Hello new thread

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

MM - we were in Central Middx

Well back from GP and now looking highly likely that M will need a gut biopsy to see what is going on.

She has pooed over her clothes today as well

TBH kids kind of doing my head in today and am counting down till wine time

Filly - wow 1mth already!!! It has gone sooo fast

Glad A got a good report. J is looking forward to yr1 too but he has been separated from most of his good friends although he makes friends easily so probably won't bother him for long

JustKeepSwimming · 26/07/2010 20:54

Evening all

Gingeme - annoying about the weather today, with your plans for CF.

Simps - what happened with the doc? what else did they say? how does a gut biopsy work? (may have to google in a mo)

Filly - loving the catchphrase When are you free to come out here? We are away 2nd 2 weeks in Aug, so has to be before the 14th, what days suit you best?
And don't worry you won't put me off, yet anyway!!

Oh and while i'm talking about meeting up, our next GOSH appt is in Sept 21st if anyone wants to come and join us for lunch - [prob Nandos, unless the weather is good enough for a picnic].

All good here, been food shopping, done lots of gardening (not that you'd notice!), had friends round, and even made sausage & mash for tea (that's serious cooking for me i'll have you know!) and done the ironing.

Now sat watching Biggest Loser whilst sipping a glass of red & eating a twix, oops
(am limiting my wine as on the dreaded 2ww......)

simpson · 26/07/2010 21:07

JKS - what date/time is your next appt at GOSH??

Not sure exactly what a gut biopsy is yet Pead will expain more I guess...but it does involve a general

JustKeepSwimming · 26/07/2010 21:49

3pm i think (will have to check)

simpson · 26/07/2010 23:21

ok, fingers X will be there with M

MrsMcJnr · 27/07/2010 00:24

book mark - back soon

mixedmamameansbusiness · 27/07/2010 09:49

Have put that date int he diary JKS. I work Tuesdays but might be able to change my days... i dont want to miss you again.

fillybuster · 27/07/2010 20:37

Crikey, this thread moves fast sometimes !

Right...diary dates (although I've misplaced my blackberry so this is all subject to checking!)...

MM - I can do most Mondays/Weds after 11 - can you post a link or some directions to which bit of the heath you mean though? Are you talking about the Dartmouth Park end? The only coffee place I know on the heath is the one at kenwood house (that's my end of things!) and that def doesn't have a playground, sadly. I know the playground near W Hampstead tube but there's no parking round there? Too late to get scared about #3 now!!

JKS - I can def come over to Southend before 14th Aug - how about the week after next? I'll probably take advantage of camps and my remaining childcare to just bring Mia if that's ok with you...that way we stand a chance of a conversation ! No idea about 21st Sept at the moment but it could be tricky as Tamara is starting nursery a week or so before (only in the mornings) so it will depend on how she's getting on and how tired she is. But I like the idea

Simpson - poor M And poor you I really hope you get some answers soon, this must be really upsetting for both of you at the moment. How is J post-op? Is he recovering well?

latrucha · 27/07/2010 20:38

sorry - have read but have hands full.

wanted to ask what LOs fave toys are now?

also, anyone got a toy workbemch they can recommend. S crazy about screws. the more lights and noises on bench the better.

simpson · 27/07/2010 20:43

M's favourite toys are her teaset (I lose count of how many "cups of tea" I have to drink in one day!!) and her toy kitchen and of course red teddy(s)

Wheely bugs are still a big hit with both DCs too.

Filly - J is fine now and its great not having the TV so loud!!

M been playing with the little girl from next door today (the one who terrorised my kittens!) so she has had a great day and she was at nursery this morning....

fillybuster · 27/07/2010 20:47

Toy kitchen (we've got the little fold up one from ELC for space reasons!) and teaset, 'baby' dolls and buggy/pram/high chair/baby clothes/potty etc etc stuff, jigsaws and recently she's got massively into the trainset and DS' duplo lego.

In the garden she loves the tiny £3.99 trampoline from woollies

simpson · 27/07/2010 21:07

yes forgot to mention M's pink toy buggy from ELC she loves

And various bags etc for putting "stuff" in

We have the pink toy kitchen from The Entertainer.

£3.99 trampoline!!! Bargain

M has also just got into dressing up and likes wearing fairy wings or fairy dresses and she made me laugh today as she put on J's batman outfit and she looked sooo cute and the cape was dragging on the floor!!

simpson · 27/07/2010 21:21

Keep thinking of more of M's fav toys

She adores and tbh this is her absolute fav other than red ted, is her bouncing zebra that she sits on.

Bought it 2nd hand off net mums.

Think Ange's Alek had one too as it was on her profile pic on FB for a bit

(with A on it obv. )

Filly - the Gospel Oak entrance at the bottom left hand corner is where the car park is. Next to the Parliament Hill Lido round the corner from Dartmouth Park. If you can do after 11am, you can park here as there is free parking after 11am. There is also a paddling pool next to the playground.

Any others up for Hampstead Heath?

latrucha · 28/07/2010 11:21

Hi all,

Thanks for feedback on toys. I will contemplate them! No one else's little girl likes to play engineer, I take it?

I really want to do a proper catch up but my geriatric computer is making everything so slow. It has its moments, so I promise to try when it lets me.

Mixedmama - I was wondering if you'd like to try some of the high-strength ginger pills I bought to combat morning sickness? They did nothing for me, but some people swear by them. I have about three week's worth left in the bottle and would be happy to pop them in the post. Email me through FB if you want them. I'm going to the post office some time this week.

Hi MrsMc! How's the hot hot summer treating you? Can you blow a little sunshine our way?

JKS - sorry to hear H is going to have to have another GA. Do you know what they're looking for now?

Daniel and Sabela have got into a routine - not prompted by me - where he wakes as soon as she goes for her nap and as sson as he is asleep he wakes. Also the same at bedtime! SO hands tied here very often. ALso, Daniel is developing an 'awake' period at about 4.30am which I'd liek to try and get him out of. Any suggestions?

HE had his first bout of crying last night after feeding constantly - it felt like- from 1pm. I'm thinking of trying a dummy but don't want to get him hooked. Any tips. I never used one with Sabela as it was hard work enough to make her suck milk. Daniel however, is a very sucky baby.

Hmm. Why do they have to come out differently? You'd know what to do then!

fillybuster · 28/07/2010 12:43

LaT - Tamara has the benefit of having a big brother...she loves 'fixing' everything with his black&decker toolkit, especially the electric saw! She wanders around with a hammer, screwdriver and hard hat on Is that what you had in mind?

I think Daniel might be planning something (a party?!) with Mia, who is also extremely awake every night/morning at 4.30am My 3 have all been very 'sucky' babies (its not hunger - they've all had moments where they've angry as soon as the milk comes post-latch because they just want to suck, not eat), and dummies are a godsend at the early stage when they can't find their own fingers and thumbs, or keep them in long enough. Maybe worth risking the dummy police until around the 5 month mark, then encourage Daniel to suck his thumb if he still needs it? I try to limit dummy usage to sleeping times only, but sometimes needs must

fillybuster · 28/07/2010 12:47

Oops...forgot to respond to MM!

How about last week in August? I can do either Monday or Weds - I feed Mia around 10.30 so meeting at 12 would be perfect if that works for you? I'll probably bring just Tamara and Mia and leave A at home - is that OK with you? Gingeme, are you around then?

JKS - what days are good for you? I can come next week or week after, any day except Thursday 5th (my anniversary, but, more importantly, my 6 week check!) and the Fridays. Or I can wait until September and we can have a quiet coffee with just Mia in tow...?!

mixedmamameansbusiness · 28/07/2010 13:35

Filly - is that week of 23rd Aug? If so the Wedn 25th is best for me. Ginge/Simps et al?

LaT - that would be great thanks will email you. Such kind ladies on our thread. Re: the dummy I am with Filly there are worse things in the world. I have a friend whose son is starting recpetion and has just gave it up so really it is no failing just a sometimes necessary tool.

latrucha · 28/07/2010 13:51

Mixedmama - While I think of it, I'll pop in some high-strength vitamin B6 that I have. It's a common remedy for MS in the states.

I asked my GP to look into it and I think she advised 25mg per day. The dose in the states is 100mg. My tablets are 10mg each, so make up your own mind!

simpson · 28/07/2010 15:36

Gingeme - how are you coping with the school holidays??

And you Filly??

Kids bored dispite being entertained today. Am determined to get J riding a bike with no stabilisers by the end of the summer so took him out on bike earlier while M was at nursery.

Promised J I would bake cakes with him this afternoon but got no eggs so cue tantrum from him

Can't make meet-up as going to the IOW for 2wks on 21st Auguest

latrucha · 28/07/2010 17:17

Nice, Simpson.

Sorry to hear your efforts are going unappreciated. I had an afternoon like that. I got out 'goo' (cornflour thing) and colurs. Sabela - 'Television'. Got out things to make soup. Sabela 'television'.

Oh well, if you must. After my sicky pregnancy and now breastfeeding, she's a total telly addict. Although, today I was bf Daniel and I asked her to come and sit on the sofa to watch her programme because I was lonely and she came and played nicely with her dolls instead. Fab. Maybe she thinks I'm just trying to get rid of her to see to Daniel.

Anyone got any thoughts about balance bikes?

I think this might be for Christmas. I like the things to make. I can't work out what they really do with the other ones.

gingeme · 28/07/2010 20:22

mixedmamameansbusiness · 29/07/2010 09:45

Hello all.

DCs have been at MIL most of this week as I have been working. I was off last Thurs and stupidly said i would make it up today even though i was so sick so am now so sick again but at work. Then off for 10 days and mum and dad are back from Turkey. Got some plans for the kids but nothing really amazing. We will go and see Toy Story, the leisure centre at the end of our road has jus been refurb so will be doing swimming, Highgate Woods, Hampstead Heath and possibly the zoo. Fingers crossed they wont get bored.

latrucha · 29/07/2010 13:54

Sounds fab Mixedmama. A very scruffily packaged parcel should be winging its way to you tomorrow: I had to make do with the packaging we had in the house. Hope it does you more good than it did me!

My next dilemma (which I am not yet starting on - don't worry!) is whether to go for number three. I always wanted a big brood, but left it too late. Two feels incomplete to me. However, the fact I hate pregnancy, have had two pretty good births and don't want to tempt fate, like being a SAHM so finances are limited all tells me that number three is not practical.

DH - who feels much the same as me - has suggested starting to try at the end of this year as he has a sabbatical in early 2011. I have told him a firm 'NO' even though it would be a good opportunity: I can't face pregnancy that soon and am enjoying the two I have too much. Really, I am torn between thinking, 'My two are so fantastic, why want more?' and, 'My two are so fantastic I defintiely want more.' What a lucky lady I am!

JKS - exciting!

gingeme · 31/07/2010 21:59

Evening all
Just a quicky to say I'm off to my Mums with the boys tomorrow for a week so will pop by when I get back xxx
