Eben? Impessed? Those clearly aren't real words. Please excuse my useless typing.

FlipFantasia · 18/08/2010 18:18

Very quick visit from me...

bmi I'd love to meet up with you and your DD (love the sitting pix on FB Smile) but we're off to Ireland on Sat until the end of Aug. Let's arrange to meet up in Sept - I can't make the MMMM as we're off to Portugal that weekend.

will be back once I have more time. DS is grizzling and wriggling on my lap as I type.

sunshinesarahandco · 18/08/2010 21:42

hi all, thanks for your mention bmi- i am fine again now, had my bad couple of days followed by a very heavyperiod- explains it all, x

waves to everyone x

hecklephone · 18/08/2010 21:58

Two girls asleep and one DH at the pub with his soon-to-be-married brother. Hurrah!

bmi DD1 has just turned four. She tried on her dress yesterday evening and I saw it for the first time. Obviously I'm biased but she looked just lovely! I'm just really, really hoping she doesn't get stage fright on the day and refuse to walk down the aisle Confused

We had a lovely afternoon tea today at a local hotel - the bride, bridesmaids, mums etc and it was lovely. I left both girls with DH and it was nice to have a few hours without them - I played music REALLY loud in the car on the way there!

News I forgot to impart last time I posted - DD2 has a tooth! It's just popped up in the last week and thankfully seems to have given her very little bother - so I hope the others are the same. However I've never breastfeed a baby with teeth before...we haven't had a nip yet but I've definitely felt the edge of it. If she starts getting frisky I may have to curtail the booby feeds!

Valium how is your 'broken' wrist? Any better yet?

Dizzi I've been thinking a lot about work lately. Not that I'm dying to go back, probably more to do with the fact that I'm noticing our bank balance suffering a bit and in a very selfish, materialistic way, I often wish we just had a bit more spare cash. And now that we have the second child, I have my sights set on a house move eventually, as I would love a bit more space...but that seems unlikely on our current income. Another slight issue - I technically don't have a job, or childcare for DD2! So you can see why I might be turning these thoughts over in my mind already...Confused

Anyway, gotta go...it's a toss up now between watching How to look good naked or possibly finishing the last three chapters of my book...or maybe starting the BLW book...agh so much to do, so little time before DH returns and ruins the peace and quiet! Wink

DizziDoll · 18/08/2010 22:52

Very quick post. We made it to Belgium. It was easier than flying to Munich (where my father lives) a few weeks ago. I wish i had family closer by. Off to bed now.

Slaap wel iedereen

MandaHugNKiss · 19/08/2010 17:12

Good news, dizzi Smile

So, I felt compelled to eat two chocolate trifles (individual sized, not family...that would be excessive). That tells me my period Is Coming. Should be here by saturday, I reckon.

rebeccacad · 19/08/2010 20:32

Evening all!

I've been lurking, but not had much time to post, so it was lovely to bump in to Flip in Ikea and see gorgeous Richard and MrFlip too.

Been super busy here. Sofya now eating 3 times a day. We're doing BLW and she's taken to it like a duck to water. By gawd it's messy though.

We've had some sleeping blips but she's basically back to one waking at the mo which is wonderful.

I've also been busy with my 3 (!) new couples I'm doulaing for. As a trainee I work with a mentor (just supporitng me, not attending births) and charge less. I'm on-call for someone due in a week, have another client due at end of Sept and another due in December. It's a lot of work with all the antenatal meetings and paperwork but I LOVE, love, love it!

Manda I keep finding myself secretly hoping you are having are first March 2nd generation baby - how selfish I am!

Dizzi well done for getting to Belgium

BMI fancy meeting up next week? I'd love to see Isobel sitting up - Sofya's having a go but still v wobbly.

Sarah glad to hear you're feeling a bit cheerier.

heckle - wow to a tooth! S's are just there ready to burst through any minute...

Valium when you find the person who nicked the last half a year - let me know! S is 6 months today and I refuse to believe it. I also refuse to believe I haven't lost 1 pound since Sofya was 10 days old...gulp. I've got about a stone and a half to loose and really need to get on to it now...
Oh, am I being thick - what's a 'dunny fairy'? Good excuse for gin whatever it is!

Pixie I have my fingers (and legs - not ready for another myself) crossed for you.

Rinders hurrah for the new house and Jasmine sounds just gorgeous.

Arcadie - just wanted to say 'hi'!

Flisspaps sorry the notes didn't give you exactly what you want and sorry they contained lies. Apparently the notes 'version of the truth' are often distinctly different from your recollections. If you are still feeling anxious about the birth, you could always ring the birth crisis number - they are super helpful. Let me know if you want more info.

Right, off to do some much neglected tidying and begin to think about what I need to get before our holiday in a couple of weeks.

ValiumtheConqueror · 19/08/2010 20:47

Sorry, that would be dummy fairy Blush

OP posts:
Flisspaps · 19/08/2010 22:03

Bluey DD has a particular like for people's wine/beer glasses, somehow she knows which cup is a soft drink and ignores it Hmm Apparently she's just like her mother Wink

rebecca Thanks for the offer re Birth Crisis. Having had a few days to let the notes sink in though, I feel much better. I think not being able to find anything to say that I did anything wrong helped. Fab news on the doula front, HOW exciting?!

Pixie Still all crossed for you!

Heckle hope all goes well at the wedding. :) at the tooth.

Anyway ladies...we are off on holiday tomorrow to sunny Wales with the inlaws, I may be able to pop on for some sanity restoration chat in the week as the pub down the road has wifi Grin Should probably start packing soon...

Arcadie · 19/08/2010 22:19

Hi rebeccacad!

Sorry - lurky but no posty again. Reasons: Summer holls = DS1 around at lunch so less computer time. Simeon STEADFASTLY refusing to sleep longer than 45 mins at any point. I've determined he's not hungry so I'm not just feeding him back to sleep again. Cue a LOT of screaming and a very very stressed Arcadie. It's been pretty ugly round here for a few days now. DH poorly again (post snip complications AGAIN) and hence I'm doing all gets ups and sleeps and food. But bless him he ordered me out of the house today at lunch whilst DD and Simeon slept so I could take DS1 out for a bike ridea and not listen to any controlled crying (doesn't sound very controlled to me). result? MUCh happier Arcadie and Simeon slept for 1 1/2 hours. I still think he needs closer to 2 or even the 2 1/2 he USED to do but it's a start!

Oh and weaning here too. But puree-ing it all the way. Carrot today. Orange poo tomorrow.

scooby26 · 19/08/2010 22:48

Hi all. Back from sunny Rhodes in need of a holiday! MIL broke arm badly and didn't make it out for week two with DS'S food and milk. Had to put DS on Greek food and milk which appeared to give a bad tummy and grumps ensuing in 5.35am wakes. It ruined my holiday sadly. I know it ungrateful but I sooooo need sleep. Still, madly DS can WALK- at least he can holding my fingers. I can't believe it! He is sooo proud of himself. For those that wish to be bored there is a video on facebook. He can't roll or crawl but loves being up and eats anything I put in front of him- he thoroughly enjoys his food-like his father.

Had a quick read back. Hopeful vibes to those mad enough to ttc. Welcome back to pacific

MandaHugNKiss · 19/08/2010 22:58

How silly of me! I thought valium was simply channelling her inner Aussie and the Dunny Fairy was something connected to potty training and/or elimination communication!

Turns out she has no inner Aussie at all. Just a slight misplacement of her right index finger. Smile

Well, it's yet to be seen rebecca but the scoffing of chocolate foodstuffs (as opposed to actual chocolate) normally heralds the arrival of my period. No spotting as yet though, so...

Rindercella · 20/08/2010 11:25

Scooby, just to say I've seen your video on FB. Tis truly mad and seriously impressive! Sorry you had such a rubbish holiday though.

rebeccacad · 20/08/2010 20:18

I thought the Aussie thing too and was thinking it was rather early for potty training DD2!!

Just had an update from my cousin on her little boy. He's doing really well on the chemo and is being so brave. He's also managed to raise nearly 11 thousand aussie dollars for a kids cancer charity so far - what an amazing 8 year old. His surgery is scheduled for 9 Sep though and I was so upset to hear how extensive it is - ball and socket joint removed. Bone taken from leg and a bone donor to fill in top of humerus. He'll be left with a frozen shoulder for life. So unfair, but as long as it gets him well again I guess it's a small price to pay. Have just had a good cry about it though. Poor little chap.

Off to cheer self up with pizza (hmmm, diet) and smaaaaall glass of wine (as I'm on call and could have to drive to a birth tonight, though hopefully not yet).

x

sunshinesarahandco · 21/08/2010 11:43

DizziDoll · 21/08/2010 22:47

Quick post from Belgium

rebecca what a brave little boy!! I hope the operation goes well.

I am very a little worried that i may be pregnant... My belly seems to be growing rather than shrinking and it's quite hard.
The thing is that i can't remember any time that was 'risky'. My DH would be pretty pissed and i'm not supposed to get pregnant for 6 months after a second c-section.

Should i tell DH that i am worried and do a test with him or should i sneakily do one and only tell him if it is possitive... Would i need to consider abortion due to the risk after c-section? Sad

BusyMissIzzy · 21/08/2010 23:05

:( Dizzi. Personally I don't know anything about pregnancy after C sections. Do you think your DH would want to know you'd taken a test, regardless of the outcome? How long are you in Belgium for, and is there a doctor there you can see?

Arcadie · 22/08/2010 00:01

Dizzi Aw bless you - what a hard situation. If I were you I'd tell him and test with him and decide WITH him what to do. i don't think you'd HAVE to consider abortion at all if you want another baby. C-section or no. Hugs sweet lady - I'm so sorry you're worried. Really hope you get a peaceful night's sleep and clarity on the situation in the morning. FWIW however angry you think DH might be, I'm sure he'd see it's not a blame issue but a work together in a tough situation issue.

MandaHugNKiss · 22/08/2010 09:25

Probably slightly bad timing considering dizzi but I'm pouring with blood - another ridiculously heavy period...

But, dizzi bear in mind that the uterus doesn't really pop above the pelvis until after 12 weeks and even then you can only just feel it. What I'm thinking is that your stomach is probably not new pregnancy related. Still, you should test to put your mind at rest re: pregnancy but then maybe ask your gp when home if what you're experiencing is normal.

Thoughts with you. Hope you can gain some clarity, and so, peace.

MandaHugNKiss · 22/08/2010 09:26

Bah, excuse double post - I'm lacking in caffeine (but about to remedy that!).

DizziDoll · 22/08/2010 13:11

I spoke to DH and he can't really remember a time when we were flippantly risky. I haven't got round to getting contraception yet though but we have been using the 'pull back at the last minute' technique. Not fool-proof, i know. But combined with breastfeeding, we felt confident that we should be ok.
Having said that, we are uber-fertile though. Dd was conceived on our first time.. (oops) and ds was conceived the night we talked about wanting to go for a second one soonish...
With Ds i started showing a little bit at 10 weeks...
We went to gt a test but they don't sell them at the supermarket here. So i will have to get one from the chemist tomorrow and test by myself.

manda you are trying, right? Not sure whether to say sorry or pfew :-)

pix you and I are on the same page with the everything happens when it's meant to/for a reason. I don't think I could fake this sanity function if I didn't believe it given some of the curve balls life has thrown me! (ps, you're in the tww now so my fingers are crossed that this is the month it's meant to be Grin)

dizzi We're not trying... but not preventing either. Kinda 'we don't want any but secretly do' I think. However, over lunch today DP says to me 'as you're not up the hillary, am I getting the snip then?' I simply replied 'It's not actually effective from the moment it's done' and then, somehow, the subject got changed. Fancy that! As for you, I hope that the outcome is what is best for you.

rebeccacad · 22/08/2010 21:18

Dashes in on way to bed to say Dizzi test and hope all is as you want it to be. Pixie's whatever happens is a good mantra.

Just back from amazing home water birth. Bit of a battle with protocol but she was amazing and the birth was one of the best days of my life! Looooove being a doula.
