As some of you already know I am currently 5 weeks pregnant after having had a missed miscarriage at 17 weeks in April of this year.
I am very pleased and excited to be pregnant again but at the same time full of fear and anxiety.
Their seems to be a lot of women on mumsnet at the moment who have experienced a recent miscarriage and are pregnant again. We all have the same worries.
Hopefully we can use this thread to offer each other mutual support and help keep each other positive.

phewww glad im not gonna get a telling off, you are the only person that i talked to before and that i talk to now
had a meetup with sep thread a few days before i went into labour so was very sad to leave the group.

dp has booked me a private cervical scan with consultation with a dr who sounds like he knows what he's talking about its 100 squid but worth it i think as i will be very reassured if my cervix is long and will start seeking alternative medicine if cervix is short. anyway its on wednesday 6pm so dp can come with me.

i also have found a herbalist clinic which do cheap student consultations- and i am still a student until the end of january so i am going to see whether they can gve me something to relax my uterus

how is everyone else? feel like ive been talking about myself for far too long better to ramble here than to freak out my due in june buddies

FirstNikki · 10/01/2006 09:25

just gate crashing slink...pleased you getting a scan one way or another and hope it all goes well for you

HellKat · 10/01/2006 09:33

May I join please? .
Found out yesterday!! Out of the blue, still in shock. Don't feel right posting on a "Due thread", far to nervous. Really hoping this beanie sticks and it won't end up as no.5 mc .
Anyhoo, loads of symptoms thank goodness! Seeing mw on the 6th.
Slink- You poor thing hunny {{{{{{hugs}}}}}} totally shite way you've been treated xx

diddle · 10/01/2006 10:08

Welcome HK - very very very glad to see you on here.

Slink - relieved and worried for you matey, hope you're doing ok. I am very happy you can a scan. hope ti all goes ok and you know where we are.

slinkstah · 10/01/2006 10:18

hiya HELLKAT welcome to the anxious pg thread

you,ve had 4 previous mc !!!! wow, am wishing you alot of sticky babydust. how many weeks were you when they happened, have you got long to wait to get past the hurdle? i have 7 weeks and counting and then i will start relaxing abit more

slinkstah · 10/01/2006 10:26

Hi diddle, everythings fine, don't worry. my symptons are something that i probably wouldn't notice if i wasn't so anxious.

How are you doing? i have felt baby move for a while now but i am not feeling baby as active or strong as my last pg. i still don't feel more than 3 movements a day, am 17 weeks tommorrow. i can't wait for the 20 week scan i am going to find out the sex, dp and me think its a boy. It will be strange if it is a boy as i am subconciously expecting a girl as my last baby was a girl.

oooh and my dd stroked my belly the other day and said baby!!!! she is 6 so i wouldn't have expected such psychicness. she still doesn't know though. 7 weeks ill tell the kids they will be over the moon.

Bella23 · 10/01/2006 12:44

Can I join you guys?

Its taken me exactly a year to get pregnant again since my m/c this time last year. A very long year of being on the TTC wheel !

Anyway am elated to get a BFP but the paranoia has set in already and am worried about every twinge or imaginary pain!!
I am going to go for an early scan on the 25th when I will be nearly 7 weeks but that just seems so far away!!

HellKat - congrats and lots of sticky dust to you xx

HellKat · 10/01/2006 15:23

Thankyou very much all!
Slink- All previous mc were before 7 weeks (last one was discovered at the 11 week scan). I'm either 4 nearly 5 weeks or 5 nearly 6. Can't remember exactly when my af started lol.
Bella- I know the feeling of ttc for a while. My last mc was April and been trying straight away. When are you due?
Not sure if I'm brave or stupid, but not going for an early scan. As I'm not seeing the mw until the 6th, it'll take a while to arrange one, so looks like I'll be just having the 11/12 week one [one].
Very, very tempted though to buy a dopplar if we're lucky to get that far. Don't fancy having the scan without the reassurance of a heartbeat.

Strike1 · 10/01/2006 15:40

Congratulations both Bella and Hellkat! I remember both of you form the TTC threads (specially you Hellkat) It's great to see you here.

I'm at 7+5 and trying not to get to jitery about the m/c last time being around 7 weeks. Still feeling rotten so I guess it's a good sign.

Lots and lots of luck and baby dust heading your way ladies. Hope all goes well.

HellKat · 10/01/2006 15:41

Thankyou Strike!
Never thought I'd actually get on here .

Strike1 · 10/01/2006 15:44

I know the feeling, now it's happened I'm so scared it'll end! I know there's no 'safe' time, but I'm looking forward to relaxing a bit after 12/14 weeks. I still don't really believe it'll happen, defence mechanisim (sp?) I guess.

Bella23 · 10/01/2006 15:48

Strike1 are you waiting until the 12 week scan?
My m/c was a missed one last time so I didn't realise until 10 weeks that it had stopped at 6 weeks. Just don't want to go through that again!

Anyway enough doom from me.....ye ha we've all got past the first hurdle with a BFP!

Where are you guys based?

HellKat · 10/01/2006 15:50

Exactly! I swear I'm driving poor dp mad by saying all the time "If it works out/gets that far etc". It's horrid that we can't enjoy it butI started to today. I've decided, what's to be will be and there's absolutely nothing I nor anyone can do to change it! So If I'm meant to mc, then I'll enjoy the short time I have but if I'm due to have a long pg, then I'll relish in it (even being humongous through the summer) .

HellKat · 10/01/2006 15:51

Kettering, Northants here. What about you?

Bella23 · 10/01/2006 15:56

Yes here's top being the size of a house in the summer!!
I am in London

Strike1 · 10/01/2006 15:56

I'm in Twickenham, SW London.

Bella, I'm thinking about getting a private scan, but I'm not sure. My m/c was half missed, if that makes sense. I started bleeding, but I and the hospital thought I was further along than the sac showed, so they said it was a missed m/c. Not sure what to do really, I don't think the hospital will give me an early scan for no reason, but I could pay? Any advice anyone?

Bella23 · 10/01/2006 15:59

Strike1 - I went to Kings Early Gyneo unit for a scan when I had my m/c last year and I phoned them today and they said I can go in anytime for an early scan without any involvement from my GP. They are really lovely.
If you've had a previous m/c then a GP can refer you for an early scan in order to put your mind at rest. You shouldn't have to pay

slinkstah · 10/01/2006 16:01

bella23- welcome to the thread and congratulations

hellkat- i think its awful that people have to wait till there booking scan to find out if everything ok. A doppler is a great idea and you might be lucky enough to hear heartbeat early as 9 weeks

hi strike maybe the hospital will give you an early scan if you explain how anxious you are

dp has arranged for me to talk to someone about my care on friday morning dunno anymore details till he gets home but he's a star on the phone.

Strike1 · 10/01/2006 16:08

Thanks Slinkstah. I've been following your situation and I think it's terrible what you've been put through. I think it's a good idea to get your DH to deal with it. Sometimes someone else can describe your feelings better, without your emotions getting in the way. I hope you get the proper care you deserve, don't let him put the phone down without a proper explanation!

petunia · 10/01/2006 16:41

Afternoon all,
Welcome to all the new ones and congrats on their BFPs! Know what you mean about saying, "if I get that far" etc, I'm now 24wks, and still thinking it!

Slinkstah- can't believe the "care" the hospital is giving. Sounds like your DH knows what to do though. Hope the scan goes well tomorrow.

HellKat · 10/01/2006 19:20

Bad news here girls. Started bleeding quite heavily (old in colour but alot), very crampy period pains so not holding out much hope. So glad we did'nt tell anyone and get our hopes up.
Will keep you posted. xxxxxxxxx

slinkstah · 10/01/2006 19:58

OMG HELLKAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
have you phoned hospital??

cori · 10/01/2006 19:59

Oh Hellkat, poor you. I hope you find out whats going on soon.xx

OP posts:
HellKat · 11/01/2006 07:38

Hiya all.
Had no more huge bleeding but pain got worse. It's now feeling like bad endo pain and I'm spotting pink/red. Not sure if I can be arsed to traipse all the way to the epu later (in this crappy weather too). I'll see how I feel later. Not holding out hope what so ever though, it's exactly the same as the last mc (old blood on/off for 2 weeks at the same time as this pg). Be glad to know though either way.
Have a great day all x

Bella23 · 11/01/2006 09:21

Hellkat - God sorry you are going through this again!! very unfair!!
Are you going to try and get an internal scan to see what is going on?
HUGS xx
