What week was your 1st baby born?

I'm now 33 weeks and I know it's not an exact science but I'm curious to hear as I'm always told that I'll likely be overdue as it's my 1st. But I do wonder as I'm reasonably active and my cycle was less than 28 days. I'm moving house around 36 weeks, so I hope the stress of that doesn't affect anything but also the idea of going to 42 weeks fills me with dread.

Basically, are most 1st babies 40 weeks plus?

41+6, though I had to be induced due to low amniotic fluid.

aendr · 13/08/2010 08:24

My waters broke at 38+1, but he wasn't born till 38+3.

I'm now 38+2 with no 2 and on tenterhooks because I just don't know when she'll appear.

popsycal · 13/08/2010 08:25

long cycle
induced at 38+5 due to pre-eclampsia but already looked to bein early labour

never gone past my due date with all 3

ds2 a day early
ds3 two weeks early

oldenoughtowearpurple · 13/08/2010 08:29

Both babies born @ 40 exactly as projected from the 20wk scan (ie she said 'you are 20 weeks today and ds born exactly 20 weeks later).

Acording to dates this meant ds born 39+4 and dd born 40

But I was told that 80% of first babies are late.

BTW you are mad to be moving house at 36 weeks - flagrant invocation of Sod's Law there!

BalloonSlayer · 13/08/2010 08:47

41 + 6 - ELCS after broken waters, syntocinon and dynamite had all failed.

10 years later, it's a quarter to nine and the lazy bugger is still in bed.

ElusiveMoose, you don't HAVE to be induced though - you can opt for monitoring instead. You only have to be induced if the baby is in danger, or if there is a serious risk to your health. As long as baby and you are happy you can go over due.

Conundrumish · 13/08/2010 09:32

39 +5

40 + 6 days - after a sweep. Most of my friends have been late with their first babies

41wks with 1st baby and following a very thorough sweep! All the best

bintofbohemia · 13/08/2010 10:17

both 40+6. Both on EDD as calculated originally from my dates, rather than the revised dates after scans.

tigger32 · 13/08/2010 10:30

ds1 39 weeks
ds2 on due date
ds3 39 + 4

MlleB · 13/08/2010 10:44

Active; fit; long cycle.

  1. Induced by every method known to medical science. Emergency caesarean.

Good luck.

scarlettdebee · 13/08/2010 10:51

My first baby was born bang on time. I went into labour the day she was due and gave birth the following day

WillbeanChariot · 13/08/2010 11:01

Moonstorm

Thanks for asking, my DS is going to be one next week. He's very small for his age and a bit behind but going at his own pace and should be fine eventually. Smile

lou4791 · 13/08/2010 11:02

Most first babies are born after 40 weeks. My first was 40+5, my second 40+9.

Rhian82 · 13/08/2010 11:16

DS (first and only) was born 10 days early, at 38 and a half weeks.

I was gutted as I hadn't gone on maternity leave until 38 weeks and was really hoping to enjoy a couple of weeks of relaxing and my last ever lie ins!

Littlepurpleprincess · 13/08/2010 12:46

36+6.

BabyValentine · 13/08/2010 12:55

galonthefarm, my DD was born at 37+1 weeks, and myself and my 2 siblings were born between 2-12 weeks premature.

If women are more likely to be overdue if their mother was overdue, does it work t'other way I wonder?

Anybody know what the middle-class likelihood refers to?

Hulababy · 13/08/2010 13:00

DD was born at 41+5, followed failed induction and c section.

My mum had three children. AFAIK none went overdue, and I (first born) was sightly early.

AnneinEdinburgh · 13/08/2010 13:02

43 after 3 days of failing to induce I had an emergency c-section

pigleychez · 13/08/2010 13:04

DD1 was born at 40+12.

She was evicted by induction!

MrsDmamee · 13/08/2010 13:08

40 weeks on due date

PawMum · 13/08/2010 13:12
