As some of you already know I am currently 5 weeks pregnant after having had a missed miscarriage at 17 weeks in April of this year.
I am very pleased and excited to be pregnant again but at the same time full of fear and anxiety.
Their seems to be a lot of women on mumsnet at the moment who have experienced a recent miscarriage and are pregnant again. We all have the same worries.
Hopefully we can use this thread to offer each other mutual support and help keep each other positive.

Morning all.
Pet- Great idea about the cabbage. I heard that too! Also, after feeding, rub a tiny amount of milk on and around you nips. Don't laugh lol stops them from being cracked and sore.
I knew I hadn't mc (clots were far too small) and symptoms kicked in literally overnight. Woke up the day after all the pain stopped and had giagntic boobs and a pounding head.
Feel wrecked today. Think it's yesterday catching up.
xxxxxxxx

diddle · 26/01/2006 07:45

Hellkat - your body is up to something, so you still need to rest as much as you can, i'm no surprised you're feeling wrecked.

21 weeks today can't believe it!!!

HellKat · 26/01/2006 07:47

Omg Dids! Where's the time gone?

7 weeks today.
lol god I've got sooooooooooo long to go, but already it's going quickly.

diddle · 26/01/2006 07:51

I thought at 7 wks that it was going so slowly HK, and now i have no idea where it has gone, can't even remember 7 wks. You'll be half way before you know it.

trix1 · 26/01/2006 08:46

Helllat - Delighted that your beanie is cooking nicely. Diddle I agree with you I have been counting the hours since I found out and although Im just 11 weeks it has gone quite quick after all. I keeping moving the goal posts - now I want to get to the end of Feb

FirstNikki · 26/01/2006 09:38

Morning ladies...well for me I am only on wk 5 as of tomo my first hurdle is 9 wks. No hewy hewy today...phew relief..

when I am 13 wks it will be near my birthday so I think if we can hold out not telling anyone until then (and should have been scanned by then) it will be a nice announcement.

slinkstah · 26/01/2006 09:55

Morning everyone

Petunia- Hi, ive heard of cabbage too, but havent tried it.

HK- could the bleeding and pain be the endo- sorry if thats a dumb question i don't know much about it. sounds like your body tried its best to mc but the baby was a sticker

diddle- congratulations you are over the half way point i am 19 weeks today too, are we both counting thursdays now? i started counting fridays then went to tuesdays then to thursdays

my announcement will come as soon as i reach 24 weeks unless people notice by then, but i will defo not tell the kids until 24 weeks. i have to tell my dad still and the MIL i think i will just wait until i see them which might not be until im 28 weeks so they will get a shock

i have my scan in 5 days i am excited but i have to go on my own, as dp has to work, his boss is evil and has moaned loads about the 2 half days he has took as holiday already to come to previous appointments with me.

Gizmo · 26/01/2006 10:29

Hello everyone.

Fantastic to see all you people who are approaching half way: I veer between denying this is happening on the one hand, and surfing the web for good pushchair deals, on the other.

But either way, it's a b*dy long wait, isn't it? I'd forgotten that about being pregnant (been a while ).

Not yet feeling the urge to eat masses or anything too bizarre (I thought rollmops were a household cleaning product!) but I haven't been able to get out for a run this week, because I have a 4th birthday party to arrange and DH has had to go overseas for work. So I can feel the weight beginning to edge up and relaxin is kicking in and definitely relaxin' my waist - bye bye skinny jeans...

On the bright side, the obvious answer to my doctor dilemma has occurred to me: the midwife! Bypass doctor entirely (after all, what does he know ) and get midwife, who was very supportive after m/c, to book me in for scan at EPU. Problem solved. Except I have to wait until 4pm on Wednesday to see her - ho hum.

Arabica · 26/01/2006 12:46

Gizmo, do you think you'll keep up the running during your pregnancy? You've got a FLM place haven't you? I couldn't go for weeks amd weeks due to the sprained ankle, then extreme first trimester paranoia, but am now thinking of doing some very gentle jogs. As it's been so long will probably only do 4 x 5 min with 1 min walk breaks.

Gizmo · 26/01/2006 14:49

Yes, been pondering the FLM dilemma. Trouble is, my 'lets concentrate on doing something totally incompatible with pregnancy, then I'm bound to conceive' strategy has worked a bit too well, so I'm going to be roughly four months gone by the end of April. Try as I might, I can't find any medical support for the concept of doing a marathon 4 months pregnant, and to be honest I'm not convinced I want to.

So I might defer my place to next year and go back to plan A, which was 3/4 short outings a week until it all gets too much. This week I have done the grand total of 0, however, thanks to international jetsetting from Mr Gizmo and organising Master Gizmos 4th b'day party - oh and obsessing over possible pregnancy.

So, next week will be beginning of grand new regime: are you finding exercise OK at the moment?

slinkstah · 26/01/2006 15:04

i do not know where you find the energy to run whilst you are pregnant, and i don't think you should do a marathod gizmo, you will get more tired easily and your muscles are not going to work the same either because of that relaxin hormone.

Gizmo · 26/01/2006 15:37

S'ok, Slinkstah, I do know it's not a good idea . Chief problem for baby really is the heat you generate while running for a long period of time, and the FLM this year is late in April, so could very well be hot. So I'll avoid it.

As for energy...hmmmm...not a great deal of it about at the moment, but that's mostly because I'm not running, since I'm one of those wierd people who finds running energising. Also good for morning sickness, bizarrely.

FirstNikki · 26/01/2006 15:55

very admirable the running ladies .... but what is that ?? .... I do it like an elephant...running that is!!

I read somewhere that you should refrain from jogging/running for 1st trimester is this true??

FirstNikki · 26/01/2006 15:57

...ad obviously 2nd and 3rd become difficult or near impossible too

HellKat · 26/01/2006 16:07

Had to ring the epu this afternoon because I woke up from a nap with stomach ache, went to the loo and saw i was bleeding. I left it 20 mins or so but it did'nt die down so I've got to go in for scan at 11am tomorrow. It's eased off a little and
turned darker but still got a dull ache. Tmi coming up, there's enough to cover a sanitary pad totally. I'm feeling ok, after all it's not in my hands now and so far this baby's cheated mc so many times so maybe it'll hang in there. I'll keep you all posted.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

slinkstah · 26/01/2006 16:08

yes ive heard of weird people like you - exercise makes you energised last time i did aerobics i almost died!!!
i should sort my fitness out though compared with 2 years ago i am soo unfit, i blame it on university as i haven't had much time to do anything else.

slinkstah · 26/01/2006 16:10

omg hellkat i really hope everythings ok, do you have your symtons still?

HellKat · 26/01/2006 16:11

Well boobs are still swollen as is tum but could'nt face rollmops earlier, so not sure. Just counting down the hours really.

kreamkrackers · 26/01/2006 16:15

oh hk i'm sure you're right this baby will be a survivor. maybe the bleedings coming from somewhere else?

slinkstah · 26/01/2006 16:17

well you should take it easy and have a wine to chill you out and chill your uterus out. im sure your stomache has just woken up to its senses by not fancying rollmops today. maybe the scan tommorrow will beable to see where the blood is coming from, might be well away from baby. ive read lots of people have bleeds as big as a whole pad or more and things are fine so try not to panic too much although i know you will not get much sleep tonight{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}

kreamkrackers · 26/01/2006 16:21

hk - try to relax and rest as much as possible. poor you, this must be so worrying for you now, it's like a rollercoaster, one minute everythings fine and you feel on top of the world and the next thing you come crashing down. this must be so much to handle right now. really thinking of you. this really has been going on for far too long and you need some answers soon and here's hoping you get your answers.

FirstNikki · 26/01/2006 16:22

HK - so sorry you are bleeding again {{{{hugs}}}} hope baby holds in there its a fighter, will keep an eye out tomorrow for your news..xx

HellKat · 26/01/2006 16:22

Think I'll do the healthy option and have a soak, chill with a peppermint tea (even though heartburn's gone) and watch Eastenders. Not sure what to think in all honesty. Just going tomorrow with an open mind and expecting either result. But if it is bad news tomorrow then guess who'll be drinking tomorrow night!

HellKat · 26/01/2006 16:24

Tbh I'm so used to it now with this pg. That's why I won't be surprised at either result. No point in freaking out etc, whatever will be will be and nothing can change that. Ta all, you're diamonds x

kreamkrackers · 26/01/2006 16:28

my sisters friend bleed heavily throughout her pregnancy and she has a lovely boy now, so there are people out there who are going through or have been through similiar and all is well. oh and her bleeding was never explained which made her worry more but he was born at normal time and a healthy weight with no health problems.
