x-posted; evitas yay for sleeping through!

MummyElk hope the bfing counsellor helps. I'm no expert on running or childbirth (or anything else, come to that), but if the pain is down the middle of your abdomen it does sound like it could be to do with muscle separation. Not sure what the advice is for running.

Pixie hope you have a lovely holiday. How sweet of your DH!

BusyMissIzzy · 15/07/2010 09:18

LOL Pixie. Missed that one. Glad it's recogniseable as a typo!

Morning all - another night of screamfest at 5.30 - teeth or lack of seems to be the trouble. After calpol and hugs he went back to sleep and yet again I did not. I feel a bit crap keep giving him calpol but in the middle of the night nothing else seems to work - I feel almost like it's drugging him back to sleep but clearly that is not my intention - only to alleviate his pain. How long does it take for one little tooth to appear fgs!

As you were...

And yay pixie on suprise holiday. Wish my DH would take a suprise hol and leave me in peace! I could do with space to get on with DS and sleep as and when i WANT not looking after an extra child and trying to sleep through snoring

sunshinesarahandco · 15/07/2010 13:31

sorry i have not read any previous posts, plan on catching up a little later today-

just wanted to let you know Rosie had her pins removed yesterday from her surgery in jan, all went well she came round from the GA very well we came home about 4pm. she is fine today a little sore due to the stitches (they went in the same scar as last time ! she has been referred for some physio as the joint is still very stiff so will see howm it all goes,

was horrid being away from Elliott for a whole day we left home at 6am, he was still asleep so didnt even do his first feed! got home at about 6pm, when he was already bathed and ready for bed, had an hour and he was sleeping, - my mom on the other hand had a great day with him and Harry when he was home from school.

i am so glad that i work evenings, when i go back in september/october i still get all day with him and he sees his daddy for a bit before bed! dont think i could leave him every day x

sorry for my selfish post! will read and catch up asap!

BusyMissIzzy · 15/07/2010 20:02

Excellent news sarah, she and you must be really pleased, and relieved that it's over

sunshinesarahandco · 15/07/2010 20:58

bmi- very relieved, she is an absolute star! has had alot to deal with for a 2yr old this yr! bless her she is just so brave and not at all bothered by any of it

FlipFantasia · 15/07/2010 21:06

Sarah I saw from FB that Rosie's op went well - excellent news . She's definitely a brave little girl!

BMI so sorry to hear of your DD's tumble - something like that is bound to happen to us all but that doesn't make the shock of it any less (for you, I bet your DD has forgotten all about it now!). Glad to hear she's grand. Am well of your running btw. I really need to get myself sorted with some exercise...

Rebecca hope the doula course goes well

Evitas gosh, you've got one cute baby there! What a cutester

Loving all the boob stories btw. Have come close myself but, other than DH, have managed to avoid anyone else seeing me with my boobs hanging out!

Good luck to all the potty trainers too.

This is just a flying visit from me as really must hang out with DH tonight. Have relegated him to the spare room at the moment, as DS is waking a lot and I need all the space in the bed (I sleep so much better when it's just me and DS). Last jabs tomorrow (hoping he handles them as well as the last bunch) and then get to see my mum on Sat, as she's currently on a long weekend in Germany with my Dsis and will be in London on Sat before leaving Sun morning. Am well excited - DS loves granny time! And granny loves DS time! And I love sitting drinking tea while DS gets passed around...

Flisspaps · 15/07/2010 21:09

Evening all! Thread disappeared for me yesterday, glad you're all here today!

Arcadie lovely photos of Simeon on FB!
Pixie Surprise holiday - how lovely! Hope you all have a wonderful time and that the weather picks up for you!

Scooby Don't feel crap for giving DS Calpol - it's what it's for! We've been doing the same for DD and I'd sooner give her a small dose she doesn't need than not give her one that she does, if you know what I mean?

Sarah Wonderful news, glad that all went well.

Can't wait to see IWCAS's new name...superwomanlike sounds v. good!

Have made a decision about going back to work (well, I think so anyway) and rather than return I'm going to register as a childminder, went to an info session tonight and have sent off for my provisional driving licence (not essential I know, but would be handy to learn to drive) and hopefully by the time DD is 1 I'll be all set up and ready to go. Might take that long with all the courses and Ofsted reg but I'm actually quite excited about it. Shitting myself about learning to drive though!

donttrythisathome · 15/07/2010 21:16

Sarah great news!

Sympathy to all the night wakers. DD has been waking more as well - teeth? And Scooby I dose her with the calpol too when she's screaming and nothing else seems to soothe her.

Re the lists. I might remove DDs name too. Paranoia!!

Flip lucky you seeing your mam.

I haven't been getting on with DH lately and it's been getting me down. I think it's the severe sleep deprivation. Hopefully we have it sorted now but I actually shouted at him out the front door during the week about the fecking washing. He said it was like being in Eastenders!

I got a Tripp Trapp for £14.50 on the Friday ads!! [smug boasting emoticon]. It doesn't have the highchair bit (baby pack) but you can buy them separately. I'm not going to bother though as I've read great things about the Ikea Antilop.

I also got a door bouncer and a baby nest ring thing for a tenner all in. I'm laughing I'm telling ya.....

FlipFantasia · 15/07/2010 21:40

Donttry major at the tripp trapp! Those Friday Ads are great - we got a G Plan dining table and chairs and nest of tables for eighty quid when we lived in Brighton (they sell on ebay for a lot more). You're jammy! The baby set is great btw - DS is comfy in it already, bangs his tea spoon around while we eat dinner...then drops it and tries to suck the table cloth . Sorry to hear of sleep deprived stress - it's one of the hardest things about being the parents of small babies .

Fliss super exciting about the CMing! Great idea (I've even thought about it myself for the future). And don't worry about the driving - I learned while pregnant and passed at 35 weeks (first time). It's scary, but in a good way (I loved by driving instructor - I used BSM and he was great).

Pixie have a lovely holiday! How sweet of your DH

So, rather than hanging out with DH I've been in the Feeding topic - check out this thread. If you check out the link to the local paper in the original post you'll see a picture of me and my friend with our sons (though please can no one mention my name on here - they spelt it wrong, as the Facebookers will notice, but am still paranoid about my MN cover being blown!) - hadn't realised they'd use our pictures in that way, as didn't realise the picnic was a protest (was too busy eating cake and sunning myself ). I'd also appreciate if you could sign the petition too - I found the support invaluable during the horrible early weeks of breastfeeding (a horrible time of endless thrush and persistent cracks).

OK, am now going to hang out with DH!

Arcadie · 15/07/2010 22:30

Good work Flip!

hecklephone · 15/07/2010 23:19

Hi All! Still here, still lurking, Still in NI, still got tonsilitis - but thankfully it's on its way out, thanks to some helpful anti-b's. And Thanks to those who sent sympathy vibes my way!

Am enjoying the only 'me time' I've been getting lately -the occasional half hour of MNing or reading (with booklight) in the dark, in bed, next to dd2 in her cot. It's not much, but as someone who quite enjoys her own company, i'm glad of it!

Had a middle of the night panic last night though, as at about 3am I realised the baby felt awfully hot. She'd also been very restless and feeding a lot. And with the amount of bugs we've been sharing in this house recently I was rather worried she was running a fever. So I had to wake poor DH and get him to help give her some calpol- her first ever dose. I wasn't able to check her temp but after that she slept much better and seemed cooler after a while. I've been concerned about her all day and keep checking her forehead but I think she's been normal temperature, and seems fine in herself. Maybe I was a bit paranoid last night but I didn't want to take any chances I suppose.

Anyway, what with all the health-related issues I've been dealing with recently, I've been thinking about pacific. We miss you pd and I really hope RL stuff eases up and allows you to come back and join us again soon.

Ok, going to go now and try to squeeze in another chapter of harry potter before the little blighter darling wants her midnight feed! Ta-ra.

scooby26 · 16/07/2010 07:45

Hi
heckle glad ur feeling better and getting some rest. Hoping DD doesn't get your bugs!!!

Missing PD too, hope she is well x

ValiumtheConqueror · 16/07/2010 08:17

Just checking in briefly:

great news sarah
well done Flip- will sign petition asap
Glad you are on the mend Heckle but sorry about illness. LMAO at first ever dose of calpol though. I think babyV may be well on her way to being babyNurofen!
donttry- major friday Ads envy...
fliss- good luck with driving (i didn't learn until a couple of years ago and hated it, right up until the SPD kicked in and the only way to get around was by car) and new career. It's obviously catching, with rebecca learning to be a doula. I'm thinking of retraining as.......

a locksmith.

Arcadie- I love your FB photos....wish I'd thought of it, though have taken so many, I probably could...thgey're never going to know are they?

OP posts:
Arcadie · 16/07/2010 08:47

We love yoooooo PD get well soon baby Joe and come back to us Pacific

Flisspaps · 16/07/2010 11:26

Valium A locksmith? Not something I'd ever considered. Maybe I should, I'm a dab hand with a screwdriver. Not so good with a hair grip though...

Flip Petition signed!

Heckle Glad you're feeling better, and glad that DD slept well after the calpol.

Still no more rolling over here, doing my best to encourage it but DD just not interested - she STILL lies there in a pool of dribble. We did have one roll last week but I think it was entirely accidental and there have been no more since, not even close.

Went to the CM information evening last night, what a complete waste of time that was - especially as it was bang on DD's bedtime when it started. Spent half an hour being talked at by a lady who told me NOTHING I hadn't already found out on the net, (you have to register with ofsted, you choose what you charge, you can do courses, you work from home blah blah blah) who eventually told us that we could register on a briefing session in September where they would actually tell us the useful stuff and fill in forms etc. Argh! Just get me on the useful info session and let me get back to my screaming baby please!

Still working on getting my hospital notes through, had a letter back today with my form to say that they can't release my husband's medical notes (?) until I get a witness to sign the form. Which seeing as the form clearly states I want my notes from my stay in the maternity unit including antenatal/labour/postnatal I am confused as to why they think I want DHs notes. So I shall get him to witness the form, and he can be a 'personal friend'.

siamesecatwoman · 16/07/2010 12:03

i hate all this rain! But I wasnt so keen on the roasting sunshine either.. and last night it was so windy that DD woke up (i think from that) a squillion times. She's now having a 2 hour nap and Im not.

I made some cakes and muffins on wednesday as I had bf coming yesterday and some mummies coming this afternoon. BF's 2 yr old ate 4 muffins (or squished 4 muffins on the carpet) so Im short of cake. Dilemma - do I wake DD from nap to go to shop to purchase cake, or risk mummies showing up at my house and having no cake in? Since when did cake bake offs become the norm for mummy groups? Such pressure! (but I love baking..) Maybe they will be happy with the mouldy digestives in the biscuit box

Fliss I thought about being a CM before I had DD so as not to go back to work and spend more time with her. Now I have to admit, Im looking forward to going back to work PT. Ive found a gorgeous nursery on a farm nearby and the kids help feed the animals sometimes. Hope theyve got spaces, as I didnt register anywhere yet.

Arcadie may steal your fab idea of a monthly pic. Your DS looks like so much fun in the pics! It is gobsmacking to see how quickly they change - just 56 pics!

Melk did the BF clinic help? DD only ever feeds in 6 min (max) bursts but I know my let down is immense.

pixie of your surprise holiday. Where to?

All the surestart groups have finished now till sept here. What am I going to do with myself and DD? I need to get out once a day at least.. I can see an expensive shopping habit coming on..

IWCAS sorry about your lack of sleep again last night. Is he feeding every time? Can someone help you so you get some rest? Dont be embarrassed to ask. And Im sure TTSP really really soon. x

BlueyDragon · 16/07/2010 12:29

Eye rolling smiley for Fliss re hospital notes. And for the timewasting meeting. But yay for the new career!

Valium, what are you like?

Iwcas, sorry you had a grotty night.

BMI, pleased there aren't any lasting effects from the fall.

Flip, I've signed - our specialist midwives here are the only reason Alex is bf and everyone should have that access.

Donttry, good score on the tripp trapp. Hope things improve soon with DH.

Sarah, fab news on DD's pins.

Extreme envy of all those who manage any exercise, especially MummyElk - what's the secret when you have 2?

Right, time to tidy the house and clear out before the next viewing. Hope someone buys this place soon as I can't keep up the illusion much longer!

BookWormDad · 16/07/2010 18:02

A pretty bad couple of nights for us with DD - she had her jabs on Wednesday (our paediatrician looks like William Shatner, and wears a hawaiian shirt - don't miss the NHS at all ) and was very grumpy with a temperature all the next day.

Now she seems to be suffering with her teeth again. Waking every hour in the night, and generally being very unhappy. We've been using tylenol (what they use instead of calpol over here), teething gel and frozen teething rings - basically anything to try and make her a bit happier.

My biggest problem, is that I never know when to try and settle her, and when to take her to DW for a feed, which means that DW has to try and feed her every time, which makes the crying much worse if she isn't hungry and means that DW is super tired for work the next day

Anyway, off out for a long walk today, so that should be good. Although its a real struggle to keep her out of the sun, and apparently sunscreen isn't to be used until 6 months, so blankets over the stroller and legs wrapped in a muslin it is.

sunshinesarahandco · 16/07/2010 19:23

hey everyone, just checking in, hope everyone is ok much love x

Flisspaps · 16/07/2010 19:59

BWD do they have bonjela or similar there? Because it soothes straight away it might help with the pain-or-hungry night time crying. Can DW express some milk for you to use for night feeds so you don't have to wake her up.

Think most of us here have experienced the 4 month sleep regression to some degree, so it may well be that which is causing DD to wake up.

MummyElk · 16/07/2010 21:53

hello all
not sure i'll be around here much this evening, have put two to bed on my own and suddenly feel. very. tired. have relegated DH to the spare bed tonight since he's out anyway so, er...might make the most of the evening and sleep?!!
Anyway - BWD how often does your DD feed during the day? i only ask because if you've managed to get her into a three/four hourly feeding routine, then you might know whether to wake DW for a feed or not. I speak utterly as someone who definitely got her DD1 into a 4hourly bfing routine, and has not bothered with DD2 - frankly i was too tired and too distracted by dd1 this time around to even have the energy. DD2 is completely fed on demand and it works around my lifestyle now. I'm only suggesting a semi-routine if it helps you. absolutely realise routines aren't for everyone, just a thought. if it helps, the way i know DD2 is hungry is she gives me a pleading sort of look as she cries. anything else and it's wind/tirednesss. She just has a sort of Look about her!!!!
she's also in with us in bed from about 2/3am, mostly because i can't be arsed to sit out and feed her when i could be catnapping in bed next to her as she feeds!
Right am going to have to go.
night all - at all, partic rkd missing the madness, my friend, missing the madness. One evening soon we'll all be online and stark raving loons
sleep well

Arcadie · 16/07/2010 22:28

MummyElk Hello my chum Arooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!
