Hey ladies, noticed I've slipped off the listwhikst lurking... Could you add me back on as not an easy task on my iPhone!

Dalrymps - Ds#2 - Miles Elliot - 20th March

Hi to Bwd! I'm a bit of a sporadic poster but always lurking and reading, welcome aboard!

Dalrymps · 13/07/2010 20:28

Oh and BMI don't feel bad at all, my guess is 95% of parents have done the exact same thing as you!

I put Miles on the sofa just today whilst I grabbed something.. Ds1, Dylan rolled off the bed, had his head bashed on a door as I carried him and I accidentally cut his thumb with nail clippers, I felt like the worst mum in the world of course but he survived.

Am just wondering what accidents Miles will have cause it's not a question of 'if' but 'when' no matter how careful I am!

MandaHugNKiss · 13/07/2010 21:05

bmi Again with the sympathy from over here - dd1 was my 'dropper'. I popped her in her pushchair and then turned to grab something (I hadn't strapped her in...) she arched her back and then BAM! she was face down on the hallway floor. Which was only lino at the time, so lovely and hard. She's perfectly fine, of course. And from that day on she was strapped the moment she got in it! And, not that you need a 'it could be worse' comparision, but... it could be worse! DP hadn't yet crawled when MiL left the room momentarily. Cue screams that had her running back to the room to find not only had DP crawled for the frst time, but had his head stuck to (ie, melted onto) the glass of the gas fire. He sports a scar over much of his forehead to this day, loves his mum to millions of pieces and bears no hard feelings. These things happen and hopefully, we get one of the 'minor' incidences that cause us to be that little bit more vigilant in future.

Gosh, I'm back to zombieland. James was awake every half hour last night, grizzlin, needing to be latched on, sweating. His teeth are driving him nuts so I assume it's a combo of that and the close weather. He went down at 8 tonight, woke at 8.30 and...oh my, is crying now. I'm not looking forward to this!

Ok I've read all the posts but it's now almost midnight so I'm off to bed but will post tomorrow.
I hate not having wifi! A week with no regular internet access is like torture for me. I managed a few quick ebay/email/fb and business check ups but knew that if I logged onto MN I would get hooked distracted for too long.
Missed you all.
DD1 is potty training
and DD2 is not rollling but trying very hard but she is a big lump and I think bigger babies can take longer to get mobile but she did a miraculous bum shuffle across the room when we were on holiday. The other 3 members of the family were upstairs sorting out the beds so it definitely wasn't DD1 moving her but when we came back down she had shifted off her play mat and was wiggling her legs about 2 metres from where she had been left!

Arcadie · 14/07/2010 09:34

Smac I'll hold your hand about the potty training. Any views on getting the brown stuff in the right place? sigh I do hate the brown.

BMI Simeon has also taken a flying backflip to land upside down in his metal poo-wipe bin. Still seems ok. And DD also rolled off her mat aged about 8 weeks.

BookwormDad Welcome - read the lists, inwardly digest, print and stick to your fridge (like Pacific Dogwood did!) and then KILL anyone who reads them. they'll probably be going from here.

IWCAS I'm with you on this - there are some funny types out there and I can totally understand why you don't want to have lots of details that identify you here. I'm very very identifiable to anyone who knows my kids names cos they're all so unusual. For the most part I don't mind but I do wonder who's out there reading all about me!

Pixie Hi - don't think I've sadi hello for a while. Hope you're doing well! Thanks for the brief trip down memory lane with the lists - it's weird thinking how far we've come in a year. I do wonder about some of the names who dropped off the radar and how they're doing...

Off swimming now - with DS1 and DD Simeon just sits on me and watches wistfully. I'm a little nervous because we took them last week with their g-parents and they were atrociously behaved.... Lots of screaming and freaking out. Happy days.

Shroomer · 14/07/2010 10:05

IWCAS - if it was me, I would change your 'handle'. I don't think it's enough to have that list changed. As soon as someone makes the link between IWCAS and your real name, then they just need to google 'IWCAS'. I think!

Sorry, lurking, baby waking up... was sleeping through every night, 8pm til 6pm, but has now started waking twice in night. Bleurgh...

No time other than to skim and quickly say IWCAS I think "superwomanlike" is actually a very good (and apt!) name

[gets all nostalgic at sight of the lists]

Unless they're in Chat, anything posted on here lasts as long as the Internet does, IWCAS. Scary when you think about it.

I also felt pretty identifiable through my DCs' names. A quick google confirmed my suspicions. My fault really. Birth announcements in the national press def don't help.

Will go away and ponder whether I've said anything here I might regret. Don't thiiink so - but who knows for the future.

More vaccs in a minute and DD has, of course, just gone to sleep. So presumably I can expect an afternoon of cross, miserable crying.

Still about a million years from sleeping through the night here. I am in the market for a revolutionary new eye cream.....

scooby26 · 14/07/2010 14:06

Hi all

BMI sorry about the fall - completely understand the guilt - luckily we haven't dropped DS -YET!

arcadie yay on the sleep front- heres hoping theres more headed your way.

IWCAS Completely see your point in your case. Name change probably would help. My name bears absolutely no resemblance to my real name so heres hoping.x

MummyElk · 14/07/2010 21:50

hi all - more bumping cos we are v quiet - and marking my place as yet again it's fallen off my Threads I'm on! yikes.
BMI hope you and Izzy have recovered from the fall? poor you. if it helps, DD2 fell off the bed very early on...and DD1 fell with a few (loud) bounces down the stairs yesterday, massive bump on her head...i tried putting frozen peas on it to take down the swelling... found her a minute later with packet of peas in her lap chewing her way through them CLEARLY not too injured then.
We are in the process of working out a solution to DD2 growing out of the Moses basket whilst not quite convincing the other one to vacate the cot. Suggestions on a postcard please.
Running i know we have a few avid runners here.. any tips please on tummy majorly hurting every time I run? I'm regularly at the gym and enjoying it, it's fine with everything, but running, even for just five minutes, hurts.... I'd quite like to do a 10k in October and can't see it happening as it goes now...BMI - any thoughts?
hope all well. to everyone, looking at that list makes me think we are a shadow of the thread we were, aren't we..

Pingpong · 14/07/2010 22:15

You are brave mummyelk
I know I said I would do a proper update today but I'm going to go to bed. Big day tomorrow. I'm going to a new toddler group to see what it is like and to the Swansea MN meet up

Arcadie · 14/07/2010 22:20

HEy MummyElk long time no chat. Impressed with the running. Where does it hurt? Muscular? Stomach cramps?

I've got 2 evenings in on the trot Thurs and Fri so if anyone wants some real time RKD silliness then let me know.

And those of you who're on FB i've started a new photo album for Simeon - same as for DS1 and DD : a photo for each month. Looks a bit naff to start with (Sim's only 3 months) but DS1 is 53 months old now and looking at the photos as they change is really funny!

Good morning all

for the first time ever DS slept from 11.30pm till 7 am . Of course I was awake between 3 and 5am expecting him to feed... Anyway, inlaws still here and it has been ok. In fact is nice to have a extra pair of hands and be able to take a 10minutes shower

BMI very scary. But I think it will happen, eventually, to everyone.

MummyElk where do you get the energy to run? Well done

Arcadie it's a great idea. I'm also doing the same with DS. I saw your DS1's photos on FB, it is such a nice evolution. Your children are gorgeous.

IWCAS I agree with Flip "superwomanlike" is good name

Weather still horrible over here.
Have a great day
x

MummyElk · 15/07/2010 08:40

Morning too
rkd ! well done on the potty training, tis horrible and v stressful. and agree, Family Arcadie are gorgeous, good work. We're doing the same as we did with Elk, so a photo a week for the first year - it's interesting looking back, the two girls do look very like each other when you compare, i just don't see it day to day.
Muscles hurt right down the middle of my tummy, it's not quite a stitch or cramp, it's just painful. i had some degree of diverification afterwards so am doing some reading about that to see what the advice is. Obviously it's sporadic reading around nappy changes/tantrums/feeds/general elking....but anyway.
well done babyevitas on the sleeping!!

I'm going to ring a bfing cllr today, DD2 feeds ok but it's snacky and therefore very windy...and after burping she doesn't seem to want to go back on the boob. Just wondering if it's a latch thing or something.

am around tonight but DEFINITELY around tomorrow night so will get my glad rags on for a good MN fest

Morning all, Isobel is miraculously still asleep and I'm (also miraculously) wide awake despite 4am feeding. Thanks for all the synpathy and reassurance about the fall; she's completely fine, although my heart still sinks a bit when I remember it. And my mum told me off for leaving her somewhere that she could roll off (a fair point, but I didn't really need to be made to feel more bad about it at the time). Oh well.

Arcadie I think your monthly photos are a fab idea, especially as they get older. I'd consider stealing it myself but I'm 3 months too late now. It's amazing how much they change though.

Smac, meet up sounds exciting, how many are going?

MummyElk I'd have asked the same questions as Arcadie about your pain when running. Is it down one side, like a stitch? Or more internal? 10k sounds good though. Before I got pregnant I was aiming for a (hypothetical) half marathon. Maybe one day..

IWCAS I'm sure nobody would object to the old messages being deleted, although I wonder if MNHQ would have to ask permission from the person who posted it? If you namechange you have to let us know who you are though!

Sariska how did the vaccinations go?

Looking at the list again; I can't believe there were 60 of us! Where has everyone gone? Are there many in the FB group who have gone AWOL from here? Maybe a quick FB message would encourage them to pop in and update.
