Yasou! Back from lovely Greek island, hard work for me and didn't get it all finished (Looks guility at the pile of data still to process), but Annalise and other baby really loved the beach, much more so than when we had been to Corsica

Scout19075 · 08/08/2010 23:35

OMG, just watched the funniest thing. Heard thudding coming from S's room -- sometimes when he's trying to roll or find his dummy he bumps into the sides of the cot or the ends of it. The bumps were loud, so I went in to try and shift him from the edge. As I was going in he sat straight up. I gave him a dummy (several in his bed so he can find them on his own in the dark) and he literally instantly fell forward and snuggled into the sheet and mattress, sound asleep. I even picked him up and shifted him lengthwise in the middle of the bed and he's still sound asleep.

The thudding startles me sometimes and as I'm still awake (dunno why, should be sleeping) went in to check him.

Will come back tomorrow with nursery updates -- am pleased to say it's still going well. He painted me a picture on Friday. Grin He's painted before, but this is the first picture painted for me away from me (if that makes sense).

Am also afraid to say I think I cursed things by saying "so far side effects haven't been too bad" because by the time I got home from the in-laws tonight I felt like p00. DH isn't home tonight, either, so feeling like p00 on my own. And the network that my DH has the tv hooked up to is down, so I can't even lay in bed and watch bad television. Sad

HappyTangerine · 08/08/2010 23:57

Welcome back Calypso Smile Re beaches - I'd recommed Camber Sands or West Wittering, both easy from London and fbulous family friendly beaches with lots for the children to do. Rye (for Camber Sands) is a lovely town with some yummy cafes and restaurants. You can't beat Brighton for the buzz, shopping and general people watching.

Not really sure about the poo-Joe used to go 3 to 4 times a day when bf, now once or twice and they are fairly solid and stink! More loose lately but thats because he's ill.

I don't feel like superwoman! If I could get Joe to go to even my MIL it would be something but he's going through a major separation anxiety phase atm. All v normal and healthy according to hv's and gp but v tiring for us. Still, he's growing so quickly I'm not going to complain. Can't believe he's 10 months now.

News from The House of Snot: - someone has suggested we could have swine flu! I thought that was all over now?
Joe - on mend, cough not bad, projectile vomit only after bad coughs. Nights difficult unless he's sleeping almost upright SOmuch snot. Am changing my name to Karvol Wink. Huge blood blister above 8th front tooth has gone and it's now happily through the gum. MIL much better, DH improving but still has cough and I won't bore you with how crap I feel. My biggest problem is the barking uncontrollable cough, it really scares Joseph. I feel like I'm trying to function at altitude, everything a huge effort.

We are all back at doctors tomorrow. Did not expect to get ill in August, I feel quite miffed!

to all

HappyTangerine · 09/08/2010 00:00

X-posts Scout sorry about the side effects kicking in, its doubly crap when you're on your own. Big hug, hope you get a good sleep.

Very random question and I'll post more later. What sort of cheese spread/dip do you have here in the UK? Apparently Sebby enjoyed his cheese and breadsticks at afternoon snack at the nursery and when I asked the teacher how they got him to each cheese because he still won't for us, she said it was "dipping cheese." All I can think of is the fake processed cheese food stuff we have in the States which isn't real cheese (which is why it's called "cheese food product"). And should have asked what sort of breadsticks -- any ideas?

Igglybuff · 09/08/2010 17:19

It could be cream cheese like philidelphia? My friends' babies love the stuff. And you can get breadsticks for babies.

OP posts:
Scout19075 · 09/08/2010 17:25

Don't think it was cream cheese, though I have a tub of Philly cheese for Seb to try. Where can I get baby breadsticks? The ones I've seen are for 12+ months. Can I really give them to my 9 month old toothless man?

Igglybuff · 09/08/2010 18:00

I've seen the baby breadsticks in waitrose but I haven't checked the age range. Maybe the nursery used those ones?

Other kinds of cheese - could be cottage cheese or you can make your own cheese dip (make a roux - melt butter, mix flour. Add milk slowly, beating all the time. Then chuck in loads and loads of grated cheese).

All this talk of cheese is making me salivate....... I'm still on a no dairy diet!

Oh you can also get cheese dippers here is one brand

How are you scout anyway?

beaches We LOVE Brighton and Broadstairs. LOVE them. Brighton has fab splash parks and sand in the play areas, but a stony beach.
Broadstairs has sand.

breadsticks F just has adult ones. He sucks them till they are mushy. :)

And he has had Laughing Cow cheese and dairylea but MN seem to think that Philladelphia is abetter choice for babies Grin

Welcome back CF!!

sorry quick post...school hols still......LOL

HumphreysCorner · 10/08/2010 12:13

The school hols are definitely interfering with my MNing as I can't concentrate. Can manage FB as it doesn't take too much brain power. Grin

Calypso-M has solid poos but this week they are sloppy which combined with his screaming at bedtime make me think he is cutting more teeth.

Scout-sorry you feel bad, is there anything you can take to help? DH needs to sort the TV.

HT-swine flu? Crikey, I thought that had fizzled out too. Hope you all feel better as it is rotten to feel poorly all the time.

Matthew has Tesco mini breadsticks and gums them until they are soft. He does the same with his toast at breakfast. He prefers the cheddar cheese twists but they are more money. Mum has these for him at her house.

Girls are at MIL's today and I should be packing things into the caravan ready for our hols on Saturday. Just so nice to have a day without 'Mum, mum, mum!' 'Can I have, can I have, can I have?' Will you play with me?

Big wave to everyone!

Scout19075 · 11/08/2010 09:00

I don't have the excuse of school holidays. My brain is just fuzzy.

WAVES to everyone!

Igglybuff · 11/08/2010 18:43

Hey scout is it the treatments making you fuzzy? how are you getting on?

I'm starting to feel human again as William is doing well at night with only one feed between 11pm and 1am. Last night I went to bed at half 8, he woke at 11am and got up at 6am. I feel a lot better.

OP posts:
Scout19075 · 11/08/2010 19:34

Yes, it's the medicines. I seem to have a low-level background headache that sometimes roars. Fortunately paracetamol seems to work on the roaring ones. But I don't want to keep taking paracetamol in addition to everything else (can take it, just worried about taking too much then the headache getting really bad when I stop taking it). For a few days I was both tired and had sleep disruption/insomnia (both common side effects) so was in a miserable state. Back to sleeping half-way okay but fear it could get messed up again as I have to take the second medicine tonight (one medicine I only take once a week, on Wednesday nights).

The nursery has been a God-send, really. And S really seems happy he smiles at his teachers when we walk in and reaches to get down with the toys and other babies. He doesn't seem to eat much lunch there, but I figured out it's because it's a bit early for him, especially in relation to when they have their snack and he has his milk. But it's only two more days, so I won't say anything besides, their lunch time is set and wouldn't want to ask them to feed him later than everyone else for just two days. He does eat some lunch while there, and lots of snacks (hence the earlier question about dippy cheese) and always drinks his milk, so not going to worry.

I had my first birthday present from home yesterday. Grin And today when I had lunch with a friend she had a surprise for me, too. Blush And a package from my Mom arrived yesterday -- with Mom & Dad's birthday present to Sebastian. ACK! His birthday isn't until the end of October. LOL

How is everyone?

Igglybuff · 11/08/2010 20:24

Ooo birthday excitement already! Excellent!

Did the doctor say anything about taking meds for the roaring headaches? I hope your sleep doesn't get worse again!

I'm glad that the nursery is working out well. I bet it's a mini adventure for Seb. Are they taking pics for you? Oh I was thinking about your cot thudding story the other day - wondered if he was trying to walk in his sleep...??

sorry school holidays are really taking over. Our children go back 2 weeks tomorrow (not that I am counting!)

Had a quick read waves to everyone.

scout you sound like you are doing really well.Keep positive xxx

Scout19075 · 12/08/2010 10:28

Paracetamol seems to help the roaring headaches. That, and sleep if i can get it. I think they headaches will go away at some point.

Been reading up on some of the other side effects -- SCARY!

Nursery has been taking pictures for me. I gave them a disposable camera last Thursday and they took 10 pictures that day. I left the camera in the bag and they've kept it and have been taking pictures. I hope to have a full camera when I get it back tomorrow. Will go straight to get it developed and pick up the pictures before we head to camp on Saturday -- I can't wait another week to see them!

princessProudmel · 12/08/2010 16:38

Hi super quick post...

I have added some pics to our FB group. Grin GrinMy photographer friend took them on tuesday :)(nothing to do with modelling)

Is there any way we can make the Oct 09 group a private group so it doesn't come up on my FB page??? Because it would only take a 'friend' to go onto Mn read the OCT09 thread, work out which was me and then be able to read all my posts on all of MN!!!

I can't do it cos I'm not an admin.....

waves to all :)

HappyTangerine · 12/08/2010 19:18

Hi all. Question for fidelma if you're around - can you tell me a bit more about your naming ceremony? We're thinking of having one for Joe, rather than a baptism (the mum/MILs will flip but so what). Was it a humanist ceremony and hpw did you go about finding a minister? Ta

Hi to everyone else

Igglybuff · 12/08/2010 19:20

princess those photos are incredible!!!
It does say the group is closed so only we can see content. I think you need to alter your own settings - I've just experimented and adding photos to see if it works. Hang on, will report back!

x-post HT! How are you?

OP posts:
Igglybuff · 12/08/2010 19:24

Gah it didn't work princess. The only solution I can think of is to change the name of the group so it doesn't refer to mumsnet or the thread?

Who is the facebook administrator?

OP posts:
princessProudmel · 12/08/2010 21:06

iggly it says it's part private. I belong to another fb group which is totally private and nothing to do with it shows up on my FB news feed. We could change the name of the grop too but it's already been on my page all afternoon now!! I couldn't hide it!!

Does anyone mind changing the group name? Just something simple and neutral like Antenatel group.

fb group admins please can you make the group private? :) :) :)

But yes the pictures are amazing aren't they? There are 24 in total. I was very pleased with them.

Right will catch up on personals now.
