I'm sure DS (2.7) is more than ready but have been putting it off as long as possible. Today is the day I bite the bullet.

I sneaked out in lunch break yesterday and bought:

2 potty's
1 loo seat things
12 pairs of pants
2 pairs tracksuit bottoms
Some fab 'Cars' stamps (combining DS favourite loves - 'Cars' and stamps)

So far we have had 3 wees on potty (woot, holler, high fives), 2 wees on floor.

Am calm, but bored to death. Want to go out and do stuff!

Is it ok to have Cbeebies marathon when potty training!?

well done to all those have managed to hit in the right place today- and those that are still sane after not hitting the potty!!
we made it down the motorway got into my sisters caravan and dd wee'd on the floor she got soo excited over my sisters dogs she loves them.
we then decided to wash caravan witht he children so did put nappy on as jumping in puddles was too much fun for dd the potty was long forgotten. will see how things go tomorrow.
must say i'm not too fussed at the mo i break up from uni in a couple of weeks, have a month off for easter so was planning on tackiling the potty then, so if yesterday was a fluke day i'm proud of her but not fussed if she doesnt keep it up ( if that makes sense)

bbw, aw thats funny, bless him, hes trying hard though isnt he.

Sounds like everyone is doing really well. I think we all deserve to treat ourselves this weekend.

Had another dry day, so thats no accidents since saturday lunchtime. I think we might have cracked it. Going to go to the park on the weekend, so thats the biggest test.

dylsmum1998 · 20/02/2008 19:53

God you lot make me feel MUCH better !!!!
Also large glass of white helps.
Smartie incident was hysterical - he's a smart one that one.
Mine finally off to bed, takes himself off to do a wee on the potty so a bit of a breakthrough - although am worried he will have a real set back tomorrow at nursery.
We'll see !

chocolateshoes · 20/02/2008 20:37

Cheers everyone - am combining white wine, chocolate & NightNurse. Have completely lost my voice now.

shoptilidrop · 21/02/2008 08:21

I started a week ago today.

Nettee · 21/02/2008 10:33

morning everyone - how is it going? DS has not weed yet today at all but has happily sat on the potty and spontaneously sat on his loo seat on the proper loo with a book saying that he was going to do a wee wee. So maybe today will be a better day for us. In the mean time I am taking comfort from the thread about 3 year olds not being interested in training and the stories about overnight training when the toddler decides to do it.

bigbadwolf - the story about the smarties is brilliant - cheered me up no end.

chocolateshoes · 21/02/2008 13:25

Am just not sure any progress has been made for the last few days. Only 1 accident so far today - a wee. To be fair he was eating his lunch and my parents were here & I think he was distracted. He didn't mention it until a spotted the pool of wee & then asked for dry pants and trousers. I feel so grim today - this is the worse cold I've had for a long time. I have no voice at all. There's no way I would have done this this week if I had been feeling like this then. Oh well! Ds is getting bored because we are stuck in but I feel so ill I don't want to go out. So he is getting rather demanding and fractious.

Sorry to moan - needed to ntell someone!

Hope you're all doing well!

claraquitetirednow · 21/02/2008 13:35

hi - have not had a chance to read the whole thread but wanted to add my experience. DD is 2 years and 5 months and has really been ready for potty training for a while but I haven't pushed it as I had another baby in December.
However last week, after lots of encouragment and bribery, she finally used the potty to do a pee.
There has been no stopping her since then!
She has only had 2 accidents (both pees) in just over a week and is now asking to use the potty or just going when she needs to if I am, eg, in the shower.
I can't believe it!!
However, I have mostly been at home and as she won't yet use a toilet I am not sure what we are going to do when out and about - especially if I am with the baby as well.
Plus she always gets chocolate, as well as a star, when she goes so will have to wean her off that.
Also it may all just be a novelty and I don't want to get too complacent as it could all go to pot yet....

Nettee · 21/02/2008 13:38

Chocolateshoes - I don't know how you are doing it with your cold. DH has it too and actually took his first sick day in six years yesterday so it must be bad. Potty training is so frustrating isn't it - and all the accidents so disheartening.

We have had two accidents today and no sucesses. I feel as if I am only continuing to prove to everyone else that I have given it a proper try and that DS really isn't ready yet - bit of a silly reason to keep going really. Oh Well DH can take over for the weekend and then he will see for himself what we are up against - oh and all the grandparents will be here on Sunday - not that they are nagging really to be fair.

I am finding it hard to get the balance between nagging DS and not trying to train him at all.

Anyway moan away - I think that is what this thread is here for.......

Nettee · 21/02/2008 13:46

Clara - that sounds brilliant, well done you and your DD. Can I ask - what made you think your DD was definately ready? my DS ticks most of the boxes but just doesn't seem to be.

chocolateshoes · 21/02/2008 14:05

Clara well done!
Nettee - thanks for the support. Have just eaten a lemon tart & feel a bit better - sugar high! Let your DH have a go & then decide together what to do. But do whats best for you 3 not the rest of the family!

Mum1369 · 21/02/2008 17:02

Hello All

Just got mine from nursery so skipped the hell of it today. Two accidents at nursery and one wee on the loo (well thats what they said, but then again they told my DH something different so who knows) Poo incident before leaving the house - most of the carpet and the rest down his legs)
Doesn't seem to be going that well, but all in all not too bad - also am off into town tonight & DH is babysitting so who cares...!
Clara - v.jealous
Nettee - put your feet up over the w/e !
Choc - Poor you, hope the cold gets better - keep on mixing the wine & night nurse

Nettee · 21/02/2008 18:02

Right no success today and DS asked for nappies this afternoon so I am officially stopping until I get some enthusiasm from DS. Feeling much happier now I have made that decision. Good luck to everyone sticking with it. I will be thinking of you

chocolateshoes · 21/02/2008 19:37

I think you have done the right thing Nettee and good luck for the next time round.

Mum1369 - that doesn't sounds too bad. You lucky thing - you had a day off!

DS much better this afternoon. He woke up from his nap in a much better mood. And no accidents! And a big poo in the loo! yay! Running low on choc buttons now! And even better news DP is working from home tomorrow so will be around to help a bit. Will carry on with my concoction of wine and NN, and have added an aneasthetic throat spray into the equation!

nettee - my dd has been able to tell us for a while when she needed/had done a poo. if she was naked she would ask for a nappy to be put on if she needed to do a poo. then she started asking us to change her nappy after she had done a wee too. she has also been dry at night for a few weeks but i am too nervous to take her nappy off at night! she was basically there but didn't want to use the potty. however once`she did use it and realised it wasn't scary, plus she got choc buttons for doing it, its been fine.

moral of my story i guess is its usually easier to wait until they are definitely ready even if it takes a while.

however i am hardly an expert!

chocolateshoes · 22/02/2008 13:24

How are you all doing? Nearly a week already!! No wee accidents so far. Poo in pants at playgroup - didn't surprise me!

Mum1369 · 22/02/2008 16:19

DH just gone to pick him up from nursery - am awaiting to see how many little bags of soiled clothing he arrives back with...fingers crossed !
BBW - PMSL abou the willy waving - what is that about ?! Mine is completely willy obsessed now that he can see it and get to it, he won't leave it alone ! I was going to say, when do they grow out of it ? But guess that would produce too much humour......

PrincessPeaHead · 22/02/2008 16:53

Hi everybody. I need HELP! DD2 (2.1) has been training for 3 days now. She has the bladder control of an elephant, but will NOT pee on the loo/potty. So she spends all morning get increasingly anxious and hopping up and down almost crying because she need sthe loo so much, and will sit on the loo/potty happily, but can't relax enough to let it go. Then during her nap after lunch she pees about a litre into her sodden nappy, and then holds it all in again until the evening.

Now this can't be good for her little bladder. HOW can I persuade her to pee when I know she desperately needs to? She isn't wetting her pants (well maybe a drop or two at a time). We have read books on the loo, sang songs, turned on the tap for encouragement, I've even tickled her and NADA. If anyone has any ideas I'd be very grateful.....

PrincessPeaHead · 22/02/2008 16:56

oh and obviously I'm waving chocolate in front of her as a bribe too (well not literally, but talking about it a lot)

Mum1369 · 22/02/2008 18:04

Oh no that must be really frustrating (literally for her !) - got to say if she is getting upset and will really only wee in her nappy, then I would probably just leave her in a nappy and try again at a later date.
But then I am a complete pushover....
Sorry, haven't got any advice - am sure someone will though if you hang around here long enough.
Good luck
