Hello everyone,

spot That book sounds perfect for getting to sleep! I got out of the university library once for an essay on the ethics of punishment called 'The Coming Penal Crisis' by A.E. Bottoms. I giggle childishly whenever I think of it .

kiwi DD does the exact same thing re lying on the floor and pushing herself backwards! I think she has just learnt to do it and finds it amusing. When I picked her up from nursery the other day she and another girl were moving along backwards together laughing away.

trace Well done L on her school prize! Have you lots of fun stuff planned for the holidays?

avo I can imagine DD doing a similar thing with the book! She stamped her foot with annoyance today when she didn't get her own way.

summer Great news on the house. Getting the removal people to pack sounds like a fantastic idea.

We took DD to an airfield on Sunday as she is currently obsessed with planes. Everytime she hears one overhead we have to pick her up and try and spot it in the sky. If you don't look properly she will actually grab your chin and push your head upwards. There were lots of little planes and helicopers to watch taking off and landing. She loved it! Plus only £1 for parking for two hours. Bargain!

EffiePerine · 12/07/2010 16:08

Jolly: your DD should get together with my DS1. And Poison's DS as well. We once took them to Kew Gardens and they spent the entire afternoon pointing at planes. dH has now convinced DS1 that all planes are full of aliens. My suggestion that they might gave people in them was dismissed with scorn.

SummerLightning · 12/07/2010 16:11

Hello, I am back.
I have been so lazy today. Just sleeping and round to a friends house. I need to pack my hospital bag but can't be bothered. Must do it before we move and put it in the back of the car or I will never find anything I need!

effie we are moving on Thursday. Not long -eek.

jolly DS loves planes too. They are called "banes" though. They are not quite as popular as KAaaaas (cars) and Bikes though. Big temper this morning as he wanted to go to nursery on the bike and I couldn't find his helmet!

avo your determined DD2 sounds the opposite of my DS. He has the attention span of a gnat. He cries at something for about 20 secs and then finds something else to play with!!

ladyt little O sounds very musical! Even if Old McD on repeat must get a bit annoying. Boo about the cricket trip. Though I think you are very brave even considering it!

Hello beans you sound like you are doing very well especially if pru has colic/reflux probs. Fingers crossed it gets better very soon, and hurrah for 7 hrs sleep. Hope the tooth stops giving you grief as well.

trace stop being so blimmin hard on yourself! You are ace. Which of us does feel like we have time to keep things tidy/do shopping when we have kids..hmmm...you can't be as lazy as me today....ha! Oh and I don't think I could discipline P either, she is too cute!! Seriously, I don't know what you do with them when they ignore you at this age. The thing is they definitely do understand don't they, but they won't do as they are asked!!! GRRRRRR!

mom and wg hope you are both still doing well! Good luck mom for your scan this week.

hmmm....maybe I should get off my arse and actually do something useful! I have eaten almost a whole packet of Haribo today and feel a bit sick.

LadyThompson · 12/07/2010 17:50

Ah, well - planes are "ganes" here. Everything is still g. Butterfly is still gutterguy, a bee is a gee...Mind you, a tree is also a gee I am amazed, Summer, that they didn't pick anything up on your bloods although you have probably been ill instead as you say. When I was anaemic though it was the breathlessness I really noticed more than anything, it was like having an asthma attack! (Not that I have ever had one of those). I am thrilled you are finally moving. It is such good news, if a little hectic. I was just thinking, though, that given that I will have a new little one in about 9 weeks and my estimate is 6-8 weeks worth of work left with the wind behind us, we really need to push on. Getting people to move you really is a brilliant idea (we can't afford it this time!) - however, make sure they label the boxes, unlike the dunderheads who moved me.

I should start writing a new book really but I am so fed up about the other one being in effective abeyance, it's hard to pick up the old pen. But that is NO EXCUSE.

Effie, I love the idea of going to that horticultural Mecca, Kew Gardens to look at PLANES

Right...more tidying...

katie3677 · 12/07/2010 17:56

Hi all, just popping on quickly so haven't had a chance to read back more than a couple of pages. Do we have any more babies yet?
I have joined the clackered club, which in turn both terrifies me and ... actually, on reflection it just terrifies me! I'm not sure I'm cut out for three, and with everything else that is going on it is not the best timing. I'm also quite concerned about the associated problems with diabetes. It's very early days and I'm seeing the Dr tomorrow so we will see what happens.
Sorry to only pop in, but will be back soon.

LadyThompson · 12/07/2010 18:11

Well, that's a happy bombshell! Yay, congratulations! How is selling your house going? Have the cottages gone through now?

Nolda · 12/07/2010 18:17

Ooo, Congratulations, Katie!

Summer very pleased the move is finally going ahead.

DS would love to join the planespotting club. He is mad about planes, cars (which he calls "nars") and trains, not at all predictable!

Avocadoes · 12/07/2010 18:33

Congratulations Katie! Were you trying or is this a happy accident? I know you have gone back and forth about whether to try.

Beans - glad you got a good night's sleep. And yay for your mum being so helpful.

Trace - keep trying to put those CBT exercises into practise. As I have said before they really helped me. I am sorry Lu is proving a handful at home. But I totally agree with Urbanski that if she is an angel at schhol but madam at home it just shows how secure she is in your love. My mother, who was a psychotherapist, always used to subscribe to this theory. So you see? You are doing a great job.

Lady - I have those flashy new contacts too. The optician insisted my eyes would breath better in them. But I totally agree they feel gritty in my eyes. I will be switching back one I finish the 6 month supply they sold me (bastards).

All this talk about meeting each others toddlers is making me want to hatch a plan. I have the week starting 2 August off work (well I have the whole of August off but I'm away for the rest of it). Can I persuade anyone into another London meet? I am afraid it would have to be London for me because DD1 will be with me too.

katie3677 · 12/07/2010 18:46

It's definitely an accident, but I guess was a bit of an accident waiting to happen. I wasn't too happy when I found out, in fact there were quite a few tears, but I am almost getting used to the idea now.
No house sale yet and only one viewing so far, and we still haven't exchanged on the cottages due to a very lazy and annoying solicitor, but I intend to do some serious arse kicking tomorrow. We do however have plans for the cottages which is very exciting. We are going to be racing against time in a big way now...

Veggiemummy · 12/07/2010 18:54

Crikey Moses Katie, thanks for dropping that in. Wow. I think I'm happy for you, but also nervous for you as you seem, well terrified. I think the diabetes thing will be ok because they'll be all over it from day one, so can manage you through the pregnancy & birth. Congratulations!?

Lady I lurve acuvue moist. I was also offered the true whatsy ones but obstained as I tend to stick with what works, I have tried lots of different contacts and the moist are just so good.

JB if your ever around Manchester go to the airport viewing platform. It's an area on the otherwise of the runway and has two platforms to see all the planes. They also have a concord and a few other planes just hanging around. It's about a £ per person.

EasilyConfusedIndith · 12/07/2010 18:58

Congratulations Katie Completely understand it taking a while to get used to accidents . Hope you get over the fear soon

Trace you take care of yourself, sounds like you are doing a great job.

I find discipline at the 18 month or so stage so difficult. Personally I don't find the step/corner etc much help yet. Dd certainly wouldn't understand it, yet I feel I do need to do something as it seems very unfair to sned ds to his room when he beats his sister up yet just say "no" to dd when she hits him. I tend to physically stop her/remove the toys she is throwing etc and say a firm "no, it hurts/will break them/insert response" an dIu suppose in time and I'm not above ignoring her while she throws her baby tantrum on the floor She's getting quite theatrical! With food throwing then it is one strike and you are out in this house. You don't throw food and she knows it so if she starts chucking dinner about then tough luck, dinner is over.

Mine are plane fans too. Being pretty close to 2 airports we get lots of them, close enough to just hear and spot but far enough away to not bother us. Ds is an expert and dd will also stand there going "plane! plane!". You have to sort of blow a raspberry on the p with lots of slobber to get the full effect

Time to brush teeth for ds. He has just watched the bedtime story on beebies as a treat since dh is rowing and I had to abandon him while I put dd to bed.

Veggiemummy · 12/07/2010 19:03

Stupid touch upgrade software, for some reason I can only type a certain amount before my text disappears. It means I have to post & start again.

Thanks for the commiserations, I have been told NL was a bit dirty, but really I would have no clue as was downing the pints & rambling. Really was a nice night. Unfortunate that the fireworks woke DS2 as apparently there ended up being a big street party by the pub we were at. I so love my crocs heels they are so comfy & easy to cycle in. We have booked the sitter again for Saturday and are going to a big Casino near the beach. Should be great fun.

Oh JB that book title is hilarious!

Hello ladies

First of all HUGE congratulations to Katie and welcome to the more kids than hands club! Woo hoo! What will your age gaps be?

Summer, well done on the exchange. Now put your feet up til the men with boxes come round, OK?

Trace, well done on L's prize. Sounds wonderful. Agree with what Avo said about how secure she must feel at home. I also wonder sometimes with my own Lucy if she uses all her energy being good at schoool and is just too exhausted to do the right thing at home. I don't think it's personal darling.

Veg, so glad you had a good time. Pray, what are heeled crocs? Can you do a link?

I had a lovely time in the park on Friday with LadyT and MOM. Little O is a joy and young S is a very cheeky chappy. Mine disgraced themselves by running around like a loon (M) and needing 3 wees (T) meaning I had to trip off to the other side of the park with her! We ate well, chatted lots and enjoyed the sunshine, tho I did not bring cheerfulness as I was with 2 preggos and didn't want to offend. Next time, tho, definitely.

There is so much more I wanted to say but I must away as I have work to do. I have a deadline tomorrow which I can't make but I need to get motoring so I at least finish in the same week. Back later. Love to you all.

EffiePerine · 12/07/2010 21:25

Train delayed by two hours. Now have wine.

Katie: congratulations! And best of luck with the cottages. You'll have plenty of space to spread out

JamInMyWellies · 12/07/2010 21:50

Hello All.

Bloody nora congratulations Katie

Veggie, Kiwi commiserations on the footie. I was watching while wading my way through a mountain of ironing. My ironing lady is poorly. How very dare she be ill.

Am getting wound up by Mary Portas show on BBC2 where do these numptys come from and why on earth do they apply to be on the show.

Trace my lovely I double triple echo what everyone else said you are doing a marvellous job.

Oh god FFS Danielle Loyd stupid page 3 model has called her son Archie.

Sorry watching the telly and reading showbiz fodder while posting so excuse my random ramblings.

SUMMER hurrah on the house.

AVO if it is during the holidays and it is fairly easy to get to with my 2 screamers then I am up for a mass meet.

LADYT slow down it doesnt matter if the house is finished by the time No2 turns up.

Effie I feel your train pain. Jumper at Marks Tey apparantly DH was stuck for ages.

Beans wow 7hrs all be it interuppted is great. Glad the toof is feeling better.

Rubes hope all goes well with your DB tom.

You all are funny on the flipper feet and tiny ears.

Loads more that I have missed sorry.

Can I ask for a wee bit of advice?

DS1 is drivng me insane and I mean insane I have twice been on the edge of smacking him. He is pushing every button he can to wind me up. He has always been a "spirited" child but on the whole listens to us and responds with the occasional blips. But the last few days he has ran away from me several times. Today while out walking the dog he pegged it off over a bridge and halfway down the next field. I know its fairly safe but he just wont listen atall. He then when I was chatting to someone at the front door went out onto our road (we live in a little private dead end so he is allowed out on to the gravel area. He picked up a stone and lobbed it at me narrowly missing myself and friend. I really dont know what to do. DOes anyone else have 3yr old boys is this what I have to look forward to for the next 10 yrs?

urbanewarrior · 12/07/2010 23:35

Just very quickly Jam as I have a 3 year old boy too who you could describe as spirited....could he be getting ill? DS was a complete little bugger the other weekend and DH and I were tearing our hair out and it turned out he was coming down with something. Just a thought. Although don't know if impending lurgie is consolation for stroppy child...

Night all. DH's new ipad has arrived and he needs lap top to set up. Am but also pleased because he loves it so much.

EffiePerine · 13/07/2010 08:52

Jam: that sounds v familiar (the child - oh and the train too). DS1 has a bad habit of pegging it, but I usually have the p&t so I just strap him in. I'm not a big fan of reins for older children but maybe a wrist strap you could threaten him with if he runs off? Or something else to occupy him like a football? Chucking stones: DS1 has done this ONCE. He got a complete bollocking. At these times I blame a mythical bad child at nursery for being a malign influence .

Rubena · 13/07/2010 08:58

very quick, very pleasant over night db & co visit. Have dropped all back at a/p now. The kids loved ds and he them. Kept him awake all day playing and so he slept 13 hours last night! ds's littlest cousin tries to carry ds around which creates a few worrying moments, and nearly a disaster on the stairs but they are generally very good and help him down the stairs a bit[nervous] Eldest one quite a good helper though. So quiet here and now I'm bored (and tired) somebody visit me! This weather sucks

EffiePerine · 13/07/2010 09:00

Glad it went well Rubes!

Jam: I meant to say threaten him with wearing the wrist strap/reins. Not flogging him with said strap...

JamInMyWellies · 13/07/2010 09:03

Hmm I did the strap him into the buggy and removed his scooter yesterday not one bit of difference. Last wk at 3 foot I put the wrist thing on he went bananas ended up fishwifing at him in the nappy changing tent and he calmed down and did as he was asked.

KiwiPanda · 13/07/2010 11:54

Morning (just) all - and congratulations Katie!

Quick question - anyone happen to know if I can get anything over the counter for conjunctivitis? My darling DD has given it to me as a present along with the general grumps of the last week. Grrrrrrr. She has drops from the doc but I don't - tho don't think it's bad enough to go to doc myself.

Rubena · 13/07/2010 12:10

Congrats Katie!

Kiwi - try this

EasilyConfusedIndith · 13/07/2010 12:21

Ah the joys of 3 year old boys. Ds is very good at not running off, I don't know if that is just him or because for several months when he was around 2 1/2 it was quite simple, if he didn't walk nicely beside the pushchair then he was strapped in it which resulted in pretty much daily epic tantrums and tipped buggies as I struggled to get him in and make him bend in the middle to do the straps up. He can be horrible at the moment though, constantly hitting and pushing dd and can be the same with his friends. I'm not having much luck on sorting that one out and then there are the refusals to do as he is told (tidy up, get dressed etc). It all often ends up in me shouting like a fish wife and him getting sent to his room. I'm hoping he grows out of it before I end up being one of those parents on supernanny.

KiwiPanda · 13/07/2010 12:24

Thanks Rubs that looks perfect!

KiwiPanda · 13/07/2010 12:24

ps I have a meeting with Chanel this afternoon. I am wearing espadrilles which my toe pokes out of and have streaming, red, swollen eyes. I'm going ot impress, aren't i?
