As some of you already know I am currently 5 weeks pregnant after having had a missed miscarriage at 17 weeks in April of this year.
I am very pleased and excited to be pregnant again but at the same time full of fear and anxiety.
Their seems to be a lot of women on mumsnet at the moment who have experienced a recent miscarriage and are pregnant again. We all have the same worries.
Hopefully we can use this thread to offer each other mutual support and help keep each other positive.

slinkstah · 31/01/2006 17:48

i know 2 weeks can seem forever, i hope it goes fast, you need something to take your mind of it for a few days so time will go faster, maybe your dh can take you on a romantic weekend

i have 2 weeks till im 22 weeks which is when i went into labour last pg and 3 weeks until baby was born last time and 4 weeks till im in the clear and viable. i feel like i am waiting too.

Coathanger · 31/01/2006 17:49

Great news Slink....

cori · 31/01/2006 20:14

I am glad your scan went well and that your cervix is firmly shut (smile). It is really so easy to convnince yourself something is desperately wrong, isnt it?
When you find that elusive house for under £100 grand let me know.......maybe you might find one in the Outer Hebrides, LOL.

Great newst about the scan slink and a little boy how wonderful.

Gizmo · 01/02/2006 10:11

I love trainee sonographers, don't you? All that time while they try to work out whether they've got the baby's leg or your ovary and you can watch junior bouncing around

I think they should do nothing but 20 week scans for the first month of their training.

slinkstah · 01/02/2006 10:30

thanks for the congrats everyone
cori- outer hebrides is far too cold to even consider i need the warmth of the south lol
i was surprised about the scan being so long and good as all my 20 week scans before have been short and rushed like diddles recent experience.
anyway, i am now on unofficial maternity leave, i am not returning to university next term so i now have all the time in the world to chill until baby comes- fingers crossed that will be in 20 weeks times
dp didn't come to scan with me as he is worried things will go wrong like last time, he won't even come shopping at the weekend with me either for maternity clothes! blah blah blah moan moan moan - soz

how is everyone else doing this morning?

FirstNikki · 01/02/2006 11:37

yes slink know what you mean about scan, asked or rather told dh he must come with me to scan this time (my mum did last time) and he said he would see if could get time off Bless him though honey on eastenders told billy she was pg and my dh said "yes but she might not be" when I asked what he meant he mean it could end in mc and he couldn't said the word mc, he handles it all in such a different way but I think he is petrified of the outcome of this pg. poor dh

FirstNikki · 01/02/2006 11:38

sorry that was poor grammar wasn't it...thats some more brain cells gone already hope you got the gist of it though x

Gizmo · 01/02/2006 11:41

Well, I had a charming double date with the dentist and his hygienist first thing. From which I have learnt, firstly, that having your mouth suctioned dry while your stomach is sloshing up and down with morning sickness is is very unpleasant and secondly, that my pain barrier is obviously at an all time high, since I survived a filling without anaesthetic . More concerned about not vomming on dentist's shoes, TBH.

Still, I now have the shiniest teeth in Cambridgeshire with which to dazzle the midwife this afternoon. Like car head lamps, they are...

cori · 01/02/2006 11:42

I am exhuasted , woke up at 3.30 this morning and couldnt get back to sleep. First day back at work after A/L and only a month to go until maternity leave starts. Couldnt really take a sickie. might go home ealry though.

diddle · 02/02/2006 07:56

Who saw the breastfeeding programme last night?

HellKat · 02/02/2006 08:16

Bugger!!!!!!! Forgot that was on. Dammit! I really wanted to see that too. I'm prepared to be shot down here but from the advert I saw, I'm totally against prolonged bf!!! It's gross. There is no way in hell would some 4+ child be attatched to my boobs. Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww. There's no need for it imho.

HellKat · 02/02/2006 08:16

God I'm an opinionated little madam this morning eh?

diddle · 02/02/2006 08:18

you're not wrong though HK. it was very odd

mrsmaddyd · 02/02/2006 08:26

Morning all. Congrats Slinky on your little ones winkie .

Got my first mid wife appointment next wed so very excited.

I have given up cooking as no point eating when it tastes so bland and makes feel sick so am now on a diet of crunchy nut cornflakes and lemon cake.

Diddle that programme. I do agree with feeing till 2 but i only ever last 6 months. Im sorry but that 8 year old was something else. I loved the young girl from little angels she had a great attitude but i wonder if she will keep going too. It looks like it.

Hope you are well xxxxx Hows Lottie

HellKat · 02/02/2006 08:27

8wks today!

petunia · 02/02/2006 09:37

Morning all,
Not been on for a few days so just catching up.
Cori- glad your trip went well.
Slink- excellent news about your scan (and cervix!)
Hellkat- sorry it's late but Happy Birthday for last Tuesday.

Missed the b/f programme but saw the first few minutes. I thought I was odd for still b/f DD2 when she was 2 but to carry on 'til 8 years! I was also at the bloke who said that women shouldn't b/f in public! Bet he's the sort to be found gawping at page 3 of The Sun everday!

FirstNikki · 02/02/2006 09:39
