As some of you already know I am currently 5 weeks pregnant after having had a missed miscarriage at 17 weeks in April of this year.
I am very pleased and excited to be pregnant again but at the same time full of fear and anxiety.
Their seems to be a lot of women on mumsnet at the moment who have experienced a recent miscarriage and are pregnant again. We all have the same worries.
Hopefully we can use this thread to offer each other mutual support and help keep each other positive.

Thanks Bella.
Not bothering with a scan. The epu said it sounds like another mc and because it's so early on the only thing to do is re test in 7 days. I'm going to test again on Monday (7 days since my positive) and then again on Wednesday. They said it's the pain rather than the spotting that's the worrying part.

Here's wishing all of you wonderful pg's and been fantastic to have been here (albeit short). Thankyou all for your love & support xxxxxxxxxxxx

Bella23 · 11/01/2006 10:02

Oh Hellkat - I know there are no words of comfort so just to say hang in there and be kind to yourself xx

slinkstah · 11/01/2006 10:12

hellkat, im so sorry hun, this is totally unfair. have you been to any recurrent mc clinics in the past to find out if theres anything going on?

are you just suppose to wait and see? this ttc and mc stuff is such a waiting game ! its
sorry if i have asked stupid questions, i have luckily not really experienced an early mc before, i say not really beacuse i have had chemical pg but that really doesn't count.

anyway hope you are ok((((hugs))))

HellKat · 11/01/2006 10:21

Yep hun just have to wait until next week and test again. It's a bugger really because after this I could really do with a beer but won't until I know 100%. I'm sure I am though, you don't get this much pain without something being up. Going to go back to bed then stuff my face with choc later .

HellKat · 11/01/2006 10:22

Also, even though it's my 5th, they can't do any testing to find out why because I've had 2 children in between. So I'd have to have another mc to make it 3 consequetive ones before they would.

slinkstah · 11/01/2006 10:36

choc and bed sounds good. i would have a beer anyway hun, a few won't hurt. i drank whilst ttc and up to when i got bfp
if i was you right now i would prob be on 2nd bottle, ill leave what kinda bottle to the imagination
3 in a row ?? thats a bit crap! well if its defo a mc i hope its quick and not painful for you xxxxxxxxx

petunia · 11/01/2006 11:11

So sorry to hear your news Hellkat

Strike1 · 11/01/2006 12:03

Oh Hellkat that's so sad I'm sure you might some explanation if you really push, but maybe just take some time to look after yourself first. You have all my thoughts and wishes.

slinkstah · 11/01/2006 20:41

want to tell someone, but also don't as don't want to make HK feel shittier if she is MC.

rather not put this info all in my june club as they are all talking about buying pushchairs and stuff already and its all a bit too soon for me.

well went for private scan on Harley Street- the place was VERY POSH i felt very intimidated. the dr was lovely and the scan (transvaginal) showed my cervix was 36mm which is blumin fantastic!!! i am so relieved i feel like i have been given at least 2 weeks off panicing as there was no signs that my recent contractions were changing my cervix. dr said to come back at 20 or more weeks if i want and said that he could give me a discount and asked me about my lifestyle (socialeconomical status has been reasons for stillbirth) and said to my dp don't worry i wont let you spend all your wages in here(dp looked like courier today but he works in office but doesn't wear suit) and said what do you think to your first harley street visit(how did he guess). lol!!!!
see how out of place i look on harley street!

anyway he did a normal scan too baby looked all well and very clear and big on the private machine which was fab. he gave me pics and dated me as 17 weeks today rather than 16.6 as i was counting.
he then told us the sex

drum roll............

ITS A BOY!!!

it does feel weird having a boy when my last baby was a girl and i did want a girl so much as i had gotten used to the idea that i was having a girl last time but obviously things went sadly wrong, so i feel a little spaced out about it. although i am very very relieved that all is well- i will sleep tonight for the first time in a long while!

sorry long post am so relieved

slinkstah · 11/01/2006 20:46

oooh not adley wrong im having a boy, sadly i had stillborn girl

just re read my post and thought it sounded wrong lol

oooh and forgot to say 1 thing dr actually said that he really recommends WINE 5 large glasses a week to relax my uterus, he said it is not bad for baby at all in that quantity, but beneficial to uterus. so after i went to pub and had a glass of wine- felt pissed as it is the only glass ive had in 4 months lol

Hellkat- hope you're OK.

Hope Cori is OK. Thought she had an appt. with her consultant yesterday.

cori · 12/01/2006 10:26

Hi everyone,
I am fine. I didnt have my appointment yesterday. I made a mistake it is next week. I am 24 weeks today. I am feeling movement, but still not as much as I think I should be. Maybe it is just a quite one.
Slionkstah, what great news for you. Sometimes it really pays to go private. And congratulations on your boy too, I am also expecting a boy.
Also good news on the wine front....

petunia · 12/01/2006 10:34

Cori- ah, that explains things but what a shame you've had an even longer wait.
I sometimes think that the baby should be moving more than it does but then I also think that in the last 2-3wks, there have been more definite movements. I try to remember that there are probably times when I'm active and just not feeling movements because I'm concentrating on something else.

I'm off to the midwife later on, hoping she'll do a blood test to check my iron levels. She'd usually do it at 28wks but I've found before my levels usually drop between 24-28wks.

Strike1 · 12/01/2006 11:05

Excellent news Slinkstah, you sound super chuffed I've finally caved and book a priate early scan (it's on Harly Street too, what was your clinic called Slink?) I can't stand the idea of getting to my 12 week scan and finding it all went wrong weeks ago. I'm 8 weeks today so they should be able to see something, if it's there. Appointments on Monday, so hopefully I will bounce back with fab news like slinks. It so good to hear stuff like that.

Are you going to have a scan to check out what's going on Hellkat, or just wait and see for a bit? Take care of yourself.

slinkstah · 12/01/2006 11:16

hi everyone thanks for the congrats
