As some of you already know I am currently 5 weeks pregnant after having had a missed miscarriage at 17 weeks in April of this year.
I am very pleased and excited to be pregnant again but at the same time full of fear and anxiety.
Their seems to be a lot of women on mumsnet at the moment who have experienced a recent miscarriage and are pregnant again. We all have the same worries.
Hopefully we can use this thread to offer each other mutual support and help keep each other positive.

seem to be feeling sicker every day. Almost threw up today. I have had very little sickness in previous pregnancies.
Yes, my scan is monday, a long weekend ahead. But hey, I am lucky to be getting one so early. I just want it confirmed there is actually a baby there. Can they tell whether it is viable at this early stage.

I think there's a heart beat from something like 6wks, so yes I think they can tell.

Cadmum · 09/09/2005 13:05

petunia: Thinking of you as you must be waiting for your scan. Hope to hear that it all went brilliantly.

snaggletooth · 09/09/2005 13:12

Good luck petunia

I am currently almost 7 weeks pg after a m/c 2 years ago. I have had a lovely healthy baby girl since! Went to the gp today and he offered me an early scan and....I turned it down

I don't know why but think I will wait until my 12 week scan. I think I just want to keep this pg as 'normal' as possible. Now I am regretting it slightly I must say.

I feel quite sick but nothing like as bad as I did with my other two pgs (although I had no sickness at all with the pg that I m/c). very tired and moody though!

good luck all!

petunia · 09/09/2005 13:50

I've been for the scan. And yes, there it was with a tiny heart beat as well! The radiologist tried with a normal scan thing but couldn't see anything so she used an internal one (nothing to worry about if you've not had one before, she was right when she said it was "a bit like a tampax!") I burst into tears when I saw it and now I've just logged on and seen your messages and I'm in tears again!
Thanks for them all.

Cadmum · 09/09/2005 14:10

Yeah petunia! I am so pleased for you. There is nothing better than seeing a little heart beating on that screen. I hope you are able to relax a little and enjoy being pregnant.

Crying is to be expected at this stage. You are more than emotional; you are hormonal...

peepee · 09/09/2005 21:04

URGENT......

Has anyone had an ectopic pregnancy. Is the bleeding and passing clots the same as that of a m/c? Have had hospital on phone tonite (1/2 hr ago) saying my HCG which were taken last fri and sund showed only a low decrease therefore possible it could be ectopic. Noone said anyhting during scans. I go on hols in the morning... Am panicking?

cori · 09/09/2005 21:24

Peepee, I havent had one. Surely they would have been able to tell if it was an eptopic on the scan. Hope you are alright.

Petunia, congratulations. I am glad it went well, knew it would. You are over the first hurdle.

RedZuleika · 09/09/2005 22:18

I haven't had an ectopic, but it does seem to be the thing they worry about most during a 'normal' miscarriage. I thought that the symptoms of an ectopic pregnancy were severe one-sided lower abdominal pain and possibly shoulder tip pain. Are you still bleeding at the same rate, or has it eased up a bit...?

mummyhill · 10/09/2005 07:21

I had the same problem with HGC levels and ended up having an erpc and laproscopy to rulke out the posibility of an eptopic, even though I did not have any of the symptoms usually associated with eptopic pregnancy.

peepee · 10/09/2005 08:29

Thanks for all your help ladies.........

I went to AE last night and had blood tests done by on duty gynae. She explained everything to me. The reason they panicked was cos my HCG levels had only gone down by 4 in two days and apparently it should've been a lot higher when m/c. This apparently is a classic sign to suggest an ectopic p/g. Anyway, she reassured me saying it was procedure and really they are supposed to check u every 2 days. As I didn't get a call in the middle of the nite which she said she would do if it was ectopic, I am OK.
Sorry about the panicked messages last nite.
It was chaos.....I had people over for dinner and then this damn call came in.....I was trying to hurry everyone out. DH did a bit of yawning and we managed to get them out at 10. Got to AE at 1015 and home by 1100. Gt service.
Anyway, thanks again u guys are really great for support. x Off on hols in 1hr...Yiiiiippee

Hi all. hope you have a great holiday peepee.
Cori I've been trying to avoid Mnet, it seems to make time slow down being on here. I'm feeling really sick and v.v.tired which are all good signs, but I got that with the m/c too so I still feel that I can't belive that I will have another baby. With 3 healthy children I know I should be more optimistic but atm I can't.
have a good weekend

cori · 10/09/2005 10:26

I know how you feel Xena. Days seem to be very long. I wish I could just go to sleep and wake up in say 6 months time.
I have been feeling quite sick and tired too, I am also continuing to have a lot of aches and pains. They really do feel like period pains. Actually took some panadol yesterday.

Have my first scan on Monday, fingers crossed.

Hello everyone,
Just back from hospital, all is well. One live fetus, with healthy heart beat. So, so far so good. Of course it is still very early days, so has only relieved my worry for temporally. I have my booking appointment at 12 weeks. Hopefully I will have another scan then.
