Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
TheBrideOfBlatherstein · 28/10/2010 13:29

Oh bollocks. Now Catherine has a temperature and vomiting too [hsad]

HerGHOULPoirot · 28/10/2010 21:42

Hi Ethelred!

Blathers, hope Catherine recovers soon... doesn't sound like a fun time at the moment for you.

EthelredTheUndead · 28/10/2010 22:23

Hi all. Hope you are all ok. Blathers, hope C is feeling better soon. Anna has been really sick all down herself tonight, twice, but was fine in herself and no temp, so think (as always) that it is teeth related. i can see them right under the gum, but they're just not quite there yet. Hope all the poorly people are feeling better soon!

we are going visiting again this weekend. we are off to see my family for a good catch up, so looking forward to that. Just hope the weather is ok. scarborough in the rain is not that much fun!

Oh and bracing myself for the Take That ticket scramble tomorrow am. Fingers crossed! [hgrin]

Hi all, haven't read but will in a sec. Lacey is walking now, we are up to 7 steps in a row now, lol. She gets very excited! She's such a sweetheart.

Hope everyone is well :)

LaDiDevilDiDie · 31/10/2010 10:07

Hello all, I'm now fully recovered from a horrible d+v bug that completely felled both dp and me and then got mil too Sad.

HYave carved a pumpkin and made some choc fudge but I'm very distrusting of the recipe and suspect that any Trick or Treaters will prefer the Haribo lol. Dd wants to go out tonight, will probably take her to a few houses either side of us in the street.

Nice to see you Scorps, great to hear about Lacey, hope that you are doing ok. I guess that this must feel like a difficult time coming up as it must be getting on for a year since your h and you split. Thinking of you Smile.

TheBrideOfBlatherstein · 31/10/2010 11:01

Not only did I get a lie in this morning but I also came down to find that Alex (with some help from DH I suspect) had made me "Strictly O Dancing" entirely from Duplo [hgrin]

Not sure where the "O" came from but he was insistent. It was well worth being dragged downstairs for. I've put a picture on my profile.

HerGHOULPoirot · 31/10/2010 11:22

Blathers - I love the Strictly set made from Duplo!!! Glad to hear that you had a lie in too.

Scorps - wow, walking, I am very impressed! Hope you are well too.

LaDi - glad you are recovered now, I'm sure your choc fudge will be lovely!

I'm very boring and usually give trick or treaters satsumas and bubbles. This year though we're going to put a note on the door saying no trick or treaters as baby in bed, but only going to put it on the door from when we go up for bathtime. Some years we get quite a few groups of children from our road and some years none so not sure what will happen this year!

Imogen is now completely recovered from her dodgy tummy, has stuffed her face for England and now is constipated! We have fed her as many prunes as possible with every meal but she is flatly refusing water (I think because she had no milk for days and now she won't touch water). We've tried diluted apple juice, some hipp juice you dilute, fruit tea, cold water, warm water, water from a bottle, from a beaker, from a spoon. We've had warm baths, massaged tummy, stuffed her with fruit rather than savoury but nothing seems to be working. I think I'm going to have to ring doctor tomorrow as she is crying with pain and also waking in the night with it poor thing. In between she is absolutely fine though and I hadn't realised how subdued and unlike herself she had become with her tummy bug until she got better!

Ethelred and Lee hope your little ones are both better now...

Sorry - I've written loads...

TheBrideOfBlatherstein · 31/10/2010 19:55

More pics...I've finally finished the pumpkin! Long after the trick or treaters finished but hey. Alex will love it in the morning - he requested the design [hgrin]

HerGHOULPoirot · 31/10/2010 19:59

Wow I am impressed! So intricate - we did them a few years ago when in the US visiting friends and it took us hours to do basic (pretty rubbish!) faces....

TheBrideOfBlatherstein · 31/10/2010 20:03

Yeah, I used a scalpel for the fiddly bits. Only took about an hour though. I love halloween [hgrin]

Thanks Lee - can you get it over the counter do you know? I spoke to the out of hours doctor today and we are just trying anything to get water down her but the only thing that seems to work is dioralyte but the doctor said that was fine and we are watering it down a bit. No idea why that is OK, but nothing else! So far she's had a little bit, but still in pain poor thing.

Hope Andrew feels better soon, Imogen has had a rattling chest and bit of a cough as we've been giving CalCough on the recommendation of the pharmacist (esp since dh read one of the possible side effects was a mild laxative effect!)

We have an INSET day tomorrow so I've only got two days of teaching this week to ease me in!

Wow Blathers, you are so creative! The pumpkin is great but I also noticed all of your cakes too!

We only had two trick or treaters. Dd visited the neighbours and that was it, dd did look cute in her witches costume but unfortunately I can;t get the make-up that I used on her face to come off!

Good Luck for Tue Lee and hope Andrew is feeling better.

sparklycheerymummy · 31/10/2010 22:45

i got into trouble off someone once with a similar name.....i changed mine and my friends on here went mad so i changed it back LOL

Hope everyone is ok.... sticky eyes and snotty nose here and occasional cough.....we have a humidifier in his bedroom and any sign of a cough and we whack it on....WORKS FAB!!! only about £25 FROM ARGOS!

ds is walking too and started about a month ago.... has had his first outside walk and kept cheering himself all the time! He can also well and truly climb stairs and sofas so i cant even hide things at the back of the sofa from him! Whilst its sweet he is doing stuff I wish he would slow down.....he is my last and i want him to stay a baby a bit longer!

Has anyone thought about the 1yr plus baby milks....wasnt going to bother but keep seeing that advert with the massive sippy cup of cows milk and wondering if I should!?? He how pretty much feeds himself finger foods and sandwiches but I still feel like i should be giving him stuff too! its hard for him to eat shepherds pie LOL though he does try!!!!

SERIOUSLY THE HUMIDIFIER HAS SAVED US FROM HORRID COUGHING FITS IN THE NIGHT

TheBrideOfBlatherstein · 01/11/2010 16:29

I think that advert is misleading. Yes, they'd have to drink 20 litres of cows milk to get their daily recommended allowance of iron - but only if milk was their only source as it's quite a bad one.

If you're giving other iron-rich foods such as red meat or green, leafy veg then most, if not all of their iron needs will be coming from those instead and the enriched milk is not needed.

I won't be giving it to Catherine. Didn't bother with Alex either and he's super healthy. These AB's he's on are only his 2nd lot in almost 4 years! He's hardly ever ill.

Had a lovely day in London today. Both children were really well behaved while we were traveling, meeting Oliver and reading the story. Apparently the video will be used as promotion on Amazon when it's finished!! Shock

BANGerskite · 01/11/2010 16:31

New Bonfire nickname too Grin

HerGHOULPoirot · 01/11/2010 19:48

You are addicted to name changing blathers!!!! However it has reminded me to change my name back...

Lee, hope all goes well for you tomorrow and you don't find it too hard leaving Andrew. Let us know how it goes.

Hi Sparkly!!! I am impressed with all this walking, but not wishing away Imogen being containable to an extent still I have to say!

I feel like we've gone a bit backwards with the eating - during the tummy bug that went on for ages she really went off her food and would only eat well pureed food spooned for her really. Does everyone else's babies eat lots of sandwiches and stuff? If anyone wants to post a typical day's food I'd appreciate it as I'm suddenly feeling a bit out of my depth as to what I'm supposed to be doing... and now feel a bit silly that I don't know what I'm doing!

Good Luck for tomorrow, Lee.

Hercules, ds has today had

Breakfast - a handful of Weetabix bitesize softened a little bit in some milk, chopped dried apricots and blueberries.

Lunch - a boiled egg, some cooked sliced chicken, some bits of bread, cherry tomatoes, a plum and some of my white choc pudding thingy.

Snack - half a sweet mince pie lol!

Tea - a fish finger, some plain pasta, broccoli, carrots and parsnips. A banana and some melon with a taste of my cherry yoghurt.

I let ds finger feed anything unless it is properly runny like yoghurt.

He has also had a few bfs.

I wonder if I should be giving more snacks to try to help him sleep through?

BANGerskite · 02/11/2010 09:44

Hope you have a good day today Lee.

Catherine is more of a puree baby too. I try giving her finger foods but she tends to suck on them, drop them on the floor and then yell for puree!!

I keep giving them to her though as it aids their muscle development and therefore speech when they learn to chew. Plus, I don't want to have to puree up everything for her for too much longer.
