As some of you already know I am currently 5 weeks pregnant after having had a missed miscarriage at 17 weeks in April of this year.
I am very pleased and excited to be pregnant again but at the same time full of fear and anxiety.
Their seems to be a lot of women on mumsnet at the moment who have experienced a recent miscarriage and are pregnant again. We all have the same worries.
Hopefully we can use this thread to offer each other mutual support and help keep each other positive.

I dont think my EDD has changed. I certainly hope not. We are planning to go to New York in January for our 10th wedding anniversary. I will be 26/27 weeks when we fly in and out. God I hope this not going to be a problem.

Cori - I think you can get your GP to write a letter stating that you are fit to fly. You could also check the airline's own policy re pregnant passengers - on the website usually. HTH

jinglediddle · 22/11/2005 09:50

xmasspub - i had a scan at 8 wks and they knocked about 5 days off my due date, then i had another scan at 11wks and baby was a day ahead of what i thought, they all grow at different rates, and your due date will change again, baby could have a growth spurt now and catch up to your dates. i'm not relying on scan measurements, just going on my own dates, i'd rather do that and add the weeks on at the end, than think about losing a week at this stage, psychologically its better for me,

xmasspub · 22/11/2005 09:53

Jingle diddle - how come you are so good at this stuff? I'm sticking with my own dates! That's it settled!

jinglediddle · 22/11/2005 09:56

didn't know i was good spub, just logical really, its taken a lot of stress to get this far in my pregnancy and the thought of being told my a midwife that i've suddenly lost a week would be gutting, i don't believe them, all babies are different. just helps my brain thats all.

slinksanta · 22/11/2005 09:56

mornig all
you all get up so early lol
i ran to school this morning and forgot ds swimming kit so i had to go back and back again!

mincepee- i know i would probably get better care where i went last time but i can't face going back, i can't go past the street its on. i am thinking of changing gp's i only went with the one i'm at because they did speech therapy there for my daughter but now she is talking really well.

wills- can't believe you won't be seen officially until 14/15 weeks either!
hearing the heartbeat was complete luck as 10 minutes later i couldn't find it and when dp got home we heard it again but only for 10 seconds then it dissapeared again. i was not worried though as the baby must have moved, i think it is good reassurance until you start feeling movements. you can hear other sounds too though like bumping around and whooshing, stronger on one side so i figure its the placenta

congrats on your scan spub;)

jinglediddle · 22/11/2005 09:57

slink - i think you should move docs as well, if thats possible in your area, your current one sound naff.

whoo! What just happened? Sorry for the re-post!

petunia · 22/11/2005 10:49

Morning all,
Just seeing how you all are.
Slink- can't believe your Drs attitude. I was going to suggest changing your Dr too. I had the same sort of thing from my midwife. She didn't want to refer me for an early scan at the EPU because "they don't like to do scans before 10wks because they can't see anything." I rang the EPU and they said they could do a scan from 6wks. So I went to my Dr and she said the same thing as the m/w but she rang up for an appt. and was surprised when they gave me one.

Spub- excellent news from your scan.

I've found my dates go all over the place according to the scans as well. That 1st scan I thought I was 7+2 but the scan made out I was 6+3. The 2nd scan I thought I was 10+6 but they put me at 11+3, which then put me back at the 1st day of my LMP!

Wills · 22/11/2005 13:14

I agree with the SCAN dates and with Diddle's principle that loosing a week at this point would be awful - just that I'm not sure I'd be as confident at ignoring the results.

Slink I agree with the opinion for changing doctors. i would change mine except that the rumours about the doctor setting up the new surgery are even worse. Case of better the devil you know, besides she actually good in other areas on crap in the area of pregnancy. That comes I suspect from not having any children of her own. I suspect that some gps build up a very thick skin that helps them to deal with their patients - not that I'm saying its right.

Anyway. I'm still not sure about the doppler thing. It doesn't take much for me to panic and I could see myself at 2.00 am with a doppler spending hours desperately trying to find a heart beat with little desperately kicking me in attempt to be left alone in peace to sleep

coribells · 22/11/2005 13:22

Just had a little listen with my doppler. Heartbeating away strong and steady at 150

xmasspub · 22/11/2005 13:29

way hey!

jinglediddle · 22/11/2005 13:45

excellent cori, so glad you can hear it, I want one now. although i would get worried if i couldn't hear anything.

coribells · 22/11/2005 19:52

Have another scan tomorrow. I have to say this is the first one I am not worried about.

Wills · 22/11/2005 21:53

OK! Maybe I should start "watching" them on ebay.

Wills · 22/11/2005 21:55

Cori, diddle, Petunia, Enid, anyone else more than 14+3 weeks.....

Do you find that most days now it doesn't hurt but there are still days when you get the really heavy & periodish feelings again?

jinglediddle · 23/11/2005 07:52

wills i'm only 11+5 today so not quite as far along. not any period type pains, although i do occassionally have the odd twinge here and there which is very annoying and sometimes worrying, but then i remember that i have a grapefruit growing inside me by the second. theres so much going on down there, who knows why we all get these different aches and pains.
The only time i get worse pain is through wind which has been quite painful esp in the mornings.

petunia · 23/11/2005 10:22

Wills- I still get the period type pains, especially when I really need the loo! I hate it, makes me think I'm going to have another mc. There are some days when I feel pg and others when I don't.

Cori- good luck with your scan today.

Wills · 23/11/2005 12:49

Petunia, that's it exactly i.e. gets worse when I need the loo. Thanks.

Good luck Cori.

My scan is tomorrow morning.

jinglediddle · 23/11/2005 13:24

have you two been to the docs about the pains, could you have urine infections?

coribells - have you been scanned yet? how did it go?

wills - good luck for tomorrow. bet little babe will be waving away to you.

petunia · 23/11/2005 14:42

jinglediddle- don't think I've got a urine infection. Nothing showed up when I saw the midwife 2 weeks ago. I think it's more to do with everything being moved about down there!

coribells · 23/11/2005 17:21

Yes, have had my scan. All is well. I also asked the consultant to listen for babies heartbeat with the doppler, there were a few worried looks when she couldnt find it straight away (I wasnt worried because I had just seen it on the ultrascan)she eventually found it and got the same reading as I did yesterday, 150.
I havent told any one at the hospital that I have one because I have heard of women being told off for buying them because naturally they can increase your anxiety if baby is in a difficult position or it keeps moving.

Wills, i get period type pains when I need to go too.

Wills · 23/11/2005 17:30

Well... I'm bidding on one on ebay. Little one was kicking this morning so I'm not too pessimissitic at the moment but I'm sure that by tomorrow I'll be in full worry mode. So... whilst I'm filling a little more confident how are we all doing on the tummy stakes? Me my tummy is bigger than my breasts which is saying something being a size 32F! Wont stand on the scales but suspect that some of it is going to be done to the stodge that stops me feeling sick.

jinglediddle · 24/11/2005 07:49

wills tummy is growing rapidly here too, and i'm only 11+6, but everyone has commented on how big it is. Makes me feel more pregnant though, i quite like it, apart from when i ahve to choose clothes.
