I'm here, busily training for my Race for Life on Sunday, it will be my 11th. Am running it at Aintree for the first time and it's predicted to be a v hot day. Dh and Joe will be there to cheer me on, can't wait to see them at the finish . I'm doing a 10k in Oct

littlepea72 · 24/06/2010 08:41

Hello!!!! Im back online (with a silly stick thing that doesnt work very well)....

Have so much to read, about 1 months worth I think....will catch up later!! xxxx

HappyTangerine · 24/06/2010 11:23

littlepea Welcome back, we've missed you! How did you get on with the other stick thing?(the one you wee on ).

Forgot to ask Scout what were you planning to make from all the crafty stuff you bought?

and last but not least, passing round some banana cake to everyone, especially HC

Igglybuff · 24/06/2010 13:52

hello everyone!

thank you for the cake. yum HC I've only had three hours away from William - and can't even contemplate more just yet (how will I return to work??). I've had to turn down hen nights and weekends (no offence to anyone who has had a hen weekend, but they're expensive too!!)

Hi littlepea yes the stick the stick! Welcome back! How was the move? Are you settled in?

HT William's sleep has calmed down again (PHEW). So last night we had 11pm, 3.30am and up for the day at 6am. So a massive improvement on the previous nights. He's also stopped babababaaaing and being hyper alert at 3am. B
oo to the hayfever. I am the same and it sucks. My eyes go mental at a meer hint of pollen - it seems so much worse this year. Also I'm much more sensitive to dustmites now - I've got allergy covers on my bed but not on the chair I use to feed William at night so when there's a 3am boob call, my eyes go crazy Fingers crossed for the check up. Also my first long run was a 10k it was great. If you can do 5k, you'll be fine. I find it's more of a mental thing really. Good luck!

William's hair has started falling out again It already fell out and grew back a few months ago which I had expected to happen. I'm a bit worried that it means he's deficient in something (iron?) - although he is eating solids, he's not eating much (the hot weather doesn't help really). Any ideas? He seems happy generally. I'll take him to the docs I think (and probably come across PFB).

princess I agree with HT on the stairs/tube. The stations are a lot closer than you realise and sometimes it's actually easier to get a bus or walk (I work in central london). The tube is horrible in this weather!

to everyone else.

Littlepea Stick? we have been waiting for 4 weeks now Not that we are nosey !

We have girls sports day this afternoon.Long, boring and sooooo competitive

Tea and cakes made for them when they come back home.Roll on the hols only 4 more schooldays to go

Connor still napping so I am avoiding some of sports day, Is that bad? Daddy is there.

HumphreysCorner · 24/06/2010 15:52

Hi all

Have been to the Drs as the way I have been feeling seemed all too familiar so I have PN depression again. I am waiting for the Dr to ring me back as he needs to find AD's that are suitable for BFing as I really can't face giving that up.

Matthew was so constipated yesterday that I had to pick it out of his bottom and it was as solid as stones. He had strained so badly that skin bits were sticking out of his bottom. They popped back in but today he has strained again and they popped out with it then in again. What is this? It looked like some sort of prolapse. Am hoping it will heal. Surely if it hurt him he would cry all the time and not just when pooing.

littlepea-welcome back. I use a T-Mobile dongle when away in the caravan but it is rubbish.

Iggly-not sure about William's hair. I know they always lose the back bit from laying on the floor and in the pram. Keep your eye on it.

fidelma-I am dreading the sports day. I hate the mum's race as I can't run as my legs don't go very fast so I am always so far behind and out of breath.

Surgery closes at 4-30pm so not looking like I will get tablets today. Have my BF course tomorrow morning so can't go then.

Thanks for the cakes girls. Big wave to all!

HC

Igglybuff · 24/06/2010 19:32

HC sorry to hear about the PND but good that you've recognised the signs and can get sorted.

M's constipation - could they be piles? W doesn't go everyday since being on solids which is worrying. I've been giving him loads of water, apricots etc but not a huge difference although he strains less now.

I've been googling and apparently the reflux meds that W is on can inhibit iron absorption - which could be why he's losing hair. Thinking over the last few days, he's had dips in the day too where he just isn't himself. I thought he was tired. Now he's nearly 9 months I guess his iron stores must be nearly up so needs iron in his diet. I've been giving him iron rich foods every day but if the meds stop him absorbing any, then it's been a complete waste!!! So will be getting an appointment with the doc asap.

hello all

Well, 3 weeks in and am just about hanging on in there with work/commuting etc

i can see there is loads to catch up so will take the time to read the thread and post personals

i can't really access MN at work so will try to catch up tomorrow and over the weekend

have been thinking of you all especially in this hot weather which seems to upset the babies doesn't it?

xx

fidelma · 24/06/2010 22:27

HC I am sad that you have pnd but great that you are getting some medication.Hugs and cakes to you.Luckily we don't have to do a mums race.

dd1 came 1st in one race (they only get to do 2 races) but dd2 got nothing again, she was sad and upset. Then some horrible kid (who won alot) was boasting to my dd1 which made her upset.Horrible event. If dd1 wasn't in the pipe band (which plays) I would be tempted not to take them (AS if !!)The prize giving alone takes about 40mins.

HC sounds a bit like piles I would see the Dr.olive oil mixed in their food helps wiyh constipation.

Ruby Great to haer from you.

Iggly I wanted to say something to you but I can't remember so hi.

HT I am impressed with your running. My breasts dont like running

HumphreysCorner · 25/06/2010 13:44

Oh dear, have looked on the internet and I think it is piles and all caused by me taking Nurofen Plus with codeine in it. I don't think there is anything I can do apart from making him looser so mum getting me some cod liver oil to put in his cereal. I will mash up more fruit too. It will also reoccur all through his life whenever he has to strain to poo. Will keep my eye on it and if it gets worse will see a Dr.

The Dr rang back and is going to speak to a BF expert who helps ladies with PND as she might help with what AD's can be taken so probably won't get any until Monday.

Hope all OK.

Quick bumper post:

HC so sorry to hear that you have to cope with PND, we're all here for you, do chat if you want x

fidelma breaks my heart hearing how sad your DD was about not winning anything, awww.

PrincessMel Super news about F, looking forward to the day when I can point him out to my friends when he's in some glossy

Littlepea oh hello again! {big wave}

Ruby Its really tough isn't it! Are you still breastfeeding, I think my supply is on the wane just doing morning and evenings...

Iggly where do you work? I'm behind Tottenham Court Rd. Good luck with the reflux meds, I'm super super SUPER pleased Annalise has finally stopped vomitting! I hope William's reflux goes very soon too.

HT I'm back to running too, was training for a half-marathon start of October (the first I did in 2006!) but I'm SOOOOO tired from the cycling communte, work and childcare that I'm finding hard to recover from a relatively small run of around 5-6km now. I can't believe I had the energy to run 10K to work twice a week before getting pg... Do your joints ache significantly after a run? The dr said it was the pg hormones that make all your joints soften stay in the system for up to a year.

Having major stress trying to decide what to do about the childminder; I feel so uncertain as to Annalise's is safety there: stairgate at the stairs down to the kitchen in the basement often not there, no monitor and Annalise is 2 floors up napping, just odd things now and then that just aren't right. AND I've been offered a place in Sept to a nursery that I was dying for A to go to: really nice food prepared, grade 2 listed house, beautiful grounds, lots of activities and facilites. It seems clear-cut to anyone that I should move her, but I'm finding it really hard to decide, I think because if I have nothing else to go on, I really feel that Annalise really likes the minder, she's all big smiles with her. ARGH. I'm losing sleep over it, and have to make a decision by Tuesday or I lose the place. What to do?

lixanismapolium · 25/06/2010 16:22

Long time no post! Hello All!

I know it's been absolutely ages since you heard from me, but I am still here - got loads to catch up on though!

Calypso - I understand your dilemna as it is one I have struggled with for both of my dd's, however they have both ended up at nurseries and have both absolutely loved it. In the end, I just couldn't quite deal with all of the 'What ifs' that came into my mind when I thought about them going to childminders.

At nursery there are always staff in the room with them, even someone sitting in the corner in the dark in the room with the cots when there are babies asleep!

Phoenix has been at nursery since I came back to work in Feb (when she was 4 months old) and seems to really enjoy it. She loves all of the staff and is really excited to see them each morning. They do loads of activities even with the tiniest babies, things you would never consider doing with them at home!

At the end of the day though, it's a decision you have to make yourself because you have to feel 100% comfortable with whatever you choose.

Good luck!

fidelma · 25/06/2010 22:40

I like dinner with 2 Cs
eg. curry and champane
curry and cake
and tonight chicken and chocolate

Saw dd1 on a school trip today, they walked up to the castle dressed in period costume and acted out plays about Mary Queen of Scots.A blissful trip in the sunshine, lots of happy and relaxed children (now that sports day is over)

princessProudmel · 26/06/2010 22:05

Welcome back linax Glad things are going so well for P at her nursery What sort of activities does she do at nursery??

fidelma I LOVE curry, but NOT with Champagne! With Beer or Shandy.
Sorry your dd was sooo sad Ds1 won the running race last year and was OVER THE MOON! (so were dh and I!!!)But..if he doesn't win this year..I predict tears!

HC Sorry about the PND. Glad you recognised it and are seeking help.
((hugs)) We're here to listen if you want to offload.

Ruby keep on going. Well done for getting to 3 weeks. How is baby Ruby?

F has had a terrible cold the last few days really snotty and sneezy. On friday he coughed LOADS all day. it just came out of nowhere. Thursday he was fine, then in the night he just developed this cold.
Seems perkier today though .
We went to meet Peppa Pig today at a local school. It was lovely! Dd and ds1 loved her!

I got all the forms through from F's agency. I need to send all his measurments and details, passport photos, a doctors form saying he's 'fit to work' LOL and a form for the council about licences....

Hope you're all ok in the heat.
take care xx

HappyTangerine · 28/06/2010 14:19

Hello! I am sweltering in this heat, how are you all coping? Joseph like his mum-he is v cranky and out of sorts . I did my Race for Life yesterday, it was a bit of a struggle as I wore stupid socks and it was so very hot. Photos are on my FB page if anyone wants a laugh. Feeling euphoric afterwards, I signed up for a Liverpool fun run on 2nd Aug, I thought it would be a good measure of progress before the 10k in October.I have blisters and am v sore but happy

Calypso What a rotten dilema for you re. childminder. I think I'd be inclined to say yes to the nursery place and see how childminder goes in the meantime, mentioning to her your concerns about monitor. There is a big UK childminder forum on the net(I use it sometimes for sensory play ideas for Joe.)-maybe ask the childminders on there? I will find and post web address.

HC So sorry about the PND, good that you have recognised the signs. Keep talking to us, we're all here for you. What ADs were you prescribed in the end? I was given Cipramil(citalopram) when I suffered depression some years ago. Made me v tired for 3 weeks then worked quickly. I hope yours kick in soon.

PrincessMel Poor F, hope he feels better soon

Lix Welcome back!

fidelma and Iggly forgot what I was going to say - back in a bit x

Igglybuff · 28/06/2010 14:36

Hi just marking - off to docs to ask about william's hair... Will catch up later x

OP posts:
Igglybuff · 28/06/2010 20:12

Hi everyone!

Doc wasn't very helpful. She thinks that the hair loss is nothing to worry about as W looks fine. She says that as we don't wash his hair very often (he's got ezcema) or brush it much (no point!) that he doesn't lose much hair that way. I'll be keeping an eye on it though.

HT glad you're happy after the run! I liked the pics crazy doing it in this weather though.

calypso I work near Victoria station and have to go to meetings in various places in central london. Not great in the summer! Last year when pregnant I refused to get the tube in the heat so got a taxi and ended up being cooked as stuck in traffic. On your nursery issue - can you explain your concerns to the CM? I second what HT says -go for the nursery and see how CM goes. TBH if anything happened at the CM, you'd kick yourself.

princess this modelling business sounds very serious!! My neighbour who used to work in tv said that William could be a model.. Not sure if she was just being nice! You must keep us posted on F's assignments

fidelma I'd have champagne with every dinner if I could.

lixan glad your little one is enjoying nursery. We're going for a nanny (as no nurseries have spaces) but hope to put W in nursery when he's older.

to everyone else! Where's scout??

Calling scout and Littlepea

Scout19075 · 28/06/2010 21:27

Hello everyone!

HappyTangerine · 28/06/2010 21:58

I am MNing while watching Mary Queen of Shops and writing a scathing email to Jeremy Hunt MP

Hello Scout! What have you been up to?

fidelma Hope your dc's enjoyed the ta after sports day, I always loathed sports day. My nieces will be v jealous when I tell them term is almost over for you, this still have weeks left. Oh and my don't like the running either - dh took vidio footage of my crossing the line and it looks like I narrowly avoided being smacked in the face by them!

Iggly Sorry doc wasn't much help. I give Joseph Abidec multivits & iron(which he hates)-agonised over it long and hard as I was sure my bmilk should provide everything needed. Finally decided that because I'm still so very anaemic, I'd rather do this than worry he wasn't getting iron through my milk. At his 8m check, the hv said that they are free after 6m-I was given a little card and I just present it at a children's centre when I run out.

Calypso8 Forgot to say yes my joints ache like mad after a run, even with stretches. Thats interesting about the pg hormones, I thought it was all down to my anaemia

big wave to ruby and littlepea

HappyTangerine · 28/06/2010 22:00

fidelma-tea not ta

Scout19075 · 28/06/2010 22:06

Yes, I'm here and alive. We've been out of the house a lot the last few days. Enjoying the warmth though it's getting a bit too humid, even for me. Saturday we went for a pub lunch farther into Suffolk with friends who were up from London for a wedding. Was very nice. Then we (DH, S & me) went to one of the market towns. Yesterday we went to a Falconry display. Not only watched the birds fly, Seb saw one of his little girlfriends and they kept smiling at each other. A bit of "Hey, I know you! Hello Friend!"

Watched the cutest Seb/kitten interaction on Thursday and it just made me a puddle of mush. Ten week old kitten came bounding in to where Seb was sitting playing and went right up to him, nose to chest. They both checked each other out and Seb realized "CAT!" and got very excited -- bouncing on his bum, grinning, laughing. He kept putting his hands out, palms up, for the kitten. When the kitten went to play elsewhere, Seb kept watching him, bouncing and laughing at the kitten playing. When he thought the kitten was watching he'd put his hands out, palm up, like "please, come sniff me!" He didn't try to hit it or grab it, but kept grinning at it.

Found out there is space for Seb for respite nursery and tomorrow my case will go forward to see if there is funding. Fingers crossed!

Hello to everyone and I'll send personals soon!

HumphreysCorner · 29/06/2010 10:10

Morning all

HT-well done on your Race For Life. Such a good cause. Thank goodness you named your AD's as on the phone the Dr said he was giving me Cipramil but they are Citalopram 20mg. Thought he had given me the wrong ones. I took these last time but can't remember if they were 10 or 20mg but they worked. It says on the internet that you can't take them while BFing but the Dr investigated and said that as M is over 3 months it is OK. Hope so!

Iggly-sounds strange what the Dr said. Maybe go back in a few weeks?

Had my over 40 check up last night. Weight OK ish. Had bloods taken to check for risk of heart attack in the next 10 years. If cholesterol 5 and over will need to take tablets to get it down.

DD1 has got nits again, damn things!

Hope you all survived the overnight thunder and lightening, if you got it.

Morning all
We had rain here but no thinder (well maybe but I was asleep!)
Had a lovely day yesterday. The dc's had an inset day so we went to Broadstairs and Whitstable. Had to escape the heat. I was way to hot at home on sunday.
Was lovely. I love going to the beach. One of my favourite things to do. I love beach huts and picnics and seeing the boats etc. Plus dd ADORES playing in the sand.

HC An over 40's check? ! I didn't know they did those. I think it's a good idea.

Iggly I'd keep an eye on it and go back if it keeps happening too.

scout F loves our cat. And always wants to touch him, but I don't really let him as I'm worried the cat will go for F. You never know and claws are sharp... He watches him when he comes in the room and gets all excited!

Question for you. Do any of you know what shoe size your babies are?? I have no idea as F doesn't wear shoes. I might have to take him into Clarks to get measured... Need to know for the form...

Baby massage again today. One more next week then the course is finished.

Have a good day
