Good shout ABF - Imogen definitely likes banging things!!!

Get a set of stacking cups. We got some when Alex was small and he's never really grown out of them. Catherine's too small to stack yet but she loves banging them together and making noise.

You can build with them- then knock them down, nest them, hide stuff under them, bang them together, take them in the bath for water games, take them to the beach for mini sandcastles - and generally, they're really cheap too :)

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 16/09/2010 21:52

Hi all,

Much better couple of days here. Think she's settling into nursery and cold has nearly gone...hoorah!

No talking here although lots of noises; just none of them recognisable! the pulling herslef up though, has suddenly mutated into pushing one of those walker things for a couple of steps, which is quite exciting!

back at swimming tomorrow and tumble tots in the aft, so that should be good. Just hope it's not tanking down as DH has the car...fingers crossed!

Stacking cups are a big hit here too...not for stacking but for banging together! she was using an empty SMA tin as a drum with a wooden spoon tonight so that was good too (if not a little loud!! :o )

Have got clothes for Anna until she is about 2 years old! :o Blush Our neighbour has three under 3 Shock and was having a clear out and brought two big bags of gorgeous clothes round for us, plus have picked up a few lovely things at some nearly new sales and then bought sales stuff too to put away. I hardly spend anything but have picked up some lovely stuff for her. She has more clothes than me and DH put together.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 17/09/2010 09:56

Ethel I thought I had plenty of clothes for Elizabeth but she is currently in age 12 to 18 months clothes with no hope of her shrinking! Grin
Tried a coat on Jake in TK Maxx and he needed an age 5 one, he isnt 4 yet!

I dont get it, neither DH or I are overly large! Confused

You can get some stacking cups rom ASDA for a £1 they are good nice and chunky.
Going to get some from ELC though because they stack nice and tall, plus we have brought out a version that has holes in them so when you stack them you can put a ball into the top one and it will roll down to the bottom.

AlCrowley · 17/09/2010 10:52

12-18 months!! Catherine is just getting into her 6-9 month stuff!!

I'll have to go shopping soon. SIL gave me a load of nieces hand-me-downs but SIL is of the opinion that little girls should wear only dresses so that's pretty much all there is and, from what I've been told, dresses are a nightmare for crawling in. I don't want to make it any harder for poor old Catherine to learn to get around on her own! So I need to go and buy a load of leggings and tops so we can save the pretty dresses for going out.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 17/09/2010 11:12

Leggings and tops are great for crawling. There's no stopping Elizabeth now.

AlCrowley · 17/09/2010 11:17

Catherine is so nearly there. She pulls herself around on her hands and gets up on her knees, she's just not quite ready to crawl yet...

Don't want to foil her attempts with frilly dresses

AmazingBouncingFerret · 17/09/2010 16:25

Just got back from town. Elizabeth is all kitted out, lots of nice leggings and tops in colours that arnt actually pink! Shock Bought a great snowsuit from TK Maxx, all purples, blue and burgundy.
I struggled to find things for Elizabeth but Jakes half of the money got spent easily!

Find any bargains ABF? Might try to get out next week. I love Pumpkin Patch now I have a girl but it's not cheap.

It's Al by the way. Someone mistook me for a satanist again so I decided to name change.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 17/09/2010 16:46

We dont have a pumpkin patch here, I got moast of her stuff from Next. Absolutely jeff all in mothercare.
Got a great coat for Jake from debenhams for £16! Bright blue padded one with a furry edged hood.

Blatherskite · 17/09/2010 16:52

I got Catherine a nice coat from Tesco the other day. Really cosy and with a hood too. Now need to find dark pink gloves/hat/fleece trousers to match!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 17/09/2010 17:01

moast? moast? I have no idea why I spelt it that way!

Blatherskite · 17/09/2010 17:05

I knew what you meant Wink

AmazingBouncingFerret · 17/09/2010 17:10

They had dark pink hats and gloves in Next chunky knitted ones with ear flaps.

hendo77 · 17/09/2010 19:37

Back from shopping - we already had the stacking cups (I think ABF you might have suggested them before?) so today we bought this and this. She seemed to like them in the shop, but when we got home she was a bit scared of the elephant popping balls out of the top, although was getting used to it a little in the end!!!! I also bought three books and spent too much money on clothes for her yesterday. In my defence though, my brother went to australia for a couple of years last year and left me all his saved up change which added up to £103 and said I could spend it on Imogen so that's what I've done.

I have found it hard trying to find non-pink clothes. I don't mind a bit of pink, but seriously, it was a bit of a mission this time around and I ended up buying quite a few bits of boys stuff in the end. Same in the ELC - why have every toy in 'normal' colours and then also in pink?!? Would definitely agree with leggings and tops - that is what Imogen lives in and if she does ever wear a dress she for going out it slows her down quite a lot!

I think her 6th tooth is about to break through - dodgy nappies and a bit of nappy rash today and yesterday! I hope it doesn't disrupt her sleep again.

OP posts:
Blatherskite · 17/09/2010 20:43

I'm a bit scared of that elephant!!

Catherine has one of these that we got back out of the loft and one of these that I won on here as her big toys at the moment.

We did have one of these down too but that went up in the loft when the dinosaur came down as it's just too much otherwise.

Catherine has definitely been having dodgy nappies, has rotten nappy rash and has been funny with food recently but we're still waiting for that first blinking tooth!!

Going shopping tomorrow aftermy run. Hopefully will be able to find some nice things

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 17/09/2010 20:47

Six teeth Hendo! Anna only has two!?! And ABF, did you say Elizabeth's in 12-18 months?!! Anna is on 98th centile for her height and 9-12 trousers are still far too long....she must just have an unfeasibly long body (Anna that is!!) ha ha ha!

DH's cousin's had twin boys today, both nearly 7lbs each! Feeling giddy about it! Just waiting for niece or nephew to make an appearance now.

Hope you are all ok and have enjoyed your shopping! xxx

LaDiDaDi · 17/09/2010 20:52

Lots of shopping going on on this thread! I got ds a red cord dungaree outfit from Next today and then two long sleeved t-shirts from M&S. I'm going to get dp to get the roll around dinosaur down from our loft, dd loved it.

Is anyone else finding nappy changes a complete nightmare atm? Ds used to hapily lie playing with a toy but not any more, he's desperate to be off despite being covered in poo.

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 17/09/2010 21:12

yes LaDi, Anna will not lie still for love nor money. Total nightmare.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 17/09/2010 21:35

Just dug out the red book. Elizabeth weighs 20lb 3oz, 75th percentile. So she's not overly large. Confused
No idea what her height is though. 9 to 12 month trousers arnt too short but not too long. They are just too tight lol.

Cant wait to dress them both in their new togs tomorrow!

Elizabeth still has no teeth. No sure signs of any either.

Blatherskite · 17/09/2010 21:49

Getting Catherine weighed on Monday. At 8 months she was 13lbs something though and under 2nd percentile. I doubt she'll have caught up with Elizabeth in 4 weeks :)

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 17/09/2010 21:50

Isn't it funny how they are all so alike in many ways, yet so totally different. i still find it all amazing. Can't believe we are getting to the 9 months plus stage now. where has this year gone?!

Blatherskite · 17/09/2010 21:53

Catherine is 9 months old today (and Alex exactly 3.5 as he was born on the 17th too) it's all gone so quick!

Blatherskite · 18/09/2010 12:08

She slept till 5am!!!

She then screamed till 6.30am but she slept till 5am. That's 10 hours sleep!!!

Rubbish naps so far today to make up for it though Sad

LaDiDaDi · 18/09/2010 12:17

Ds slept until 3.45 then woke a couple of times until 7.30. Dd is clearly exhausted from a full week at school and I finally woke her up at 9am but she was still really groggy and sleepy!
We've had a walk to Sainsbury and then I suggested we go on to the park but she said no. She's also been eating loads, this morning she had two scrambled eggs and ate most of two pieces of toast and had some pineapple! I had a bowl of Special K.

This afternoon hopefully we are going down to the Quayside at Newcastle as there is stuff on for the Great North Run tomorrow, hoping to see Zingzillas.
