As some of you already know I am currently 5 weeks pregnant after having had a missed miscarriage at 17 weeks in April of this year.
I am very pleased and excited to be pregnant again but at the same time full of fear and anxiety.
Their seems to be a lot of women on mumsnet at the moment who have experienced a recent miscarriage and are pregnant again. We all have the same worries.
Hopefully we can use this thread to offer each other mutual support and help keep each other positive.

Hello everyone
arrived back from New York at 7.30 this morning, only managed 1 hour sleep on the plane, so have just woken from a lovely long nap. New York was great and exhausting. We did all the things that you are meant to do, Statue of Liberty, Empire States building. DS had a ball, one of the highlights of the trip was on Sunday. We went on a 'Harlem Spirituals tour' / We visited a gospel church, and had lunch after ward at the 'Cotton Club' in Harlem. There was a blues band playing through lunch. DS was dancing, and one of the singers got him up on stage, gave him a little mike, he was miming and booging with band. It was hilarious, he was having so much fun that he didnt want to leave the stage. I have taken loads of pics, so upload some (when I have learnt how to do that).
DS is a lot better by the way, not a 100% though. Have an appointment with the paedatrician on Thursday. SO hopefully will start to get some answers.

Well I am now 26 weeks pregnant. Yippee, it is starting to pass quite quckly now. I seem to have loads of appoingments over the next few weeks. Have an a test for GD this week, an appointment for anti-d , a scan next week, and another appointment with the consultant the following week. Am starting my maternity leave in the first week of march. Cant wait.

Had one little freak out whilst in New York. Hadnt felt much movement for a couple of days. Did the whole coke and choclate thing and laid down for an hour. Still nothing. I had my doopler with me, but had forgotten the gel. I rembered reading on here that KY jelly worked just as well, so I went out a bought some, I found the heartbeat straight away. Soon after that the baby started jumping around furiously.
Has anyone else found that?

i find that a bit scarey imo! could you tape it or get somebody else to tape it for you? it might get repeated on e4.

FirstNikki · 30/01/2006 16:36

Hello cori & welcome back! Very jealous of your NY trip.
I am wondering how to deal with my anxiety in the 7 weeks before my 20wk scan. I'm scared to buy a doppler as I think I would be plugged into it 24/7!

Hi, Nikki welcome. I have been on holiday for a week, back to reality now. I started this thread way back in August. Glad to still be here .

Arabica, I would recommend buying a Doppler, I didnt pick the HB until 15 weeks but it has been very reassuring ever since. There are some days I know would have been in a complete panic if i didnt have it. I am sure I would have taken myself to hospital on more than one occassion. ( Probably three days ago in NY actually - now that would have been an expensive mistake)

oooh and its my 20 week scan tommorrow, i am looking forward to it

kreamkrackers · 30/01/2006 20:08

i'm feeling ok again atm. i need to keep taking the cocodamol as i tried to stop taking it when i purked up a bit before and it was a big mistake, suddenly felt very very ill again. also managed to eat crackers so i think that's helped. tried to do my shopping at tescos as we've ran out on most of our shopping and feeling too ill to go myself. it took nearly two hours of doing it and having a break from the computer screen every 15 minutes through feeling ill. i got to checkout and they don't accept visa electron

cori · 30/01/2006 20:17

Good luck at your scan tomorrow, Slink. How is your cervix by the way?

slinkstah · 31/01/2006 10:48

hello everyone, thanks for the good lucks. my scan is at 3pm.
hi spub knew there was someone missing
I am nervous about saying to a midwife that my cervix feels open, she is gonna think im a nutter! wish i was seeing the nice consultant but drs aren't there until friday. anyway if it is open i guess they might stitch it shut, so i am packing my hospital bag today just in case. really hope its not as my dd has her first ballet lesson tommorrow and she needs me there!
anyway-

Happy Birthday HELLKAT

kreamkrackers · 31/01/2006 10:59

would it be an over night stay just to stitch your cervix? and don't worry about checking your cervix mw do understand us women have these weird urgees to check everythings ok i'm sure she'll understand (or perhaps say your dh noticed it!). hope all goes well today.

slinkstah · 31/01/2006 16:50

PHEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!
all went ok
the 20 week scan showed my cervix looked normal and closed, the midwife said that it is normal to have opening in cervix after having a few kids so i am relieved- i packed a hospital bag this morning just in case
the scan lasted for ages and ages i was so lucky, the sonographer was training someone so the trainee had a go first and then the real sonographer and everything was explained to the trainee so i got loads of time to look at my baby moving around. its definatly a boy- i could see the willy
i saw a great face shot as well almost looked 3D and then he put his arms and hands over his face.
she even got me to lie on my side so she could get a better view to take a pic!
wow- i am pregnant!!! 4 more weeks and ill hopefully start beliving it

kreamkrackers · 31/01/2006 16:54

fantastic news
glad everything went well.

slinkstah · 31/01/2006 16:58

thanks KK, how are you feeling now?

FirstNikki · 31/01/2006 17:01

FAB news Slink I bet you are grinning from ear to ear seeing such a great scan...so you think its a boy hey, did they confirm this for you??

slinkstah · 31/01/2006 17:07

yes they confirmed this and then pointed out the willy! my ds will be so happy and my dd will be gutted! well you can't please them both lol

just means i now need to get a 4 bedroom house not a 3 bed as there will be 9 years between my ds and babyds. will start searching for that elusive 4 bed for under 100 grand lol

kreamkrackers · 31/01/2006 17:32

feeling much better, it goes bad at points but it's 100 x better. can't wait until i see the heartbeat on the scan and then i'll be able to chill out a little 2 weeks doesn't sound too long to wait now but it does when you're counting down the days (or more like the hours!).

spub · 31/01/2006 17:45

KK - Glad you're feeling better.
Slink! Fab news and how nice to know what you're having. I'm hoping to find out at my 20 week scan on Feb 15th (not that I care either way!). Apparently our local hospital can be cagey about disclosing sex because of a few nutters who've tried to sue in the past when baby wasn't what they thought it might be and despite being told there were no 100% guarantees....
Feeling knackered tonight. DD is displaying definite 3year old behaviour and I'm trying to stay calm!!!
Have a good night y'all
