Exclusively breastfeeding mamas

How soon after giving birth did you get your first period? Just wondering as I'm 9 weeks postpartum and haven't gotten mine yet, just a bit of light spotting for a few days the other week. I've read that it can take longer for exclusively breastfeeding mamas to get their first period as baby's sucking motion sends a signal which halts ovulation?

7 months on, still waiting. Needless to say, my baby is not sleeping through the night!

quackaday · 19/07/2018 18:30

It was around 7 months for me too - basically once dc were eating solids (and therefore having less milk).

FurryGiraffe · 19/07/2018 18:36

8 months with DS1 and 9 with DS2 (both EBF).

Lacymacy123 · 19/07/2018 18:38

5 months but a very light period which lasted 24 hours.

spugzbunny · 19/07/2018 18:39

4 and a half months and nothing!

AHedgehogCanNeverBeBuggered · 19/07/2018 18:40

10 months here.

Mindchilder · 19/07/2018 18:40

DD is 10 months and I haven't been exclusively breastfeeding for about 5 months now Grin

JoanFrenulum · 19/07/2018 18:42

7 months here, started solids at 4.5m

Lulubelle15 · 19/07/2018 18:42

I didn't get mine till 13 months pp after I went back to work.

thatsmyjoomper · 19/07/2018 18:43

11 months but my friend's baby has just turned 12 weeks and she's mightily pissed off to have just got hers back!!

Qcumber · 19/07/2018 18:44

11 weeks :(

EdithWeston · 19/07/2018 18:45

6 weeks, despite feeding on demand round the clock.

Drat.

Marlo83 · 19/07/2018 18:55

1st baby was around 14 months. Still bf at 11 months and no sign yet Grin

TirederThanYou · 19/07/2018 18:58

DC1 after 9 months
DC2 after 13 months

Both still feeding loads at the time.

This explains it really well: kellymom.com/ages/older-infant/fertility/

Roomba · 19/07/2018 18:59

23 months first time and 4.5 years second time round!

(Obviously I was only exclusively bf for six months each time and gave solid food as well after that Grin)

PippilottaLongstocking · 19/07/2018 19:03

Had first one around 9 months PP, two months later no sign of the next one...

Helbelle75 · 19/07/2018 19:04

8 months and we're pretty regular from a start. Pmt was horrendous though.

ReginaFalangii · 19/07/2018 19:04

Recently had my first one, daughter is 15 months old!

Foodylicious · 19/07/2018 19:05

Was 15 months here

GlennRheeismyfavourite · 19/07/2018 19:05

6 months - it was disappointingly fast!

foxitude · 19/07/2018 19:18

10 months first time, 7 months second time and just got them back at 11 months third time.
As you can see, it's quite variable!

Changeymcchangechange · 19/07/2018 21:11

I had one at about eight months but I've not had one since (baby nearly 11 months). Definitely not pregnant. I think it can take a while for them to settle down, but I'm back to work soon and although we're going to carry on feeding I expect that to bring another one on soonish.

MrsH193 · 19/07/2018 21:44

I'm nearly 6 months and still waiting for mine.

FranticallyPeaceful · 19/07/2018 21:45

6 months with my eldest and then about 10 weeks with my second. Currently just shy of 9 weeks and still nothing touch wood

DramaAlpaca · 19/07/2018 21:46

4 months.
