Thought the title might be appropriate for both mums and babies

Arf at all us preg-hags, hanging on any possibility of a snuffly new baby

Took DS swimming this morning, then designated the pm 'Messy Afternoon'. Lots of fun, but I am knackered. And he fell off the kitchen stepladder again [facepalm]

I thought we were ok after Fri, we seemed to have turned a corner, am I silly for wanting to believe that she is genuinely ill. TS I would look for someone new however nobody offers the flexibility she does - will see if she arrives on Fri or not.

Buckets, will be stepping down from playgroup as L goes up to nursery and that is covered by the School Parent Council so will remain on that - I do very little to be honest Good news about your CM possibilities - fingers crossed she is more reliable than mine!!

Slingapore - hope you're feeling better and LOTI hope DD2 improving.

DH has arrived safe and sound in Belfast to be spoiled rotten by Irish Mammy. DD1 is at friends and will arrive home after Rainbows - her leaving party tonight so huge excitement at the promotion to Brownie status after summer . Everything I'm baking has gone horribly wrong but business cards have at least arrived so I'll be able to sell shit baking and let people know who made it [meep]

TwilightSurfer · 22/06/2010 18:12

Hello again.

I let dd1 go to tennis today even though she was a bit flushed still. I confirmed hers (and dd2's) diagnosis (after comparing doctors chicken scratch to multiple web medical terms). They've had Fifth Disease (aka Slap Cheek...or something like that). Strange illness it is. Appears like a cold. Once your antibody's kick in you flush or get a rash on checks, upper arms and upper legs. The rash/flush is the badge earned from having killed the invading virus. So it's a good thing. Although it looks not so good. You are contagious while you have the cold symptoms and it's spread by body fluids such as sneezes. There can be complications but most kids have no trouble whatsoever with this virus. Mine possibly sneezed the week before they flushed...not even sure of that. So there's one we can't see coming or protect others from really.

Pediatric medical lesson over.

Dizzy I truly feel for you child care wise. I'm in the same boat kinda. It is very difficult to find and then keep someone. ((((hug))))

Singapore mark my words. Didn't Queenie have a cold then ta dah...a BFP? A friend of mine here is 10 weeks now. She felt run down with a slight cold a few weeks ago then tested...a BFP appeared.

Where is our Queen btw?

CaptainCaveman · 22/06/2010 20:02

TS you should turn private detective . I agree though, Queenie is MIA , hope her hyperemesis calmed down

miamla never too late to go back to hockey! I took a ten year break in between leaving school and starting up again. I'd never played on astroturf before I started my second hockey 'career' (lol), and i was shockingly bad to start with. Am a little bit better now

VG yay for bike! I picked O up from nursery this evening on my bike and he 'cycled' home with me. Wore his helmet good as gold and was kicking his little legs about all the way home. He's also a darn sight lighter than ds1!

dizz boo to childcare, hope she turns up on fri

hi everyone

dizzydixies · 22/06/2010 21:05

oh ffs its going from bad to worse, everything is shit, DD1 only just in bed, friend who PROMISED me all my boxes would be back today phoned to say that he didn't have a car so we had to go and get them AND another friend turned up to tell me that she is pregnant and going for her scan on Thurs I'm pleased for her but its just the fucking icing on today's cake

Have done the traybakes, I don't trust myself to do any more baking at the minute so have put my tea on and am going to start doing the price/ingredient lists etc

sorry to bleat on

cyteen · 22/06/2010 21:06

Thanks TS, you have reminded me to post on Queenie's FB page...was thinking about her today. I really hope she's feeling better.

Skipped out of zumba class tonight as I am soooo exhausted. Although apparently my NCT friends did too, lol. I can see the start of the terrible twos parenting making its mark on all our faces which probably means it's time to organise another cocktail evening chez moi

dizzydixies · 22/06/2010 21:13

cyteen - what gorgeous eyes J has, I always was a sucker for a blonde

MrsMiamla · 22/06/2010 21:14

dizz can i help with doing lay out of price/ingredient lists?

dizzydixies · 22/06/2010 21:25

Thanks Miamla, they're all done, just to be printed x

MrsMiamla · 22/06/2010 21:32

ok, well if ever you need help on something that i can actually help with from here...shout...LOUDLY

sorry, going to post and run. absolutely shattered, DS still awake (mum let him have a v late nap again so my money's on him being awake after me!) and got a reasonably busy day tomorrow

love you all my sweet cherry pies x

hotterpotter · 22/06/2010 21:40

Did someone mention cocktails??? One for me too please

Dizzy sorry to hear today not going to plan. Just get a good night's sleep and tomorrow will be a baking dream. Will send floury vibes your way my dear

I am channelling my inner domestic goddess, bought a bargainous dress form Asda today (£8 ) but it has a stupid handkerchief hemlime so am attempting to pin it straight before getting scissors and sewing machine out

CaptainCaveman · 22/06/2010 21:55

Well well well, have a look here. Apparently, dh and I will be 136.50 better off....not sure if that's per month or per year. I think the latter is more likely!!

OOOh, get you hotpot coming over all arty farty . Am only coz I'm so utterly uncreative or artistic. Good luck with your hacking and sewing!

Have a big meeting tomorrow whereby I try to convince a large part of our workforce that our strategic plans are fab , and it will be truly magnificent for them. The truth is it WILL be much better, just the big scary C word

dizzydixies · 22/06/2010 21:59

feck, I haven't even had a moment to look at the budget either

thanks guys

MrsMiamla · 22/06/2010 22:13

DS was crying so i went in to investigate... he was standing by his door (stair gate in doorway), clutching a few of his teddies and his blanket. I think i've convinced him that it would be better to leave home in the morning!

GladioliBuckets · 22/06/2010 22:40

Literary ladies, I need your help please. Just got back from a rival choir performance with BF and we were inspired to have a couple of atmpospheric readings to break up the singing - concert is called 'A summer's evening in July' and is in an old church in the middle of the city. Choir will be in blue with hints of gold and silver to represent a starry sky. My 1st idea is a particularly filthy passage from Tess of the Durbervilles about Tess walking through a hot sticky garden with fecund plants swiping and wiping themselves at her. Ideas please.

TwilightSurfer · 22/06/2010 23:33

Buckets This "choir" is it unrelated to the "church". Only asking because I tend to mesh the two together. Intertwining spoken bits sounds lovely. The Tess quote is a good choice. Maybe a little Chaucer or even some crazy TS Eliot might transition choir pieces. Quite honestly it depends on what you're singing. Suddenly I feel nerdy.

GladioliBuckets · 23/06/2010 08:09

Yes Streetcar came to me in the night too, hot nights in the city there. Will try and find something specific to Southampton too.
The choir is not churchy and the one we saw last night was singing loads of pagan tree stuff in a church LOL, all dead posh Winchester laaaaaydiiiieeees. Most of our songs are in different languages so nobody would know if we were singing satanist charms anyway.

TS i have heard of a number of people with slapped cheek. As you say it is very infections, but before the rash. Luckily not too severe symptoms IIRC

hots hurrah for bargain dress, but make sure you adjust it asap or it will be buried in a pile. Well it would be here

cece you will be fab with your speech delivery and convince them to Cheer on Change

I am currently watching the footie, and have to say it is rather good. Well, apart from the girls trying to strangle each other

BBQ numbers 42, Sainsbo's order to be delivered at 9am and weather looking up (apart from some thunderstorms . Keep your fingers x'd please Ladies

springaporesling · 23/06/2010 16:03

Fingers crossed crispy! Also watcing footie s we had to pay 45 quid for it and the other 2 matches were on at 2.30am!

Good luck Dizz

TS DS has had slapped cheek or Fifth Disease as it is also known it being the fifth most common childhood disease. Just need to be careful around pregnant women.

TwilightSurfer · 23/06/2010 17:17

House tip but checkbook out of balance trumps the cleanup. Running back out to move money. Some days I question why I use two separate banks. Keeps me honest, really. When it's difficult to move money you tend to only do it out of necessity instead of on a whim.

Personal Financial Tip for the Day.

Mercy it's HOT here. The temp on the INDOOR tennis courts was 88*. Reese & I remained IN the clubhouse.

Crisper I knew you'd be okay numberwise. Folks are DRAWN to YOU.

Singapore you are correct! Nice medical knowledge!! We are all so smart on here!!!!!

runs out the door
