As some of you already know I am currently 5 weeks pregnant after having had a missed miscarriage at 17 weeks in April of this year.
I am very pleased and excited to be pregnant again but at the same time full of fear and anxiety.
Their seems to be a lot of women on mumsnet at the moment who have experienced a recent miscarriage and are pregnant again. We all have the same worries.
Hopefully we can use this thread to offer each other mutual support and help keep each other positive.

Morning all,
Hope everyone had a good Christmas.
Slink- good luck today.
Lunavix- hope you're OK.
Mrsmaddyd- queasy is a good sign. Do your boobs ache? We had a bbc (boob bashing club!) a month or two back to make sure they still ached!

Hope everyone else is OK. I'm coming up to 23 weeks now. If I don't get on before tomorrow, a Happy New Year to everyone. Hope 2006 brings us our little bundles.

munz · 30/12/2005 10:28

good thanks, it's finally settled in this bean's stuck well and truely. so girls to all those who like mads are early in PG, there is/can be a happy ending (((hugs))) fingers crossed for everyone. it's horrid for the first 12 weeks till the scan then the 20 week point (don't think I relaxed till I got to 24 weeks)

still good luck all.

am now 30+5 btw, and gettin v fat! anyhow don't like to post on here as my m/c was so early (5 weeks), and we caught again straight after. will keep a look out for ur birth announcement thou mads! lol.

munz · 30/12/2005 10:29

(ooh and mads I did about 20 tests b4 I beleived it - even did one at 9 weeks cos the sickness stopped! lol. sickness = a well implanted bean apparently.

mrsmaddyd · 30/12/2005 10:34

Ys my boobies are sore, more so at the end of the day when take off bra.

Munz im having a scan at 7 weeks this time. I need to see a heartbeat to relax. Cant believe your 30 weeks already. Where does the time go

jinglediddle · 30/12/2005 10:54

maddyd - very pleased you're having an early scan. We had one and it is so reassuring.

I have a 20 wk scan in a few weeks and as this is our first was wondering what scans i will get after that, if any, anyone know?

mrsmaddyd · 30/12/2005 11:03

Thats usually it im afraid Diddle. No more after 20 wk unless you have complications or you pay for a a private one

slinksanta · 30/12/2005 13:29

afternoon all,

well went to see the doc, he said the he is recomending me for some sort of medical trial, i guess its about preterm labour will hopefully get more info another time. anyway he basically said come back next week for a cervical scan and see where we go from there, i asked how frequently will i get cervical scans etc but i think he will decide that next week after sussing my cervix out.

i had to have more blood taken! as they couldn't get a clear result last time for antibodies.
He scanned me too, was really less than a minute scan just to detect a heartbeart - the little fella was hiding a bit today so not a great view, got no measurements or pics, but dont mind.

all in all good appointment phew!!
roll on next week when i find out whether my cervix is a healthy 5cm or an openable 2cm

glad everyones doing ok and boobies are hurting whats everyone doing for new year?

mrsmaddyd · 30/12/2005 13:33

Puking Hopefully

Whats been wrong then, i havnt been on so not up to date on anyone at all. How far on are you?

slinksanta · 30/12/2005 13:40

im 15 weeks but at risk of preterm labour so hoping drs will assess me more so they can try to prevent labour if it happens. hoping to get past that magical 24 weeks.

mrsmaddyd · 30/12/2005 13:44

Oh dear. I hope it all goes well. Must be very worrying, is this what has happened to you before?

jinglediddle · 30/12/2005 14:05

slink - so so pleased for you, that it went well and they're going to look after you. Very pleased you're finally getting a cervical scan, about bloody time.
bet you're relieved after that, and the fact that you're going to help with a trial will hopefully mean you'll have even more attention. Which is just what you need.

maddyd - not impressed about no more scans. I think i'm addicted to them, good job ive got my doppler, and i guess when baby is more active then i won't worry as much.

We're spending New year with my mom, playing games having drinks watching tv i think. nothing mega exciting.

slinksanta · 30/12/2005 16:43

yeah the antenatal place seems nice enough, i have heard awful stories about the hospital though like it being dirty and understaffed but what nhs hospital isn't? if all goes well i hope not to be there for the birth and i hope to be on my nice ikea sofa (covered of course) with some champers ready

having no more scans after 20 weeks is a bit of a bummer, i was lucky with my 2, first was breech so had alot of scans later on to assess position etc, and with 2nd at 20 week scan they said i had low lying placenta and had to come back at 34 weeks to see whether it had moved, it had.
i think i will go private and get a 3d scan later on

i have nothing planned as yet for new year, seems a bit pointless going clubbing or paying loads just for entrance to a pub when i can't drink.

jinglediddle · 30/12/2005 20:40

I agree slink - waste of money going out, but i will be so pleased to see the back of 2005, it has been a rough year for us and our families. Apart from losing two babies, we lost both my grandparents as well, lookng forward to 2006.

mrsmaddyd · 31/12/2005 07:46

Morning all!!! When did everyones morning sickness start. Im only 5 weeks tomorrow but the nausea hasnt hit me yet and i need it too so i feel more confident. Sometimes i feel a little queasy but im sure thats just nerves. I want the full on 'god i cant move my head' kinda of sickness that i usually get. I didnt get any with the mc,s so thats why im fretting

trix1 · 31/12/2005 09:05

Good Morning MrsM, my sickness did not start until week six, I am now just on week 7. I find if I eat a slice of toast as soon as I get up I feel much better.

Tonight we are going to a friend new years eves party, I will have to conceal the fact that I am not drinking but I have a feeling they will suss me out straight away. I have started to tell a few very close friends already, has anyone else started to let people know yet?

mrsmaddyd · 31/12/2005 09:45

Im out tonight aswell. It wont be that noticable im not drinking as im not much of one anyway. But i cant help but grin when turning down alcohol si i will be sussed too. Theres no way im even having a toast, i just cant risk anything. Sensibally i know it wont hurt but theres always that but, for me anyway!!! Do you get what i mean or am i being over carefull

trix1 · 31/12/2005 11:39

I know exactly what you mean, i dont even want to be in public places where people are smoking, I wont touch coffee or chocolate because of the caffeine. I am so scared of anything going wrong again. I cant wait to get to the stage where I can relax and enjoy this pregnancy.

slinksanta · 31/12/2005 12:22

diddle- crickey that is a rubbish year i did not know you lost your granparents as well. im sure 2006 will be a great year for you

my sickness started late at 9/10 weeks, tiredness started at 6 weeks and sore boobs started at 8 weeks this is all very late compared to my last pg's
i am still off all caffine and alcohol too, wish i could have a drink or 2 but will not chance it either.

jinglediddle · 31/12/2005 16:32

mrsmaddyd - my sickness started at 7 wks, so don't fret, your turn will come, then you'll wish it eased off a bit, make the most of the well feeling.
You're not being over cautious, I am now 17 wks and I haven't touched a drop, although its very hadr not to. But i'm not having any, not even a bucks fizz tonight, not worth the risk, we never know how well our baby is inside, that drop could be the worst thing we could do.

Hope the rest of you have a fantastic New year!!!!!!!1

petunia · 01/01/2006 09:33

A Happy New Year to everyone.
Went to my Mum and Dads yesterday (it was also my Dad's birthday yesterday) but came home about 8.30pm. Can't be doing with late nights now! I did doze off on the sofa for about 5 minutes but did make it to midnight (really wanted to make sure I'd see the end of 2005! Awful year!) This year will be better for us all.

slinksanta · 01/01/2006 17:18

Happy new year everyone

i have been getting some contractions since yesterday, some are without a doubt contractions and some i am unsure whether they are or not or maybe they are just so small. so i am finding it hard to count them.
i am going to have a cervical scan next friday so unless they become more noticable i guess i will wait out for next appointment. am worried though its all so familiar, but i didn't expect "braxton hicks" to start this early (15 weeks)

diddle · 02/01/2006 10:31

Slink!!!!! i wonder if you should go to the hospital, they may be able to stop the contractions, i'm pretty sure they can do that. Might it be worth getting it checked out??? very worried about you.
We all may start having braxton hicks from 6 wks although the chances of us feeling them is slim that early, towards mid pregnancy we may feel them.

found this advice:
When should I call my doctor or midwife?
Call your caregiver right away if you haven't reached 37 weeks and your contractions are becoming more frequent, rhythmic, or painful, or if you have any of these possible signs of preterm labor:

? Abdominal pain, menstrual-like cramping, or more than four contractions in an hour (even if they don't hurt).

? Any vaginal bleeding or spotting.

? An increase in vaginal discharge or a change in the type of discharge ? if it becomes watery, mucousy, or bloody (even if it's only pink or blood-tinged).

? Increased pelvic pressure (a feeling that your baby's pushing down).

? Low back pain, especially if it's a new problem for you.

Hope that helps you slink, please get yourself checked, even if its for your own piece of mind. I know the problems you've already had with rubbish hospitals etc, but this is important, and you and the baby need some care.

mrsmaddyd · 02/01/2006 11:20

Happy New Year Everyone !!!!!!! And lets hope it is, im so glad to be rid of 05.

Slinsanta, how are you doing today, have the pains gone???

slinksanta · 02/01/2006 15:09

They are not painful, or rythmical and no other symptoms so i guess they are just braxton hicks i guess i can feel them early as unfortuatly i am so used to them. there is nothing they can do anyway, i am thinking of seeing a herbalist though to maybe get something to relax the uterus.
i think its normal, if they get more i will go to hospital although i am being seen friday anyway so thats not long away.
