As some of you already know I am currently 5 weeks pregnant after having had a missed miscarriage at 17 weeks in April of this year.
I am very pleased and excited to be pregnant again but at the same time full of fear and anxiety.
Their seems to be a lot of women on mumsnet at the moment who have experienced a recent miscarriage and are pregnant again. We all have the same worries.
Hopefully we can use this thread to offer each other mutual support and help keep each other positive.

hi diddle, well i am exhausted all the time, so i suppose thats a symptom although am wishing my boobs would grow!

cori · 09/11/2005 20:35

Wills, Glad to hear everything is OK.
They worry you needlessly sometimes dont they?

I had a scan today, saw babies heart beat.
They didnt measure the growth as they did it last week, and only will measure every two weeks. I suppose that makes sense, the growth would only be millimeters, and could easily be a little out.
Had serum screening test today. Am expecting to have a high risk, I have had a high risk with DS and the one that I lost, plus I am now over 35, so am preparing myself for that.
I probably wouldnt have bothered to be screened but I found out about last miscarriage as result of all the blood results being skewif. SO have a bit of an anxious wait until Teusday.

Cori - fingers crossed for Tuesday
Diddle - I'm doing ok, thanks.Just waiting for my scan on Nov 21st to make sure that thigs look ok...So glad that all is progressing well for you!

Diddle · 10/11/2005 11:39

cori - how lovely, i can't wait till my scan next week.

Stay calm, baby will be fine, don't worry, ths is our turn now.

petunia · 13/11/2005 10:21

Morning all,
Sorry not been on, it was a bit of a week last week. (Not baby related but if you go on the Money/legal matters discussion and go to my thread- Endowment claim turned down. Any advice? you'll get the gist of it. If you've got any advice, please add it too!) So I'm just catching up on everyone.

Wills- you had a bit of a week. How horrible. Don't need too many like that do you?

Cori- glad your scan went well.

I'm now not sure exactly how many wks and days pg I am. I saw the midwife on Thursday and she said I was 15+4 but going by the scan, I thought I was 15+6. I might go by the scan because Slinkstah and Diddle have Fridays as the end of another week and like I said last week, I say to myself every Friday " that's another week gone."

Hope everyone else is well.

slinkstah · 13/11/2005 22:39

hello everyone
cori i wanted to ask what kinda care you were getting now after losing your last pregnancy so late on? are you getting regular scans and more appointments?
i am too scared to go to my drs and book in, there are such bad memorys ther from last time i just can't face it. and i will probably throw something at my dr if she calls my 23weeks stillborn baby a fetus!
i can't seem to ring the hospital either, i don't know what to do.

Diddle · 14/11/2005 08:07

oh slink - you know i think you should go see someone, can;t you book yourself in with the midwife without seeing the doc? But i totally understand your reasons for beign scared, you've been through so much, so recently. I know when i ahve my scan they will definitly change my due date, at one of my previous scans they made me 4 days earlier than i thought, but i like counting using my fridays and i'd hate to suddenly lose almost a week because of the scan so i might keep counting my 40 wks and then add a couple at the end, think it will keep me going.

slinkstah · 14/11/2005 09:43

hi diddle, i know what you mean i always seem to lose a week with a scan it's gutting, i am counting as if i have a 28 day cycle, but i have a 25/26 day so hopefully when the scan dates me i won't lose a whole week.
i might start a thread to get advice on how to book in without going to your gp. i have the morning off uni- well i don't im actually skiving lol.

Diddle · 14/11/2005 10:34

how can your cycle length make any difference to your dates slink?

its so confusing. I know i ovulated around day 18 not the average day 14, so i'm prepared to lose a few days, and i'll know baby isn't as old as i think but i can't bear going backwards.

cori · 14/11/2005 10:41

Slinkstah,
I have to say the care I have recieved so far has been fantastic. I had my first scan at around 6 weeks, I had my booking in appointment at the hospital and another scan at 12 weeks. I met with my consultant and she offerred me weekly scans (and the option of having weekly appointments with her as well) up until 20 weeks. She said if I feel comfortable after that I would go back to the normal appointments after that.

I am feeling a bit nervous today, had a little bit of spotting yesterday, havent called anyone yet, am too scared. No pain or anything.

OP posts:
Diddle · 14/11/2005 10:47

cori - has the spotting continued? or has it stopped now? its totally normal in pregnancy, as i know you know. but that doesn't stop you worrying does it. Whens your next scan then?

slinkstah · 14/11/2005 10:50

i think having a shorter cycle means my due date is 21st not 23rd not much different really

cori- omg i think you should go down to the hospital now, its probably nothing to worry about but it's best to get checked out, have a scan and find out where the blood is from.

Diddle · 14/11/2005 10:52

oh right slink - i didn't realise it made any difference, i guess it depends when you ovulated.

cori · 14/11/2005 11:07

It was literally on two small spots on the tissue when I went to the toilet yesterday.
No more blood since then.
My next scan is on Wednesday anyway. Even if it is a sign of the worst there is nothing they can do anyway is there.

OP posts:
slinkstah · 14/11/2005 11:17

if it's only a small amount it could well be from you, especially if you and dp have had nooky. try not to worry too much.

Wills · 14/11/2005 12:10

Cori, would echo the others in getting your scan bought forward if only for the agony of waiting period being shorter. Big big fingers crossed. My bleeds turned out to be the cysts.

Sorry I haven't been around went down with a chest infection and cold. Have been curled up in bed. Back at work today but still virtually no voice just a squeak.

Diddle · 14/11/2005 14:32

oh no wills, how depressing, don't think i could cope with a cold or infection at the moment. got enough with this morning sickness.

cori - sounds like its just a little bleed, i'd try and get a scan just to reassure yourself though.

slinkstah · 14/11/2005 14:53

i was brave and rang the hospital, they said they cannot book me in without a gp referral, great! i will have to go to my gp, that will take a week to get appointment and she will make an appointment for me to see the nurse a week later, who will do a pg test and then tell me to book an appointment with the dr, all in all just to get a referal it will take ages and then they will bully me into shared care and going to a hospital that is miles away.

Diddle · 14/11/2005 15:50

don't you let them bully you into anything slink, you stand your ground, this is your baby. whats your alternative to shared care? in your area?

slinkstah · 14/11/2005 16:04

Theres domino care or just midwife care in my area, i'd be happy with any, but i think shared care is annoying as it will mean that i have to see my dr for every appointment other than scans at hospital as there is no community midwifes working from my drs surgery. my dr doesn't seem to know much about pregnancy.

Diddle · 14/11/2005 16:23

thats naff slink - can't you change doctors.

cori · 14/11/2005 16:37

Slinkstah, you need full hospital/consultant led care for this pregnancy. Jeez, you had a stillbirth, dont let them bully you into anything.

I think the bleeding may have been related to heamaroids. I have a bit bleeding today from that area and it genereally feels a bit sore so that could be it.
I have to speak to midwife tomorrow to get the blood test results, so I will mention it.

Somehow, I just dont feel right.

OP posts:
slinkstah · 14/11/2005 17:13

i will call my dr tommorrow and get an appointment. my dp rang today and i heard him smoking, he has been lieing to me saying he hasn't been smoking, i am so mad with him, how can he look me in the eye and lie like that. giving up smoking was not easy for me either but have done it because of this pregancy.

cori -how do you mean you do not feel right? i hope you are taking it easy.

cori · 14/11/2005 19:36

maybe being paranoid. I was feeling movement last week, but not the same now. I have a heavy feeling right down near the pubic bone, similar feeling before last miscarriage ( Though I have misinterpreted this sensation before )
I also dont think I look as pregnant as I did.

Will be calling midwife/consultant,or someone tomorrow.

OP posts:
slinkstah · 14/11/2005 20:03

yes good idea to call someone tomorrow, you should keep off your feet until then, the heavy feeling might go away if you lie down. its probably baby in a funny position. let us know how you go tomorrow
