As some of you already know I am currently 5 weeks pregnant after having had a missed miscarriage at 17 weeks in April of this year.
I am very pleased and excited to be pregnant again but at the same time full of fear and anxiety.
Their seems to be a lot of women on mumsnet at the moment who have experienced a recent miscarriage and are pregnant again. We all have the same worries.
Hopefully we can use this thread to offer each other mutual support and help keep each other positive.

Been awake for 2 hours! Pregnancy insomnia has hit again! Feeling slightly happy though, now 1/2 way through- 20wks!

Trix- just been reading about these pessaries on the babyworld site, I think the pessaries are given up 'til 12 weeks. Usually the ovaries make it and the placenta takes over after 12wks. It sounds like it might reduce the chance of another m/c. If you want more info, why not try putting it into google?

Off to bed now!

trix1 · 11/12/2005 08:59

Petunia - you were up early, 20 weeks - I imagine I will be counting the days to 20 weeks, if I can just get past 14 weeks I will feel a lot more relaxed about things (I was 14 weeks when I had last m/c)

Have a good day everyone.

coribells · 11/12/2005 10:49

Since I passed the week where I miscarried I do feel a lot more relaxed.
However am still worried. I have been listening to the heartbeart every day with my doppler. It is sometimes a bit hard to find but is still there. There has been a definite decrease in movement though which is concerning me a bit. I suppose some babies are just quieter then others. I dont really feel kicks either, just movements. WHen do the kicks start happening?

trix1 · 11/12/2005 11:25

Cori - if its your first pregnancy you start to feel kick at approx 22 weeks any subsequent pregnancies you can feel kicks from approx 16 weeks. Where do you get the dopplers from? are they expensive - would you recommend getting one?

Arabica · 11/12/2005 20:44

Hey Coribells, when I said 'our babies will be twins' I didn't mean I'd discovered I was expecting twins! I was referring to Mojomummy--she's also due on 2/8/06. My first scan is on Weds.

coribells · 11/12/2005 22:13

Whoops! sorry Arabica thought you were in line for a double bundle of joy.

Trix, I am not feeling kicks outwards so to speak just wiggling movements IYKWIM. I bought my doppler on Ebay, it was around £80.00.
You are meant to be able to hear the heartbeat from around 12 weeks but I couldnt hear anything until 15 weeks. It can be worrying if you dont pcik it up straight away, but it can also be very reasurring later on when you feel a bit paranoid. I hadnt felt hardly any movements today so as I came home I used my Doppler, and heard the heartbeat straight away. All in all I think I would recommend getting one.

jinglediddle · 12/12/2005 08:04

congras petunia - 20 wks is great, i can't wait to get there!

trix - Have looked up your progesterone pessaries and it says " assisted reproductive technology treatment of infetile women with progesterone deficiency, requiring progesterone supplementation or replacement to support embryo implantation and maintain initial pregnancy" so ther you go, its to help support the embryo whe it implants.

I also have a doppler trix and its great, a bit addictive at first. I am 14 wks and it takes quite a while to find it sometimes, but it is always there. it is very reassuring. Haven't felt baby move yet properly, so am looking forward to that. I would recommend one trix. mine was also from ebay about £80.

trix1 · 12/12/2005 12:01

THanks guys, thats what i will get then, not worth getting it until mid Feb, Thanks for looking that up for me diddle. I am constantly wondering what can i do differently with pregnancy that i did not do with others.

Does anyone have any success stories where they know that they did something different this time or is it just gods willing?

jinglediddle · 12/12/2005 12:50

mothing done differently here. i think its out of our hands a lot of the time. trix, you will have your little treasure with you in no time. apparently the time flies, have seen no evidence of that so far.

petunia · 12/12/2005 20:00

Evening all,
Hope you're all well. I'm feeling bl**dy awful! I've caught a cold off DDs and my sinuses are completely blocked. Head, neck, even my teeth hurt! I've just started inhaling steam which seems to be helping a bit and sticking Vick round my nose etc. I know I can take some paracetamol but really don't want to. Help! Can anyone suggest anything?

coribells · 12/12/2005 20:36

I had really bad sinus problem earlier on this pregnancy. You can take sudafed, even though GPs will probably tell you cant. I had my consultant look it up, and also says on Netdoctor it has been for many years without side effects.

I am quite ill myself, caught some sort of bug whilst out shopping on Sunday. Ds and I spent all last night vomitting, had really bad stomach cramps, almost thought I was having contractions.

feeling a little better today, hoping to feel OK tomorow as DS first school play. Have consultant appointment on Wednesday.

petunia · 12/12/2005 20:40

Thanks cori. I remember your sinus problems from earlier on. I think the inhaling has loosened things a bit. I'll see how it goes before hitting the painkillers.
Hope the sickness bug goes in time for tomorrow. There's so much of it around at the moment.

coribells · 12/12/2005 21:50

Just noticed a sticky brownish discharge.( only a little) any ideas?

Arabica · 12/12/2005 23:39

What a nasty-sounding bug you had, Cori. Hope you feel better soon. I don't know about the discharge, sorry. I had something similar-sounding last week, but it's gone away now.

Arabica · 12/12/2005 23:44

Petunia, have you tried Olbas oil? You can get it in a stick form to shove up your nose---it's like Vicks on steroids & totally natural.

xmasspub · 13/12/2005 08:48

Cori - sorry you're feeling rotten. Hope discharge has gone though I'm sure it's nothing to be alarmed about.
Petunia - try New Era homeopathic tissue salts for cattarh and sinuses. Worked a treat for me. I really recommend them.
Hope everyone is doing ok?

jinglediddle · 13/12/2005 09:28

coribells - i had sticky brown discharge earlier on, and it was nothing, the doctor said that often bleeds like this are from your own body, not from the baby, and could also be from the placenta moving and growing, so it doesn't sound like anything to be worried about.
Hope it has calmed down today, if you are worried then go to the midwife or hosp asap, its worth finding out to put your mind at rest.
an you still hear baby with the doppler?

slinksanta · 13/12/2005 10:00

Hi everyone,
when is your next scan cori? brown is better than red but i understand you must be worried. im sure everything is ok though.

I have a slight worry, after i bled last week or was it the week before, i went to the epu and they scanned me said everything was ok etc, i forgot to tell them i was rhesus negative, well they didn't ask my blood type so i completely forgot!! i should have had an anti-d injection to prevent me making antibodies against my baby. My booking appointment isn't until the 20th and there is no one i can see or ring as the midwifes won't take me on as they are full

Its too late now to have an anti-d injection anyway so i guess its fingers crossed i havent made antibodies, i feel very alone this pg, the only people i can get advice of is you MN and the internet- i wish i could ring a midwife for advice, i mean maybe my bloods should be done sooner because of this cock up, i just don't know.

xmasspub · 13/12/2005 10:07

Slink - Ring NHS 24 right away and they'll refer you if need be.
Sorry you are having this worry.

petunia · 13/12/2005 10:07

Morning all,
Cori- just seen your message from last night. Hope everthing's OK.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I think all the inhaling steam has helped loosen things a bit- everything doesn't seem so much up in my head so I'll keep on with that for now.

Hope everyone else is OK.

petunia · 13/12/2005 10:11

Slink- agree with xmasspub. They should give you advice.

slinksanta · 13/12/2005 10:28

Its probably nothing to worry about, i am so stupid for forgeting i had a stupid blood type, blame it on the hormones. i think i will ring the antenatal clinic at the hospital i am gonna book into soon. If they can't help i will ring nhs direct, last time i rang them it was about something stuck in dd's ear and i wanted to know whether it was her gromit(small tube put in ear to help drain mucous for glue ear) coming out or whether she had put something in it, they asked me whether dd was breathing etc it was freaky.

sorry to hear your poorly petunia, sinus probs are horrible i always get them when i get a cold. sinatab makes me spaced out.

coribells · 13/12/2005 11:05

Slinksanta, How may weeks are you? I am RH negative too. If you are really early on and have a bleed I dont think it is always nesscary to have Anti-D.
I havent had any more discharge, am feeling much better today. I have heard baby HB beating away with the Doppler. I have my annonmaly scan tomorrow morning at 8.30 am. Will mention all my issues to consultant after the scan.

slinksanta · 13/12/2005 11:16

oh cool, i didn't know that, i am 12.4 LMP or 13.0 scan, weeks.

are you going to find out the sex at your abnormally scan?

coribells · 13/12/2005 11:43

They will test your blood at your booking in appointment to check whether you have any antibodies any way.

I already know the sex, found out two weeks ago, ....Its a boy
