to. You know what i mean by that. Im pooping to the loo every two mins to check im not bleeding. I just dont feel pregnant today and it makes me worry. I know prob in a few weeks time i wont be able to move, drive or eat because of morning sickness but i wont complain ever ever ever.

maddyd · 28/09/2005 12:41

popping not pooping

Wills · 28/09/2005 13:41

God, have been in Paris and away from computer. Hello to you all.

Xena that's fab news.

Backache is awful. On MOnday I was so uncomfortable that I became adament that that was that. Really felt blue.

Maddyd, going to the loo - me too. Honestly if I continue wiping myself like that I'm gonna end up with Thursh (sorry if TMI). I'm also at the point where if I feel cramps and backache that's bad news but if I feel fine I long for the cramps and backache cos that must also be bad. Its a long slog isn't it!

Munz, I've had two m/cs with a gorgeous dd2 inbetween. I found dd2's pregnancy extremely hardwork BUT luckily she was a real mover and once she started to move I relaxed... a little bit anyway. If she didn't move for an hour or so I would prod and she would respond immediately. So rather than the 20 week scan I think you'll find its more the movements that start to help you.

Wills · 28/09/2005 13:46

Flutterbye. I have an unsympathetic GP. If I loose this little one she'd probably tell me that it doesn't count as a proper m/c as I was too stressed out when concieving so I haven't gone to her yet. Is your gp just being a little vindictive in telling you that kind of information? It seems downright cruel to me to tell a woman that has just suffered a loss that by not waiting a month that she might have to go through another. Sorry but it sounds more like you inconvinienced your gp and that he/she got their own back by telling you that! Sorry but am angry for you.

Anyway have a close mumsnetter on here who did exactly the same as you and now has a wonderful dd2 the same age as my dd2. So, if you can, bury that gps comment!

Enid · 28/09/2005 15:58
