hi, just wanted to hear some stories so i can have an objective view rather than make things up in my worried mind.

am 39, have had two previous mcs, with a perfect gorgeous ds in between, and think am having another mc.

any info relating to three mcs on internet seem to relate to women who have not had any succesful pregnancies.

please give me a bit of perspective on this.

many thanks

I'm 35.

I had DS1 but had an unexplained bleed at 8 weeks which could have a mc but he was there, heart beating away. I've never been so relieved.

I had 2 further mcs and then very quickly conceived DS2, who is 15 months. On the advice of my GP I took baby aspirin with him.

If we decide to go for number 3 I shall try not to test too early.

mumatron · 25/07/2010 23:05

hi kalo.

i'm 29 have 2 dc and have had 3 mc. currently 18 weeks with dc 3.

ds, born when i was 18

dd born 3 years later

mmc1 11wks when i was 26

mc2 5 wks again aged 26

mmc3 9wks 27

mmc4 9wks 27

tests were pretty inconclusive but did point to clotting issues (free protein s levels low on 3 out of 4 tests) saw consultant who advised 150mg aspirin daily (tried 75mg on mc 4) 20mg claxane and double dose folic acid.

only other thing i would mention is that the consultant i saw on the nhs thought that my mc were down to the fact that dp has very poor sperm morphology. his theory was that my 'non-fussy' womb was letting very poor quality embryo's implant and they were being miscarried later. but, this is the cons who told me i only had a 1% chance of having a baby without icsi.

should of said, hope things work out for you kalo

randomimposter · 26/07/2010 07:02

I get your point kalo 12.

Am 42. Had DS at 40, then MMC@13 at 41, and MMC@11 at 42 (2 days after my birthday).
Currently 9 weeks today, so keeping all crossed.

However I'm minded of the (re)quote.... if at first you don't succeed, try, try, try again. Then give up, there's no point being a bloody fool about it.

I'm not sure how many tries again I will do.

Good luck. (At 39 you're a youngster to me ).

Hi Kalo.

I'm 44, currently 14wks pregnant.

I had three dcs between the ages of 33 and 37.
Tried for a fourth child at the age of 40, and had four m/cs in a row, the last one in Feb this year.

Totally amazed to become pregnant in May, and so far, so good with this one.

As Jollster said, you're practically a teenager in my eyes!

Best of luck to you.

mc2 (at 10 weeks)
DS1
DS2

I was 33 and 34 when I had my MCs and 35 and 37 when the boys were born.

Fingers crossed that everything will be all right, but why do you think you're miscarrying again kalo12?

slimyak · 26/07/2010 08:40

MC 1 at 9 weeks
MC 2 at 7 weeks

DD all good ( I was 35)

MMC 11 weeks development ( I was 37)

Now I'm 38 and 14 weeks preg, so far so good. But worth previous history I am of course taking it one step at a time.

kalo Can you/have you had an early scan.

They don't offer early scans in my area unless you have bleeding or pain, even with MC in your history. But I went to our midwife drop in and they phoned around until they found a sympathetic sonographer who understands the importance of a reasurance scan.

Restrainedrabbit · 26/07/2010 08:49

4 MCs and 2 DCs plus another on the way (29 weeks pregnant)

Restrainedrabbit · 26/07/2010 08:51

Oh I'm 34 BTW, I have a friend who had her last baby at 40 and had two MCs and 3 babies.

iwasyoungonce · 26/07/2010 08:53

aged 33-34 - mc x 3
aged 35 - DS

QueeferSutherland · 26/07/2010 09:03

Isn't it "average" that 1/4 pregnancies end in m/c? Iam Mrs Average
I have had 2 suspected (by Dr) m/c when I was a teenager, but I don't really think of them as pregnancies IYSWIM.

I have had 4 pregnancies
3 Livebirths
1 ectopic.

I'm 29.

Someone at work recently delivered after 9 m/cs!
(Yes I had a little private sob at my desk.)

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 26/07/2010 09:13

I am 38.

m/c at 31 (missed m/c)
DS at 32
early m/c at 34
DD at 35
early m/c at 37
currently 9.5 weeks pregnant and hoping this one stands a good chance as I'm past my normal miscarriage point.

BalloonSlayer · 26/07/2010 09:22

1st m/c (6 weeks) at age 28
2nd m/c (11 weeks but missed) at age 34
3rd m/c (6 weeks) at age 35
1st DC at age 35 (didn't have ERPC after m/c and got pg straight away, God, phew that I decided not to have one),
2nd DC at age 37
3rd DC (surprise, accident) at age 43

I am 45 now.

Deptfordwife · 26/07/2010 09:41

Hi Kalo

Hope you have been reassured about whether or not you are mc again. When I was in similar position with dc1 following a recent mc I went to GP who just said wait and see. Great. When I said I was frantic with worry and fear and making up all sorts of things in my head with the worry of it, she said had I ever considered I might have a problem with depression?

So phoned up the maternity unit where I was booked and managed to persuade them to let me in for a particular special blood test (can't remember which one, sorry) which can tell for sure. Which was against the rules (they don't get 'paid' for doing a test unless there is a GP referral letter to go with it) but they did it, and baby was ok. A great example of how brilliant the MWs can be ..... if you can be demanding...

Mc and age history:

38 mc @ 6 weeks
39 ds1
40 mc @ 6 weeks
41 20 wks pregnant

Good luck and hope you are ok today.

peanutpie · 26/07/2010 09:43

1st m/c at 28 (12 weeks)
2nd m/c at 31 (8 weeks)
1st child at 33
3rd m/c at 36 (10 weeks)

currently 39 weeks pregnant and 37.

I left long gaps between first two miscarriages and took a long time to get pregnant. This time I got straight on with it after the m/c and fell pregnant straight away. If anything it seems like I've found it easier to get pregnant as I got older.

After the 3rd m/c I had some genetic testing which turned out OK. Got the results after I was pregnant again.

Never tried any special diet but did give up my job after the second mc. I found the combination of fertility problems and a horrid stressful job too difficult to cope with.

My consultant suggested to me that I should put half a stone in weight on as well - which may have helped!
