Oh, ABF Not sure what to say but wanted to say something. Maybe she'll feel better once the rest of the results come through? Is the leaky valve likely to correct itself of will baby be poorly once it's born?

Everything crossed for you and your sister that baby is OK and arrives safe and sound.

robinosotherbridesmaid · 30/06/2010 20:09

It's Al by the way, I name changed for the wedding thread.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 01/07/2010 07:55

Not too sure about the heart valve tbh. Fingers crossed it is something minor.
My sister comes on mumsnet and I suggested she start a thread askign if anyone else had been in this situation, but she is a lurker. She rarely posts. It's a shame because I think she could get alot of reassurance.

Elizabeths nap coincides with the nursery run. So I have to wake her up to put her in the pram. She will fall asleep by the time we get there and usually some other mother or kid will poke her till she wakes whilst im busy get Jake settled. Then she falls back asleep on the way back and I have to wake her up again to get her in the flat!

I tried her with some toast this morning, she hasnt got a highchair yet so she sat on her lion mat and ate it. She loved it bless her, but did gag several times and DH got a bit worried!

Dont apologise Sunshine. I think this thread has progressed from being just a baby thread, im sure I speak for everyone here by saying you are more than welcome to post about anything that is happening and effecting you.
Im sorry to hear about your friend, cannot imagine what the family and you are going through.

LaDiDaDi · 01/07/2010 11:44

Will be thinking of your sister ABF. It must be very difficult for her to deal with the uncertainty of it all. Pleased that some things have been ruled out though.

So sorry for your friend Sunshine. I think that having children makes you massively more aware of your own mortality. It must be so hard for her to know that she won't see her children grow up .

On a lighter note what can I do about my breasts? I'm trying to cut down and then stop bf but it's not going well. Last night I had to wake ds up at 11pm as I was in soo much discomfort. Dp comenneted that my boobs looked like they were about to explode. I'm sitting feeding ds now obv. not managing this giving up at all. Help!

Moosy · 01/07/2010 12:12

La, I'm cutting out one feed at a time and giving the boobs about a week to adjust to each one missed. It's going ok so far, I'm down to one afternoon feed and 2 in the night. If you're really uncomfortable you could hand express just enough to feel better without tkaing too much, might be better than feeding ds as he would probs take more than you would express iyswim.

AlCrowley · 01/07/2010 12:34

Totally agree with ABF. I think this thread has moved on a lot from when we were just all pregnant at the same time. I know that when I'm talking to someone in RL about something we've discussed on here - nothing personal of course, just things like Twycross etc - I say "a friend" told me... It saves having to explain about Mumsnet and I suppose I do think of this as a group of friends now. Please post about anything Lee. It must be so hard, especially when you have a child of the same age - if we can help, I think we'd all like to.

Same goes for ABF, Sparkly, Claire, anyone....

LaDiDaDi. I think the advice is to not express/feed if you can manage it but if you really have to relieve the discomfort then just express off the minimum amount to make you comfortable again and leave the rest. If you're only taking a little bit, your body will soon only start making a little bit and so you won't get so engorged and sore.

It's either that or go cold turkey and take pain killers for a few days?

Lee - really sorry to hear about your friend. I bet she was really pleased to see you as well.

LaDiDaDi - everyone else has given you advice so can't think of anything else helpful other than good luck with it! Is your ds taking to the bottle well?

I was at work today and left Imogen with my best friend - it was a bit wierd leaving in the morning and driving there, I kept looking in the review mirror and she wasn't there! Had a nice day though, one more KIT day tomorrow but dh has day off so I can go to pub after work with everyone which will be nice.

I quite like the ZingZillas - but then I don't have to wear anything with them on

Why won't they give you a new uniform?

Good luck for everyone at work tomorrow. Hope your days are short and easy.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 02/07/2010 07:07

Apparantly there is a stop on ordering new uniforms for everybody now. The might be designing a new one or completely merging us with mothercare and making us have their uniforms Either that or getting rid of us all completely!

LaDiDaDi · 02/07/2010 11:50

Thanks all, pleased that my boobs are getting all of this virtual support! Didn't feel nearly so sore last night but sitting here bf ds again just because we both wanted too. Feeling very and about it all. Was crying this morning as I was scared that ds had had his last bf. Crying again now!
Think that I'm going to try to give hm ff atfer each solid meal, so it's part of his food iyswim and then bf him between times if we want to. Will give ff at bedtime but bf when he wakes in the early hours. I feel like that way if he stays overnight at gps then it will be manageable for both of us. What do you all think?

Got to dash, sorry about ZZ top ABF. Could be worse surely, at least it's not a costume!

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 02/07/2010 16:05

Sunshine, so sorry to hear about your friend. How sad. I never really know what to say in this type of situation, but i am sure it will be a comfort to her to have her friends around her.

OMG Ferret, your comment about your t-shirt made me LOL. Hope your day at work is ok and that the ZZ top is not too shame-worthy!

LaDiDaDi, hope that the cutting down is going a bit better. when they do get full it knacks doesn't it?!

All ok here, although have got a bloody cold and sore throat (again) and sound like scooby doo! Just praying that anna does not go down with it this weekend, as it is the long awaited baby free weekend. AAARRGGHHH! Am getting quite nervous about it, just hope that she will be happy at my mum's house and that she settles ok. she is generally no bother at all, but it would be just our luck for her to go down with a cold and be a real handful for my mum-she is having to go there for two nights, Sat and Sun. The wedding is on Sunday, but i have to be there at 11ish as am a sort-of bridesmaid, so will need to set off at 8.30ish and my mum's is a good 50 mins away so just not practical to drop her off that morning. Fingers crossed!

Am having my hair put up for it by my hairdresser neighbour, and am wearing a saree for the wedding so am very excited! just hoping i don't blow my resolve at the wedding and get absolutely wrecked!

hendo77 · 02/07/2010 19:45

LaDiDaDi - I hope you're feeling less sad this afternoon. It's taken about 4 weeks to get to the stage now where I am only bf in the night (not even before bed or first thing in the morning) and we have just gone with the flow a little bit. For example last Sunday we only bf as she refused bottle all day, but so far this week has preferred the bottle. Every time I bf I wonder if it's my last time too and get a bit but I'm focusing on the positives which are that I can do things without her for more than 3 hours at a time! I have had two good days at work (just KIT days, not going back just yet) which has made me feel better about my return. I think I've also realised that she loves me for me and not just my boobs!

Good news for us last night on the sleeping front - she slept from 830 until 2 then quick feed until 6 am, very quick feed and put her back down and she got up about 730 so that was good. Fingers crossed start of a new sleeping era!

Sparkly how is the eye infection? Imogen has also got one and has eye drops for it which she doesn't seem to mind, we also thought it was a scratch, but remembered your post and thought we'd check so thank you. Hope your ds is getting better quick and not causing you too much havoc with his moving everywhere!

Ethelred - hope you have a lovely weekend, would be lovely to see a picture of you with your hair and outfit!

ABF - talking of pictures....

sparklycheerymummy · 02/07/2010 21:38

hi hendo..... his eye cleared up within 2 days ....still not sure if it was conjunctivitis or a sratch....he hasnt pooed any more chocolate wrappers but has pooed a lot.....doc said there may be a back log of poo stuck in him! his ear is still annoying him but the penicillin seems to have worked i think. HOWEVER....his new found energy has found him pulling himself up on furniture to standing so i just cant leave him at all......his crawling is sooooo quick now too.

BOY IS IT HARD WORK.

Gave him salmon, broccoli, peas, potato and white sauce for tea and he looooovvveeed it (it was what we were having so i just mashed it with a fork and he munched it down. still no teeth though!

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 02/07/2010 22:30

Just a quick message to say, you'll recall anna also had the conjunctivitis type thingy a week or so ago. Don't know if it's the same as your LO's had, but doctor told me it wasn't conjuntivitis, more a general gunkyness that you sometimes get with a bad cold. His advice was to bathe her eyes with cooled boiled water with a pich of salt in it. Might not be the same things at all as your babies are suffering with, but just thought i'd mention it. xxx

hendo77 · 02/07/2010 22:41

Thanks Ethelred and Sparkly! Glad to hear both of them have eyes that are better now. GP thought it was not conjunctivitis but was an eye infection, we did the bathing with water for a couple of days first but it didn't seem to make much difference (although just tap water and no salt so maybe that's why?). Funny three had it so close together, I did wonder if it was pollen related or if something had got stuck in her eye like a piece of grit and then it had scratched and got slightly infected. Anyway, she's got some eye drops which she doesn't seem bothered about having put in her eyes so hopefully it will also clear up quickly.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

well that was my thought Hendo (that it was a coincidence that three of them had it very recently.)

Saree is all ironed, getting my hair done tomorrow (not been done since Jan!!) am excited about getting dressed up for the first time in ages. Just hoping this cold goes now. If anything, it's getting bloody worse!

Klerka · 03/07/2010 07:25

Morning all,
So much to catch up on and mention individually but I hope you're all well.

We had a lovely couple of days away. The weather was wonderful, Holly slept really well too. We had fish and chips on the sea front, lots of walking and a generally lovely time.

All well here too. It's our wedding anniversary today so DH has the day off and we're going to spend a nice quiet day together.

Heard from the daycare centre yesterday and Holly has a place for two days from September. I am really glad that she got in there as it's a brilliant place - at one point I thought we wouldn't get in until January, however it makes it seem much more real now and I can't imagine leaving her... got to start telling myself it's ages away... I also heard from my boss who wants to see me next week with regard to an administrative role he wants me to fill... maybe everything will come together and is meant to be.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 04/07/2010 08:15

Sunshine did you enjoy Eclipse??
Went to see it last night with my sister and my niece, we were all extremely sad and bought the drink and popcorn combo so we could have the free keyrings, bizarrely my sister and I (the 2 adults!) had the jailbait Jacob keyrings. My niece chose the Edward one. It was fun, kept embarrassing my niece by laughing at bits that werent supposed to be funny though!
Also for all the pedants out there had much fun when leaving, because on the sign next to the door to the room it was shown in it said "The Twilight Saga's" My sister and I had good fun wondering what the twilight saga could be...
