As some of you already know I am currently 5 weeks pregnant after having had a missed miscarriage at 17 weeks in April of this year.
I am very pleased and excited to be pregnant again but at the same time full of fear and anxiety.
Their seems to be a lot of women on mumsnet at the moment who have experienced a recent miscarriage and are pregnant again. We all have the same worries.
Hopefully we can use this thread to offer each other mutual support and help keep each other positive.

Slinksanta, I had this quite often in my first prenancy. The midwife suggested that I might have a volatile uterus or something like that. I think you only need to worry if they are painful.

slinkstah · 03/01/2006 00:28

my dd came home from her bio-dads today and she had been playing with her baby cousin. she said i am sad because i want a baby and our baby died. she was almost crying, it was so sad to see how it still effects her, she is 6 (quite a young 6 because of speech probs)
our baby should be 7 months old if she'd lived or 4 months old if she was born on time
i wish i could tell her that theres another baby coming soon but i can't risk hurting her again, i can't wait to get to 24 weeks so i can tell her she will be so happy.
8 weeks 2 days to go!! and counting

petunia · 03/01/2006 03:59

Slink- hope you're OK. It's surprising sometimes how things affect children. My DD1 is 6 and I didn't tell her about this baby 'til I was 11 1/2 wks and I'd had the 1st scan. But at the 2nd scan 2 wks ago, DD was there for it and she asked if this baby was in heaven too. It brought tears to my eyes.
Hope everyone else is OK. 4am- yes insomnia has struck again!

diddle · 03/01/2006 09:32

Morning ladies - Slink - glad the BH aren't painful, sounds like you know what you're doing. Your daughter brought tears to my eyes, how sweet. The older children i look after make little comments like that. some fo them know about this baby, but don't understand that it is a different one to the one that was in there before, and its heartbreaking explaining it to them.
I was pregnant with my first this time last year, we were so happy, we'll never have that feeling again. without any worry.

cori · 03/01/2006 10:10

My DS is just four, and he has the same concerns. Yesterday he said to DH ' I am worried about the baby in mummies tummy, I want it to come out'. I know he doesnt understand time yet, and that it is still a good few months before the baby will born.

Speaking about being worried, I am a bit concerned at the moment. I am really not feeling a lot of movement. There is some, but nothing like the kicks i felt with DS, or what I am hearing others experiencing. I have also had another little bit of spotting, not much, more like specks of blood really. I am still able to hear heartbeat with the doppler, but never the less am concerned. I called the hospital this morning and am going to be checked out later today. Think they are concerned about the spotting because I am RH-.

Hope everything is OK Cori. My DS (5 in April) loves younger kids and came home from playing with his 18-month old friend yesterday demanding that we get him a baby just like her! I would love to tell him that there's one on the way but know he would be devastated if anything went wrong.
I am feeling particularly anxious today as am 9+6 which is the estimated age my last pregnancy got to. I have a scan organised for tomorow, and when I think about it I just feel sick with anxiety. DH is going with me though thak goodness!

cori · 03/01/2006 11:04

I will check in later. Good luck with Scan tomorrow Arabica, I know its a worrying time. There is some relief to be had when you get past that hurdle though.

By the way DS seems to have improved. No pain last night so may be he is over it.

Arabica · 03/01/2006 11:06

Oh good, hope he is over it now and will be able to enjoy his ice-cream again!

slinkstah · 03/01/2006 15:11

aw cori hope everything goes well today, i expect you will have to have an anti-d injection. let us knw what they say, i hope baby will stop stressing you out so much soon- roll on third trimester

arabica- anxious times{{hugs}}

diddle - how ya doing? felt any movement?

i rolled over in bed last night and felt baby re-adjust himself and roll over with me, was really nice. sometimes i have a realisation that i might get a baby at the end of all this!
its been so long since my dd and ds were babies i wouldn't know what to do anymore, i feel like i am having the 2nd family like what some people do when they get to 40, but am 28, i think i would enjoy it all a bit more now as when my 2 were babies i was very young and immature and was very poor too. the only thing that wasn't 3rd hand was the nappies. lol

trix1 · 03/01/2006 16:12

Good luck tomorrow arabica. Cori have you mentionted to the midwife / docs your concerns.

I have been constipated for three weeks now, i drank a large bottle of prune juice over three days and that had no effect. I had to hold my nose and drink it back with some orange juice straight after the taste is vile.

Today Ive had really bad pains which I beleive to be constipation I just dont know what else to take for it

I hope you are all settling into the new year ok - I am back at work tomorrow I am considering getting a sick note for a week as I am absolutely exhausted.

diddle · 03/01/2006 17:05

arabica - hope your scan goes well, i remember that dreaded feeling, but stay positive, your baby will be fine, we're all going to have a great and happy 2006.

Slink - yes felt baby a lot in the last few days, no major movements just flutters. I did notice when i turned onto my righthand side last night, which is the side baby always is, i suddenly felt a pressure pushing right where baby had been. was weird, like i was stealing its sleeping space. made me move pretty quick I do feel like theres something there now, when i sit down and move about a lot, its like i'm wobbling inside.

Cori - hope it all goes ok, let us know how you get on.

Trix - i drank gallons of orange juice for a week or two and it gave me the runs, flushed me out well. so you could try that.

Arabica · 03/01/2006 17:54

I will let you all know how I get on at my scan tomorrow morning. I've had a lot of nausea today & v sore boobs at the moment which I'm taking as a good sign.

cori · 03/01/2006 18:51

Hi everybody.
Am just back from the hospital, have been there all afternoon. They listened to the heartbeat, but did not seem to worried about the movement side of things as I am only 22 weeks, as the Midwife was listening to the HB she heard a kick (which I didnt feel). She said they really start to move a lot after 24 weeks( that will be next thursday) they seemed more concerned about the spotting. Bleeds after 22 weeks are more of a worry apparently, so I had anti-D, they wouldnt let me leave the hospital until 6.00 pm though as the policy is to keep you in for 24 hours after any bleeding.

I have my consultant appointment next Wednesday, maybe she might give me a scan then.
Am still a little bit worried.

OP posts:
cori · 03/01/2006 18:52

Trix try taking Senokot, it helps me.

OP posts:
petunia · 03/01/2006 20:06

Cori- Glad things went OK. Pity you have to wait over a week before you see your consultant again though.
Arabica- Good luck with your scan tomorrow.

slinkstah · 03/01/2006 20:28

cori glad the appointment went ok, have you stopped bleeding? next wednesday seems along time.

senokot? is that the one with senna in it?? my dr told me that you couldn't take senna in pg she told me this when i was pg with my dd which was 6 years ago so maybe more research was done since then, so double check before ya take it

cori · 03/01/2006 21:53

I suppose there is nothing to indicate that there is anything really wrong, apart from my own paranoia . No more spotting today. Dont know whats causing it really, but it is the third episode I have had this pregnancy

Trix- I have checked my packet of senakot, it doesn't say anythin about not taking it in pregnancy.

OP posts:
diddle · 04/01/2006 09:04

cori - so pleased your appointment went ok.

Arabica - Hope you get on well today.

Slink - hows things going??? is everything settling down?

Hope everyone else is ok.

slinkstah · 04/01/2006 11:40

dids, yeah contractions settled down and havent felt anything at all today and yesterday only a few.
have just posted on antenatal thread as am worried about trinitys symptoms - do you think i shouldn't have wrote anything because i might freak her out??

diddle · 04/01/2006 15:53

Slink - i think it is much better to ahve told trinity than to leave her wondering. it is just one of many possibilities, but with pregnancy you can never be too careful.

Arabica · 04/01/2006 18:13

Hi everyone, my scan was fine and baby has grown from a blob shape (7 wks) to a teddy bear shape! Saw head, torso, 2 arms and 2 legs. We think it's a girl. Have another scan in 2 weeks (nuchal probably followed by CVS). Staff were so nice, I am v lucky to have such a nice hospital to go to.

diddle · 05/01/2006 07:36

excellent arabica, bet you are thrilled, makes such a difference seeing the growth difference.

slinkstah · 05/01/2006 09:44

thats great news arabica, my scan at 11 weeks looked like a blob with little arms and legs but a few weeks later at 14 weeks it looked like a baby. although facing downwards as in looking at the exit

diddle · 05/01/2006 10:07

slink - mine was facing down too at the last scan but soon turned over when the sonographer prodded him/her how are you doing?
