Hello. Mumsnetters have been so fantastic coming up with lists and lists of names for us to ponder.

We've narrowed down our fave boys and girls names although we're pretty certain we'll be having another girl. This is our last baby and we're beside ourselves when it comes to choosing the name/s, this time round it feels like such a huge responsibility!

G- Noemi or Matilda
B- Arthur or Felix

What do you think will he/she has 13 others in their class with the same name?

I think Tilly is very pretty too. hadn't thought of that Hubby was worried it may get shortened to Matty, I'm not too fussed. None of our children use their full names ever.

What about Noemi? I personally I adore it. Most people we've discussed this with have politely gone..mmmmmmmmm it's ok.

I don't want to saddle this one with a name they'll hate. Did anyone else worry about this?

All of those names are going up in the popularity charts except Matilda, which is going down. (I'd never heard of Noemi- did you mean Naomi?)

names here

libbyss · 28/08/2005 23:36

Hello Tallulah.
Noemi is either the French or Spanish version of Naomi

paolosgirl · 28/08/2005 23:36

Noemi is the Douay version of Naomi.

May I ask how to literally pronounce Noemi - it looks lovely in print, but I'm thinking I may be saying it wrongly.
Love Matilda (am a fan of Tilly)
Also like the shortened forms of Arthur. Not so keen on Felix, but it's all down to your choice - my ds2 has a name no-one was sure about, but it suits him down to the ground and no-one bats an eyelid now.

Aero · 29/08/2005 00:08

I guess I mean is it pronounced with a sort of a french accent?

clary · 29/08/2005 00:09

ooooh I love those actually.
Will pick Arthur and Matilda as top two.
No, my exp is that he/she will be the only one in the class (but not totally weird iykwim).
Naomi spelled like that perhaps more popular. Not come across Noemi (do you say it the same is my only concern). Felix getting more popular but still unusual.

jampots · 29/08/2005 00:09

matilda and felix

clary · 29/08/2005 00:12

in school terms, I know one tilly and one Matilda; there is one Arthur in DS1's year at school but no Felix.
Don't know any Noemis but one or 2 Naomi's, none in DS1's yr tho.

hunkermunker · 29/08/2005 00:15

Would say that a future Noemi would have to spell her name a lot more than a future Matilda!

Prefer Matilda to Noemi and Felix to Arthur.

babyonboard · 29/08/2005 00:32

i like felix...v. nice!
not too common, and not an 'in vogue' name, so i think you'll be safe not having loads of friends named the same, or a name that is too unusual to have the p taken out of at school

RTKangaMummy · 29/08/2005 00:37

one of our best friends is ARTHUR and he doesn't shorten it

suits him too
