As some of you already know I am currently 5 weeks pregnant after having had a missed miscarriage at 17 weeks in April of this year.
I am very pleased and excited to be pregnant again but at the same time full of fear and anxiety.
Their seems to be a lot of women on mumsnet at the moment who have experienced a recent miscarriage and are pregnant again. We all have the same worries.
Hopefully we can use this thread to offer each other mutual support and help keep each other positive.

Morning all.
Cori- Hope ds feels better soon, poor love. I don't have pg insomnia, just normal insomnia lol. I'm normally up between 4 & 5 at the best of times. Even ds2 does'nt wake until 6.30.
How's everyone today?

petunia · 04/02/2006 08:51

Morning all,
Hellkat- I'm doing OK thanks. 28+1wks now. Spending the day trying to introduce DD2 to potty training (again, groan!) I went to the Drs yesterday. I posted last week that my legs are swollen, my left one especially. He did some measuring and some examining and decided that it's all normal. I still think my left leg is still sensitive following an infection I had in it 2 1/2 years ago. Anyway, he's told me to put my feet up often. Well, I've got no problem with that!
My insomnia comes and goes. I woke up at 4am this morning and started reading Baby name books. I thought Emily Rose for a girl but what for a boy? Wouldn't mind having David (my brothers name) as a 2nd name but no idea for a 1st name.

Cori- hope your DS feels better soon. Wonder what's causing it? Is he eating normally etc?

HellKat · 04/02/2006 09:00

Wow pet! not long now. God where has the time gone?
Hope your legs feel better soon x

petunia · 04/02/2006 09:46

I know, the time has gone really quickly! I was feeling really fed up and big at the beginning of the week, especially when my feet/legs were aching. Must remember, sit with feet up often!

FirstNikki · 04/02/2006 09:47

cori · 04/02/2006 10:46

I am 27+ 2 weeks. Less than a week behind you Petunia. Cant wait til we all start having babies.
I am feeling more and more confident about the pregnancy. THough am starting to worry about other things though, like health etc.
Am going sort out DS baby clothes this weekend, I barely have to buy anything.

I havent thought of a name yet either.
So far the list is quite short, I like names that are bit unusual.
the list so far
Nathaniel (Nate for short)
Arden
Preston (but probably a bit too chaavy as Britney spears son is Preston apparently, but i do like it)

Any suggestions.

Cori- Glad you're sorting out baby clothes. I was thinking of sorting out and washing baby clothes next week but thought maybe it was too early! I don't really have to buy anything either. I found some breast pads left over from DD2 a few weeks ago when I was having a sort out. DH has kindly ordered loads of newborn nappies from Boots (and a new digital camera as well, there has to be something in it for him as well!) Have any of you joined the Boots parenting club? You can get Triple points on Huggies nappies if you take a voucher in to the store each time and there are also some vouchers for free products too.

I'm finding it really difficult to think of boys names. When we had DDs, we thought of Richard and James if they were boys but somehow I'm not keen on those now. I quite like unusual names as well (DD2 name is spelt Elinor, rather than the usual way, makes for all sorts of wrongly-spelt birthday cards!) Nathaniel (Nate) is nice. My friend's just named her son Nathan Jon. I quite like Alexander (Alex) or Joshua. I'm sure a name will hit me out of the blue that sounds right soon (yes, like when the baby has actually arrived!)

cori · 04/02/2006 17:23

Well, am almost offically in the third trimester so its about time i think.

Hi everyone. Am feeling paranoid again today. I've got a cold and feel rotten anyway but also have some pains a little like period pains which I have had on and off for the last week. They're quite mild but definitely there. Not enjoying myself at all!
Sorry to hear DS not better yet Cori. I hope you get some answers soon.

cori · 04/02/2006 18:19

Arabica, I wont tell you not to worry and it is probably nothing, because I know you will worry any way, but I have had many occassions during this pregnancy where I have experienced period like pains, both mild and not so mild. Unless there is any other symptoms I am sure you are OK.

OP posts:
wishingchair · 04/02/2006 18:46

Hi Arabica - am such a rubbish mumsnetter, I have no idea how far along you are. I'm now 13+4 and have had occasional pains ... are they like cramps? Maybe call your midwife or hospital? They may be able to scan you / listen to heartbeat to reassure you all's well.

I'm having a weird time at the mo - my nana died this week and her funeral is the same day as my next midwife appointment which means that I had to reschedule ... but the only day was a week later and the day before valentine's day which was when I discovered my last baby had died last year. Its sending me all paranoid - that history will repeat itself etc. And am having a 'not feeling pg' day today. This is sooo hard.

wishingchair · 04/02/2006 18:52

Just read that back and it sounds awful ... I'm obviously upset about my nana too!

petunia · 04/02/2006 18:53

Arabica- I can't work out how many wks pg you are but I saw my m/w when I was 7-8wks and I told her I'd been having period type pains. She said it was normal, especially as I'd had children before. She said if I was having them it was a good sign (I know, not reassuring while you're having them though) that everything was stretching inside.

petunia · 04/02/2006 18:59

Wishing chair- so sorry to hear about your nana. Is there another day your midwife might be there? E.g. the midwives at my Drs are there on Tuesdays for booking-in appts and Thursdays for other appts.

Arabica · 04/02/2006 20:36

Wishingchair, thanks for posting. I know how you feel about valentine's day. On that day last year I discovered I had had a missed m/c (was 9wks 6days when I lost the baby but discovered it when I was 11wks). Sorry to hear about your nana.
I've been doing some research since I last posted re my period pains and I think they are related to the uterus stretching rather than anything more sinister. But if I am still worried next week I might get some advice. I'm 14+3.

FirstNikki · 05/02/2006 08:58

Morning ladies,

arbabica sure the pains are growing pains but understand your paranoia. I too have been having pains particularly in my lower right back and across the front of my tummy trying to tell myslef its growing pains.

wishingchair sorry about your nana and good luck at your apt.

hope you are all enjoying your weekend? xx

HellKat · 05/02/2006 09:27

Morning all.
Wish-{{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}} was wondering about you the other day (as were the rest of the girls on the ttc thread). Congrats!!!!! I graduated too!

How's everyone?
After 1 blissful day of no pain/spotting etc it came back this morning . Got the af pain from hell with it too. I'll be so glad when it eases. It's now 21 days out of 27 the bleeding's been going for and I'm fed up .
Ok moan over! Sorry all.
Good thing is I'm nearing my first hurdle. My last babba died at 8 wks and i'm now 8+3 so roll on Thursday (9wks). Got the mw tomorrow, then the next scan on Friday.
Hope everyone has a great day x

mrsmaddyd · 05/02/2006 09:39

((((((((((((( Hugs Hk ))))))))))))))))))))))))

You must be so worried. Good Luck on your appointment and your scan. My first midwife app is wed and my second scan in two weeks. Doesnt the time drag in theese early weeks

Take care and rest.

p.s constipation what can i do, im drinking juice and water like its going out of fashion. Ive heard milk of magnesia is good but i really dont like taking stuff in pregnancy.. I cant eat bran flakes or prunes i would just throw up.

10wks today

HellKat · 05/02/2006 09:51

Thanks Maddy hun.
Yep it is worrying but I think it would be worse if I did'nt bleed at all, then suddenly started iykwim.
Good luck with your appt too.
What about prunes, grapes, oranges etc? They're supposed to work. If all else fails ask the mw if there's anything you can take like that sennakot[sp?] etc. Not sure if it's safe for pg women though.

petunia · 05/02/2006 10:34

mrsmaddyd- poor you. I haven't tried this constipation remedy but my Mum said liquorice always worked for her. I think any fruit and veg is supposed to help. I've always found pure orange juice gets things going (sorry TMI ).

Hellkat- hope things ease for you soon. Was it like this with your other children?

trix1 · 05/02/2006 10:47

Hellkat - Thinking of you and roll on Firday.

MrsM - I tried all the fruit including prune juice uuurrrgghh and it did not work the only thing that worked form me was lactulose from the chemist and its safe in pg too.

slinkstah · 05/02/2006 12:24

hi everyone,

cori hope your ds is better soon

petunia and cori congrats for entering the 3rd semester I have been thinking of names too, and as im having a boy i am finding it very hard.

arabica sorry you are getting cramps, i have had cramps with every pregnancy i imagine they are similar to braxton hicks, maybe you have irritable uterus like me

wishingchair- so happy your back and congrats on being pg too how is it all going?
sorry to hear about your nana too

hellkat- sorry your bleeding again. roll on thursday for you, nearly past your first hurdle

mrsmaddyd- if you can stomache it, try seeded bread and as trix says lactolose works

i bought some materity jeans yesterday, did you know topshop has a whole maternity shop on oxford street, i was in my element especially as they do long leg lengths too dp's was good too. h&m and next had a rubbish collection.
i now feel sexy in my new jeans with my bump xdp thought i was unactractive when pg. but my new dp can't keep his hands off me. (although am on a no sex policy right now as too risky for us- he is not coping well lol)

diddle got belly band in black or white from topshop too, if you can't find any locally next time i go i can get ya one and post if you like

20.3 2.4 to go to the big hurdle.

mrsmaddyd · 05/02/2006 12:50

Slinkash those belly bands are fab as are top shop maternity. i got some fab jeans on line and they do make you feel good.

We also havnt had sex for 10 weeks, i want to but as you say its too risky. Think i will feel better after my 12 weeks scan about having a bit of nookie.

Re-lactolose, that stuff doesnt seem to work for me plus i couldnt stomach it at the mo. I do like liqourice though so ill get some of that later.

kreamkrackers · 05/02/2006 14:36

i feel rotten. i'm full of a cold again and my stomach pains are that bad that even the cocodamol doesn't seem to be helping me. i'm seeing the mw tomorrow so i'll get her to see whether there's still protein in my waters. i know the pain is probably nothing to do with baby but it must have some affect and with me not fully recovering from my last illness and now i'm going worse again it really can't be good. i've got a scan on 13th and at least that way i'll know once and for all whether there's a heartbeat. i love the feeling of life growing inside of me but i can't handle all the worry that's coming with it.

HellKat · 05/02/2006 15:19

Pet- No other pg's were pretty straightforward. Had the tinyest amount of spotting in both but later on and with no no pain.
Slink- Ohhh get you!!!! I feel huge!!! Does'nt help that i did'nt get to lose to the extra 1/2 stone I'd put on at crimbo so I feel lardy!
I can only fit into size 12 now (or 10 hipsters, size 8's are out of the window! ), because I cant get the others above my bump!
I've got to invest in some good sports bras/night bras soon as they're killing when I first get up in the morning.
kk- sorry you're feeling crappy again hun. It's no fun is it?
