As some of you already know I am currently 5 weeks pregnant after having had a missed miscarriage at 17 weeks in April of this year.
I am very pleased and excited to be pregnant again but at the same time full of fear and anxiety.
Their seems to be a lot of women on mumsnet at the moment who have experienced a recent miscarriage and are pregnant again. We all have the same worries.
Hopefully we can use this thread to offer each other mutual support and help keep each other positive.

HellKat · 25/01/2006 17:03

Nikki- my tum does'nt feel like I've been good lol. I'm showing already (look 3 mths gone). No more choc, biccys for me. honest

HellKat · 25/01/2006 17:04

I'm hoping dp does'nt read this about my "pelvis being nimble". he'll think his luck's in

FirstNikki · 25/01/2006 17:05

lol ok nimble pelvis lol

HellKat · 25/01/2006 17:07

Lol. He's on rations anyhow, making sure babba's all safe first. ohhh i know, I'll make him coffee all night, that'll keep him happy.

FirstNikki · 25/01/2006 17:09

rations my dh says no now until things are further along so this could be a long wait ....so I am in quarantine!

slinkstah · 25/01/2006 17:09

im not worrying about weight this pg, i will lose it after

slinkstah · 25/01/2006 17:10

not very good at keeping up with the conversation am i lol

i haven't done the deed fpr ages dp doesn't want to take any chances

HellKat · 25/01/2006 17:13

Lol Nikki, mine was the same with ds2. It was me who assaulted him .
Slink- Same here. I only put on 28 lbs with ds2 and was back to pre pg weight withing 2 weeks. Plus the amount of milk i was producing (had enough to feed ds2, fill the hosp fridge shelf, freezer shelf and have spare) that I dropped a further stone.
That's why this time, I'm stocking up on healthy snacks. I've always been a grazer instead of eating big meals. I love munching all day long

HellKat · 25/01/2006 17:14

Slink- hunny that's understandable. I think i'd be far too terrified.

FirstNikki · 25/01/2006 17:14

pmsl at the milk stock! have visions

HellKat · 25/01/2006 17:17

lol it was like a cow at dawn! The little room at the scbu had an electric breast pump (nicknamed the dairy) so I'd bring 8 bottles expressed the night before, get milked during the day and it would start over. They'd never seen anything like it. With ds1 i could'nt bf at all but ds2 took to it brilliantly. Even my wonder boobs could'nt cope with his demands though when he got out lol.

slinkstah · 25/01/2006 17:22

omg hellkat at your milk! thats amazing, i remember pumping desperatly so i could have a few hours off and go out without dd and could only get 1 or 2 oz at a time.

kreamkrackers · 25/01/2006 17:26

i expressed loads as well! it's the electric pumps that do it, i tried using a hand pump one time and never again, i was worn out and only had 2 oz. i'm deffo buying an electric pump myself this time, i think they're £40 but so worth it. we still have loads of the hospital bottles left over from when i brought frozen ebm home, i saved them for the next time! i must have about 50

HellKat · 25/01/2006 17:27

tell me about it lol. With ds1 I could barely manage a drop. it was almost as if my body knew that ds2 needed breastmilk especially being in special care.

HellKat · 25/01/2006 17:28

Ohhh wished i kept mine!! I'm deffo getting one too. Those handheld one's are crap. After hopurs not much milk and an achy thumb!

diddle · 25/01/2006 17:29

well i am eating like a horse, i'm good at snacking, still having my normla meals and scoffing fruit and biscuits in between. and some how i have only managed to put on 3 pounds? whats all that about. you saw the size of me slink, do you reacon my scales were broken?

We're being cautious about bd too, although i know we both miss it, we're so worried about it effecting something. It de-stresses me though could do with that right now. Need some lovin'

FirstNikki · 25/01/2006 17:30

right ladies I am off home now but I may ask you about expressing another time...I would like to bf for goodness for baby and costs less.

diddle · 25/01/2006 17:39

bye bye nikki, me too i want to BF. hope that i can do it.

slinkstah · 25/01/2006 17:44

that must be why i was getting no milk! i was using a hand pump. am definatly gonna bf, it was so easy in the nights compared with bottles.
i have put on about 4lb maybe more, diddle you are daft you are a lovely weight you do have a big bump, but i am forgetting you are 2 weeks ahead of me, i am expanding quite quick myself now, i can't wait till im huge and everyone knows im pg.

wish i could bd, hope i don't have stitches after birth so can get back to it asap! had so many stitches after dd it took me 9 months to bd again although i did hate my dp at the time lol
have different dp now.

HellKat · 25/01/2006 17:48

Diddle- just enjoy it hun. Take it easy. Your body will tell if it does'nt feel right (that's for bd'ing btw)
Bye Nikki take care.
Best person to ask about bf is Ch, I've only managed it with one ds. But i found it very, very easy with him. He took to it straight away 9even though he was born 6 wks early). You just have to relax (key thing), get comfy and follow your body's guide. I ended up having to use formula aswell and then just formula but even a few mouthfuls is better than nothing.
I'm off for the night all. Have great one.

Arabica · 25/01/2006 17:49

I've put on 7lbs, but I was used to doing a lot of exercise up until beginning November when had sprained ankle, and have only just started being active again this week now am past 12 weeks. Been to gym today and did cycle ride yesterday, more gym tomorrow!

slinkstah · 25/01/2006 17:56

I sprained my ankle about a year ago and it healed well, but i have found this pregnancy it is hurting again! i cannot walk too fast or i pull the muscles so much it ceases up when i rest. do you think this is because of the pregnancy hormones that make your muscles relax ?

Arabica · 25/01/2006 18:57

Yes, it's called 'relaxin' and it softens your ligaments in preparation for birth. My ankle has been fine, though (although that could be because I haven't been running!)

petunia · 25/01/2006 19:05

Evening all,
Hellkat- welcome back. I've been lurking on the TTC thread and knew you'd had lots of visits to the EPU. How did you find out/know you were still pregnant? Glad you'll be getting good care from the hospital.

Diddle and FirstNikki- I b/f both DDs. DD1 for a year (and she was every 2 hrs day and night!) and DD2 for just over 2 years (liked the stuff too much to get her off!) The midwife/nurses at the hospital should help with b/f after delivery. My own view is that you have to be comfortable (lots of pillows etc) and don't let anyone rush you. Oh and if you have sore nipples after the first few days, put Savoy Cabbage leaves over your nips! Haven't tried that one myself but I'm told it works!

I'm now 26+5 and tiredness beginning to get to me now. Don't feel too bad in the mornings but in the afternoons and evenings, really beginning to get tired. So I'm sitting here yawning away!
Hope everyone else is well.
