I need some objectivity - How many mcs? how many dcs? how old are you?

hi, just wanted to hear some stories so i can have an objective view rather than make things up in my worried mind.

am 39, have had two previous mcs, with a perfect gorgeous ds in between, and think am having another mc.

any info relating to three mcs on internet seem to relate to women who have not had any succesful pregnancies.

please give me a bit of perspective on this.

many thanks

I am 28

1 late'ish mc (roughly 13/14/15 weeks)

DS1

4 early mc (before 7 weeks)

DS2

2 mc's (both 7 weeks)

Currently 10+4 and shitting myself!

I have "spoken" to a lot of people who have one one successful pregnancy and then 3mc's or more.

kcoffin27 · 25/07/2010 21:30

Hi I have had 6 mcs and also have 2 ds's, and currently 38 weeks
I had my first ds then 3 mcs, then my other ds then another 3 mcs and now 38 weeks, so there you can be succesful Fingers crossed for you that all is ok with this one.

kcoffin27 · 25/07/2010 21:31

didnt mean to write ''so there you can be succesful'' it was meant to say there is good news, you can be succesful

Aitch · 25/07/2010 21:33

two ectopics, one probable miscarriage (too young to test but all very sus at the time) and two successful pregnancies. hope things work out for you.

kalo12 · 25/07/2010 21:33

I've had 1 mmc, dd, and another mmc. Currently too scared to try again. I've been told to take folic acid for 3 months, iron, and baby aspirin as they can all help but I suspect that totally depends on the cause of the mc. Good luck.

deemented · 25/07/2010 21:36

I had investigations at the local miscarraige unit after the second miscarraige - tested for CF/Huhes, all the usual things, but no reason was ever found. Though they did increase my progesterone suppositries with the triplet pregnancy, and advised me to take baby asprin too, which i did.

banana87 · 25/07/2010 21:37

Oh and I am 30 (28 when I had DD).

Julezboo · 25/07/2010 21:39

Kalo, I have ad two lots of investigations, first lot was before DS2 was conceived, I was foud to have a clotting disorder called factor V Leiden. With DS2 I had daily low dose heparin injections.

My second lot of investigations where done at the beginning of this year after my mc at christmas, they found I have a septate uterus, so they now think that when I have mc'd its because it was inplanted on the septate where there is no blood supply.

This time round I am on Clexane injections daily, 75mg Aspirin, 800mg progesterone and a higher dose of folic acid. It seems to be doing the trick, fingers crossed.

My Mum says that in her day it was quite normal and women expected to lose a few pregnancies. Often they didn't know, of course, because they didn't have HPTs, but also they didn't expect to control their fertility the way we do. It's given me some perspective to think of it like that sometimes.

TheNextMrsDepp · 25/07/2010 22:38

It's true, people have no idea how common MCs are (not to say they're not distressing). I remember being told the MC statistics when I was first PG and being absolutely shocked.

I was lucky, three DCs and no MCs but I am almost alone amongst my friends (all mums), many of whom had the experiences described above - MCs, but interspersed with successful PGs.

Good luck all of you bumps; no reason to believe you won't succeed this time.
