Health wise felt fairly okay. I had a background headache most of the week, but don't know if it was the meds, the weather, the lack of drinking properly or the company. To be honest, the week was miserable because of the person in charge. But I am over it. I smiled all week and just kept counting down until it was time to go home.

How is everyone?

princessProudmel · 23/08/2010 21:45

Glad you managed to get through it scout.

We're all ok thanks. Had a bit of a rubish night last night. Not sure why, maybe a tooth is coming...

F has his 10-12 month check tomorrow. I wonder what he weighs.

HT Joe has sooo many teeth! Soon he'll be over all the teething pain while we're all still in the midst of it Grin

fidelma · 25/08/2010 08:54

I am here anyone eles around?

princessProudmel · 25/08/2010 08:59

Me...! :)

HappyTangerine · 25/08/2010 20:52

I am here, v busy preparing for holiday next week. How are you all? I've just seen the Oct 2010 thread title when searching for thisShock

Mel - I can't see photo, do you mean the one at the bottom of the home page?

Had dentist appt today and he thinks its a good idea to have a look at Joseph's many emerging teeth so his first dentist appt is in 2 weeks! Seems to be in a lot of pain with them and has developed a habit of sucking his thumb or 3rd finger, pushing it right to the back where the pain is. He's got little sores at the bottom of his thumb and finger as a result. I am finding breastfeeding incredibly tough with these new gnashers as Joe wants to nurse a lot atm. Any tips? I am so thankful for my wrap right now, its saving my back and means I can actually do stuff with my little klingon, even though he keeps turning my head around to give me big kisses! Its this one: here

We're starting to think about what we're going to do for Joe's birthday, can you believe our little ones are almost one?! Am fairly sure I'm going to get him a trike, one of his little friends has one and he loves it. I think we're going to have a little tea/meal for family up here the Sunday before, a day out on the actual day (prob Chester Zoo or Farmer Teds) then a bigger tea in Wales the following Sunday so my huge family don't miss out. What about you guys?

Off to settle down with some cheesecake and my favourite film in all the world (Anchorman)Grin x

princessProudmel · 25/08/2010 20:53

Is anybody there....?????

For those of you that are there 'hi'!!!

I've put F in a grobag tonight rather than just wrapped up in a blanket. He keeps unwrapping himself and its getting colder. Not sure if the unwrapping wakes him up or not but I don't want him to be cold.
Last time we tried the grobag it was a disaster though and he woke up every hour. dd was just in a blanket till a little over 1 and ds1 till 6m.

F's got a possible job for next week so we'll have to wait and see on that one.

He had his 10m check yest and the HV thought he needed to eat some more iron rich foods. She said 'does he eat red meat a few times a week'. I said no. She suggested iron supplements....
She did his weight and I forget what it was but he was a teeny bit under the 50th % line. Between 25th and 50th for height.

She wasn't too impressed when after she asked about cupboard locks I said we didn't have any anymore...and that he'd tried to eat the cat food and the fire place coals. Also that the cat was on the loose in the house. On the floor with the baby Shock
I am always with him tbh so it's ok. We will get more locks now though as he is so mobile and has learnt to open the cupboard doors.
I told her we had stair gates... Grin

How are you mummys that have gone back to work getting on??

:)

princessProudmel · 25/08/2010 20:58

Hi HT!!!

On the home page there's some writing that says 'look book'. Click on that then scroll through to the right, through all the pics. F is the last pic. :) :) :)

Your Birthday ideas sound fab!
Dh will be off work for F's bday as it's half term. He's taken some time off. So we'll have a family day , might go out, then grandparents and my sister will come over in the evening for cake and pressies.
One of the days that week we'll have a mini party for his baby friends :)

fidelma · 25/08/2010 22:33

CalypsoFramboise · 26/08/2010 14:12

Hello to you all!
Have a random spare moment to catch up (although its really quiet!) as Annalise has a temp and vomitting again so I had to leave work warly to collect her. poor thing she was sooo ill lat night but seemed to be better this morning. Fingers crossed it won't last 3 days like the last two times she was unwell.

HT goodness Joe has TONS of teeth! Annalise is just erupting her 3rd (a lateral incisor, randomly) poor you with the many bf, and his sore thumb sounds painful. Hope all goes well at the dentist, can't imagine holding a baby in a dentist chair :o

PM you're doing better than us - we don't even have stairgates! And is F in the picture entitled Take a Rain Check? Gorgeous! I love that coat too :-) Well done both of you and good luck with the next job

1st Birthday Party - Aimed to only have closest friends and mummy/baby friends and somehow have 48 invited so far! Have taken the occassion to give DH and I a kick up the bum to have the house renovation completed, ie finally getting a stair runner, and admitted defeat with the garden and having it landscaped in 2 weeks time - its tiny but awful! Will be having a pergola with a swing put in, how wonderful will that be? Ok, most of you will have more than 1sqm of outdoor space, but for us cramped Londoners, I can't believe it :)

Big hugs to you all, I know I don't post very often, but its nice to see some activty still, I miss you!
x

HappyTangerine · 27/08/2010 22:32

Sorry ruby, missed you out , how are things?

rubyslippers · 28/08/2010 09:33

How are things ... There's a question!

Not too bad in all honesty

I am worn out but ok. The return to work was fine and the nanny is excellent

DH is awAy a lot or working late so I do the whole bath and bed on my own most nights

Time for me is very much a thing of the past TBH

Rubes is sleeping pretty well .... We had a bit of a bad phase a who,e back when she started to roll and it made her upset that she couldn't roll back to her back

I am in the process of dropping her 10 pm feed and we are down to7 mins already

She is crawling away and pulling herself up

No teeth yet!

She eats everything and drinks really well out of a beaker

She's a delight Smile

Will cathc up with the thread

Xxx

littlepea72 · 28/08/2010 14:31

Hello Grin

How did you all get the wee ones to drink out of the beaker? Ive been trying for months but no luck!

rubyslippers · 28/08/2010 14:59

I've used the soft spout beakers

Tommee tip pee and nubby do good ones

Will try to find links and post later

Igglybuff · 28/08/2010 17:19

Hi all! Nice to hear from ruby and calypso :)

littlepea DS drinks from a doidy cup (we let him play with it and make loads of mess) and a momma beaker by tomy which is rounded like a ball so easy to hold, not just by the handles. He likes open cups having seen me use one.

We're on hols at the mo - weather isn't bad and we've been out everyday. William is getting over a nasty cold/tummy bug picked up from his baby mate! He was up for a few nights writhing around with really bad wind and diarrhoea :( but he's still walking around and trying to run so on good form. Until we put him in the car or pushchair then he kicks off! I've had to walk with him on my hip to calm him down.

He's turning into a proper toddler having tantrums which is embarrassing Blush

Anyway I've got a low battery and hardly any signal so will sign off. Hoping to meet HT as both oop in the lakes thus week :) we still haven't had a London meet! I go back to work in October so if anyone is working and fancies lunch let me know!

Hello everyone. Nice to see more of us back on the thread :) :)

Ruby glad you're getting on so well. It's lovely to hear from you.

littlepea f just did it first time . I didn't do anything apart from put it to his mouth and he just drunk from it! He's never had a bottle though so he didn;t have to learn a new way to suck iykwim(apart from the diff way to suck my boobs!!)
F has this one www.ciao.co.uk/Healthy_Eating_Cow_Cup__7272156 and this one www.ciao.co.uk/Tommee_Tippee_First_Cup__7388492?AID=image&KID=PA_SP_reviews_offers

iggly Hope you're having a great hols. Would be great if you mananged to meet up with ht!!

HT Yes that's him..in the 'Take a rain Check' coat!! He got the Tesco job btw. It's next week. It's something to do with Christmas Grin This is his 4th job!!! :)

Had a huge scare this afternoon. F passed out/fainted in his high chair. It was was really upsetting. I called childrens A+E and we took him in to be checked over. He was fine and wasn't kept in but all the same I am worried about it happening again.
He did that thing when they suck in a huge breath before they let out a huge cry, but instead he didn't cry, he just flopped over , bent in half on the high cahir tray. But his eyes were open. He was a grey colour and all floppy.
I've heard/read that sometimes it can happen more than once and it becomes a bit of a habit :( Hope not :(

Hope you're all ok xxxx

fidelma · 28/08/2010 22:20

Hi everyone

Toms first day was a success but he cried on day 2 really badlySad I guess he liked his life at home with mummy and Connor.Oh well deep breaths for monday !Apparantly he soon settled once I had gone.DD1 has moved to the middle school and is loving her new independence (and her male teacher she is 10 fgs)Confuseddd2s best friend has joined her school and class so they are in 8 year old love!!!!

Connor drinks from a tommy tippy.crawling lots and fast.Pulling himself up,he is so chuffed. He loves making animal noises, has at least 6 teeth and I think more on the way (3 night wakenings last night)SadHe is 1 next month, how did that happen?

I am back to my pre pregnancy size so I am very happy but I had to have a medical for an insurance thing and her scales were half a stone heavier than mineSad I have been thinking for 10 years that I was 8 and a half stone but perhaps I have been 9 !!!!! However I feel good so I am not actually bothered but it was funny.(wouldn't of laughed 10 years ago) Perhaps her scales were wrong (I dought it though!)Wink

I start teaching ballet again next week after a year off.Just one afternoon a week.I will need to do some prep instead of off the top of my head Hmm

Off for a jo malone bath BlissGrin

fidelma · 28/08/2010 22:26

princess Thomas was a breath holder at this age he passed out twice, it is very scarey. It is called a blue fit.Once they have passed out thay start to breath again. They can be a bit sleepy afterwards. blow in his mouth and that often gets them to take a breath.Connor has been close and turned a bit blue but he has never actually passed out.He will grow out of it but you need to be on him when he takes that intake of breath and then nothing, as you don't want them to hit their heads.

twinklegreen · 28/08/2010 23:19

Hi everyone

It's been a long time...sorry x
Have been reading the last couple of pages, glad to hear all our LO's are doing well.

scout hope all is well and the treatment is bearable.

princessmel freddie is soo cute!

ruby glad to hear that you're doing well, saw the pics of little ruby on facebook and she's adorable!

fidelma dd1 starts school on thursday, I can't believe it! doesn't seem like 5 mins ago I was holding that little bundle in my arms. Think there might be tears! and very Envythat you weigh 9st, don't think I've ever weighed that!

iggly In my experience toddler tantrums kick off from about 9mths and last to about 3 years... good luck! This is the rollercoaster of parenthood x

HT have a lovely holiday

calypso 1st child 1st birthday's are the best, enjoy! your subsequent children will be lucky if they get a present...

littlepea Amelie has just got the hang of a beaker, she spent alot of time getting very wet, but in the last few weeks has got the hang of it, keep trying Smile

Hope I have missed anyone

Update on us... Amelie is crawling and standing, has no teeth yet although she has a good nibble on her evening feed, ouch! she eats for england... none of my other children have ever eaten this much... she happily polished of a full carvery today, beef and gammon slices! Still wakes in the night most nights, but sometimes just needs a cuddle. Generally lovely, easy baby. twinklegreen is enjoying wine... but it is the holiday's, and this time last year I was pregnant!

littlepea72 · 29/08/2010 08:12

Hi Grin

Thanks for the comments on the beakers, I will kept going with it. Faith doesnt seem to be in any rush to do anything, after my DS being able to walk/talk/do everything from 9 months, its strange to see her being so laid back. But they are all different. She doesnt like being on her tummy, wont crawl or pull herself up, but she does love being on her feet. Just a matter of time Smile

Twinklegreen Amelie sounds like such a darling baby! But ouch to eating all that food with no teeth!! lol
Princess what a scare Shock Ive heard of it before, but Im thankful Ive never seen it. Hope he doesnt do it again.

Fidelma I hope Tom settles in a bit better. They always seem to calm down once you have gone.
Well done on getting back to your pre-preg size Grin

Iggly hope William is feeling alot better. I can remember my DS being the same with his buggy, once he could walk all hell broke! He never wanted into it. He used to arch his back so we couldnt get his strapes on. He just wanted to walk everywhere! In the end I had to get reins & let him walk, he soon got tired & settled back into the buggy, but it was hard going!

Im still getting over the jetlag! Montana was great. I missed the kids like crazy, but the break did me good. Was lovely to see friends again, and alot of the horses were still there. Had some near misses too. Flying into NY airport, we went in to land, then the plane took off back into the air! The captain told us they wanted to land 10 pounds of sugar into a 5 pound bag!!! It was a near miss! We were also driving along the highway when everything went mad, it was cold, windy, brown & horrible....we drove through a tornado that had just touched down Biscuit Also....as if that wasnt enough lol...we were out for a mountain ride, way out in the middle of nowhere. Tony had just bought new land & we all went to ride it. We got lost, it got really dark (only light was the moonlight) and had to ride down a rocky steep mountain face! I was so glad there was no kids, the words that came out of my mouth was terrible! Never been so scared in my life! Then we came accross a bear that didnt want to move! 16 miles in all, sore ass, legs that no-longer worked! Never so glad as to see "Griz" sitting in the truck with the big horse trailer! Next day I was black n blue lol
It was such a good holiday though.

Cant believe that Faith will be 1 in 6 wks time Shock it has really flew in! When I think back to last year, I could hardly walk!

Hope you have all had a great weekend!!

Scout how are you feeling??

twinklegreen · 30/08/2010 14:42

Amelie now has her first tooth Grin

fidelma · 30/08/2010 22:04

twinklegreen great to hear from you.I wish your dd all the best for next week.

ds1 didn't cry today. He seems to have enjoyed himself. He does't like his shirt and tie very much.

I am finding it tough to get 3 out for school with all the right kit etc.looking after all their stuff is a full time job in its self.5 pairs of navy socks each all a slightly different sizeShockTHATS 30 SOCKS FGS.Not to mention sports socks, ballet scoks and socks for the pipe band!!!!!

(I have had to put name tapes on all of themAngry)I now feel slightly smugWink

Princess how are the blue fits?I have been thinking of you.please don't stress.

scout you are a bit quiet how are you doing?

littlepea what a holiday.I am glad you are home in one piece.

iggly waves to you

princessProudmel · 31/08/2010 21:25
