New thread for us to chat about our little jekyll & hydes...

Danny is currently stood next to me rearranging my DVD collection - I will be doing a work out to charlie & lola tonight apparently, while DS1 will be watching Billy Blanks Taebo with his pre-bedtime cup of milk and DH's history docu is hiding out with Diego in the city of lost toys...

I have just 'forgotten' to eat a pancake, 2 slices of granary toast with butter and honey and a cup of coffee. Mmmmm.

May I just share what my toddler has managed to do this morning?

He emptied out DH's pant drawer, but a pair of boxers over his head and refused to take them off. He managed to dig out an ancient box of condoms (left over from after he was born when I was terrified of getting pregnant again so soon!) and flung them around the bedroom. He tipped a whole bottle of bubble mix over his toybox and emptied a box of tissues trying to wipe his own nose.

He is currently standing on his toy bus tring to reach the fish tank. I should probably stop him shouldn't I....

Clarabumps · 26/09/2010 11:05

i know she prob didnt mean it..id just love to forget to eat..it seems to be the only thing i seem to take pleasure in. since becoming a sahm i've tried to morph into nigella in the kitchen and i seem to be taking her shape aswell.(i love nigellas figure i may add but she has a lovely slim face and mine resembles a beach ball at present)

Markstretch..u've just put me in the mood for toast and honey now..im on my second cup of coffee..still in my jammies with dp lying on couch,ds1 playing with his cars and ds2 back in bed as he was doing his godzilla impression and wrecking ds1's train track.

I went to my sister in laws last night to get my nails done, two bottles of wine later. ended up having a facebook snoop at all her exes..feeling tender today.

Thanks for all the good ww stories..i need to get a grip before it starts really affecting me. i am already starting to feel self consious with no clothes on..feel i look pregnantShock. so i need to stop moaning and do something..zumba tonight for me..away to samba my big booty away!!

rosieposey · 26/09/2010 12:15

Well its nice to see some old faces on here Grin i thought i would say hello!

Ive read back 4 pages and its nice to see everybody is ok. Milo is still in his cot, still takes a bottle first thing and last and hes still not saying much Grin so im glad there are a few people on here with DC's doing much the same (i was getting a bit worried about the speech thing) but i think they all do their own thing in their own time.

The girls keep calling Milo 'the baby' still and i have to remind myself that he really isnt anymore, he looks, has tantrums and acts like a toddler but he will always be my baby i think (just like my 18 yo).

Dinky sorry to hear you are injured, really hope this is feeling better for you soon - i rolled my ankle 3 weeks ago and its still swollen and hurst to walk on - i thought when i first did it i had broken it!

Clara,Mos,Summerrain,Markstretch,Silverymoon,Questionkid, littlesez,Bumpsnowjustplump hello to you all :) Great to see you - sorry, sorry, sorry if i forgot to say hello to anyone.

Might have some tenious good news here, after haunting the conception threads for 9 months i had a few lines on some tests yesterday (i always pee on two or three at a time as i dont trust evap lines ect) and this morning. Im due AF in three days so its early but i found out this early with DS so im really hoping its a sticky one, Ive had enough faint positives to convince me that i am pg but will just have to wait and see.

Anyone else apart from Pempe going the way of madness? I havent checked in in quite a while so im not up with the latest news?

Hope everybody is having a great day (MS after reading this thread you've given me a chutney and pancake craving now!)

SilveryMoon · 26/09/2010 12:28

rosie Goodluck, got my fingers crossed for you Grin

Just trying to catch up with the housework and my massive pile of ironing.
Lunch break now though Wink

rosieposey · 26/09/2010 12:33

Im supposed to be cooking lunch but im too busy lazyarsed mumsnetting.

mumoverseas · 26/09/2010 13:52

hello all, sorry you dropped of my threads I'm on and I've been too lazy to find you before/busy in RL

Welcome clara and welcome back rosie and congrats by the looks of it Grin

dinky hope your shoulder is a bit better by now

SM fingers crossed re job and sorting out childcare and of course that DP is off the hook ref driving 'incident'.

swampy was shocked when I thought you'd lost 10 stone, thought there was hope for me yet Wink
dinky the theory ref 3 (or more) keeping you from eating/being fat is rubbish. I have 4 DC and am huge! Finally got off my arse and signed up last night for a new 12 week exercise/diet program that is being run here. Bullied a friend into it and we actually enjoyed it and are hoping it keeps us motivated. There were about 25 of us there and all in the same boat (ie not the normal skinny cows in lycra that go to classes here) Watch this space.....

DD2 is loving 'big' school. H had his second day at nursery today (was closed on Wednesday for Saudi National day) and he sobbed his little heart out when I left him. Felt a bit guilty but had a lot to get on with as lots of paperwork to sort out and trying to get sorted for DD's 4th birthday party on Friday. Have around 25 kids coming and need to sort out party bags and party games.

Arse, just realised grand prix is on and I've missed half of it. Catch up later x

dinkystinky · 26/09/2010 14:01

Afternoon al. Markstretch - Frank's exploits sound v like Danny's. In fact substitute fishtank with phone and add in walking into a door and F could be Danny this morning...
Have just spent 20 minutes battling Danny down for his lunchtime nap - he is being v clingy and suffering badly from separation anxiety - only with me - again. Ho hum.

Clarabumps - if I was a SAHM I'd have put on lots more weight I suspect. WW is great for delicious recipes with 1/4 the fat Nigella uses in hers. In fact, I adapt her express recipes using tricks learnt via WW - still totally delicious but not quite so fattening.

Rosie - will keep my fingers crossed for you. Saw a thread from MsLucy a few weeks back saying she'd had a positive test after an early loss so you may have a fellow Fab Feb nutcase with a bun in the oven. DH and I have a daily discussion as to whether no 3 is a reality - the answer varies daily and depends on how much DS1 and Danny have been driving us crazy. Grin

Being driven mad by people from gumtree and freecycle - last item I have left to sell is my double bed and as wasnt shifting at the original price I posted I've dropped price by £30 to sell it by this weekend and specifically said no offers and buyer to collect. All I've had today is people offering less or saying they'd buy it if I deliver. Have politely declined all of them (the bed is 10 years old and from Ikea so I reckon I've got enough use out of it and not that bothered about selling to make the cash). And the numpties on freecycle just cant read - posted 3 days ago that a microwave I was disposing of was taken and am averaging 2 responses an hour offering to take it off my hands. Argh.

Hi MoS - xposted. Maybe my theory only works when you have a small age gap between all 3 kids - bet if you had a 5th child you'd look like Kate Moss now Wink I love doing exercise (my best form of stress relief) - and having met me you know I'm not a skinny minnie - and I really think that if you find an exercise regime you enjoy and make it part of your life you'll feel tonnes better for it, and be tonnes healthier and happier for it. And it may help weight loss or just help toning so you look alot smaller than you actually are sizewise. I know I've put on weight over the past couple of weeks through stress eating and not exercising (not being able to do any due to my shoulder is driving me insane) so will be back on WW and gentle non-weightbearing exercise from tomorrow for the sake of my sanity... Glad DD2 is loving big school and am sure H will get into nursery in time.

Bumped into a friend this morning at our local farmers market (is a casual friend from my antenatal yoga I did when pregnant with Danny who is another city lawyer and who I occasionally meet for lunch - once every 4 or 5 months or so) who told me that she'd just lost a baby at 21 weeks - last time we met up (about 4 months ago) she was talking about trying for no 2 but I didnt even know she was pregnant and had no idea what to say other than I was so sorry and she should take care of herself. Now kicking myself as feel I should have been more eloquent and said more - but not really sure what more I could say. Think I might text her to apologise and suggest lunch soon if she wants to catch up when she's back in the city - or do you think that might be abit gauche?

OP posts:
mumoverseas · 26/09/2010 14:32

hi dinky, I think it would be lovely to text your friend and suggest lunch. Don't think you need to apologize though, it was out of the blue and you didn't know so its not suprising you weren't more 'eloquent' but having met you I find that hard to believe.

Think having another baby to test your theory that I will turn into a skinny bitch is a little extreme Wink

Clarabumps · 26/09/2010 18:13

dinky-Think that would be nice to text..although dont think there is much you can say in these situations apart from sorry.

just read some other posts amd so glad to read that the little ones arent talking. DS2 says a few words..well if u could call them that..no,go,hiya, dada, hello..and thats about it. was beginning to get quite worried that he was a wee bit..well..slow.although he has been later in every developmental stage so far. i suppose they're all different but sometimes i think..am i just being really unobservant and there is something up.

as for the theory with 3 kids..the mum in question at the park has twin girls at3 and another girl at 1yo.its probobly a bit of jealousy on my part as well as she seems to sail through the having the three of them. they are always so well behaved and she never looks in the least bit flustered..i was beginning to think she was slipping them valium..hehe..on reflection i think i just need to stop being touchy.(again a symptom of feeling a bit podgy)..still as scarlett says tomorrow is another day..

rosieposey · 27/09/2010 09:24

Hmmm i think i might have jumped the gun a bit. Did another test last night and this morning and both are neg :( soooo i think its proably a chemical - had one of these at the beginning of the year too and exactly the same happened (although not quite so many positives and strong lines) hcg is supposed to be going up and by today i would have expected nice strong lines but nothing, nada. Tis the perils of testing too early but i just cant help myself!

Next month there are going to be no htps in the house!

Today im going to make a gorgeous stew with dumplings and crusty bread, maybe a cheescake for dessert too as i need comfort food.

Its bloody cold here this morning, did the school run and they were all rowing in the back of the car - felt a bit sorry for Milo having that in his ear! Half term isnt that far away either Hmm so the house will be ringing with the sound of annoyed teens. DD2 and DD3 dont get on that well and they are always at it - drives me and DH nuts! We had to put them on different floors because of the arguing but they have always been the same i just hope they get a bit more friendly as they become adults (or maybe im being a bit optimistic!)

dinkystinky · 27/09/2010 10:47

Oh Rosie - I'm sorry. Bin those pesky testers and enjoy that delicious sounding stew and cheesecake and a nice glass of red wine this evening. Hmm, dont envy you those bickering teenage girls - what's the age gap between them? Hopefully they will become more friendly as they get older though - my sister is 3 years younger than me and we used to argue lots as kids, but we're pretty close nowadays.

OP posts:
rosieposey · 27/09/2010 11:02

Phew thats a relief to know dinky, they seem to hate each other at the moment. They are 18, 15 and 13 but the 15 and 13 year old are terrible we literally have to step inbetween them constantly because all they do is fight. The sad thing is that they have always been like this. DD3 (13) is a lazy so and so and DD2 resents it because she wont do anything properly and DD2 is a bit of a perfectionist.

I have binned those pesky testers! No more early testing for me - i will go out and buy one next month on 15dpo - at least it will be accurate.

That stew smells delicious, i might have a small bowl for lunch too because i know Milo will be into having some. (i will save the cheesecake for tonight though).

dinkystinky · 27/09/2010 11:09

Wow - no wonder they fight lots. FWIW, I remember the ages between 13 and 16 being the worst and then suddenly things got better between my sister and me (and improved even more when I went off to uni at 17). Is your eldest off to further education or entering the job market?

DS1 started at school this morning - he was delighted to go into his new classroom and didnt look back once at me, his nanny, Danny or his dad. Not sure if I should feel glad or slightly miffed Hmm Grin

OP posts:
mumoverseas · 27/09/2010 11:40

rosie, sorry about the test. Fingers crossed for next time.
Cheesecake sounds fab and hopefully you can save my life/arse as I was just saying this morning I need to find an (easy) cheesecake receipe.
DD2's birthday party is on Friday and its sort of escalated (as our parties always do) Blush
It appears now we have around 25 kids and 50 adults and I'm doing the desserts. Was going to just make a chocolate cake and a couple of key lime pies (that I am famous for) but need something else and thought of cheesecake (assuming it is A) easy) and B) can get the ingredients here!

dinky glad DS1 started ok. Its funny when they are so happy to go in. DD2 started on 18th Sept and the first few days just ran in without saying goodbye. was almost pleased this morning she had a little bit of CMS (clingly monkey syndrome) and wanted a cuddle and kiss Grin

rosieposey · 27/09/2010 11:41

DD3 is at college. DD2 will be off to college next September so that might help things a little considering they are at the same school.

Ahhh thats so sweet, i remember all my dd's first days at school - i also remember they didnt seem too bothered either. Its a good thing really but it makes you a bit Hmm at the time.

Clarabumps · 27/09/2010 13:14

It is the perfect day for stew.. im making butternut squash risotto for dinner. Currently have the heating on full bung, ds2 is away for a nap and ds1 and i are huddled under an iggle piggle blanket.bloody freezing. Bought a pair of gloves after i dropped louis off at nursery. im going to buy myself a jacket anorak type thing online , anyone have any sugguestions for a padded cosy jacket?
Rosie sorry to hear about the tests. have you been trying for a while? dp and i have decided we'd leave the option of a third untill the boys were at school(another 3 years) but must admit im getting rather broody now ds2 is getting bigger..they dont stay small for long!!

dinkystinky · 27/09/2010 13:38

Clarabumps - there was a thread on MN a few weeks ago about the definitive winter coat - do a search for it. I think North Face was the winner (didnt really follow it as am on a clothes buying embargo - for me that is - until house renovations are done)

MoS - cheesecake supposed to be v easy according to my MIL (who makes a lovely lemon one). You need gingernuts or digestive biscuits for the best results apparently.

OP posts:
mumoverseas · 27/09/2010 14:39

dinky I'm fine with the base, same as for my KLP, just have no idea how to make the top!
Any suggestions anyone?

rosieposey · 27/09/2010 16:03

Yes Clarabumps, have been trying for about 9 months and had a chemical the first month we tried so at least have gotten pregnant, i will test later in future though that way i will never know.

Ive bought a sainburys cheesecake - cant be arsed to make one today, i havent made a homemade one for years tbh - i need a good recipe! If anyone had any good recipes for cheesecake let MOS and i know :)

mumoverseas · 27/09/2010 16:28

Shock cheat! and there was me thinking you were one of our masterbakers! Grin

dinkystinky · 27/09/2010 16:29

The way MIL describes it its just fruit, cream cheese and some lemon but am sure there must be more to it than that! Have you tried posting on the food board MoS?

OP posts:
mumoverseas · 27/09/2010 16:37

that would be too simple dinky Grin. The other areas of MN scare me, lots of loons out there (by the way, did anyone see any of the threads - 5 of them! from a mad woman who is travelling the world in 3 years with her 3 children?) good reading if you are bored

SilveryMoon · 27/09/2010 17:04

mos I saw the thread title, but haven't read. I get bored easily! Blush

rosie Sorry you had a negative today.
I'm an early tester too, it's just too hard to wait isn't it?
Keeping my fingers crossed for you though for next month.

Tomorrow is the big day for Jacob. I've just hung his uniform on the back of the wardrobe and packed hi school bag.

He keeps asking me if he's going to school and looking smart! lol
I hemmed his trousers today, so hoping they are the same length (as each leg not as when I started)

Got dinner on now. We're having sugar seasoned (brown sugar, tarragon, cinnamon and ginger) lamb chops with carrots and baby potatoes, so I am standing over the oven mning and singing along to the carpenters (old before my time me)

Clarabumps · 27/09/2010 17:38

i love the carpenters!!ooh that sounds nice..u need to give me the recipe. Have bailed on the risotto idea. ds2 has screamed ALL afternoon.took the boys a walk to pick up the car from the garage only to be told i have two bald tyres and shouldnt be driving it. so walked back (ds2 still screaming) and decided to pick up a pizza to fling in the oven. Cant be arsed with stock reduction tonight..roll on bedtime.

Silvery, have you packed your tissues?i felt a bit teary at louis starting nursery 3 weeks ago. he just toddled off..not so much as a backwards glance.which is what i wanted but like rosie says you do feel a bit Hmm
MOS that sounds nuts..i can hardly travel on a train for an hour to see my mother with two kids let alone the world..did anyone seethat programme"my family's crazy gap year" where a couple sailed round the world with their two boys bouncing around a catamaran..oofty!my heart was in my mouth..i had to turn it off.
