New thread for us to chat about our little jekyll & hydes...

Danny is currently stood next to me rearranging my DVD collection - I will be doing a work out to charlie & lola tonight apparently, while DS1 will be watching Billy Blanks Taebo with his pre-bedtime cup of milk and DH's history docu is hiding out with Diego in the city of lost toys...

Hey MrsY No party as such, just getting together with the group of people we spend most of our time with. There's my friend I who has a dd 3 months younger than J and a ds 5 weeks older than Luke and then my friend C who has an 8yo dd, a 3yo ds and a 2 yo dd. We all spend loads of time together and the kids have all got a really nice bond (most of the time) and is also quite nice coz us 3 mum's parent in pretty much exactly the same way, so we all look after each other iyswim.
My friend I said we could all go to hers (as is normal) because she has a big garden so the kids can run around or get in the massive paddling pool and we just normally drink!
last week we had 5 glasses of wine each between 1 and 5.
My parents and bro are coming over the day before so he'll get 2 cakes and 2 special days.
At my friends, I've just bought a load of nuggets, smilie faces, snacks and what not for a buffet lunch for the kids.

mslucy · 01/08/2010 14:34

Hello. Been lurking
For a while and wanted to say hi. Had crazy few weeks - found out I was pg a few weeks ok. Still bf and only got periods back in April. Massive shock as it took 2 years to have Stan (with IUI).
Major drama yesterday as started bleeding. Went to A8&E for scan - saw tiny bean and all looked good. But still bleeding - not tons but enough to be scary. DH taken kids to my mother's - a sign that I am desperate! Lying here feeling rough but not in pain. Have heard ghat this is normal but because it's not happened to me before I am terrified.

I am 40 on 13th aug and was planning a huge party. All seems a bit irrelevant now!!!

SilveryMoon · 01/08/2010 14:52

Hi mslucy Congratulations on your news. A friend of mine bled all through her second pregnancy but all was fine. They kept a closer eye on her, but her and baby were both well, no complications or anything, so fingers crossed for you too.
I also bled a little bit with Jacob and after 2 consecutive(sp?) m/c I thought that was it. I kicked all the customers out of my pub, locked up and went straight to A&E and all was ok.

MrsY · 01/08/2010 15:15

Hi! Congratulations mslucy, think you're the first to be back on the ante-natal groups! Take it easy and rest. I'm sure all will be well, bleeding in pg is really common, just keep an eye on things and report any changes to relevent personel!

Make sure you eat a little and get some sleep. Everything looks better on a full tummy and some decent rest. Were they able to give you an EDD? I had to have quite a few early scans, which at the time was scary, but looking back now, it's amazing to watch her progress...

mumoverseas · 01/08/2010 15:40

hello all
MsLucy congratulations to you (and of course Mr Lucy!)
Try not to worry too much about the bleeding. With DD (now 3.10) I bled for the first few months which was very scary as I'd had a m/c before her and then with H I had early bleeding too. Also, I fell pg with H whilst still b/f DD and hadn't even got my periods back which was a huge shock. I was in denial in RL until I was 18 weeks when I couldn't hide it any longer!

Don't let the age thing worry you, I'm 42 now (although feeling 82 at the moment) Fingers crossed for you and your little bean

MrsY BW meet up sounds fab, am itching to get up there and do some serious shopping. Mum's place (it will always be that or nannies' house) is in Hayling Island.

SM sounds like J will have a good party. DD is already planning her party in 2 months. She wants a princess party (no suprise there!) Am trying to get the clubhouse on our compound booked rather than have our house trashed but seems there have been a few 'incidents' over recent weeks and all social events have been cancelled. That will be the home brew no doubt

TulipsInTheSunshine · 01/08/2010 15:54

mslucy, congratulations. Try not to worry, my friend had her daughter in her 40's and had massive bleeds throughout the pregnancy but her daughter was absolutely fine, apparently it's more common in subsequent pregnancies as sometimes the damage done by previous pregnancies can be aggravated by the new pregnancy.

mos... glad to have you back as 'you' sorry you're dealing with poorly babies on your own though... they pick the worst times to get sick don't they?

Well i survived Mental day here yesterday, bouncy castles arrived at 9am and by 9.20 the kids were half drowned (they were jumping on them in the torrential rain in their pjs and dd had her hair in curlers) I only managed to get dressed at 11.45 and we had to be at the church at 12! A screamed like a lunatic the entire way through the ceremony and then we got home and i had to feed all the cristening guests, as soon as they were fed the kids started arriving for ds1's birthday party and the chaos really started! Last child left at 8pm, bouncy castles left at 9pm and kids were up until stupid o clock. dp's sister polished off a bottle of rum single handedly and vomited it all over the living room in the middle of the night and our mate who's ds1's godfather went through a box of beer and spent the day shouting with ds1's best friend's dad who had downed a box of cider. Cider man was ferried to the pub by his wife and our mate stayed here and was up til 3.30 with equally loud drunken SOL.

All went remarkably well though and most importantly the kids had a ball.... i'l think twice before trying to hold two events on the one day again! We've no pictures of the kids in their clothes as A was too hysterical in the church for me to put down and it didn't occur to my dad to take any pictures of them in their outfits... i'll have to dress them up in them again next week just for a photo op

swampster · 01/08/2010 17:35

Oooh! Congratulations, mslucy. DS2 was a surprise after IUI for DS1. DS3 was a total and utter shock! He was my 40th birthday present.

Tulips, your day sounds wild and wonderful. SM, trust you are feeling better today?

SilveryMoon · 01/08/2010 17:40

swampy Not really

swampster · 01/08/2010 17:53
Sad
mslucy · 01/08/2010 18:07

thank you for all your lovely messages.
It means such a lot.
will keep you all posted.
Sorry to read some of you are having a bad time - life can be such a total bitch sometimes.
And then suddenly everything changes and it's all ok again. The sheer randomness of life will never cease to amaze me

mumoverseas · 01/08/2010 18:24

TITS christ, that sounds like one hell of a party!

SM sorry you are still feeling bad. You are lucky you had your mum helping you though. That is the sort of thing my mum would have done. Even if she had to get on a bus and travel the 1 1/2 hours to our house bless her.

Thank god its nearly bath/bedtime here. Am shattered. Twice I nearly got a nap this afternoon (DD1 had DD2 and DS1 had DS2) and twice the sodding phone rang just as head hit pillow

I long for bed every night. Am glad tv is pants tonight as hopefully DC will fall asleep quite early and I can read a bit of my book. I love reading before bed and really miss it. From September when kids at school/nursery I intend to read at least one book every few weeks. Brain is turning to mush which is a worry

Long day tomorrow. Have to drive down to 'mums' to let flooring man in. Hopefully he will turn up on time. Was supposed to be nineish which would have been a real rush but now about midday. Hope not too long as bathroom and kitchen were ripped out on Friday so we are toiletless. Fine for DD2 with her pink potty and DS with his nappies but what about me!

MrsY · 01/08/2010 18:57

Jeepers TITS, that's one hell of a party! Glad it went well - maybe just ration the booze next time!!!

Excellent MOS - let me know when and I'll come and watch you spend some money! And for tomorrow, can you not borrow the potty?!

Feel better SM. xxx

TulipsInTheSunshine · 01/08/2010 19:26

Mrsy - If i'd cut SOL off she would have gone off looking for more and she's just come off a 2 year ban for drink driving so it was safer she was here.... we were just lucky thay MOL herded dp's dad into town early in the day, now he would have caused problems! Our mate gets loud but he's harmless and he's been playing with the kids all day today bless him which is more than i've been able for and i only had two glasses of wine! Unfortunately A was feverish all night and barely slept and ds1 woke up with a tummy bug at 7am so i was dealing with poo all morning so i'm in a worse state than the drinkers. MOL mopped my living room bless her so at least i didn't have to deal with that (although i was just planning on waiting til SOL woke up and handing her the mop [evil])

mos... i know what you mean about brain turning to mush, i used to read 3/4 books a week and since having kids i barely average that every couple of months At least the course work was making me feel a bit less zombie like though.

SilveryMoon · 02/08/2010 06:44

Morning all.
mos and tulips what sort of books do you like to read?
I love reading and still now have to read at least 1 page before I go to sleep.
I don't read anywhere as much as I used to, but still manage a bit.

Feeling much better today which is handy seeing as I'm babysitting again.
I'll have 4 under 4 and an 8yo from 10:30. Hope it doesn't rain so I can just take them across to the park. I was thinking of walking into ashford with them and trailing the charity shops, but my friend's lo's have been known to dash out into the road and I'd need to get across 3 very busy ones so think that may be out!

mumoverseas · 02/08/2010 07:49

morning
SM glad you are feeling a bit better today. Not good that you are babysitting again, you NEVER get to rest. I hope whoever you are babysitting for returns the favour so you get some time to yourself.

I used to read a lot of 'mushy' romantic books but too old for that now. Have read all the John Grisham (legal type) books and Dan Brown and at the moment am reading a really good book called the last templar'. I'm really interested in all that type of stuff. I do have a few counselling/psychology books that I was supposed to read over the summer but haven't found time yet.

Last night was amazing. Kids were driving me mad, got them bathed and read them a story in my bed then thought sod it and put on grays anatomy. About 10 mins later I thought they were quiet and both snoring away in my bed. It was lovely. Managed to watch a few episodes of grays and read two chapters of my book. Of course, 10 mins after I turned the light off H woke up coughing!

Just getting ready for my long drive down to South Coast (around 1 1/2 hours each way) Hope the flooring guy is on time, hate waiting around for people and want to miss the rush hour traffic back.

Have a good day everyone and count me in on any meets ups at BW or in London. Can do pretty much any day but Wed and Fr as G & H in nursery those mornings

SilveryMoon · 02/08/2010 08:02

mos Sounds like we like the same kind of stuff. I used to read alot of John Grisham, but am now a bit bored of it, they're all pretty much the same aren't they?
I really like James Patterson, particularly his Alex Cross series and the Lindsay Boxer books.
I also like Lee Child. He writes about a charachter called Jack Reacher who is a bit of a drifter, he used to be a Military Police Officer and now spends his time travelling around and finding himself in all sorts of trouble. very good.
I also like Dan Brown and will buy the lost Symbol when I finish the book I'm reading now.
As I'm buying lots of my books from library sales and charity shops, I'm quite getting into Virginia Andrews and am reading the Shooting Stars series atm and have recently read Flowers In The Attic and all the sequels to that.

Some nights, I almost don't want to go to bed as I know that will be the minute one of them wakes up.
I was watching Two and a Half Men last night which I think is one of the funniest programs I have ever seen. Great to have Sky now and actually see some episodes I haven't seen a thousand times on freeview.

Good luck for today and the bungalow

mumoverseas · 02/08/2010 08:11

I know what you mean about Grisham, they are a bit samey.
I'm pretty sure we have two copies of the Lost Symbol as both DS and I wanted to read it when it first came out. I'll have a look and if so can send to you.

Right, finally just getting kids sorted. Dropping DS1 off at train station on way as he is doing a weeks work experience in Hove today. On the plus side, at least I won't have to listen to him and DD1 bickering in the bloody car but on the negative, I will have to move a lot of furniture by myself whilst DD1 looks after G & H. Please god don't let it rain today, can't have them inside as its a building site!

SilveryMoon · 02/08/2010 08:13

You be careful of your back moving furniture.

rosieposey · 02/08/2010 08:35

Morning all

MrsY congratulations! Thats great news (and a lovley surprise im sure)

SM hope you are feeling a bit better.

Tulips that sounds like a great party, remind me where to come when for advice for party planning!

MOS you went back to MOS again!? Sounds like you are busy busy busy. You are in the UK atm - where abouts? Fingers crossed about the rain.

No sleep here, Milo is becoming a right PITA at night, without fail he wakes up at about 3/4 am and if we dont take him into our bed he's a nightmare. Probably need to break that habit.
Started a diet as think ttc whilst this heavy is probably not my best bet so wish me luck on that, havent done a diet for a long long time but have a Christmas goal so will do my best.
Right Sainsburys beckons - yuk! I hate shopping.

mslucy · 02/08/2010 10:10

morning everyone.
glad you all survived the weekend in one piece.
Still lying in bed, waiting for the bleeding to stop or get a lot worse.
It does neither - just sort of trickles on.I am finding this very hard to cope with.
On a positive note, I am not in pain and DH has been wonderful. Even my mum (who can be a nightmare) has been kind, although my dad has made it clear that my kids are not welcome in their house for more than one night - they are back at 6 tonight.
I am very bad at doind nothing but some sort of instinct has kicked in to make me try and give the little bean a fighting chance.

TulipsInTheSunshine · 02/08/2010 11:21

huge {{{hugs}}}} mslucy, i'll be thinking of you and keeping my fingers crossed that little bean hangs in there.

Has anyone heard from pempe? I hope her pregnancy is going ok...

SM, I read alot of fantasy books, terry pratchett, some horror/murder mystery stuff and the occasional lighter stuff. I'm not mad about Dan Brown as i read Angels and Demons at the same time as Pope John Paul II died and it was staggering how many 'facts' he used about the procedures following the death of a pope that were completely made up. I'd imagine the 'facts' he uses for his other stories are as inaccurate and that completely ruins the type of story he tells imo.

rosieposey · 02/08/2010 11:36

Bugger, sorry MSlucy NOT MrsY - getting all my MS AND MRS all mixed up - hope the bleeding eases up for you.

Tulips ive seen her on FB but not recently as i havent been on there much myself.

mslucy · 02/08/2010 11:39

just spoken to nurse - bizarrely the same one who did the IUI 2 years ago and effectively created Stan!!!

she told me it was OK to get up and that she knew of cases where women bled all the way until delivery!

SilveryMoon · 02/08/2010 12:01

OMG. I seem to have a threenager on my hands now.
It's not just the tantrums but is now the stroppyness and attitude that goes with them. The outright refusal to do anything and the determination to be as difficult as possible.
aaaarrrggggghhhhhhh

mslucy · 02/08/2010 12:26

three is indeed the world's worst age.
Far worse than 2 - at least you can bundle a two-year-old into a car/buggy.
DS1 was a monster aged 3 - he's quite a joy at 5
