I'm now 33 weeks and I know it's not an exact science but I'm curious to hear as I'm always told that I'll likely be overdue as it's my 1st. But I do wonder as I'm reasonably active and my cycle was less than 28 days. I'm moving house around 36 weeks, so I hope the stress of that doesn't affect anything but also the idea of going to 42 weeks fills me with dread.

Basically, are most 1st babies 40 weeks plus?

Moved house at 32wks. Was v active, worked til 37wks, dc1 at 38 +3. But it was the stressful trip to Ikea that started it all off I reckon.Don't recommend it tbh!
FWIW dc2 was 39wks and dc3 39+4.

Read somewhere the average for 1st baby is 40+10, and 40+8 for subsequent.

Mimile · 12/08/2010 20:28

42 Hmm

PinkyMe · 12/08/2010 20:30

Just under 37 weeks. 90 min labour, no complications. She was my first and only 6.4 pounds. I'm a big girl (almost 6 foot), so was a big shock to have such a small baby. Rest of my family thought she couldn't possibly be mine.

Mimile · 12/08/2010 20:30

... and she would have stayed in longer

TooBlessedToBeStressed · 12/08/2010 20:31

42--had to be induced coz in Norway they won't let you go further than 42,,even then my DD was not ready to come out,,i could have gone for more weeks really,,

PacificDogwood · 12/08/2010 20:33

42+1
31+4 Don't ask, placenta praevia, emCS
41+5
40 bang on target, 3 hour labour from start (waters breaking) to finish Grin.

Good luck, OP, if you are still following this Smile.

deepdarkwood · 12/08/2010 21:01

Lenni · 12/08/2010 21:03

JulesJules · 12/08/2010 21:04

On her due day [preen] Grin

Lenni · 12/08/2010 21:06

Oh and 39+1 for DS, I was much more active when pg with him, much better labour etc. Have a long cycle.

belgina · 12/08/2010 21:08

DC1 39+5
DC2 40+2
DC3 40+5

Hmmm, I can see a pattern emerging here. Who wants to place bets on DC4 (if there ever were one) coming at 41+1? Grin

BabyValentine · 12/08/2010 21:08

37+1

NorbertDentressangle · 12/08/2010 21:08

37 + 3 (waters broke at 37)

SpeedyGonzalez · 12/08/2010 21:21

Both babies 13 days late. As long as all the indicators are fine (heartbeat, amnio fluid, condition of placenta) there's no reason to push things. Good luck, OP!

LoveJules3 · 12/08/2010 21:26

42, dead on. Would have been induced earlier but they only do emergencies over Christmas!

LoveJules3 · 12/08/2010 21:30

Oh, Dc2 was 39+5 Induced again cos my hind waters went at 39w

Dc3 was 41+6. He didn't want to come out either!

I've yet to go into labour naturally. :(
