Oh Red your poor DS no suggestions I'm afraid, unless you have the old paracetamol suppositories () over there, otherwise just give him some more and hope he keeps some of it down. Or do you have ibruprofen? Finges crossed he conks out soon and feels better in the morning. Hope you are feeling better too matey in anticipation of your Flos Nightingale shift

RedLentil · 05/07/2010 00:18

Ah thanks for the suggestions. He has dropped off again after some cuddles and a head rub. I think I'll hop in with him, just to keep my mind at ease.

He's quite alert and isn't too dehydrated so I'm hoping it will pass overnight now. He's cutting his new teeth so I expect it's easier for him to catch bugs at the moment.

longwayfromhome · 05/07/2010 00:22

suppositories? If you have somewhere close to buy them?

Or drive him round in the car til he sleeps

longwayfromhome · 05/07/2010 02:01

oh crossed posts. Lots of thoughts for you tonight

springaporesling · 05/07/2010 03:44

Red hope DS feeling better and that you both managed to get some sleep. Hopefully he will be able to keep something down in the morning can you get some probiotics once he's feeling a bit better?

Oops sounds a little like DS new phrases over the weekend - 'Mummy itchy' (he has 2 new mossie bites) and 'Mummy cream on' (for said mosquito bites). He has also learnt to say 'Mummy tank you my dinner' which he is now employing when he wants to get down from the table - i.e. this morning half way through his weetabix!

DS has been climbing since about 9 months and still hasn't learnt that he might fall although he does say 'fall down bang head' whenever I tell him not to climb - obviously working that one then! He can now support his own weight on his arms as yesterday I caught him hanging from the bannister like he was on a monkey bar (we have 3 steps down from the dining area to the lounge area - that I can't put a stair gate on). I thought taking him to a 'tumble tots' type class might be good for him as he has so much energy is quite the gymnast but think I am regretting it already and we've only been twice...

Miamla my Dh almost opposite then his accent changes depending on who he is with. When he is back with his Mum and family up north (and yes very north as they're from Cumbria) he lapses back into northern accent but he lived in Wales from the age of 12 up to university and went to a bilingual school so when he's with his school friends his accent can be quite welsh. I don't think I really have an accent (at least that's what people tell me) despite the fact that Mum is a Brummie and Dad's from Leeds!

luckoftheirish · 05/07/2010 07:17

Morning,

Red really hope ds slept for you and feels better this am.. i hate when they are poorly ... hope you are feeling better too..

crispy/hots sounds like you both had a fantastic weekend away ..

cyteen glad that ds was ok and you got lots of productive work done in your allotment..

dizzy, me to hates children like your dd1's friend.. dd1 has a friend in nursery who is very similar and also her cousins are a tad like that... just grateful that dd1 is quite timid and lets these things roll over her!!

mrs m loving the bunting ..

DD2 is also talking a little more with "i don't know", " i have a box/spoon/bowl etc" " in the box" you get the message .. tho my favourite word from her is "mammee", good old irish pet name i called my mum..

beyond tired today as the little tike didn't nap again yesterday and work up at 9/11/1/3 before awake properly for the day at 5.. almost like a newborn again!!!

RedLentil · 05/07/2010 08:23

He slept much better after a foot rub thanks, and he's a lot brighter this morning.

Now he's seven at least he can tell me calmly what is wrong and what is making him feel better.

Being bigger puts paid to the suppositories idea though, I think. They do seem to be popular here though I've never used them on my lot.

I'll definitely buy some probiotic stuff for him this morning, Spring.

Thanks again for keeping me company when things suddenly got complicated last night.

hotterpotter · 05/07/2010 09:35

Am so glad that DS is feeling a bit better red

Loti sorry you are still feeling so rough Has H followed through with his wish to do anything to make it better after being such a twat? I hope so but it doesn't sound like it

springa next time you come home you will have to meet us instead of hiding in the Dales without internet access and we'll check out your accent

DC miraculously slept till nearly 8 this morning and don't think I moved either once I was in bed. Nice to be able to boil the kettle in less than 20 minutes but I miss the sight of the sea and the DC playing far away in the playground

QueenofDreams · 05/07/2010 09:58

Hi everyone.
Red, hope ds is feeling better now.
cece S also adds a onto his words. So we have poo-a, tea-a, shoe-a.

Really ought to be heading out.
Also need to call bank today as they are getting arsey

springaporesling · 05/07/2010 09:58

Red glad to hear DS feeling a bit better.

Loti I do hope that DD2 is having a growth spurt/teething/having a development spurt/slight illness or something rather than dropping her nap for both your sakes. I have been told that children here often keep their naps for longer due to the heat - am sincerely hoping that is the case with DS!

Hots well next time we come we definitely won't be in the Dales as that was a one off for DB's wedding so will have to be Midlands meet up. That said I really want to be pg soon so no idea when our next trip back will be.

luckoftheirish · 05/07/2010 10:41

Thanks spring. I think she was very over tired last night and couldn't resettle herself iykwim. Hoping she will nap today!!

Thanks hits have to phone docs in an hour and hopefully get results and find out what's going on.

Re h things worse than ever as hebplayed cricket both days at the weekend and left me poorly looking after the girls.

Not moaning about it anymore as moaning won't solve it. We booked a holiday to Spain months ago and we go on wed. My dad coming also for a few days and dd1 so excited that I cannot cancel. So that will be interesting. One of his mates is out there same time as us so no doubt he will manage to fit in a few rounds of golf.

CrispyTheCrisp · 05/07/2010 17:09

Glad RedBoy is improved, GRRRRR for MrLOTI and hugs for money woes for QoD

Afternoon all . Good start to the day. Deteriorated since. DD2 currently yelling at me and DD1 requiring to be fed . New car needs a new tyre (don't ask ) and DH won't go and sort it before he disappears off for a week tomorrow.

hots am thinking to go and pitch the tent in the garden and hide from the lot of them

QueenofDreams · 05/07/2010 17:36

I think I'll go join Hots in the tent and hide from the world (head in sand, head in sand) Humph.

cyteen · 05/07/2010 17:47

LOL at all the mini-Mark E Smiths

spring you're always welcome at a Midlands meet up if we ever manage to organise another one.

TwilightSurfer · 05/07/2010 18:59

Lucky so what's the news????

TwilightSurfer · 05/07/2010 19:12

Sazzles Can I suggest we send our dd1s off to live on their own grumpy island???

I've just explained to my first born that the mean glares and sassy remarks only attract bad things (like fairies) that only make her even more unhappy. If she'd smile, speak nicely and be kind then good things would be attracted to her thus causing her to happy all the time.

TwilightSurfer · 05/07/2010 19:13

Failing miserably to use the Moby as a back pack carrier. Suggestions??

hotterpotter · 05/07/2010 20:02

TS get a mei tai! I carried DS and DD (at separate times!) in mine on Saturday, one up and one down the 199 steps to Whitby Abbey and they are true porkers

CrispyTheCrisp · 05/07/2010 21:51

Evening

DH redeemed himself slightly by ordering me a tyre for tomorrow and putting the DD's to bed whilst I was at pilates. Travel insurance sorted and meeting point for me to meet up with DH in France next week also agreed.

TS are fairies bad?

hots I carried DD2 up the tower of Lulworth Castle on Sat and ended up with a frozen quad muscle. Ouch

hotterpotter · 05/07/2010 22:05

You off to France again???? Lucky bugger I have never been to Lulworth Castle but spent two fabbish summer holidays at the campsite down the road from there at Durdle Door.

CrispyTheCrisp · 05/07/2010 22:08

LOL yes, you'd think we would learn eh? This is our annual summer trip to the Loire. Not sure if Brangelina will be there as they were last year

You'll have to go for a revisit to Durdle Door Hots and we'll meet you there

hotterpotter · 05/07/2010 22:13

I think I would be too scared to walk down the cliff path to the beach these days

Oh DD went to proper school today , just for a taster session in anticipation of starting reception in September. my baby is growing up so fast! Think she enjoyed it but she wouldn't really say. She still won't talk to grown ups she doesn't know and is pretty reticent with ones she does know so hope she gets on OK.

hotterpotter · 05/07/2010 22:43

Where is everyone tonight???

CrispyTheCrisp · 05/07/2010 22:49

Here Miss . But off to bed soon....

TwilightSurfer · 05/07/2010 23:08

Bad fairies are BAD. Then good fairies are good. Was grasping a straws and keeping temper in check.

HP going to check that one out.
