New thread for us to chat about our little jekyll & hydes...

Danny is currently stood next to me rearranging my DVD collection - I will be doing a work out to charlie & lola tonight apparently, while DS1 will be watching Billy Blanks Taebo with his pre-bedtime cup of milk and DH's history docu is hiding out with Diego in the city of lost toys...

silvery!well done..thats great news..i know its not perfect but its a start in the right direction. Round of applause.
Dinky- i put ds1 and two in the same room when ds2 was a year..or maybe just before. It was hellish the first night trying to get them both down. i really thought i'd done the wrong thing but after 15 mins of crying it was fine.
We currently have 3 bedrooms in our flat but we're turned one into a playroom for all the kidsjunk toys.
I just get the two boys ready for bed at the same time.i always make sure everything is laid out first as looking for stuff when the two are bare bummed is a nightmare. Just put them down together and they will get used to it. i even catch ds1 singing to ds2 to get him to sleep..its so cute. Sometimes i'll walk by their door and i can hear them giggling about half an hour after lights out.
I remember doing that with my sister and its a nice memory. Our new house only has two bedrooms so im glad i done it.
i have no news today..im really boring..oh but i did lose 4lbs at ww. yay me!

swampster · 07/10/2010 16:11

All three of ours share. One bedtime = one lot of stories for everyone, they take turns to choose (even DS3!)

DH used to take DS1 and DS2 up while I nursed DS3 but as soon as he knew how he was pointing up the stairs and demanding to go too. And as soon as he could crawl he crawled right after them.

He'd go to sleep in my bed with me then but when we moved house (just after he turned one), my niece was over soon after so we had a bed set up for her in the big boys' room. The minute she'd left he was in it. He still comes running in to me in the wee hours though and we still have a bedside cot in our room.

In the morning the big ones wait until they hear him then come and spring him from our bed and they all slope off to make Duplo dinosaurs and dens and things. And scrap and hit each other.

dinkystinky · 07/10/2010 16:33

Ah, that so sweet Clarabumps and Swampster Grin

Just need to get Danny past the screaming at bedtime and wakingup umpteen times a night and 5am starts and can look forward to that...

dinky Re sharing a room, both boys are bathed or showered at about 6:30pm, then I dress Luke, dp dresses Jacob, then we sit and have some milk and read a book.
Luke goes to bed at about 7pm and then jacob goes at 7:30 ish.
They rarely wake each other when one of them wakes screaming, but it's something I think they get used to and have to learn.

Today went well at work. Was in yet another classroom but was good.
The head of the early years department told me today that there are 3 vacancies in early years and she'd like me to fill one of them. i would be employed directly by the school so would be on a salary, paid holidays (half term) and the school will support and aid any training I want to do.
She asked me to fill in an application form, which I did and when I asked her if my application was unsuccessful, would I carry on withy agency, or would I be out the door? She said i really don't need to worry about that and that she would get the application pushed through quickly.
How good is that?!
I think it'd be do-able if I could drive so will start lessons asap.
My friends have said they will do anything they can in terms of childcare until i can afford something official.

Calico1 · 07/10/2010 21:16

SM that sounds perfect! Good for you and good luck with learning to drive too.

Dinky we tried both DCs in one room but Lilian is such a bad sleeper and DS such a light sleeper that it didn't work for us - hence Lilian sleeps in a travel cot as her proper wooden cot is still in DS's room (too big to fit anywhere else)......I think we should have stuck it out a bit more, as SM says they eventually get used to it. Lilian always screams herself to sleep and rarely gets to bed before 8.30pm whereas DS just says 'night night' at 7.30 and is sound asleep within a minute! DS does ask if Lilian can sleep in his room - he'd love to share a giggle after lights out but Lilian always has other ideas.

Quick question - do your little ones all still have an afternoon nap? I can't remember when DS dropped his, I think around 2 years. Lilian still sleeps for about 2 hours in the afternoon and often I have to wake her up as it is getting late - I'm sure this is why she is still wide awake most of the evening.....perhaps I should only let her sleep for an hour?

dinkystinky · 08/10/2010 09:19

Well done SM - that's brilliant news! I'm so proud of you Grin

Calico - yes, Danny is a screamer/yeller so the first couple of nights of trying to get him and DS1 (who is normally a pretty good sleeper) to share immediately after we moved were a catastrophe. Will try again come November when Danny is used to the flat, teething has settled (have invested in a woo teething necklace off the internet - dont have great hopes for it as am sure Danny will destroy it and eat the pieces within minutes, but figured it was worth a go) and his horrid foreskin infection is sorted - oh and work has calmed down abit.

Danny still has an afternoon nap - he needs it with his early starts to the day. DS1 was still having regular afternoon naps until well past the age of 4 and didnt effect his sleeping. Perhaps cut L's back to around an hour and a half and make sure it doesnt last longer than 2.30 if you really do think its impacting on night time sleep?

Just popping on to say congrats SM Grin so pleased for you!

SilveryMoon · 08/10/2010 19:07

Thank you ladies Grin
I think I may have embarassed myself in front of the head teacher though today. She was the P.E. teacher, I didn't even know who she was although I did think it odd that the P.E teacher was wearing suit trousers and heels Blush, anyway, she watched me get slapped in the face 3 times in 15 minutes and still not get this kid to sit on the bench properly, so when he walked off, I rolled my eyes to her and mumbled what a terror he was! whoops

Luke still naps. On average about 2 hours a day. Normally from about 1pm, but I have been told that he now just lays on the floor when he is tired.
Jacob dropped his nap just after he was 2.6yrs but will still havethe odd nap on a weekend.

dinkystinky · 09/10/2010 07:22

Am away for weekend in a pub with Wifi so sneaking on the net quickly. SM - dont worry about embarrassing yourself infront of the head. I assume that she knows about how difficult that particular child can be to deal with anyway!

OP posts:
SilveryMoon · 09/10/2010 08:48

dinky Have a good weekend. I'd love to go away to a pub for a whole weekend Wink Grin

We have a birthday party to go to today. Am looking forward to spending this weekend with the kids, have missed them.

dinkystinky · 11/10/2010 09:17

Thanks SM. Pub was lovely, restaurant was lovely, weather was lovely - Danny and DS1 were monsters though and had me at the point of putting them up for adoption on Saturday afternoon. Fortunately they were back to being their usual selves yesterday so have been granted a reprieve AND Danny was in with DS1 last night and went to sleep after 10 minutes and slept through till 6.30 today. Hurrah Grin

Hope everyone else had a lovely weekend in the sunshine.

OP posts:
SummerRain · 11/10/2010 11:45

Sunshine? Confused what sunshine.... fecking gale force winds and freezing rain here... and we had frost this morning Sad

I just had to use street view to find addresses of houses i used to live in for my garda clearance form as i couldn't remember half of them Blush

littlesez · 11/10/2010 17:38

I am dying! again! and again self inflicted. I went to audition which was a whole weekend, izzy coped and I coped she was a little annoyed with me at first but after about 5 mins realised she wanted boob and we were back to normal.

I dont stand a chance of getting on team UK I can only just about flick and the rest of them were somersaulting and twisting! as if. I killed myself trying and i do not think have ever ached this bad in my entire life booo hoo bring out the violins for littlesez. im glad i went was fab experience

izzy still has at least one hour nap think she will continue that for a good while. i hope Grin

SM its all working out nicely for you yay, im so glad.

loving the cute sibling room sharing stories almost makes me want another Shock just spent a week with my niece too as she came on our family hols to give my bro and sil a bit of time with new baby boy.

rob said he wants more children now, i would do it now if i could skip the newborn/baby stage now thats just weird!

Calico1 · 11/10/2010 20:48

Littlesez - ouch!! No idea what a flick is but it sounds painful (and impossible) to me. Glad Izzy was ok and not too cross with you not being there this weekend.

Thanks for all your comments about afternoon naps - seems that Lilian is about normal then....just rubbish at sleeping at night. I did cut her nap down on Sat - I woke her up after an hour and she was so angry about it I wish I hadn't.

SR sorry you're not enjoying the Indian summer Grin
T-shirt weather here the last couple of days - lovely.

littlesez · 12/10/2010 07:50

calico, I pretty much never wake isobella up i just can't do it im a softie Grin I would just leave her but whats going on at night? might be able to help izzy didnt settle into good sleeping til 18 months.

round off flick somersault is here just random one from you tube

here is my roundoff flick on my facebook

www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=1184372564022

are you my friend on there? Im pretty sure i had all fab febber on at one point but I am rubbish at remembering who everyone is and may have deleted people i didnt recognise after a stalking incident!

dinkystinky · 12/10/2010 10:05

Littlesez - its the trying out that counts Wink Sounds like you had a great time - if a rather painful time - at the trails.

Calico - Danny suffers toddler rage if woken from a nap early too. I find Peppa Pig is a good distraction and lots of cuddles.

SR - that weather sounds shocking! Whats this about a garda application? Are you hoping to become a garda?

Danny woke several times last night which I think is teething related. Put on his new teething necklace today - I give it until lunchtime and he'll probably have taken it off and flushed it down the toilet. Grin He's a lot more inquisitive about everything than DS1 was - and as a result he can do lots more than DS1 could at this age (including opening sealed packets and juice cartons Shock).

New thread needed soon - feel free to nominate new thread titles. My nomination (in honour of Halloween) is "Fab Feb 2010: things that go bump and "mummy, mummy, MUMMY!" in the night!" - but maybe that's just in the dinky household...

SweetTalkinWoman · 12/10/2010 16:40

How are you Ladies? Sorry haven't been on in ages - my life at the moment seems to revolve around autism! Great news today though - DD has got into a specialist nursery starting after Christmas, and I'm on my first autism workshop tonight. 2 1/2 hours of it Shock.

Haven't caught up with what's going on - everyone ok?

SilveryMoon · 12/10/2010 21:19

Hi STW That is good about O and the nursery Smile
How did the workshop go?

dinky Hope D sleeps better tonight. Luke is the same re the interest in everything. He is alot braver than Jacob was (or even is now), he is interested in anything that moves (proper boy) and his favourite is opening and closing doors!
I have no suggestions for the new thread titles, but your one sounds good (as always!)

littlesez You were stalked on fb? oh dear. i will have to check if you've removed me. Thinking about it now, I haven't seen anything on there from you in a few days......

dinkystinky · 13/10/2010 08:55

Hi STW - brilliant news about O and her new nursery! Am so pleased for you and her. Fingers crossed the workshop was informative and helpful.

Silverymoon - yep, Danny is a little doorman too Grin We discovered a really worrying little hard lump under his skin near his shoulder last night - am sending him to the GP with his nanny this morning to get it checked out. Its not squishy like a cyst so a bit concerned but there's not much we can do until we find out what it is.

London based Fab Febbers - anyone up for a free trip to a puppet show on Sunday (is on at 3pm at the Tricycle)? Have 2 spare tickets to see "the 3 bears" at the Tricycle theatre which will otherwise go to waste (tricycle theatre is in Kilburn -and handily just at the end of my road so can even tempt you with coffee and cake chez Dinky's new pad) so if anyone is up for it, just post on here or drop me a text if you have my mobile no. Sure we'll be able to get more tickets if other halves/other kids want to come along.

OP posts:
SummerRain · 13/10/2010 10:18

dinky... lord no! Garda vetting form is the same are CRB check over there. We need to be cleared for the playschool (am on the committee so technically working with children) ad my form from last year seems to have vanished into the black hole that is garda HQ Grin I do have a lot of previous addresses so maybe they're still wading through my eary ears but am going to try sending in another form in case it's just lost.

littlesez... ouch. that's all i've got, ouch Shock I think you've deleted me as i don't see you on my FB atm but tbh i barely use FB anyway so it's hardly worth your while re adding me!

STW... great news about te nursery Grin know what you mean about your life revolving around autism atm... in this house it's dyspraxis, dyspraxia, dyspraxia.

The school nurse is getting the doctor to look over ds1's file and hopefully he'll be referred for assessment with OT. A has finished his first block of SALT and is babbling so much more lately, tonnes of new sounds. It's funny, ith the older tow i never really noticed tha babbling and sounds as they talked so early and easily... with A i'm getting excited when he makes an N noise or blows on his food! the weird thing is i think he knows how to use language just fine as a lot of his 'noises' sound a lot like garbled wrd and short sentances but he just doesn't quite grasp how to make the right shape with his mouth to form the sounds he wants. We had a breakthrough yesterday though when i was out with the kids down the fields showing them the badger set. One of our cats is called Dude and had come along with us, A was up in my arms and spotted Dude pouncing on a leafe and pointed at him and said 'Ay Dude, [something else I couldn't make out]' Grin 'Dude' was slurred but as he was pointing right at him it was unmistakably what he wanted to say.

Slightly Hmm that his first official word was Dude though Grin

I brought him to gymnastics with dd last night as ds1 was home sick and it left dp free to get the house cleaned while we were gone. Normally he stays up with me and doesn't venture far but unfortunately his new found confidance suraced and he spent the full hour and a half trying to run over and jump on dd, roll around on the mats in front of the children trying to do somersaults and cartwheels and generally making a nuisance of himself. He even wandered over to one of the instructors and did his sad face at her and she let himwalk the beam... I couldn't get over the fact that he let her hold him the whole way along and back and was really pleased with himself.

SummerRain · 13/10/2010 10:20

Clarabumps · 14/10/2010 09:24

good morning everyone!
dinky howd it go at the doctors?
its been a very long october break this week..seems to have dragged in, still, its thursday so im on the home stretch!AND...Sandy starts the tots group on monday so i get two whole hours to myself 4 mornings a week!cannot wait..i have a list as long as my arm with what im going to do with this two hours.
i love dude as a first word..sandy's first word was hello...totally dull cdeompared to dude.
whats everyone up to today..off to make my porrige..its a day for it.im freezing!

Calico1 · 14/10/2010 09:48

Dinky - what's the news from the doc about Danny? Hope it is nothing to worry about. x

SR - love A's first word! Lilians was quack Hmm

Littlesez - don't think we are FB friends but to be honest I hardly look at it or post anything - not stalked, just lazy!

I think Lilian's night wakings are teething related as her canines are coming through. Wouldn't be so bad but DS has started waking up at 5am wanting to come into our bed where he chatters and fidgets until it is time to get up. He is getting a new room soon (once I have cleared the junk out) so hopefully that might discourage him from wanting to get up in the wee hours.

Clara - it's porridge weather isn't it. I had some this morning with loads of brown sugar on it - yum!

Right - I am supposed to be writing a report this morning and so far I have spent 1/2 an hour on Ebay and 20 mins on mumsnet.....must get on with it

dinkystinky · 14/10/2010 10:04

Loving dude as a first word SR!

Thanks for asking about Danny guys - Dr claims its a cyst which am abit Hmm at as is really quite hard mass under his skin. Will be getting my ex GP dad to give a second opinion when I see him next. Have been told to monitor it and go back if it gets any bigger.
