rebeccacad · 27/08/2010 21:05

Yes - let's all hold our precious babies to us tonight when they wake us at stupid o-clock and thank whoever it is we believe in for them and their nighttime cries.

scooby26 · 27/08/2010 21:09

hear hear x

Dalrymps · 27/08/2010 21:11

Hey ladies Smile

Miles tired buy refusing to sleep atm..

Pixie- get well wishes for your dd.

Out of interest what do peoples babies weigh roughly? I have the feeling Miles is one of the smallest, he was 12lb 9 and a half oz at 19 weeks... I'm not that worried, ds1 was the same but am beating myself a little bit with that stick pacific speaks of...

Arcadie · 27/08/2010 21:13

Night Pixie

Rebecca That sucks. Royally sucks. Poor parents and poor you too - you will I guess inevitably and rightly get caught up in the emotion of any birth you're "hired" for. Don't stop caring, it'll be what makes you the amazing doula on the good days.

Dalrymps · 27/08/2010 21:14

Night pixie

Hear hear Rebecca

Arcadie · 27/08/2010 21:14

Dalrymps Don't know what Simeon weighs. Was 12 something at last count...(5 weeks ago) I guess somewhere around 13 or 14.

scooby26 · 27/08/2010 21:15

Dalrymps

DS was weighed this week at 26 weeks and was 17lb 10z. He was last weighed before that at 19 weeks and was then 15lb 9oz. Ive looked back and he weighed 12 9 or thereabouts at about 12 weeks.

Doesnt really matter though if hes well??

Dalrymps · 27/08/2010 21:20

Oh yeah he's well, tbh if I didn't know what he weighed I wouldn't be worried at all so should hang on to that. He feeds plenty, especially through the night lately Hmm

I think I just make petite babies, he's small all over, not big boned, just a little head etc so I guess I'll have to just accept he's a little imp!

Hi IWCAS

Just your video of the great cheese eater - lovely!!

Hope you enjoy your wedding do. I'd love an excuse to dress up and go somewhere nice - although I know I'd complain I had nothing to nice that fits!

We sent DS for a sleepova on Wednesday night. Am I only one who has dared yet? He was only ten doors away at my twins house (she has 3 boys who were desperate that he come to stay so how could i disapoint!!) Very successful as I knew it would be. How quick am I allowed to do it again! Saldy Dh kept me awake with his snoring which wasn't really the point but we did get a nice meal out and an early return home to watch pretty women on tv.

Is anyone going back to work anytime soon? Ive got 6 weeks left til I do. However I have carpal tunnel and may need a quick op to sort it out. Don't think that will be conducive to chasing bad guys round the streets of the north east!

scooby26 · 27/08/2010 21:31

IWCAS - if you are keen to have Ramsay have vegetables do you not fancy combining BLW and pureeing? Then you can ensure he gets a mouthful of what he needs? Just a thought. Im finding pureeing strangley satisfying! My DS has chomped on a few things such as carrot, cucumber, bread, crackers etc really just to keep him amused. Doesn't really ingest that much. He seems to need a lot of food (still only 55% of weight)and I know he wouldn't actually get that much in his tummy if left to him.

I have the most ravenous little man - he has cereal and 8oz bottle for breakfast, 8 oz bottle and vegetables for lunch, smaller bottle after his lunchtime sleep, another 8oz bottle and rice/fruit for tea and now he is having to have a small bottle (4oz)again at 10pm as he was waking up still hungry!!! He must be growing!

Evening everyone,

I was just coming to post something quick, but it seems there's a nice chat going on.

I haven't been here for while because things are not easy over here. My mum is not very well... she had breast cancer a year ago: surgery + radio therapy and she's fine... however it seems that she has something on her uterus :( We are still waiting for some results, but it has been difficult.

Scooby: I'm back to work on Monday! I'm not prepared at all! Thank God I can do my own timetable... otherwise it would be very difficult.

hope you are all well
x

siamesecatwoman · 27/08/2010 21:39

Hey evitas, sorry to hear about your mum, hope it's a false alarm and all is ok.

Iwcas, off to watch this cheese bid, back in a min Smile

scooby26 · 27/08/2010 21:50

IWCAS - got to do what suits you. My DS hasn't refused ANYTHING. He is a GANNIT like his father!!!

Good on you for treating yourself to a nice new outfit.

I know what you mean about wanting a night out - when we had ours we were sorely tempted to stay in and go to bed (to sleep of course! no action there as gone quite off DH for many reasons) but dinner won.

I've got an appointment with consultant on 22 Sep so should know then I think. And you're right - I'm sure I won't be catching any - hope I have a student who I can send to chase them and i'll follow in the car Wink I'm in for two training sessions this week to get me up to date and I start on nightshift on 11 Oct. I do get a phased return over 4 weeks but then thats me. I'm hoping to go part time next year when i've replenished my savings a little!!

evitas sorry about your mam-really hope it's ok. My mum had breast cancer when she was 46 many years ago and I guess it's always a worry xx

Pixie - glad your DD is fine

Dalrymps · 27/08/2010 21:56

Cheese vid is solo sweet! He's doing really well with it too! How many weeks is R now? Miles' hand control is getting better all the time but don't think it's quite there yet, he's 22 wks tomorrow, I think Hmm

scooby26 · 27/08/2010 22:05

Evitas good luck for MOnday - hope it goes ok x

Dalrymps DS cracked the hand eye co-ordination on holiday so about 24 weeks. He also cracked the falling alseep in the sea whilst in his floaty seat!!!! If only I could have sent him at 5.30 avery morning when he woke. It seems his waking in hindsight was hunger- if only i'd known then I would have given him a nighttime bottle again. I thought it was the change of scene. Babies are hard to work out aren't they!!!!

Dalrymps · 27/08/2010 22:12

Scooby- ah I see, he can hold his rattle and shake it and put it to his mouth but still a bit jerky at times iyswim!

Yeah, they're hard work, well working them out is the hard bit... Why they wake, why hey cry, what they want. This is number 2 for me and I'm not much wiser!
